Fields quote on brilliance, zodiac

COSMIC WATCH:

“There are two kinds of sparks, the one that goes off with a hitch like a match, but it burns quickly. The other is the kind that needs time, but when that flame strikes… it’s eternal, don’t forget that.” Timothy Oliveira

Affectionate Venus in adaptable Gemini forms an anchoring trine to protective Saturn in partnership Libra, helping to firm up and solidify our romantic and business relationships. We are able to deal more maturely and responsibly with respect to our relationship matters now, and also are more receptive to the idea of long-term commitment. This is also an excellent day to establish healthy relationship boundaries.

The Moon also shifts from conservative Capricorn to futuristic Aquarius (7:47 am EDT) putting us in more of an inquisitive state of mind. Intellectual Mercury in impressionable Cancer is also forming an exact square to change-agent Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius, deposited in pioneering Aries. We may find that new information is coming at us fast and furious now and we may need some extra time to digest everything. Too, Mercury-Uranus can make our nerves a little more jittery as Uranus has more of a high-strung quality to it and Mercury rules the nervous system. With that said, we are also potentially more capable of flashes of brilliance and originality today as Uranus govern both genius and intuition.

Do you think you are intuitive? How about brilliant? Had any bright ideas this past week?

“If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bull.” W.C. Fields 🙂

In The News: On the eve of Mercury exactly square Uranus today, United Airlines reportedly grounded all inbound and outbound flights on Friday night for a while due to a computer problem. United airlines passengers were said to have been stranded at airports for at least five hours.  Unfortunately, on the shadow side, Mercury-Uranus has a legacy of disrupting (Uranus) communications (Mercury). Uranus also governs both the aviation industry and computers. Mercury rules travel.

Enjoy your Saturday! Hope you have some “aha” moments, but no flight delays or computer glitches. 🙂

Astrology March 20, 2011: “Spring Equinox,” Sun in Aries, Charles Lindbergh

COSMIC WEATHER:

“Be willing to be a beginner every single morning.” Meister Eckhart

Today is the “spring equinox.” The official start of the astrological “new year,” when the Sun ingresses into “Aries the Ram,” the sign of new beginnings (7:21 pm EDT). In astrology, the “empowering” Sun symbolically represents our “core” or “center” around which everything else revolves. It is our deep “sense of self.”

The keywords for Aries are “I am.” On a personal level, this sign is all about discovering who we are as distinct creatures apart from the pack. It’s about reveling being in our own skin. Excitedly making our humble, unique contribution to the planet.

The Sun joins Mercury (thinking), Jupiter (opportunity), and Uranus (genius) already stationed in Aries. Too, almost as soon as the Sun enters Aries it conjuncts “awakening” Uranus (tomorrow), the electrifying “poster child” for change and innovation.

“Liberating” Uranus also rules aviation and the very last time we had the Sun nearing Uranus at the early part of “pioneering” Aries, back on March 21, 1928, is when aviator Charles Lindbergh was presented his “Medal of Honor” for his first trans-Atlantic flight. When we think of how aviation has drastically altered (Uranus) civilization on this planet, “freed us up” in many ways, we can glean a fresh awareness of the unlimited possibilities that exist before us, both individually and collectively, with this game-changing, (Uranus in Aries) inventive energy at our disposal. Uranus, of course, also rules technology. Too, most of the time, the only real limits that we ever face are the “self-limiting beliefs” that we impose upon ourselves.

“The real gold is what you are.” Alan Cohen

“If we long to believe that the stars rise and set for us, that we are the reason there is a Universe, does science do us a disservice in deflecting our conceits?” Carl Sagan.

Uranus Goes Direct in Pisces December 5, 2010

“Failure is not fatal, but failure to change might be.” John Wooden

The “radical change” planet Uranus stations direct in Pisces on December 5, 2010, after nearly a 5-month retrograde period. Uranus rules aviation, innovation,  revolution, technology, and scientific achievement. Uranus characteristically acts to “accelerate” or “quicken the pace” of events in our lives, both individually and collectively.

On a personal level, Uranus pertains to our “urge for individuality,” or need to “differentiate” ourselves from others. It also speaks to our “desire for freedom” or “liberation” from authority figures or restrictive situations. It frequently acts as kind of a “loose cannon,” symbolizing the “problem child” lurking inside each of us, who only wants to be a law unto himself.

Uranus additionally denotes our “intuition” or “sudden flashes” of insight. It is associated with “strokes of genius.”

Uranus spends approximately 7 years in each of the astrological signs, so after it leaves Pisces for Aries in March 2011, it will not be back in this sign for another 84 years.

Neptune-ruled Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac, signifies our “spiritual urge” or “desire for transcendence.” It governs our charitable and compassionate instincts, and our more ego-denying impulses. Pisces also correlates with fantasy and our imagination, having domain over our creative impulses.

It could be that with Uranus direct, once again, in Pisces, that we have an excellent chance, the next few months, to make notable progress regarding our spiritual path, perhaps experience new revelations.  Yoga, meditation, and prayer may be more potent now as avenues for accelerating our inner guidance and insight.

We may also want to pay closer attention to our dreams and, if we’re not doing so already, start keeping a dream journal, as Pisces rules dreams and the subconscious and Uranus can be a sudden  “awakening agent” here. It should also be an excellent time for psychic development, with Uranus ruling intuition.

Uranus additionally governs astrology. It may also be a good time to get more involved with this study, as a way of opening ourselves up to higher wisdom and self-knowledge.

On a personal note: One thing that I enjoy doing, in a bid to cultivate my own ESP, is to periodically sit down in the evening with a magazine and, with my eyes closed, while running my hands over the pages, I try to “read” the pages.  I specifically try to pick up pictures or images on the pages, or see if I can psychically glean the general theme of the page, or at least get a feel for any colors.  It’s a fun thing to do, and the results can be pretty amazing. At least this has been the case for me. This is something I’ve done for over 20 years. Maybe others may want to try doing the same thing now, with intuitive Uranus stationing direct in psychic Pisces.

Too, our creativity and artistic leanings (Pisces) could be primed for a big boost now with Uranus direct. Included here might be film-making, photography, writing, painting, music, songwriting, dance, poetry. It may be that immersion into “creative-type expression” serves as a liberating agent (Uranus) for us.

Of course, perhaps the most noble and worthwhile thing that we could all do with Uranus stationing direct in “selfless” Pisces is to become more involved in humanistic causes. Maybe do more volunteering. Or find other ways, maybe novel new ways (Uranus), of giving back to our communities, and to the planet.

Historically, on a collective level, the last time Uranus turned direct in Pisces, before entering Aries for seven years, was back in December of 1927. It stationed direct on December 10th that year.

Interestingly, on December 8, 1927, Valdimir Shatalov was born in Petrapavlovsk. He would later become a Russian cosmonaut (Uranian-ruled profession). Shatalov flew three space missions of the Soyuz programme.  Then, from 1971 to 1987, he was Commander of Cosmonaut Training, and Director of the Cosmonaut Training Centre from then until 1991.

Also, on December 12, 1927, Robert Norton Norce was born in Burlington, Iowa. He would eventually be nicknamed the “Mayor of Silicon Valley.” He co-founded Fairchild Semiconductor in 1957 and Intel in 1968 (Uranus rules technology).  Norce  is credited with the invention of the integrated circuit or microchip, along with Jack Kilby.

Maybe history will also repeat itself now.  Perhaps a few more, “high-level” Uranian types, will be incarnating to our planet in the near term, to eventually propel us all forward in a positive, accelerated manner.

Too, with Uranus stationing direct now, we may also want to pay closer attention to the news headlines, the next few days. Especially look for breaking news regarding insurrections, rebel causes (Juan Assange), and technological (the internet) and scientific advances or developments. Also, news about outer space or “the great beyond.” Also, we may want to monitor news of a more ‘spiritual’ or ‘religious’ nature (Pisces).

It should also be noted here that when we have a change of motion with a planet, in this case Uranus stationing direct from, the influence is felt for a few days before and a few days after the turnaround.

COSMIC WEATHER:

Moon continues in Earthy, Sensual Taurus. And, with four planets in Sexy Scorpio, including the Love Duo of Venus and Mars, it may be a good time to lounge around the boudoir and perfect our intimate night moves. Even in the daytime!

What’s also cool here is Mars (which rules sex) is exactly trine Uranus, the planet of Originality.  Uranus is also in Fantasy-Minded Pisces. There’s no way we can lose now.  All we have to do is be a little original!

I have also listed down below, different events that have occurred in recent years, with Mars-Uranus.  This is a time when we want to change things up. Be willing to get out of our box. Look at our lives in new ways.  Even making minor changes today may serve us well in the long run.

Activities Spotlighted Today: Boating, fishing, dancing, research, studying astrology (Uranus rules astrology), meditation, treasure-hunting, reviewing insurance and financial matters, theater, music, painting, sculpting, ceramics, romance, gardening, baking, massage, facials.

On This Date In History:

October 24, 1901: Anna Taylor becomes the first woman in history to go over Niagara Falls in a barrel. The Moon was in Sea-Ruling Pisces. The Sun had also just entered Resourceful Scorpio and was exactly trine Neptune (the ruler of Pisces), making it an ideal time for aquatic activities.  Neptune and Pisces both rule boating and, I guess, in this case, a barrel qualifies as a form of navigation on the water.

Another aspect I love here is Venus, ruling women, was in adventurous Sagittarius, and exactly conjunct Experimental Uranus. Venus also represents our hobbies and pastimes, what we enjoy doing in our free time for recreation. On Venus-Uranus days, we often are in the mood to “try new pleasures.” Uranus also has a need for originality, and putting its personal stamp on everything. Way to go, Anna! Better you than me.

In the News:

Almost 400,000 classified field reports from the Iraqi War were released by Wikileaks on Friday, the same day we had the Full Moon in Aries.  Aries rules war and the military; full moons bring illumination.

Mars (ruler of Aries) in Investigative Scorpio was also applying to an exact trine to Rebel Uranus in Behind the Scenes Pisces, when the disclosure was made, probably another factor in helping to bring the hidden (classified) information to the forefront. Uranus can bring “sudden new developments,” and aligned with Mars, these developments can center around the war and military. Several U.S. officials have condemned the leaks including Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Some other notable events with Mars trine Uranus in the recent past:

1) Oct 29, 2008 – Delta Airlines merged with Northwest Airlines forming the world’s largest commercial air carrier. Mars was in Scorpio (the sign of joint resources) and trine to Uranus in Pisces (just like now). (Uranus rules aviation, Pisces is the sign that dissolves borders. Mars blazes new trails.)

2) Nov 4, 2008 – Mars in Scorpio separating 2 degrees from a trine to Uranus in Pisces: Barrack Obama is elected President of the U.S. Mars in Scorpio is transformational and Uranus is the planet of change.  Obama ran on a “platform of change.”

3) May 17, 2004 – Mars in Familial Cancer trine Uranus in Pisces: Massachusetts legalizes same-sex marriage in compliance with a ruling from the state’s Supreme Judicial Court (Goodridge v. Department of Public Health).  Mars rules sex and Uranus is associated with equality. Frequently when gay rights issues are in the news, Uranus’ ray is prominent.

4) November 25, 2002 – U.S. President George W. Bush signs the Homeland Security Act into law, creating the Department of Homeland Security, in the largest U.S. government reorganization since the Department of Defense was created in 1947. Mars was in Judicial Libra trine Uranus in Experimental Aquarius.

Mars rules defense and the military.  It also rules the aggressive urge.  With the “animalistic” side of Mars, we are more concerned with basic self-preservation issues. Mars-Uranus makes us more amenable to making sweeping changes, trying new things out. Also at the time, Expansive Jupiter was in Leadership Leo exactly sextile to Transforming Pluto in Patriotic Sagittarius. With Jupiter-Pluto we are looking to expand our range of control. Sagittarius adds more of a zealotry to whatever we are doing.  It also rules politics and our moral beliefs.  Pluto’s ray is often activated with respect to issues of terrorism and subversive groups, and the Homeland Security department was largely a response to 9/11.

5) June 5, 2000 – 405 The Move, the first short film widely distributed on the Internet, is released.  Mars was in Communicative Gemini trine Uranus in Aquarius.  Uranus rules the internet. (Mercury was also exactly quinqunx Neptune in Aquarius, with Neptune ruling films.)

“She suspected him of infidelity, with and without reason, morning, noon and night.” Ada Leverson

What a week!

My Crystal Ball is plum wiped out.  I think I’m going to have to change the water in it.  It just feels stagnant and deficient and it’s lack of clarity is starting to metaphysically bum me out.

It also looks like it’s beginning to turn an ugly shade of green again. Hold on a moment.  Let me put my bifocals on to make sure.

Oh my gosh, it is! That bright green Kool-Aid color is rapidly returning to the bowl. This is not a good sign people.

It can only mean one thing: Neptune is on the prowl again!

Oh, no! We must all take cover and we must do it now, otherwise we may all be forced to eat Neptune’s rotten cooking and hear him tell a pack of never-ending conversational lies at the Sunday dinner table.

But wait! The Crystal Ball is also showing me that Neptune in Aquarius  has gone ahead and already captured Love Goddess Venus in food-sign Cancer and they’re fighting over his cooking and her internet recipes. And Neptune’s holding Venus in that embarrassing, contorted quinqunx position, which I refuse to look at because it’s way too vulgar for my taste. Too much salt. They’re also going to have to drink lots and lots of water afterwards and that’s going to make them have to pee like there’s no tomorrow.

Ladies, what all this boils down to is you must hold on to your man for dear life today.  Make sure he’s tied down, so he doesn’t roam. Only untie him if he’s willing to help you with the vacuuming and dishes. Even then, keep a very close eye on him and also insist that if he misses any dust balls, it’s back in the cage.

Guys, make sure that you don’t find a way to get loose from the restriction and pull some low down, illicit shenanigans on your woman.  If you do, mark my word, you’ll be toast. Toast! You won’t even be allowed vacuum privileges anymore. Do you hear me loud and clear?

Good.

If you’re single and you’re looking for romance today, all I can say is, tread very carefully. Make sure you do a thorough screening on anyone you meet and this includes FBI fingerprinting and collecting urine samples. Venus-Neptune is ripe for illusion, delusion, deception, and all matters of flatulence and gas from going out with the wrong people.

Other than the Venus-Neptune craziness, we have the emotional Moon now in nesting, nurturing Cancer, which favors all sorts of delightful activities on the home front, such as raiding the refrigerator on the hour. Or, perhaps you may want to consider erecting a sleek, cool bomb shelter in the basement for your spouse or significant other to play in.

Fun, wholesome activities with our families, that’s what we want to be immersing ourselves in now.  Always, too, with the Cancer Moon, security issues loom larger, hence the psychological need and overwhelming desire to tie down our partners, lest they escape from our clutches and cause major problems for the collective.

In the News: Pilots for the low-cost American carrier Spirit Airlines went on strike Saturday.  This strike action comes on the heels of inflammatory Mars moving through the work sign of Virgo and separating from a rebellious quinqunx (challenging aspect) to aviation ruler Uranus and gung-ho Jupiter in fiery, defiant Aries.

News Update: A massive effort is underway to clean up the damage left behind when a Chevron pipeline leaked up to 21,000 gallons of oil into Salt Lake City waterways Saturday. Harsh Taskmaster Saturn is exactly quinqunx again to Neptune, ruler of oil and water.  Saturn is also in Virgo, the sign associated with cleanups. The Lord of Karma is certainly giving our cleanup muscles quite a work out as of late and it’s all revolving around oil and water (Neptune). Additionally, Venus is involved here with an exact quinqunx to Neptune, adding fuel to the quinqunx aspect, so to speak, both literally and symbolically.

Event in History on this date: On June 13, 1967, Thurgood Marshall was nominated as the 1st black Supreme Court justice. In the sky that day, transiting Mercury, governing thinking and decisions, was in nurturing Cancer, and exactly square to pioneering Mars in Libra, the sign that rules the Supreme Court.

Usually with strong Mars aspects, there are new beginnings and new developments for the sign in which Mars is transiting through. Squares also force action.

The transiting Sun in idea Gemini, too, was coming off of a square to both Uranus and Pluto conjunct in introspective Virgo, further suggesting the collective would be grappling with some kind of transformational (Pluto) changes (Uranus) that could also involve matters of equality (Uranus).

June 13 Birthdays: Mary-Kate Olsen, John Nash.

Cosmic Word of The Day: Philanderer.

Enjoy your Sunday! Don’t fool around!
