COSMIC WATCH:

Even though the Moon remains in self-assertive Aries, during the daytime, there is also a dreamy aspect to the energy today as mental Mercury trines imaginative Neptune, our formal portal to unseen worlds and mystifying experiences. Also the Moon herself is making a sextile to Neptune (6:14 pm EDT). Neptune’s prominence can help to make us more conciliatory and forgiving, more willing to overlook transgressions and flaws, as Neptune governs both our sense of compassion and our spiritual inklings. This planet characteristically poises us to want to see the best in others, which can, of course, also translate into our being a little more vulnerable now.

This is also a great day to be creative with words (Mercury) and our overall self-expression. Many artists, performers, songwriters, painters, and poets, have Neptune strong in their charts. For example, former Beatle, Paul McCartney, was born with Neptune exactly conjunct his Ascendant. Elvis Presley had Neptune near his Midheaven (career house).

Later, Luna shifts into earthy Taurus (9:35 pm EDT). Correspondingly, that is also the time when we must sadly descend from the Neptunian clouds and bid our fond adieu to the heavenly angels, who were nice enough to take us under their cocooning wings for a while to offer us some measure of safe harbour and uplifting refuge from our mundane, everyday lives.

“The golden moments in the stream of life rush past us and we see nothing but sand; the angels come to visit us, and we only know them when they are gone.” George Eliot

Enjoy your Wednesday!

COSMIC WATCH:

“An essential aspect of creativity is not being afraid to fail.” Edwin Land

The New Moon in “colorful” Leo the Lion (2:40 pm EDT) is a call for us to be creative and unabashedly share what is inside our  hearts. Leo is the sign of flowering self-expression and fun and entertainment. It also rules romance, hobbies, and children, treasured aspects of our lives that can bring us untold joy.

Today’s lunation is also “extra pleasurable” because it conjuncts sweet Venus, the official procurer of love and beauty, deepening evermore our desire to connect or bond with others. Venus is also trine to electrifying Uranus, the freedom-loving planet of change and originality, with this aspect helping to broker more spontaneity in our feelings. Venus-Uranus tends to free us from our hang-ups or inhibitions. It can also usher in sudden infatuation and liberating or unusual social experiences.

The Moon’s square to indulgent Jupiter in earthy Taurus also reinforces our ravenous appetite for life’s tray of delights, although it also raises a red flag of caution about squandering our resources or going to excess. Optimistic Jupiter can be a bit of a gambler, often willing to risk all of his tidy earnings to date for whatever is magically lurking behind door number three, hoping to double or triple his lot. Of course, we all know that sometimes that strategy can regrettably backfire on us.

“If you must play, decide upon three things at the start: the rules of the game, the stakes, and the quitting time.”  Chinese Proverb

Happy New Moon blessings! Enjoy your Saturday.

Astrology June 22, 2011: Mars Square Fishy Neptune

COSMIC WATCH:

“The gift of fantasy has meant more to me than my talent for absorbing positive knowledge.” Albert Einstein, a Pisces Sun.

Fantasy Neptune, ruler of our imagination and also the urge for escape, is captaining our ‘good ship lollipop’ today in oceanic Pisces. This is because not only do we have a Neptune-ruled, dreamy Pisces Moon all day, we also have the Sun in nesting Cancer trining inspirational Neptune. And, energizer Mars in idea Gemini is squaring Neptune.

With Neptune’s illusory ray so prominent now it is much easier for us to “go adrift,” so we need to be extra mindful about holding ourselves accountable with respect to whatever it is that we want to accomplish today. Although, at the same time, it may also be wise for us not to stack too much on our plates, if we can. Especially work that calls for strict attention to details or facts and figures.

Too, we do have the Pisces Moon void of course all day, so it is best to stick with old projects instead of undertaking anything new. We also are encouraged to focus our energies on more creative venues (film, photography, painting, dance, poetry). Immersion in more spiritual or mystical pursuits also serves us well now, as Neptune is our portal to Divine forces.

Also, if something seems a little fishy to us today, chances are good that it is and we may need to arm ourselves with a healthy dose of skepticism. Neptune, on the shadow side, characteristically has a way of pulling the proverbial wool over our eyes. It is the planet that is formally linked with deception, either self-deception or deception from others (con men). It is also tied with scandal and weird incidents in general (especially the Mars square Neptune aspect). Often the kind of strange stuff that we hear about, that has us scratching our heads, wondering what in the world a person was thinking? Neptune’s classic calling card. 🙂

In the News: President Obama is reportedly planning on addressing the nation tonight from the White House to discuss his plan for the withdrawal of armed forces from Afghanistan, something which is quite fascinating from an astrological standpoint, as we have Mars, governing war and the military, exactly square to Neptune which tends to act as a dissolving agent (diminishing the troop strength in this instance). Neptune is, in fact, known as the “Great Dissolver.”

From research I have done over the years, too, Neptune’s ray often figures prominently in historic peace efforts and treaty signings, reflective perhaps of Neptune’s overriding desire for “oneness,” or for a unified world “without division.”

One more thing. Gotta’ love this “fishy” Neptunian headline in the news today: “Chinese Find 55-foot sea monster!” Reportedly, the “sea monster” washed up on a beach in Guangdong, China. It’s decaying body weighed in at 4.5 tons. Unfortunately, the decomposition was too advanced to ID the remains.

Enjoy your Wednesday! But, be careful about drinking too much of the hallucinatory, Neptunian “Kool-Aid.” Don’t want you to have a hangover. Always trying to do our best to look out for you here. 🙂

Astrology May 22, 2011: “Feet Not On The Ground” Sun Square Neptune

COSMIC WATCH:

“Don’t part with your illusions. When they are gone you may still exist, but you have ceased to live.” Mark Twain

This insightful Mark Twain quote may be of some temporary consolation to us today as we grapple with the psychedelic impact of illusionist Neptune, in “permanently out to sea” Pisces, exactly square to the brightly lit Sun in “talk therapy” Gemini.

“Father, please forgive us in advance, for what we say and do today. We haven’t a clue. Amen.” 🙂

Veiled, dissolving Neptune governs our urge for fantasy or escape. When its ray is activated, our feet seem to “not be on the ground.” We are wanting to flee the real world for “other realms,” including the world of our own, sometimes scary imagination, which Neptune presides over. With Sun-Neptune it is easier for us to be confused, bewildered, or bewitched.

Too, with this aspect, we are often unable to maintain healthy boundaries around us and we are more prone to letting in questionable elements that could serve to undermine us in some way. That is why we need to be a bit more wary of what is around us today and especially be on guard against deceptive (Neptune) forces. If something seems a little weird to us, chances are that it’s only the “tip of the iceberg” and we need to run immediately for cover. The thing is about Neptune’s pull, too, is that it often glamorizes things that are really not good for us (Neptune rules drugs and alcohol).

Of course, it is true that we still have the Moon in analytical Aquarius, which normally can help us to detach from our vulnerabilities and navigate things objectively, although the Moon is also pummeling the likes of “relationship” Venus (2:12 pm EDT), “defensive” Mars (2:46 pm EDT), and “logical” Mercury (5:53 pm EDT), making it potentially more challenging for us to relate to others logically and with a healthy sensitivity. Thankfully, though, the Moon will make a harmonious trine to “safe harbor” Saturn in “peace preserving” Libra by day’s end (7:01 pm EDT). And, not to be overlooked, Venus, Mars and Mercury are still in “rock solid” Taurus, also boding well for our prospects of being able to successfully parachute back “down to earth.”

Interestingly, cute Beatle, Paul McCartney, was born with his Sun in Gemini in his tenth house of career exactly square to dreamy Neptune in workhorse Virgo. Neptune is also exactly conjoined Paul’s Virgo Ascendant, with the Ascendant being the window in which one views the world. Paul is a perfect example of how to effectively channel Neptune’s more imaginative ray to one’s own advantage, by being able to fully immerse himself into the world of his own creativity and also become a billionaire in the process. Neptune also rules music.

Beyond that, Paul, and the Beatles, actually served as a conduit to facilitate much of the planet’s immersion into “Neptune’s whimsical realms”  through their floodgate of  music, thereby freeing us from the prosaic drone of our daily lives. They acted as a Neptunian narcotic, in many ways, enlisting us as Sgt. Pepper band members as a surefire way of escape (Neptune).

Paul also has his initiating, pioneering Mars tightly conjunct focused Pluto in entertainment Leo providing him with obsessive drive and natural-born desire for self-expression and showmanship (his Moon is also in Leo). Right now, we also have Mars, Venus and Mercury in tangible, artistic Taurus trining Pluto in ambitious Capricorn, somewhat of an equivalent form of energy here, in addition to the “magical, mystery tour” invitation of today’s Sun square Neptune.

COSMIC WEATHER:

“All charming people, I fancy, are spoiled. It is the secret of their attraction.” Oscar Wilde

The late Elizabeth Taylor and the late Johnny Cash (born just a day apart) both had their Venus (ruling love, beauty, creativity, and power of attraction) exactly conjunct high-voltage Uranus (urge for individuality) in self-expressive Aries. The Venus-Uranus conjunction is often the hallmark of charismatic individuals with unique talents and gifts (and often striking appearances). We have this very same aspect today in Aries for the first time in over 75 years (10:29 pm EDT).

This Venus-Uranus influence can also make us crave more emotional excitement in our relationships and also in our pleasurable pursuits (ruled by Venus). Too, we are possibly more inclined to forge ties (Venus) with more non-conforming (Uranus) types, or to people we normally would not be attracted to. Venus-Uranus is also known for having sympathy for those who are perceived as “underdogs,” and this aspect often figures in prominently with the emergence of “gay rights” issues in the news.

Additionally, Venus-Uranus has a legacy of spawning “sudden infatuations” and instant “electrifying” relationships. Interestingly, John Lennon and Paul McCartney also met on a day when Venus was conjunct Uranus in entertainment Leo. Of course, we all know what transpired from that union. So, today could be filled with a lot of exciting possibilities for us, if we mingle. Too, this is a fantastic aspect for any creative endeavors.

Meanwhile, the Moon enters ambitious Capricorn (6:26 am EDT) today, kindling our desire to get ahead on the career front. The Moon’s square to rebel Uranus (10:34 am EDT), however, could create some fallout for us, if we try to rock the boat too much. Also, if we are too greedy for power, we could encounter some opposition when the Moon conjuncts controlling Pluto (7:52 pm EDT). At the same time, however, this aspect could be a potent time for networking, as Pluto can denote important “movers and shakers.”

Too, with the Venus-Uranus influence exact today, we may want to consider “altering our appearance,” such as maybe trying out a new hairstyle, or adding more pizzaz to our wardrobe (perhaps something ‘electric blue’ for Uranus).

Famous Birthdays April 22: Jack Nicholson (74), Glen Campbell (75).

Happy Earth Day! Enjoy your weekend!

Patrice Astrology February 17, 2011: Sun Conjunct Neptune Daily Horoscope

COSMIC WEATHER:

“All men have need of the gods.” Homer

The empowering Sun conjuncts mystical Neptune. We have a desire to transcend the mundane in our search for deeper meaning. We are also more willing to let our ego needs take a backseat to the needs of others. Neptune is linked with self-sacrifice, even martyrdom. It also rules compassion, as well as our imagination. The keywords for Neptune are: “Serve or suffer.”

Meanwhile, the Moon remains in self-expressive Leo (gearing up for the Full Moon on Friday).  Perhaps by helping to raise others up (Neptune in Aquarius), we discover that we also shine (Leo) in the process.

“Only a life lived for others is worth living.” Albert Einstein.

A note of caution: The shadow side of Sun-Neptune tends to put us “in a fog.” It is often harder to see things clearly. We are also more prone to deception (either from self or others), and disillusionment. So we may want to keep more of a detached air about us, and stay more focused on facts rather than fantasy.

On a collective level, too, Sun-Neptune has historically been associated with “extremism” or “fanaticism,” especially religious fanaticism. This is mainly because with Sun-Neptune, we often feel that we are carrying out a “higher agenda” and therefore possiby assume that we have carte blanche to do whatever we feel we need to do in order to further our perceived noble causes. Neptune also rules persecution. It additionally represents groups that are disenfranchised or otherwise somehow down on their luck.

With that said, this is highly creative energy, today and tomorrow, especially with the theatrical Leo Moon also at play. Too, Neptune rules visual images. Our ability for positive visualization is, therefore, very keen now. We may also want to pay closer attention to our Neptune-ruled dreams for pivotal clues to our subconscious meanderings.

“All the things one has forgotten scream for help in dreams.” Elias Canetti

Neptune’s colors are turquoise, green, and magenta. To tune into Neptune’s meditative ray, we may want to wear and or surround ourselves now with these colors. Also, we might consider burning incense and putting on soft, soothing music. Creating a more contemplative environment in our homes. Water therapy is also ideal, as Neptune rules liquids, gels, and the sea. Given that the Moon is also in entertaining Leo, we may want to take in a play or movie, or attend a concert.

Famous Birthdays February 17th: Michael Jordan (48), Paris Hilton (30), Gene Pitney (would have been 71)

“Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.” Michael Jordan

Mental Mercury in professionally attired Capricorn forms a cool 72-degree link-up (quintile) with innovative Uranus in imaginative Pisces. We also have the social, romantic Libra Moon harmoniously trine inspirational Neptune, the ruler of Pisces (5:05 pm EST). We are able to formulate creative visual images (Neptune), original ideas. Things just flow, if we let them. Excellent day for any projects that require the full use of our imagination (poetry, songwriting, film-making, photography, dancing, art).

Later, the feminine Moon slips into “something sexy” when she enters passionate Scorpio (9:16 pm EST). Turn the lights down low tonight. Find somebody to love. Forget about old fart Saturn getting ready to station retrograde in matrimonial Libra. Make him wait with his torture! Tonight’s the night, babe! Everything’s gonna be alright. “Saturn, find somebody to lasso in with those sexy rings of yours, bro!” 🙂

“I can’t understand why people are frightened of new ideas. I’m frightened of the old ones.” John Cage

Cosmic Weather:

The Moon exits contemplative Pisces for pioneering Aries (10:24 am EST). A time when we want to be starting something new and exciting in our lives. We also have intellectual Mercury, in enthusiastic Sagittarius, square to non-conforming Uranus, the planet of sudden change, which is in idealistic Pisces. This potent aspect tends to foster the formation of more radical ideas, or radical thinking. The nature of Uranus is generally more rebellious. Uranus likes to play the devil’s advocate, too. Mercury-Uranus can confer brilliance upon us. Uranus characteristically speeds up our thinking. But, at the same time, it can also be a more mentally unstable and erratic time for us, as we get these instant revelations and then suddenly they’re gone. It could be that we want to avoid making snap decisions, and also hold off acting on any of our sudden, genius insights, for a few days. Wait until they have had some time to distill or gel.

Additionally, we have Mercury sextile to mystic guru Neptune, with Neptune ruling our link to the divine and also our psychic ability. This aspect may generate more of an intellectual desire to seek out more spiritually-based activities. Perhaps we may want to read more inspirational material, or books on psychic development. Or, try psychic experiments, which is something that I personally love to do. Neptune also rules our dreams, so this is an ideal time for paying closer attention to our dreams now, and trying to unravel their magical symbolism. Dreams can often foretell our future, if we are but able to glean their meaning. Dream study is also a great way, in general, for staying connected with our subconscious, or what’s going on below the surface of our conscious awareness.

I remember, years ago, I had a very vivid dream about boarding a train in my home town. On this train, I met a man, and rode with him for the duration of the train ride, which seemed to last forever. At the end of the dream, however, that man stayed on the train, but I got off of it. When I woke up from that dream, I intuitively immediately knew that I was going to be “meeting a man” soon in my waking life. Well, within a week, I met my husband! But, it wasn’t on a train. It was in a radio station in my home town. I was on the air doing a call-in astrology show. My life – my personal journey – of course, changed forever, when I met Daniel, and we did, indeed, embark on an extended “life trip” with each other for twenty years, until his early death from cancer. Our relationship also ended up permanently taking me away, geographically, from my birthplace, as the two of us eventually settled far away from where I was born. I was thinking this morning, too, how in the dream, I got off the train by myself, perhaps indicating that my real life journey would later include living without my husband physically by my side. BTW, years ago, I did do intuitive dream interpretation on the radio with listeners, when I had my own radio show.

Neptune additionally governs our imagination and creativity. This influence should considerably help to elevate or boost our creativity, and also help with our powers of visualization. Excellent day for any creative writing project (Mercury rules words), especially with the simultaneous Mercury-Uranus aspect, which can provide us with unique, original insights, along with a good measure of quirky thoughts, which can also sometimes be kind of cool. Neptune also rules imagery, so it’s a fantastic day for painting or photography.

On a personal note, as I mentioned several days ago, I am going to be changing some things with my blog, this year. While I have enjoyed writing the daily horoscopes, I am going to begin doing them on a weekly basis instead. I want more time to focus on other writing projects for a while. Also, there’s the matter of making more time, hopefully, for a life with George Clooney in 2011. Ever the optimist here! 🙂  Too, I still plan on writing special articles on the lunations, planets changing signs, etc. here.

The BBC would later end up banning one of the songs from it, “A Day In The Life” out of reported concern over a supposed drug reference in the song, “I’d love to turn you on…”

On 11/24/66 the Moon was in fiery, pioneering Aries. Also, adding to the level of excitement that day: The illuminating Sun and Creative Venus were affectionately conjunct in storytelling Sagittarius, harmoniously trined to lucky, expansive Jupiter in showman Leo, the sign of entertainment.

Enterprising Mars, the ruler of trailblazing Aries, was in perfectionist Virgo and exactly conjunct “inventive genius” Uranus. Mars and Uranus were additionally in a close conjunction to transforming Pluto in Virgo.

So we had a cool host of intense, game-changing influences for the collective, in effect.

Ambitious Saturn, too, often billed as the “Lord of Karma,” was in Imaginative Pisces, the sign which rules music, and in an exact flowing trine to mystical, psychedelic Neptune (Neptune rules drugs).  Neptune is also the planetary ruler of Pisces. Of course, Sgt. Pepper had a very mystical, psychedelic theme to it. Drug Kingpin Neptune was also hanging out in revamping Scorpio at the time, maybe part of the reason why so many were trying to find “psychic redemption” then through mind-altering drugs.

Too, Neptune rules our dreams and fantasies, and when aligned favorably with “karma rewards king” Saturn, we often see the manifestation of our dreams (creativity) coming true. We are better able to give tangible form and shape (Saturn) to the products of our imagination (Neptune) i.e. through songwriting, poetry, painting, etc.

Traditionalist and status quo preserver Saturn in dreamy Pisces was also opposite the rebellious and personally liberating Mars, Uranus, and Pluto conjunction, delineating the general angst that was going on in the collective then among the new ‘hippie” generation for radical change and the older generation of yesteryear.  This angst was, of course, also artistically woven in a masterful way into the fabric of Sgt Pepper and even evident on the unique cover of the record album which was very original (Uranus), spacey and psychedelic (Neptune), and a likely game-changer (Pluto) for the music industry.

COSMIC WEATHER:

The Moon continues in grounding, sensual Taurus. We also have four planets in steamy, sultry Scorpio now – including the passionate love duo of Venus and Mars!

Additionally, motivating Mars is harmoniously trine to change agent Uranus – the perceived planet of originality and innovation – ideally helping us to view or restructure our lives in ways that feel more liberating. Even making minor changes now may serve us well, in the long run, as we are essentially building in more adaptability skills to leverage in the future.

I have also listed down below, different events that have occurred in recent years, with Mars-Uranus.

Activities Spotlighted Today: Boating, fishing, dancing, research, studying astrology (Uranus rules astrology), meditation, treasure-hunting, reviewing insurance and financial matters, theater, music, painting, sculpting, ceramics, romance, gardening, baking, massage, facials.

On This Date In History:

October 24, 1901: Anna Taylor becomes the first woman in history to go over Niagara Falls in a barrel. At the time of this feat, the Moon was passing through aquatic Pisces; the Sun had also just entered the resourceful/life or death sign of Scorpio and was exactly trine to Neptune.  Neptune and Pisces both rule boating – and in this case – barreling! Additionally, that day, Venus – governing women – was conjunct out-of-the-box (but in the barrel!) Uranus in adventurous Sagittarius. 🙂

In the News:

Almost 400,000 classified field reports from the Iraqi War were released by Wikileaks on Friday, the same day we had the Full Moon in Aries.  Aries rules war and the military. Full moons tend to deliver illuminations/revelations/final results.

Mars – the ruler of Aries – was also in investigative Scorpio and applying to an exact trine to disruptive rebel Uranus in hidden, behind-the-scenes Pisces.

Some other notable events with Mars trine Uranus in the recent past:

1) Oct 29, 2008 – Delta Airlines merged with Northwest Airlines forming the world’s largest commercial air carrier. At the time, Mars was also deposited in transformational Scorpio and trine to aviation-ruling Uranus in Pisces.

2) Nov 4, 2008 – Barrack Obama is elected President of the U.S. Mars in Scorpio was separating 2 degrees from another trine to Uranus in Pisces.  Obama ran on a “platform of change (Uranus).”

3) May 17, 2004 – Massachusetts legalizes same-sex marriage in compliance with a ruling from the state’s Supreme Judicial Court (Goodridge v. Department of Public Health). Mars is in the home and family-oriented sign of Cancer trine Uranus in Pisces. Mars rules, among other things, sexuality matters, and Uranus is often predominant with issues of equality.

4) November 25, 2002 – U.S. President George W. Bush signs the Homeland Security Act into law, creating the Department of Homeland Security, in the largest U.S. government reorganization since the Department of Defense was created in 1947.

Mars – ruling defense, the military, and self-preservation – was in Libra, which governs justice and the law, and trine to Uranus in collective-ruling Aquarius. Also at the time, expansive Jupiter was in leadership Leo and sextile to transforming Pluto in Sagittarius, the sign associated with foreign policy matters. Pluto’s ray is often paired with terrorism/subversive groups; the Homeland Security department was largely a response to 9/11.
