Astrology November 6, 2011: Invoking Our Inner Genius (Uranus)

COSMIC WATCH:

As the Moon leaves the soulful waters of Pisces and races into fiery, self-discovery Aries (2:02 pm EDT), there’s a fervor for newness and excitement in our lives. Especially when the Moon makes her monthly conjunction to freedom-loving Uranus (4:15 pm EDT), which often poises us to “push the envelope” and test the limits of things. This lunar influence can also incite our inner genius and make us more innovative, as Uranus is linked with brilliance and originality. Of course, on the shadow side, Moon-Uranus can quickly exhaust our reservoir of patience, if we’re not mindful, as it is highly charged, very restless energy, particularly in spontaneous, impulsive Aries.

“The two most powerful warriors are patience and time.” Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy

Famous People with Moon conjunct Uranus: Anais Nin, Bob Dylan, Ann-Margret, Drew Carey, Jodi Foster

How can you engage or invoke your “inner Einstein” (Uranus) today? A couple helpful techniques: 1) Try to see beyond what appears on the surface of things. 2) Toss aside your natural assumptions and investigate matters.

November 6 birthday: Actress Sally Field turns 65 today! Field’s probing Scorpio Sun and pioneering Aries Moon exactly mirrors today’s Sun-Moon lineup. She also her Mercury and Venus conjunct in Sagittarius, which is additionally identical to what we have operating now. Mercury-Venus in Sadge can make a person very outspoken, but also very pleasant and likable, as Venus governs our “power of attraction.” With this aspect, we often seem to know the right things to say to others, to soothe or win them over. (Mercury rules words and communication).

Enjoy your Sunday!

Astrology November 5, 2011: Moderation Is Suggested With Jupiter

COSMIC WATCH:

Doing whatever brings us pleasure is recommended today with the Moon in creative and dreamy Pisces, a lunar placement that often inclines us to want to escape the daily grind. Too, Neptune-ruled Pisces is the official sign of fairy tales, so it’s not that surprising that we may want to steep ourselves in “never never land” for a while when the Moon is magically moving through here. Also, engaging in fantasy and using the powers of our imagination can be very healing and rejuvenating. Of course, all things that eventually manifest or take shape on the earth plane, are first initially seeded by our imagination. The Pisces Moon is also good for meditation or prayer.

However, we do need to be more mindful of not overdoing things today, as we have both Venus (what we love) and Mercury (our thinking and communication) forming stressful quinqunx aspects to Jupiter (expansion) in self-indulgent Taurus. With Jupiter roguishly in the picture, it is easier for us to do things to excess, or to overspend, misjudge or mis-calculate matters. By paying closer attention, though, to the devilish details and not glossing over costs, we still may be able to make some refreshing lemonade from the sour cosmic aspects. 🙂

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon’s passage into “behind-the-scenes” Pisces (3:18 am EDT) suggests tapping into our inner resources instead of looking outward for the answers. The Moon’s soothing sextiles to abundant Jupiter (11:56 am EDT) and transforming Pluto (2:06 pm EDT) also indicates that we may have a plethora of hidden assets at our disposal that we can draw upon successfully now, if we are only willing to do a little mining. Too, it could be that employing a “soft touch” with others, is our wisest strategy today, especially perhaps on the professional front. Also, giving back to others and showing gratitude for our many blessings, most assuredly helps to multiply or increase our bounty.

Astrology November 3, 2011: Mercury and Venus Trine Uranus

Tags

, , , , , , , , ,

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon sticks around for another day in “progressive” Aquarius, ideally poising us to be more accepting of change and also more detached with our emotions. She is also getting friendly backup by relationship Venus and thinker Mercury. Both of these planetary bodies are now situated in exploratory, truth-seeking Sagittarius, and both are exactly trine to innovative Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius.

When Venus and Uranus are aligned, we generally tend to be more free-spirited in our love or social lives, which can often translate into a desire to engage in exciting or thrilling new pastimes or adventures. Sometimes, too, we are more tempted to defy or ignore the rules of convention, with this influence, especially as they pertain to our romantic or social behavior, as Uranus governs the urge for freedom and individuality.

Too, on Venus-Uranus days, we often find issues concerning gay rights or sexual equality coming to the forefront of the collective. Fascinatingly, the late actress, Elizabeth Taylor, was also born on a day when Venus and Uranus were exactly conjunct in pioneering Aries and we all know about her tireless and heroic efforts for AIDS and equality issues, especially the latter portion of her life. She also had a striking, electrifying (Uranus) appearance and Venus affects one’s physical beauty and fashion. Accordingly, it might be a fun day for us to spice up our appearance or wardrobe in novel ways. BTW, the late Johnny Cash, also had the same Venus-Uranus conjunction and he always dressed in black to distinguish himself.

The Mercury trine Uranus aspect today is also helpful in connecting us with our inner genius or brilliance. It naturally primes us to think “outside of the box.” It can also facilitate our intuition, which Uranus governs, paving the way for sudden breakthroughs and plenty of “aha moments.” With Uranus additionally ruling technology it may be a good day to purchase new electronic gadgets or for figuring out matters of a technical nature.

Mercury also rules communication and deposited in articulate, idealistic Sadge, this may be a perfect time to sound off with a letter to the editor, or for airing our views or vision for the world in general. Sagittarius also rules politics and things seem to really be heating up now, in that arena, esp. on a Presidential campaign level in the U.S., with prior sexual harassment allegations against Herman Cain coming to light with the Venus (in sexual Scorpio) square Neptune aspect, at the start of the week. Neptune’s nebulous ray is often involved in scandals and smear campaigns.

Also today, the Aquarius Moon is making a positive trine to stabilizing Saturn in partnership Libra (1:06 pm EDT), the sign of the public. This influence can help to steady our relationships. It’s also a good time to roll out public relations campaigns or for trying diplomatic gestures.

“To say nothing, especially when speaking, is half the art of diplomacy. “ Will Durant

In the News: The G-20 economic summit kicks off today in Cannes, France, bringing together leaders from around the world, including President Obama from the U.S. and President Sarkozy of France. Interestingly, Venus rules money and finance, and Mercury governs meetings, and both are now newly deposited in Sagittarius, a sign associated with foreign travel and international dealings. Too, with Venus and Mercury both trine to brilliant Uranus, and the Moon in clear-thinking, strategizing Aquarius, perhaps some forward-thinking progress will be made on world economic issues. We can at least hope, that this will be the case. Of course, regarding our own personal money management, we may also want to institute some new moves or strategies today. Maybe also ferret out new ways to make money.

Financial News Update: NYTimes.com is reporting today (12:46 pm EDT) that the Greek Prime Minister is calling off the referendum on the Euro Bailout Plan, which likely will be a stabilizing factor for financial markets. Interesting that this news item is being reported, too, with the Moon’s harmonious trine to Saturn, which can again serve to steady things.

Entertainment News: Simon Cowell announced on the X-Factor last night that the program had been picked up for another season, much to his delight, especially since the show is, reportedly, his own brainchild. When the X-Factor debuted in the U.S. on Sept. 21st, adventurous Mars was at 2 degrees of entertainment Leo and exactly trine to Uranus in Aries, an excellent influence for a show trying to discover very original (Uranus) talent (Leo). Also, Simon’s announcement last night came with Mercury (rules news and announcements) and Venus (governs artists and performers) in Sagittarius and both exactly trining Uranus once again. Also, with both of these planets creating a very propitious grand trine with Mars and Uranus in the natal X-Factor horoscope. As an astrologer, it is always so fascinating to see how the cycles play out and to watch things come full circle.

Do you watch the X-Factor? Do you have a favorite artist on the show? I think Drew is my favorite, although all the performers are extremely talented. It would be fun to know all of their birth times and take a look at each of their natal horoscopes. I would also like to see L.A. Reid‘s chart, he is so dynamic and cool. I love watching his physical expressions on the show when he really gets immersed in the performances.

Enjoy your Thursday!

Astrology October 31, 2011: Venus Squares Fantasy Neptune

Tags

, , , , , , , ,

COSMIC WATCH:

Although the Moon is in “keeping it real” Capricorn, that influence could be considerably muted today, as relationship Venus, in steamy Scorpio, is making a devilish square to fantasy Neptune. Neptune presides over our urge for escape. Also, our need to glamorize reality. It also rules deception and trickery. With Venus-Neptune, we often have a blind spot to the weaknesses of others. We are also more inclined to not hold others accountable for their misdeeds or transgressions, maybe because we want so much to believe the myth or fairy tale aspects about them that we have concocted in our own minds. Too, Venus-Neptune can incite our compassion, which can also serve to make us more vulnerable. We can also be attracted to types that “need rescuing” with this aspect. Romantic relationships that originate under this influence may need to stand the test of time before making a full-fledge commitment.

Also sometimes, on the shadow side, Venus-Neptune can manifest as becoming attracted to persons that have addiction issues, with Neptune governing addiction. We can also literally become “addicted to love,” or at least mentally addicted to the idea of being in love, in which case we think about, or fantasize about, being in love all the time. Or, we can fall for individuals who are not free, or who are on an entirely different wavelength than us.

Additionally, Venus-Neptune can put artists, actors, musicians, and poets on our path (all Neptune ruled types). Optimally, this influence can also accentuate our own creativity, as Venus can denote our talents and gifts and Neptune rules our powers of imagination. Too, with it being Halloween, Venus-Neptune may also be very inspiring for imaginative costume-design, as Venus rules beauty and fashion.

One more thing. We may want to be more prudent or cautious with our money today, as Venus also rules money and possessions. It is probably not a good time to make major investments or purchases, as Neptune often conceals elements from us, or distorts or misrepresents matters. Also, likely not a good day for mixing love and money.

“Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth.” Henry David Thoreau

Famous People with Venus square Neptune:  Loni Anderson, Pamela Anderson, Charles Dickens, Stevie Nicks.

Do you have Venus aligned with Neptune in your horoscope? If so, how do you think that plays out for you in your life? Also, if you have Neptune in your 5th house of romance, or 7th house of partnerships, you have an equivalent type influence.

Financial News Update: wsj.com is reporting that Japanese officials intervened, late yesterday, to weaken the yen as a way to help that country’s exports and to curb deflation. Thought this news story was rather fascinating with Venus ruling money and Neptune, the planet known as the “Great Dissolver,” traditionally having a dissolving or disintegrating affect on matters. In this case, dilluting the yen? Stock markets are also lower today around the world. Venus-Neptune often translates into financial fears, with Neptune again exerting an undermining influence.

Enjoy your Monday. Happy Halloween!

Astrology October 30, 2011: Moon Sextiles Dreamy Neptune

COSMIC WATCH:

The first half of the day, the Moon finishes up her monthly stay in starry-eyed Sagittarius, where we are still, no doubt, eager to impart vestiges of our sacred vision of the future to anyone that we can cleverly seduce to hold royal court with us. 🙂 The fact that we also have idealistic, dreamy Neptune in futuristic Aquarius joining us for that “sermon on the mount,” via the harmonious sextile aspect (9:30 am EDT), is most assuredly, an extra feather in our cap. This is also very nice energy for immersion into humanitarian causes, as Neptune governs our compassionate impulses, as well as our imagination and creativity. Too, the Sadge Moon naturally inclines us to want to make a positive or uplifting contribution to the collective, in some way.

Later, the Moon’s descent into pragmatic Capricorn (12:39 pm EDT), the Saturnian school of hard knocks, has us quickly exiting the cumulus stratosphere for the safety and security of the more grounded earth plane. The Capricorn Moon is always that time of the month when we are inclined to buckle down and get serious with our practical goals and intentions for ourselves. However, we will also initially need to be very flexible, maybe even innovative, as the Moon is squaring rebellious, non-conforming Uranus in spontaneous Aries (2:53 pm EDT), a time which can find us dealing with unexpected twists and turns.

Fortunately for us, though, the late evening hours are potentially very regenerative and healing, as the Moon forms a trine to fortuitous Jupiter in financial Taurus (9:19 pm EDT) and a conjunction with transforming Pluto in worldly Capricorn (9:58 pm EDT). Too, we still do have expansive Jupiter in a trine aspect with Pluto (this was exact on Friday), so tonight’s energies help us to tap into that magical configuration once again. This may particularly be an advantageous evening for plotting career or business moves that are revitalizing.

“To work for the common good is the greatest creed.” Albert Schweitzer

Are you satisfied with your work or career path? Does it give you a sense of fulfillment? What is often fun to do with a natal chart is see how a person’s Sun is aspected. The Sun symbolizes our ego and power source and often the closest aspects to it seem to shed light on our special “mission in life.” In my chart, for example, I have the Sun exactly sextile Uranus which rules, among other things, astrology. I also have a tight square to probing Pluto and I majored in psychology in college, a subject which Pluto governs. I have always been deeply fascinated with human behavior. I have often thought, too, I would have made a great detective, as I have Mars, ruling law enforcement, in my career house and a Martian-ruled Aries rising. Of course, in a way, I am a “cosmic detective,”  attempting to uncover the celestial influences surreptitiously at play in our lives.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Astrology October 29, 2011: Inquisitive Sagittarius Moon

COSMIC WATCH:

The inquisitive Sagittarius Moon is a steady invite to spread our wings and enthusiastically explore new horizons, both physically and mentally. This sign is linked with publishing, writing, teaching, self-marketing and promotion, travel, religion, philosophy and higher education. The Sadge Moon’s late night sextile to serious Saturn in partnership Libra (11:18 pm EDT) also offers us a marvelous chance for disciplined study and maybe sharing or journaling about the accumulated wisdom that we have amassed in the course of trucking through our daily lives, as Moon Saturn tends to help us evaluate matters in a very distilled way. This energy also naturally favors introspection or looking back, with Saturn reverently standing sentry over the past.

Astrology October 27, 2011: Moon Continues in Scorpio

Tags

, , , , , , , , ,

COSMIC WATCH:

In wake of yesterday’s potent New Moon, the intensity level remains high, as the Moon continues its passage through “all-or-nothing” Scorpio, where it can prompt more extreme forms of behavior, or the taking of extreme measures. Our keen appetite for unraveling mysteries, solving riddles, digging beneath the surface of things can also bring tangible rewards, along with very dramatic insights. Particularly with the Moon’s monthly conjunction with logical communicator Mercury (10:09 pm EDT), an aspect which allows us to deftly blend our emotional awareness into mesmerizing words or speech.

Our passions and desires are also at a peak level of expression as the Scorpio Moon forms a potent square to assertive Mars in dramatic Leo (10:57 pm EDT), an aspect that also raises the potential for discord or clashes, if we fail to consider other’s sensitivities or needs.

“Courteousness is consideration for others; politeness is the method used to deliver such considerations.” Bryant H. McGill

Famous People with Moon in Scorpio: Steven Spielberg, Patrick Stewart, Elizabeth Hurley, Whoopi Golberg

In the News: European leaders finally agreed to a deal to reduce Greece’s debt, early this morning, after convening yesterday for a marathon session. As part of the agreement, private banks have reportedly agreed to voluntarily lower Greek debt held by 50%.

Fascinatingly, Scorpio is the zodiacal sign that governs debt and credit. Yesterday’s New Moon in Scorpio also favorably sextiled transforming Pluto, the modern day ruler of Scorpio, suggesting that some sort of deal might be struck.

Too, we have transiting, fortuitous Jupiter, in money-ruling Taurus, harmoniously trine to Pluto (exact on Friday), a very powerful aspect of transmutation that has a legacy for dramatically changing the landscape around us, especially as it pertains to shared resources (Pluto and Scorpio). As I mentioned yesterday, too, in my blog, Jupiter-Pluto aspects are often linked with mega-money transactions in the collective. (News story from wsj.com) CNBC is also reporting (mid-morning) that the Dow is on track today for its biggest one month percentage gain in the month of October.

Additionally, President Obama announced yesterday that he will authorize changes in federal policy to make college loans more affordable and easier to repay for up to 1.6 million borrowers. (From Washingtonpost.com)

Astrology October 26, 2011: New Moon in Scorpio

Tags

, , , , , , , , ,

COSMIC WATCH:

There’s a New Moon today in intense, probing Scorpio (3:57 pm EDT), the sign of death and rebirth. The Scorpio New Moon puts a focus on shared resources, investigation, personal transformation, and purging or recycling. This is a great time for us to go in depth with things. Or to do, or perhaps discover, whatever it is that we are passionate about, as Scorpio energy helps to align us with our heart’s innermost desires.

It is also a wonderful time to eliminate or prune non-essential or outworn elements (behaviors) from our lives. Especially since the New Moon is forming a harmonious sextile to insightful, paring Pluto, the modern day ruler of Scorpio. This Moon-Pluto aspect is akin to having a “double-whammy” of regenerating Scorpio energy at our disposal.

The New Moon is also opposing philosophical Jupiter, retrograde in financial Taurus. This configuration can have a more expansive impact on our outlook, as Jupiter formally governs our urge to grow.  Too, Jupiter, is forming a potent trine to renewing Pluto (exact on the 28th), which is also suggesting that we have a robust opportunity to significantly change or alter the playing field around us now in a positive way, especially if we concentrate our efforts and play to our strengths. We may also discover or claim resources that we never knew we had with this influence. Also, we may be able to profitably pool what we have with others as a way to have or gain more wealth. Jupiter Pluto can also specifically denote scenarios involving mega-wealth and can deliver to us experiences in which we are able to wield mega-influence.

In addition to today’s inspiring New Moon, another cosmic perk that we have going for us now is energizing, self-assertive Mars, in proud, confident Leo, is exactly sextiling stabilizing, anchoring Saturn in balancing Libra. This bodes well for our being able to be more disciplined and industrious in going after what we want. It also helps to supply us with more patience and resourcefulness.  The main kink in today’s stellar lineup may be romantic Venus’s square aspect to warrior Mars, which could find us sparring with our mate or partner. Although, the kiss and make up period afterwards could be fun. 🙂 Venus-Mars is a very sensual influence. People who have Venus-Mars aspects in their natal charts are usually very sexy.

“It is the passion that is in a kiss that gives to it its sweetness; it is the affection in a kiss that sanctifies it.” Christian Nevell Bovee.

One more thing: We will want to pay close attention to the particular house, in our personal horoscopes, that the New Moon is occurring in, as that is the area of our life where we are poised for a fresh start and where we also may have a potent chance for regeneration or renewal.

Scorpio governs the following areas or activities: matters of credit or debt; loans; taxes; joint finances; wills and estates; insurance; surgery and or healing interventions; purging and recycling; psychology; medical research; investigations; sex and intimacy; secrets, or whatever is hidden; obsessions; death and transformation; seances.

Happy New Moon Blessings!

Astrology October 24, 2011: Moon in Balancing Libra

Tags

, , , , , , , ,

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon’s ingress into diplomatic Libra (11:50 am EDT) usually bodes well for helping us to maintain our poise and calm. Libra is, after all, the sign of balance and the scales.  However, achieving an unruffled demeanor may not necessarily be a cakewalk this afternoon, or this evening, with the Moon’s opposition to erratic, rebellious Uranus (2:12 pm EDT) and controlling Pluto (8:12 pm EDT).  Times when we could easily feel more at odds with others, or suddenly more personally challenged to prove ourselves. Still, in the end, it may be wisest to avoid power skirmishes, altogether, and simply try to find some common ground, if at all possible. That seems to be our big homework assignment for today. I’m also thinking here of that fab morsel of wisdom: Never let them see you sweat! Too, we do now have the Sun, Mercury and Venus in secretive, mysterious Scorpio, so we are very capable of camouflage, or going undercover, when it suits our purpose.

Of course, to add a little tortuous salt into the wound today is Mercury in Scorpio’s stubborn sesquiquadrate aspect to quirky, jittery Uranus in impulsive Aries. This influence is good for throwing us some unexpected, or perplexing, intellectual curve balls. It can also poise us to be a bit hasty and or defiant in our judgment. Again, remaining flexible and focused on our intentions and long-term goals, and not giving in to momentary whims or pressures, seems to be the best way for us to proudly predominate over the rogue cosmic forces. 🙂
