COSMIC WEATHER:

“It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation.” Herman Melville

The “grounded” Taurus Moon implores us to be practical today. However, mental Mercury’s conjunction with erratic, non-conforming Uranus in dreamy Pisces (11:06 am EST) may also have our heads spinning with “original” or more “off the wall” ideas (Uranus). Of course, the combination of these two forces could pose a bit of a dilemma for us, unless we find a satisfactory way to integrate both of these energies. Overall, probably a good day to profile or express our uniqueness, while simultaneously attempting to think outside of the proverbial box. Too, we don’t need to necessarily act on any new ideas or insights that we may get at this time.

Uranus, as the higher octave of Mercury, also rules our intuition. So with Mercury-Uranus, we are potentially better able to channel our intuitive awareness now, with answers and information seemingly coming to us “out of the blue.”

Communicator Mercury, governing our conscious thinking, also descends into fiery Aries today (12:47 pm EST) where it will stay until mid-May. In Aries, Mercury is decisive and fast to act on its ideas, often acting before thinking.  Mercury here can also be competitive, and usually has more of an affinity for debating, as well as for arguing.

Too, if we normally struggle to express ourselves through speech or words, we may find that Mercury’s placement here is a boon for our self-expression, endowing us with greater self-confidence and daring. Also, if we have been “stuck” in our patterns of thinking, it could be Mercury through Aries, can help us to see and or adopt new points of view. On the shadow side, we do need to avoid, however, being overly impatient and headstrong in our thoughts and attitudes now. Aries, as the first sign of the zodiac, tends to be more self-centered, with the keywords for Aries being, “I Am.”

Mercury joins expansive Jupiter in Aries and on Friday, change-agent Uranus will also move into Aries, where it will reside for the next 7 years. The Universe is magically aligning for us to take very exciting action (Aries) in our lives in the coming weeks and months ahead!

“I never worry about action, only inaction.” Winston Churchill

COSMIC WEATHER:

“There is consciousness of the ego and the world around you, and there is consciousness of the Real Self, the Real You.” Remez Sasson

The “pioneering” Aries Moon journeys down mystical trails in its blissful meet-up (sextile) with “enlightened” Neptune in “discovery” Aquarius (11:05 am EST), suggesting an ideal time period for us to tap into our own inner prairie of “higher consciousness” and “creativity.”

Later, the Moon’s entrance into “physical, self-indulgent” Taurus (12:53 pm EST) may have some of us focused on nirvana-bound body wraps and massage, and glorious visions of dark chocolate. The Taurus Moon is perennially a passionate proponent of “creature comforts” as a form of healthy self-renewal. It also ushers in a more practical and material focus, as “acquisition” Taurus is the sign of money and possessions.

“He that is of the opinion money will do everything may well be suspected of doing everything for money.” Benjamin Franklin

COSMIC WEATHER:

We may need to start the day out at a “reduced speed,” with the “race car” Aries Moon in an opposition to “slow poke” Saturn (8:22 am EST) in matrimonial Libra.  Cautionary Saturn characteristically likes for us to keep our foot on or near the “brake pedal.” Saturn also relishes inciting the “backseat driver” in us. With that said, “taking things slower” now may be our sure ticket to the “finish line.”

COSMIC WEATHER:

“Wisdom and penetration are the fruit of experience, not the lessons of retirement and leisure. Great necessities call out great virtues.” Abigail Adams

The energizing Mars sextile aspect to penetrating Pluto (9:48 pm EST) makes this an effective day to get to the “heart of any matter.” Mars supplies us with drive and desire and passionate Pluto imbues us with deep focus and core insight, even X-ray vision. Pluto, of course, rules the subconscious and represents what is submerged or hidden.

Also a big assist here is mental Mercury’s resourceful quintile alignment with probing Pluto which further helps us to figure out mysteries and decode cryptic patterns. Potentially a day of major breakthroughs, if we are willing to dig deep enough. Our words (Mercury) may also have more potent impact (Pluto) today. We may additionally become privy to secret information (Pluto).

With Pluto’s regenerative ray so prominent now, today is also auspicious for overhauls or makeover projects.  Too, a great time to go antiquing or treasure-hunting. Purging and letting go what we no longer need is very desirable. We do need to keep in mind, as well, that opportunistic Jupiter, is still square to purging Pluto, so today’s Mars-Pluto energy can be a big boost for positively changing or altering the landscape around us.

Since Pluto additionally pertains to other people’s resources, we are encouraged now to merge our energies with others (Mars-Pluto) to realize common goals and interests. The Moon is also still in group-oriented Aquarius, and then shifts to compassionate Pisces (11:48 am EST) setting the stage for Friday’s New Moon.

COSMIC WEATHER:

Moon switches from “highway man” Sagittarius to “let’s get down to business” Capricorn (2:32 pm EST). But, before the Moon vacates truth-seeking Sadge, she forms a heavenly sextile to mystical Neptune (12:09 pm EST), who takes her for an idyllic stroll on the gentle wings of angels. The short jaunt truly inspires the Moon to “keep believing in miracles,” and suggests for all of us, a magical time period ahead, if we but dare to believe in the unseen, “divine forces.”

“Miracles occur naturally as an expression of love. The real miracle is the love that inspires them. In this sense, everything that comes from love is a miracle.” Marie Lloyd.

COSMIC WEATHER:

“Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.” Oprah Winfrey

Opportunistic Jupiter squares passionate Pluto (3:41 pm EST): Doing what we are passionate about can be very freeing for us. New doors could suddenly open up to us if we focus and harness our energies wisely. Purging ourselves of what is outworn, also allows us to move forward to a brighter future. (Pluto rules the principle of elimination.) Also, a great day for refurbishing, or giving things “new life.”

Shadow side of Jupiter-Pluto: Becoming too obsessed with a course of action. Desire for manipulation and control at all costs. Power-hungry. Ruthlessness, or expression of extreme forms of behavior.

Sun/Mercury sextile Pluto: Transforming or regenerating circumstances. Penetrating insights. “Aha” moments.  What was previously hidden or disguised, is gloriously revealed. (Pluto rules secrets and the subconscious realm).

Moon in Sagittarius: Fires up our sense of wonderment and adventure. We also want to express and act upon our higher beliefs and convictions.

Shadow side of Sadge Moon: Fanaticism. Too preachy or boastful. Extravagance (which Pluto will likely do combat with today).

Astrology February 20, 2011: Mercury, Mars, Neptune Triple Conjunction

COSMIC WEATHER:

“I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.” Michelangelo

We have a potent triple conjunction of Mercury (thoughts), Mars (motivator), and Neptune (fantasy) in nnovative Aquarius, which is also the sign that rules groups and group behavior. Creative types and original thinkers will likely thrive today, as Neptune rules the imagination, artistic or musical expression, and Mercury and Mars can help to fire these things up. Aquarius energy can also aid to kindle our originality and genius and give us the courage and wherewithal to view our lives and options in exciting new ways.

Additionally, this triple grouping of the planets can be a very spiritual time when we feel more of a link with the divine, as Neptune rules our urge for spirituality. Meditation, prayer, engaging in random acts of kindness, or perhaps visiting those who are ill or infirm, or otherwise confined, would be some great ways of using this energy in its most sublime manner. Again, with this conjunction occurring in group-oriented Aquarius, aligning with groups or organizations that do-good works for the collective, would be ideal. Too, lest we forget, Neptune’s mantra is: “Serve or suffer.”

On the shadow side with this influence, there is potentially more of a tendency for “misplaced aggression.”  This is because the aggressive urge, ruled by Mars, has a potential for being disguised with its alignment with masquerading or deceptive Neptune. Historically, Mars-Neptune has also been associated with martyrdom and persecution and taking advantage of those who are weaker or do not often seem to have a voice in their own affairs, like the downtrodden or disenfranchised groups.

We may also be well-advised to pay closer attention to the particular impulses that are driving our behavior and decisions now, and steer clear of acting on any irrational or self-aggrandizing ideas that do not propel us upward, to a better place in our head. Neptune’s ray unchecked can arouse paranoia or strange fears from seemingly out of nowhere. Once we detach and calmly study the irrationality of these things, however, we can simply release them and let them go, without acting upon them. Or we can transmute them into higher, creative expression, that serves to elevate or free us.

“There is much in the world to make us afraid. There is much more in our faith to make us unafraid.” Frederick W. Cropp.

COSMIC WEATHER:

“All men have need of the gods.” Homer

The empowering Sun conjuncts mystical Neptune. We have a desire to transcend the mundane in our search for deeper meaning. We are also more willing to let our ego needs take a backseat to the needs of others. Neptune is linked with self-sacrifice, even martyrdom. It also rules compassion, as well as our imagination. The keywords for Neptune are: “Serve or suffer.”

Meanwhile, the Moon remains in self-expressive Leo (gearing up for the Full Moon on Friday).  Perhaps by helping to raise others up (Neptune in Aquarius), we discover that we also shine (Leo) in the process.

“Only a life lived for others is worth living.” Albert Einstein.

A note of caution: The shadow side of Sun-Neptune tends to put us “in a fog.” It is often harder to see things clearly. We are also more prone to deception (either from self or others), and disillusionment. So we may want to keep more of a detached air about us, and stay more focused on facts rather than fantasy.

On a collective level, too, Sun-Neptune has historically been associated with “extremism” or “fanaticism,” especially religious fanaticism. This is mainly because with Sun-Neptune, we often feel that we are carrying out a “higher agenda” and therefore possiby assume that we have carte blanche to do whatever we feel we need to do in order to further our perceived noble causes. Neptune also rules persecution. It additionally represents groups that are disenfranchised or otherwise somehow down on their luck.

With that said, this is highly creative energy, today and tomorrow, especially with the theatrical Leo Moon also at play. Too, Neptune rules visual images. Our ability for positive visualization is, therefore, very keen now. We may also want to pay closer attention to our Neptune-ruled dreams for pivotal clues to our subconscious meanderings.

“All the things one has forgotten scream for help in dreams.” Elias Canetti

Neptune’s colors are turquoise, green, and magenta. To tune into Neptune’s meditative ray, we may want to wear and or surround ourselves now with these colors. Also, we might consider burning incense and putting on soft, soothing music. Creating a more contemplative environment in our homes. Water therapy is also ideal, as Neptune rules liquids, gels, and the sea. Given that the Moon is also in entertaining Leo, we may want to take in a play or movie, or attend a concert.

COSMIC WEATHER:

“I never trust people’s assertions, I always judge of them by their actions.” Ann Radcliffe

With the Moon in emotionally vulnerable Cancer and connection queen Venus, forming a semi-square to deceptive Neptune, we are well-served today to heed Ms. Radcliffe’s more tried-and-true philosophy. Size people up by their actions, not their assertions.

Too, with communicator Mercury also forming a semi-square to bloated Jupiter, we are likely going to be fed a bunch of hyperbole anyway, as Jupiter likes to embellish and stretch things. But, again, we do best just sticking with the “plain and simple” facts today. No pie ala mode. Hold the pickle. 🙂

Famous Birthdays February 15th: Jane Seymour (60), Melissa Manchester (60)

“Tears of joy are like the summer rain drops pierced by sunbeams.” Hosea Ballou

In the news: President Obama unveiled his 2012 Federal Budget on Monday with communicator Mercury in idealistic Aquarius exactly trine to Saturn in Libra. Saturn rules budgets and Libra rules Congress. Mercury-Saturn symbolizes more of a “budget-conscious” mindset.

Of course, we also have expander Jupiter in trailblazing Aries now forming a tight square to purging Pluto in governmental Capricorn, so needless to say, there will probably end up being a lot of “elimination” from this proposed budget, as is normally the case. With Jupiter-Pluto, though, the cuts could even be deeper, this time around, as bulldozer Pluto tends to decimate.
