COSMIC WATCH:

Thinker Mercury’s sextile to “fantasy” Neptune (5:59 pm EDT) adds a dreamy quality to our evening.  It’s also positive for projects that engage our imagination. This aspect can additionally stimulate our psychic ability, as well as provoke interest in more mystical or spiritual matters. Sometimes, too, with this influence we experience very vivid night dreams, some of which may even be prophetic (I recently had such a dream with the Sun opposite my Neptune). We may want to keep a notepad and pen by our bed tonight…just in case. I know if I don’t jot down my dreams, I’m apt to forget them. “Man is a genius when he is dreaming.” Akira Kurosawa

In the News: President Obama publicly came out in favor of same-sex marriage on Wednesday, reversing his earlier position. He is the first U.S. president to go on record supporting gay marriage.  Interestingly, in his horoscope now he has Mars, the planet of action, exactly conjunct his natal Pluto, which symbolizes rebirth and transformation. This conjunction is also occurring in his seventh house, the sector of the horoscope that governs marriage.

Mars-Pluto is a very potent influence that can elevate a person’s level of intensity and also make them very determined to achieve their ends. Metaphorically, it can depict someone “going to battle” for what they believe in. It can also coincide with a person making a sweeping change or overhaul in their life. Sometimes this revamping is necessary because there is additional clarity now about a matter. What perhaps served the person before is likely no longer working, so the person may feel that they have almost no choice but to alter their course.

Astrology April 15, 2012: Sun Opposes Saturn, Obama Runs for Second Term

COSMIC WATCH:

The illuminating Sun opposes taskmaster Saturn today. Normally with this influence we tend to adopt more of a serious mindset and focus on our perceived duties and responsibilities, which Saturn represents. If we do opt to go this route we may end up being quite productive and successful, as Sun-Saturn can inspire us to be more disciplined and steadfast to see things through to the end.

This may also be a very good day to simply reflect upon the structures – relationships, daily practices, activities – that we have built up in our world and determine how they are either supporting or hindering us. If they do seem to be thwarting our progress now or interfering perhaps with our desired vision of work/life balance for our lives, we may want to consider what steps we could take now to make our lives better and more fulfilling in the future.

Interestingly, last year when we had this same Sun-Saturn influence, President Obama’s presidential campaign announced that day that he was going to run for a second term in office. Too, Sun-Saturn often correlates with events, developments or perspectives that seem to be more karmic nature, or that seem to really resonate with our life purpose in some way.

On another level, sometimes with Sun-Saturn we may possibly feel cut off from others, or simply wish to be left alone, as Saturn governs boundaries and our sense of separateness.

Too, it may even mean with this aspect that we come to a deeper understanding today of how valuable it can be for us to have set boundaries in our relationships as an extension of self-care. Also, sometimes with Sun-Saturn we may be simply too critical of ourselves.

Additionally with Sun-Saturn we sometimes seek out older or more mature types to be around.

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon in social Libra points us in the direction of relationships. However, Libra’s ruler, sweet Venus, is also making a square to erratic Uranus, the planet of rebellion, so affairs of the heart could be somewhat unsettled. Venus-Uranus is often chocked full of twists and turns. With that said, it may also be wise for us to subdue any of our “wilder impulses” (Uranus) for the time being.

We also have a dynamic, very fortuitous trine today between Jupiter, the planet of opportunity and abundance, in financial Taurus, and rejuvenating Pluto in influential Capricorn. A time for us to aim high and reach for the stars with respect to our professional or career goals. This is also an excellent time for purging and letting go of the past, especially ridding ourselves of self-limiting beliefs and doubts about our capabilities. Jupiter-Pluto is also associated with “mega-wealth” (billionaires) and “mega-power,” making this an ideal time to network with high-profile types who may be able to magically assist us in our ascent to the top.

Interestingly, President Obama is also holding a “bipartisan debt discussion” at the White House today with Republican and Democratic leaders. Pluto is the planet that governs debt. Perhaps Pluto’s alignment with lucky Jupiter, may finally bring about some forward progress on the matter of raising (Jupiter) the debt ceiling (Pluto) in the U.S.

COSMIC WEATHER:

With the Moon in emotionally vulnerable Cancer and connection queen Venus, forming a semi-square to deceptive Neptune, we are well-served today to heed Ms. Radcliffe’s more tried-and-true philosophy. Size people up by their actions, not their assertions.

Too, with communicator Mercury also forming a semi-square to bloated Jupiter, we are likely going to be fed a bunch of hyperbole anyway, as Jupiter likes to embellish and stretch things. But, again, we do best just sticking with the “plain and simple” facts today. No pie ala mode. Hold the pickle. 🙂

In the news: President Obama unveiled his 2012 Federal Budget on Monday with communicator Mercury in idealistic Aquarius exactly trine to Saturn in Libra. Saturn rules budgets and Libra rules Congress. Mercury-Saturn symbolizes more of a “budget-conscious” mindset.

Of course, we also have expander Jupiter in trailblazing Aries now forming a tight square to purging Pluto in governmental Capricorn, so needless to say, there will probably end up being a lot of “elimination” from this proposed budget, as is normally the case. With Jupiter-Pluto, though, the cuts could even be deeper, this time around, as bulldozer Pluto tends to decimate.
