Cosmic Weather:

“Some people believe holding on and hanging in there are signs of great strength. However, there are times when it takes much more strength to know when to let go and then do it.” Ann Landers

We live in a culture in which ‘having more’ is often automatically deemed better than ‘having less.’ So virtually anytime there’s a perceived chance that what we have or possess is thought to be at possible risk of loss our immediate response is normally to do whatever it takes to keep what we have firmly in our clutches. No matter that what we might be clinging to may be long expired!

That’s why, perhaps, in a left-handed way, we should maybe all be kind of ‘jumping for joy’ today because Pluto, the planet of exit doors and elimination, is stationing retrograde at 23 degrees of utilitarian Capricorn (2:45 pm). Whenever a planet stations, its energy is thought to be more potent that day. Meaning, we could possibly be getting clearer signs now of what should be pitched or trashed in our lives, for our own good.

Okay, in some cases, we may be able to get clearance to perform salvage operations or just do some creative refurbishing/reworking of existing elements and call it a day. In other words, not have to go through the heartbreak of experiencing a total wipeout or implosion! 🙂 Pluto is, after all, also a great ‘turnaround genius’ or ‘re-birthing agent.’

Too, on another level, it may be worthwhile or interesting now to simply study or observe the vast trail of waste that we are characteristically generating/leaving behind. What might that cryptic wagon train say or reveal about us? About how we are maybe managing/mismanaging our daily operations/resources? Where we may also possibly be overextended, as Pluto governs debt and indebtedness.

Transformational Pluto will be retrograde in Capricorn until October 3, when it will be turning direct at 20 degrees of the sign. Since Capricorn is also the sign that specifically governs career, government, and big business, there’s a chance now, and for the next few months, that we’ll be experiencing a type of ‘crisis of consciousness’ in those areas in particular. Perhaps becoming more aware of the ‘bugs in the systems’ that we’ve built – and what to do about them.

“In the oddity or maybe the miracle of life, the roots of something new frequently lie in the decaying husks of something old.” Craig D. Lounsbrough

Famous April 24 Birthdays: Vincent De Paul, Shirley MacLaine, Jill Ireland, Barbra Streisand, Kelly Clarkson

“I arrived in Hollywood without having my nose fixed, my teeth capped, or my name changed. That is very gratifying to me.” Barbra Streisand

On This Day in History: On April 24, 1888, Eastman Kodak was founded by George Eastman. Astrologically, at the time, the planet Neptune, which rules photography, was nearing 29 degrees of artistic, yet financially-minded Taurus, a critical degree. Often when a planet is at 29 degrees, there’s an extra push or urgency to get things done. There’s also a summation, of sorts, of what has gone before while the planet has been in the sign.

Neptune was also forming a waxing, one-degree sextile to consolidating, organizing Saturn, newly-installed at 0 degrees of Leo, the sign of entertainment and the motion picture industry.

Lest we forget, we also currently have an ongoing sextile now, this year, between Saturn in Capricorn and Neptune in Pisces. This influence is also thought to be very good for creativity and realizing our dreams, with structuring Saturn providing a floor or foundation for Neptune’s bountiful imagination and visions.

Hope you enjoy your Wednesday!

Astrology June 22, 2011: Mars Square Fishy Neptune

COSMIC WATCH:

“The gift of fantasy has meant more to me than my talent for absorbing positive knowledge.” Albert Einstein, a Pisces Sun.

Fantasy Neptune, ruler of our imagination and also the urge for escape, is captaining our ‘good ship lollipop’ today in oceanic Pisces. This is because not only do we have a Neptune-ruled, dreamy Pisces Moon all day, we also have the Sun in nesting Cancer trining inspirational Neptune. And, energizer Mars in idea Gemini is squaring Neptune.

With Neptune’s illusory ray so prominent now it is much easier for us to “go adrift,” so we need to be extra mindful about holding ourselves accountable with respect to whatever it is that we want to accomplish today. Although, at the same time, it may also be wise for us not to stack too much on our plates, if we can. Especially work that calls for strict attention to details or facts and figures.

Too, we do have the Pisces Moon void of course all day, so it is best to stick with old projects instead of undertaking anything new. We also are encouraged to focus our energies on more creative venues (film, photography, painting, dance, poetry). Immersion in more spiritual or mystical pursuits also serves us well now, as Neptune is our portal to Divine forces.

Also, if something seems a little fishy to us today, chances are good that it is and we may need to arm ourselves with a healthy dose of skepticism. Neptune, on the shadow side, characteristically has a way of pulling the proverbial wool over our eyes. It is the planet that is formally linked with deception, either self-deception or deception from others (con men). It is also tied with scandal and weird incidents in general (especially the Mars square Neptune aspect). Often the kind of strange stuff that we hear about, that has us scratching our heads, wondering what in the world a person was thinking? Neptune’s classic calling card. 🙂

In the News: President Obama is reportedly planning on addressing the nation tonight from the White House to discuss his plan for the withdrawal of armed forces from Afghanistan, something which is quite fascinating from an astrological standpoint, as we have Mars, governing war and the military, exactly square to Neptune which tends to act as a dissolving agent (diminishing the troop strength in this instance). Neptune is, in fact, known as the “Great Dissolver.”

From research I have done over the years, too, Neptune’s ray often figures prominently in historic peace efforts and treaty signings, reflective perhaps of Neptune’s overriding desire for “oneness,” or for a unified world “without division.”

One more thing. Gotta’ love this “fishy” Neptunian headline in the news today: “Chinese Find 55-foot sea monster!” Reportedly, the “sea monster” washed up on a beach in Guangdong, China. It’s decaying body weighed in at 4.5 tons. Unfortunately, the decomposition was too advanced to ID the remains.

Enjoy your Wednesday! But, be careful about drinking too much of the hallucinatory, Neptunian “Kool-Aid.” Don’t want you to have a hangover. Always trying to do our best to look out for you here. 🙂

COSMIC WATCH:

“We are not human beings in search of a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” Teilhard de Chardin

There’s an abundance of mystical energy circulating around us today with expansive Jupiter’s opportunity sextile to spiritual Neptune, the planet that symbolizes our link to the divine. It’s a perfect day for meditation and prayer. Jupiter-Neptune can also inspire us to perform selfless acts of kindness and charity. Jupiter’s placement in practical Taurus also bodes well for turning our sweet dreams (Neptune governs our imagination) into delightful reality (Taurus). This magical Jupiter-Neptune influence will be lingering around for the next few days.

The presence of the Moon in health-conscious Virgo and Neptune’s placement in oceanic Pisces is also favorable now for all forms of water therapy as a way to rejuvenate our bodies and gently soothe our souls. Too, Neptune rules photography and visual images, so we may want to get out our cameras and create some new Kodak moments. Or perhaps thumb through old photo albums as a sentimental journey into our sacred Neptunian past.

MARS IN PISCES

“How much has to be explored and discarded before reaching the naked flesh of feeling?” Claude Debussy

Energizer Mars dives into emotional Pisces tonight (8:06 pm EST), where it will, no doubt, try to make a big splash over the next six weeks.

It is characteristically the nature of Mars to “stir things up,” as it represents our physical energy and ignites our passions – although when he is submerged underwater in Pisces, much of his “fire” is put out.

Mars in Pisces is also thought to be linked with passive aggressive behavior, or misplaced aggression.

But lest we get fooled by warrior Mars here, he can still be a barracuda!

Too, it is wise to always note whenever Mars changes zodiacal signs. It is at those times when Mars enters a new sign that we often collectively see very notable or pivotal things occurring with respect to “Mars-ruled” matters: aggression, war, adventurous new beginnings, discoveries or breakthroughs.  We also have to take into consideration the zodiacal sign that Mars is moving through.

Pisces, for example, rules the sea and oil; oil has also been spiking upwards due to the unrest in the Middle East. We may all want to keep a close eye on oil with volatile Mars moving into Pisces. (When Chiron entered Pisces last year was the very day we had the BP Oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.)

Mars in Pisces is also potentially a very imaginative/creative placement for the “red planet” including possible talent for art, music, dancing, acting, film and photography. Too, there may be a greater desire now for spiritual retreat/temporary seclusion from the world as a way of recharging our batteries.

Romantically, Mars in Pisces tends to be fantasy-driven and very sensual, so we will definitely want to clear our calendars to make sure that we do have plenty of time for nocturnal pastimes. 🙂

The shadow side of Mars in Pisces:  There can be indecisiveness, disillusionment, extremism (including religious fanaticism). Or too much of an immersion into fantasy or idealism.

Too, with Pisces being more of a selfless/ ego-denying sign, we ideally progress now by doing more for others than for ourselves, especially more for persons who are downtrodden, disabled, or down on their luck for whatever reason.

“Compassion is not religious business, it is human business, it is not luxury, it is essential for our own peace and mental stability, it is essential for human survival.” Dalai Lama

Patrice Astrology February 17, 2011: Sun Conjunct Neptune Daily Horoscope

COSMIC WEATHER:

“All men have need of the gods.” Homer

The empowering Sun conjuncts mystical Neptune. We have a desire to transcend the mundane in our search for deeper meaning. We are also more willing to let our ego needs take a backseat to the needs of others. Neptune is linked with self-sacrifice, even martyrdom. It also rules compassion, as well as our imagination. The keywords for Neptune are: “Serve or suffer.”

Meanwhile, the Moon remains in self-expressive Leo (gearing up for the Full Moon on Friday).  Perhaps by helping to raise others up (Neptune in Aquarius), we discover that we also shine (Leo) in the process.

“Only a life lived for others is worth living.” Albert Einstein.

A note of caution: The shadow side of Sun-Neptune tends to put us “in a fog.” It is often harder to see things clearly. We are also more prone to deception (either from self or others), and disillusionment. So we may want to keep more of a detached air about us, and stay more focused on facts rather than fantasy.

On a collective level, too, Sun-Neptune has historically been associated with “extremism” or “fanaticism,” especially religious fanaticism. This is mainly because with Sun-Neptune, we often feel that we are carrying out a “higher agenda” and therefore possiby assume that we have carte blanche to do whatever we feel we need to do in order to further our perceived noble causes. Neptune also rules persecution. It additionally represents groups that are disenfranchised or otherwise somehow down on their luck.

With that said, this is highly creative energy, today and tomorrow, especially with the theatrical Leo Moon also at play. Too, Neptune rules visual images. Our ability for positive visualization is, therefore, very keen now. We may also want to pay closer attention to our Neptune-ruled dreams for pivotal clues to our subconscious meanderings.

“All the things one has forgotten scream for help in dreams.” Elias Canetti

Neptune’s colors are turquoise, green, and magenta. To tune into Neptune’s meditative ray, we may want to wear and or surround ourselves now with these colors. Also, we might consider burning incense and putting on soft, soothing music. Creating a more contemplative environment in our homes. Water therapy is also ideal, as Neptune rules liquids, gels, and the sea. Given that the Moon is also in entertaining Leo, we may want to take in a play or movie, or attend a concert.

Famous Birthdays February 17th: Michael Jordan (48), Paris Hilton (30), Gene Pitney (would have been 71)

“I can’t understand why people are frightened of new ideas. I’m frightened of the old ones.” John Cage

Cosmic Weather:

The Moon exits contemplative Pisces for pioneering Aries (10:24 am EST). A time when we want to be starting something new and exciting in our lives. We also have intellectual Mercury, in enthusiastic Sagittarius, square to non-conforming Uranus, the planet of sudden change, which is in idealistic Pisces. This potent aspect tends to foster the formation of more radical ideas, or radical thinking. The nature of Uranus is generally more rebellious. Uranus likes to play the devil’s advocate, too. Mercury-Uranus can confer brilliance upon us. Uranus characteristically speeds up our thinking. But, at the same time, it can also be a more mentally unstable and erratic time for us, as we get these instant revelations and then suddenly they’re gone. It could be that we want to avoid making snap decisions, and also hold off acting on any of our sudden, genius insights, for a few days. Wait until they have had some time to distill or gel.

Additionally, we have Mercury sextile to mystic guru Neptune, with Neptune ruling our link to the divine and also our psychic ability. This aspect may generate more of an intellectual desire to seek out more spiritually-based activities. Perhaps we may want to read more inspirational material, or books on psychic development. Or, try psychic experiments, which is something that I personally love to do. Neptune also rules our dreams, so this is an ideal time for paying closer attention to our dreams now, and trying to unravel their magical symbolism. Dreams can often foretell our future, if we are but able to glean their meaning. Dream study is also a great way, in general, for staying connected with our subconscious, or what’s going on below the surface of our conscious awareness.

I remember, years ago, I had a very vivid dream about boarding a train in my home town. On this train, I met a man, and rode with him for the duration of the train ride, which seemed to last forever. At the end of the dream, however, that man stayed on the train, but I got off of it. When I woke up from that dream, I intuitively immediately knew that I was going to be “meeting a man” soon in my waking life. Well, within a week, I met my husband! But, it wasn’t on a train. It was in a radio station in my home town. I was on the air doing a call-in astrology show. My life – my personal journey – of course, changed forever, when I met Daniel, and we did, indeed, embark on an extended “life trip” with each other for twenty years, until his early death from cancer. Our relationship also ended up permanently taking me away, geographically, from my birthplace, as the two of us eventually settled far away from where I was born. I was thinking this morning, too, how in the dream, I got off the train by myself, perhaps indicating that my real life journey would later include living without my husband physically by my side. BTW, years ago, I did do intuitive dream interpretation on the radio with listeners, when I had my own radio show.

Neptune additionally governs our imagination and creativity. This influence should considerably help to elevate or boost our creativity, and also help with our powers of visualization. Excellent day for any creative writing project (Mercury rules words), especially with the simultaneous Mercury-Uranus aspect, which can provide us with unique, original insights, along with a good measure of quirky thoughts, which can also sometimes be kind of cool. Neptune also rules imagery, so it’s a fantastic day for painting or photography.

On a personal note, as I mentioned several days ago, I am going to be changing some things with my blog, this year. While I have enjoyed writing the daily horoscopes, I am going to begin doing them on a weekly basis instead. I want more time to focus on other writing projects for a while. Also, there’s the matter of making more time, hopefully, for a life with George Clooney in 2011. Ever the optimist here! 🙂  Too, I still plan on writing special articles on the lunations, planets changing signs, etc. here.

Patricia’s Astrology: Mars Neptune and The Advent of Color TV

On This Date in History:

On October 14, 1964, Philips began experimenting with color TV. In the heavens, the transiting Moon was passing through Scientific Aquarius, the sign which rules television broadcasting. Activator Mars, in Entertainment Leo, was also exactly square to Photogenic Neptune in Transforming Scorpio.  Neptune rules photography and images, and the whole realm of “illusion” and “make believe.” The square is a powerful astrological influence that “forces action.”

“Mars-Neptune” is traditionally heralded in astrology as one of the most creative aspects of all. This is because Neptune rules dreams and the imagination, and Mars acts as a catalyst to fire up whatever it is aligned with.  The nature of Mars is also pioneering, so with the help of the Experimental and Technologically-Savvy Aquarius Moon, there was this attempt to develop something new in the way of Leo entertainment: “color TV images” (Neptune). Neptune is also often referred to as the planetary ray that makes us see things through “rose-colored glasses.” Another tie in here with color and vision.
