Astrology: Love Goddess Venus in Pisces March 27, 2011 to April 21, 2011

(Below is an edited, re-posting of a blog that I wrote last year on Venus in Pisces.)

“Intense love does not measure. It just gives.” Mother Teresa.

Relationship planet Venus, slips into dreamy, mystical Pisces on March 27, 2011 (at 2:53 am EDT), where she stays until April 21, 2011.  Venus represents our “urge for love.”  It shows us what we are passionate about, what we value.  Her passage through the twelve signs of the zodiac gives us an insightful glimpse into our ever-changing passions and values.

Venus’ love expression is exalted in Neptune-ruled Pisces.  Here she finds herself capable of unconditional love and divine compassion. With idealistic Neptune as her mentor, Venus in Pisces can be quite spiritual, and hopeful.  She wants to believe the very best of people. She characteristically gives her heart away without thought of what she’s going to get in return.

Neptune also rules the creative urge, so natural artist, Venus in Pisces, can be very romantic, and dream up all kinds of imaginative ways to express herself here. She is especially fond of self-expression through poetry, music, dance, photography, and art.

Venus in Pisces does have a soft spot, some might even refer to it as a “blind spot,” for falling for types “who need rescuing.” More fragile types are naturally attracted to Venus in Pisces because of the warmth and caring that she magically exudes.

Because Neptune also signifies illusion and fantasy,Venus in Pisces tends to idolize or glamorize others, instead of seeing people as they are. Venus in Pisces also longs for total submergence into a relationship. Neptune’s Venus wants to be romantically swept off her feet and to give herself entirely. She does not want any boundaries coming between her and the object of her affection (Neptune is known as the “Great Dissolver”). Of course, when we do seek total immersion in a love relationship, there can be some hazards, including potentially a loss of our own identity.

“Make me immortal with a kiss.” Christopher Marlowe

In the event a love relationship does not pan out, Venus in Pisces can become very disillusioned and disheartened.  Her heightened sensitivity also makes dealing with the pain of a break-up or rejection, that much harder. Unfortunately, she often blames herself for any failures in a relationship.  Even if someone treated her disrespectfully, she may still have that person on a pedestal. Again, it’s about that tendency to not want to see others as they are.  It’s a reflection of Neptune’s intrinsic nature to want to look at relationships through rose-colored glasses. Also, it’s part of the “serve or suffer” Pisces martyr-complex that many of us are all too familiar with.

So, in summary, with Venus’ passage through softening, sympathetic Pisces, the next few weeks, what we may find is that we are acting with more of a tender-heart now, perhaps more able to graciously accept others on an emotional level. Also, perhaps more in tune with others’ needs. Too, we may be more inclined to let down our emotional guards a bit more, which could be a very good thing if it results in forging more healthy, positive connections.

On the shadow side again, we will not want to delude ourselves into seeing things in a relationship, that are not really there. Of course, this tendency is always a risk in the realm of romance, but especially now with Venus tucked away in more vulnerable, wishful Pisces. Too, we may want to make sure that we hold other people accountable for their words and actions now. Make them “walk their talk” before giving our hopeful hearts away.

Venus in Pisces Keywords: gentle, romantic, tends to fantasize, idolize, intuitive, affectionate, seductive, sentimental,  compassionate, sensitive, empathetic, sympathetic, vulnerable, gullible, moody, self-negating, self-defeating, impressionable, artistic, creative.

Famous persons with Venus in Pisces: Actor John Travolta, Poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Pianist Arthur Rubenstein, Civil Rights Leader Martin Luther King, Jr., and Psychic Edgar Cayce.

Astrology March 26, 2011: “Seductive Love” Venus conjunct Neptune

Tags

, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

COSMIC WEATHER:

“Seduction is always more singular and sublime than sex and it commands the higher price.” Jean Baudrillard

The Moon continues in “grounded” Capricorn urging us to apply “common sense” to our feelings and emotions. Although, the Moon’s monthly conjunction to “controlling” Pluto (11:49 am EDT) could pose a few challenges for us if we venture outside of our boundaries and try to exert too much pressure or influence on others.

This is an excellent “purge” aspect, though, so venting could be a good thing now, if done in a mindful fashion that does not unduly alienate or involve mud-slinging or the re-opening of old, hurtful wounds. Pluto is associated with the subconscious and under its activated ray, things buried deep inside of us tend to rise to the surface for review.

Also, it’s a great time to recycle or declutter on the home front or at the office. Perhaps one of the premier times of the month to do so. On the other hand, treasure-hunters may want to do some antiquing, as Moon-Pluto can be favorable for unearthing “rare jewels.”

Connection queen Venus also forms a tense, 135-degree aspect to “withholding” Saturn in partnership Libra (5:04 pm EDT).  We may feel a little more cut off or blocked in expressing our feelings. Saturn sometimes coincides with giving a voice to our fears.

However, this low feeling may not linger too long, as we also have love maven Venus conjuncting magical Neptune (9:40 pm EDT), a time when we are more inclined to “idealize love.” Putting our lover on a pedestal or making great “sacrifices” for the sake of love, may be part of our mindset now, as Venus-Neptune can be a very seductive, alluring influence. We do need to be mindful of the fact, though, that “all that glitters” may not be gold. Because, on the shadow side, “spell-binding” Venus-Neptune can be deceptive. We are also more emotionally vulnerable now.

Also, new people that come into our lives may be on a “different wavelength” from us. This influence has been known to produce some rather “odd pairings.”

Too, with Neptune symbolizing our link to the divine, Venus-Neptune, at the highest levels, can equate to “selfless love,” or an ability for demonstrating deep compassion and sensitivity with others. Therefore, it’s an excellent time to do charitable work or to dole out good deeds. It is also a very creative influence, perfect for any artistic renderings or performances, including dancing, as Neptune rules the feet.

Venus also moves into Neptune-ruled Pisces tomorrow, so today is sort of a “test-run” for possible things to come. Venus stays in Pisces until April 21. (Refer to my Venus in Pisces blog post for more details.)

Astrology March 25, 2011: “Is Glass Half Full?” Moon in Sagittarius

Tags

, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

COSMIC WEATHER:

“Having a positive mental attitude is asking how something can be done rather than saying it can’t be done.” Bo Bennett

The bewitching Moon spends her day in optimistic Sagittarius, where she is more inclined to conclude that, “Yes, indeed, the glass is half full!” The early morning hours are best for mental work with the Moon’s trine to logical thinker Mercury ( 8:24 am EDT). The Moon’s tense square to impulsive Mars (11:09 am EDT) also cautions us to “think” before we act.

Later on, our romantic prospects brighten with the Moon’s warm sextile to connection queen Venus (7:03 pm EDT). Our blissful mood continues with the Moon’s magical sextile to dreamy, meditative guru Neptune (9:26 pm EDT), a time to seek out more mystical or creative outlets. Neptune represents our “link to the divine.”

Shortly afterward, the Moon then switches to realistic Capricorn (9:58 pm EDT), forming a potent square to rebellious child Uranus, who could put a disruptive kink into our levitation practices, if we’re not careful. A time when we could also temporarily conclude that the glass is “half empty.” Of course, this need not be the case if we keep our eyes focused on the “bigger picture” and our grander intentions for ourselves.

Astrology March 21, 2011: Reform or Revolution? Sun conjunct Uranus in Aries

Tags

, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

COSMIC WEATHER:

“A reform is a correction of abuses; a revolution is a transfer of power.” Robert Bulwer-Lytton

Well, now that we know the fine distinction between these two things, reform and revolution, it may be that we see a bit of both of these occurring today as the “big cheese” Sun conjuncts “liberating” Uranus, the sometimes quirky, and often unruly, “rebel stepchild” of the Universe.

“Change-agent” Uranus also tends to be  “unpredictable” in nature, so it’s hard to ever know exactly what he has up his sleeve. It’s probably best for us to just prime ourselves for the “unexpected” today, and hope it will be “very good” unexpected stuff that develops in our lives.

Uranus can bring about sudden amazing breakthroughs and advances, especially of a more scientific or technological nature. This is especially the case in pioneering Aries, a sign also known for “firsts.” At any rate, a very good day to consider instituting new procedures or processes in our lives to make them more efficient. BTW, Uranus is formally associated with “genius.” Maybe all of our “IQ’s” will effectively get a boost today. Too, this is not a good day to resist change, as it could be a lost cause for us with wacky Uranus breathing down our necks, holding us captive. 🙂

This powerhouse Sun-Uranus pairing is also occurring in “don’t fence me in” Aries, the macho sign of war and the military. Of course, many of us already know what is presently unfolding in Libya with the international coalition forces enacting a no-fly zone over that country. Heard on the Wall Street Journal Radio this morning (love their early morning news program) that there is also reportedly some concern that Moammar Qadhafi could resort to terrorism, at some point, even use mustard gas.

Too, more unrest is again brewing in other areas of the Middle East. (We also have Mercury and Jupiter in Aries.) Ever since expansive Jupiter got into Aries, late January, is when the political activism and social unrest in the Middle East started heating up (also had warrior Mars in group-oriented Aquarius setting the tone then. Mars rules Aries.).

Aries also rules sports. Today, the long-awaited Barry Bonds‘ perjury trial is slated to begin, three years after Bonds was charged with lying to a federal grand jury when he denied knowingly using performance-enhancing drugs. One thing’s for certain about “high-voltage” Sun-Uranus: It is never a boring aspect!

Astrology March 20, 2011: “Spring Equinox,” Sun in Aries, Charles Lindbergh

Tags

COSMIC WEATHER:

“Be willing to be a beginner every single morning.” Meister Eckhart

Today is the “spring equinox.” The official start of the astrological “new year,” when the Sun ingresses into “Aries the Ram,” the sign of new beginnings (7:21 pm EDT). In astrology, the “empowering” Sun symbolically represents our “core” or “center” around which everything else revolves. It is our deep “sense of self.”

The keywords for Aries are “I am.” On a personal level, this sign is all about discovering who we are as distinct creatures apart from the pack. It’s about reveling being in our own skin. Excitedly making our humble, unique contribution to the planet.

The Sun joins Mercury (thinking), Jupiter (opportunity), and Uranus (genius) already stationed in Aries. Too, almost as soon as the Sun enters Aries it conjuncts “awakening” Uranus (tomorrow), the electrifying “poster child” for change and innovation.

“Liberating” Uranus also rules aviation and the very last time we had the Sun nearing Uranus at the early part of “pioneering” Aries, back on March 21, 1928, is when aviator Charles Lindbergh was presented his “Medal of Honor” for his first trans-Atlantic flight. When we think of how aviation has drastically altered (Uranus) civilization on this planet, “freed us up” in many ways, we can glean a fresh awareness of the unlimited possibilities that exist before us, both individually and collectively, with this game-changing, (Uranus in Aries) inventive energy at our disposal. Uranus, of course, also rules technology. Too, most of the time, the only real limits that we ever face are the “self-limiting beliefs” that we impose upon ourselves.

“The real gold is what you are.” Alan Cohen

“If we long to believe that the stars rise and set for us, that we are the reason there is a Universe, does science do us a disservice in deflecting our conceits?” Carl Sagan.

Astrology March 19, 2011: “The SuperMoon” Full Moon in Virgo

Tags

, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

COSMIC WEATHER:

“I am tired, beloved, of chafing my heart against the want of you; of squeezing it into little ink drops, and posting it. And I scald alone, here, under the fire of the great moon.” Amy Lowell

There is a Full Moon today at 28 degrees of “resourceful” Virgo (2:10 pm EDT). This lunation is actually a “Super Moon,” meaning that the Moon is at its closest point to Earth (perigee). The last time we had a “Super Moon” was almost two decades ago. This Full Moon will look much bigger in the sky, especially on the horizon, but the larger size is merely an optical illusion. It will, however, have reportedly greater impact on the tides. Perhaps also on our emotions.

Full Moons tend to bring about “full illumination.” With this Full Moon in logical, analytical Virgo, we have a pitting of the intellect (Virgo) against the emotional (Pisces) self, with the impressionable, imaginative Pisces Sun in opposition to this Moon. With oppositions, we need to find a balance between the two opposing forces. In this case, integrate the “head” (Virgo) with the “heart”(Pisces), the part of us that is more emotionally vulnerable.

Wherever the Virgo Full Moon falls in our personal horoscopes (the house), is the area of life where we may also need to do some extra scrutinizing or refinement (Virgo). Also, some elimination, as Full Moons are times of release. Virgo likes to systematically take things apart for study under a microscope.  This sign symbolically rules the intestines in the body which break down food substances into digestible particles. It could be the affairs of that part of our life where the Full Moon occurs need to be reviewed in “minute detail” with eye towards improvement. Virgo the Virgin, or “Maiden,” seeks purity or perfection. Likes to fix broken situations. Restore order.

Too, this Full Moon opposes “change-agent” Uranus in Aries, a planet associated with “sudden breakthroughs,” sort of a harmonious tie-in with the “revelatory nature” of a Full Moon. Especially this Full Moon in Virgo, a zodiacal sign which intrinsically tends to be more insightful.

Unpredictable Uranian energies are also more “highly charged” and with mutable Virgo, the sign of work, being more nervous and restless, we may want to make sure that we keep ourselves fully occupied now, both physically and mentally, and also try to just “go with the Uranian flow” of electrifying energies.  The Virgo Moon always wants to be productive. It also desires to be of service to others. Definitely an admirable trait.

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” Mohandas Gandhi

Additionally, the Full Moon forms an awkward quinqunx to “disguising” Neptune, the natural ruler of Pisces, so we may also have to be prepared to deal with or manage some more confusing or nebulous issues (Neptune) that could suddenly arise. The “astute” Virgo Moon with its incredible powers of perception will likely, however, be able to deftly help us “pierce the veil” of Neptunian illusion and dispel any fogginess.

Astrology March 18, 2011: “Serious Perspective” Mercury Opposite Saturn

Tags

, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

COSMIC WEATHER:

“Nothing is worth doing unless the consequences may be serious.” George Bernard Shaw

The Moon remains in logical, analytical Virgo, setting the tone for thinker Mercury’s opposition to judgmental Saturn (9:55 am EDT). This is definitely a day when we will want to be well-prepared and organized in our responses. Otherwise we tend to suffer the consequences, especially from higher-ups and authority figures (Saturn) who may be inclined to find fault (Saturn) with us for not doing our due diligence.  The Virgo Moon can be a stickler for detail and Mercury-Saturn can be very serious and exacting. In general, this aspect tends to impart more of a sobering outlook.

On the plus side with this influence, we have a great opportunity to deepen our perception and probe matters with expert clarity, particularly since we also have the Moon in discriminating Virgo. Overall, a great day for research and for making serious assessments.

Astrology March 17, 2011: “Mystical Revelations” Moon Opposite Neptune

Tags

, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

COSMIC WEATHER:

“There’s a collective knowing that a dimension of reality exists beyond the material plane, and that sense of knowing is causing a mystical resurgence on the planet today.” Marianne Williamson

This St. Patty’s Day the Moon is winding up its passage in “big hair” Leo, heading for the sweet, “vacuumed-paradise” of Virgo (4:53 pm EDT). Before it vacates theatrical Leo, however, it is meeting up with “transcendent” Neptune (3:59 pm EDT), which is at the very end of hi-tech Aquarius, propelling us into a more “visionary” or “mystical” state of mind. A good day to simply “go with the flow” and pay closer attention to our intuitive awareness versus relying purely on reason and logic.

Too, even though we do have the Moon switching to analytical Virgo later on, we also have Mercury, the ruler of Virgo, involved in a 45-degree aspect to psychedelic Neptune (9:32 pm EDT). So, there’s no escaping the clutches of our fanciful imagination today, which Neptune rules.

Do we maybe have any creative projects (poetry, writing, film, music, art, etc.) that we can work on today that will allow us to tap into Neptune’s inspired ray? We also may want to make time for meditation or prayer (Neptune). Neptune is also associated with “divine love” and “compassion.” A good day for “giving back” to others. Too, we may want to watch our intake of “green beer,” this St. Patty’s Day, as Neptune does rule alcohol consumption and escapism. If we are not careful, we could be tempted to “drown our sorrows.”

Astrology March 16, 2011: “Standing Ovation” Moon in Leo Horoscope

Tags

, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

COSMIC WEATHER:

“Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.” Oscar Wilde

With the Moon in theatrical, performing Leo and harmonious to Mercury (thoughts and words), Jupiter (inspired vision) and Saturn (depth), we have the green light from the cosmos today to power up and display our creative imagination.

Too, we are better able to play out our personal roles on the world stage and make gallant contributions to the collective when we have drawn upon our own unique brand of internal wisdom and experience in crafting our scripts, and deliver our lines with a true authenticity that radiates from that sacred voice within.

Some possible musings for today: Do we know, understand, and embrace our special role in the world? Do we give serious thought to our daily lines and how we deliver them, and the impact our words may have on others? Do we usually try to inspire others with our daily performance? What could we do today to get a standing ovation? 🙂

Astrology March 15, 2011: “Keep Hope Alive” Mercury conjunct Jupiter

Tags

, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

COSMIC WEATHER:

“In all things, it is better to hope than despair.” Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Of course, with so much sadness and tragedy going on in the world around us now, it is much harder for many of us to feel very hopeful. Too, our thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Japan. They have already gone through so much.

Ironically, we have mental Mercury, ruler of our thoughts, exactly aligned with optimistic, philosophical Jupiter (9:27 pm EDT) today. Mercury conjunct Jupiter is all about “keeping hope alive” and imagining wondrous possibilities, even when things seems bleak. With expansive Jupiter, we naturally tend to focus on the “bigger picture.” We attempt to connect all the dots.

The Moon also shifts from sensitive Cancer to self-expressive Leo (3:34 pm EDT), forming a powerful trine to electrifying change-agent Uranus in Aries (3:56 pm EST). Moon-Uranus could elevate our emotions and also our self-esteem (Aries). Maybe it will also bring about some positive, sudden breakthroughs (Uranus) or even miracles for those in need.
