Astrology December 12 2011: Cancer Moon Sextiles Mars

COSMIC WATCH:

With the Moon in feminine, protective Cancer all day, the sign that it rules, we have a perfect opportunity to affirm and embrace our sensitive emotional nature. Resolving to express our emotions as we feel them also allows our feelings to naturally flow through us in a very positive and healing manner. Our emotions can be telltale messengers for us, so it is always very important to pay attention to them. Paying attention to our feelings can also help to firmly ground us in the power and potential of the present moment.

Additionally, the Cancer Moon’s harmonious sextile to energetic Mars in accomodating Virgo (11:09 am EST) not only helps us in successfully getting our needs met, it also creates an effective, supportive backdrop whereby we can lovingly reach out and extend our tender caring to others. Letting them know that they are not alone.

“A smile is the light in your window that tells others that there is a caring, sharing person inside.” Denis Waitley

Famous People with Moon in Cancer: Clint Eastwood, Mary J. Blige, Farrah Fawcett

Today’s Affirmation: My feelings shelter me and protect me like a warm blanket.

How are you feeling today? What do you think your feelings are trying to tell you now about yourself or maybe your life situation?

Mid-morning News Update: WSJ.com is reporting that the U.S. Supreme Court today has decided to rule on a controversial Arizona statute that targets illegal immigrants and whether that statute is a violation of federal law. I thought this development was very interesting, as the Moon is in Cancer today, the sign of the home and family. Cancer also governs such things as nationalism and protectionism. The Sun and Mercury are also in Sagittarius, which rules the law and also specifically deals with immigration matters and foreign cultures. Mercury, too, is getting ready to station direct in Sagittarius tomorrow, calling more attention to Sagittarius-ruled matters. Also, this decision was rendered with the Cancer Moon applying to a sextile to Mars in analytical, evaluating Virgo, with Moon-Mars perhaps helping the matter take shape. Mars, the energy planet, supplies momentum for our affairs.

Enjoy your Monday!

Astrology December 10, 2011: Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Gemini

Tags

, , , , , , ,

COSMIC WATCH:

A Full Moon / Total Lunar Eclipse is occurring today at 18 degrees of Gemini (9:38 am EST), the sign of thinking and communication. Full Moons tend to be revelatory in nature, illuminating matters that had previously been hidden or obscured from view. They also represent a time of release or letting go of the past. More potent eclipses can also signify dramatic, abrupt endings that sometimes take us by surprise. Interestingly, the last time we had a lunar eclipse at this very same degree, was back on December 9, 1992, when Prince Charles and Princess Diana reportedly announced publicly that they were separating, a declaration that instantly reverberated around the world and shocked many.

With erratic, freedom-loving Uranus, the planet of revolution and change, also stationing direct today exactly at the Aries point, after a 5-month retrograde period, this may be a day or time period of greater uncertainty and even some major paradigm shifts in our consciousness. Accordingly, some of us may feel more of a need to break free now from whatever is holding us back from expressing our true, authentic self. Included in this process may be the need to reject some of the cookie-cutter socialization that has prevented us from living out our best destiny. Gemini is also the sign that has to do with our early conditioning.

Too, on a collective level, widespread street protests are reportedly planned today in many parts of Russia over allegations of election fraud in last Sunday’s parliamentary election which saw Vladimir Putin’s United Russia party win by a slim margin. The last time that Russia saw protests of this scope and magnitude was twenty years ago (what I heard on CNN last night).

In our personal horoscopes we will want to note what house contains 18 degrees of Gemini, as that is the area of life that is being activated now and also the part of our life where we may need to do some releasing or letting go. By polarity, the house opposite to it, too, will also be affected. Also, we will want to see whether the lunar eclipse degree is aspecting other planets or sensitive points in our charts. Additionally, it is also normally a good idea to wait a few days before making major changes with a full moon/lunar eclipse, as we want to allow ourselves some time to digest or adjust to whatever is being revealed to us now.

“Nothing is more terrible than activity without insight.” Thomas Carlyle

Today’s affirmation: I lovingly let go of the past and fully embrace the richness and fullness of the present moment.

Midday News Update: The Huffington Post is reporting that “three women who fought injustice, dictatorship and sexual violence in Liberia and Yemen” accepted the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize today in Oslo, Norway. The trio also reportedly “called on women worldwide to rise up against male supremacy.” Another indication of the awakening Uranian revolution?

Happy eclipse blessings!

Astrology December 8, 2011: Sun Aligns With Jupiter

Tags

, , , , , ,

COSMIC WATCH:

The Sun in zealous Sagittarius is forming a frictional 135-degree linkup to exaggerating Jupiter in bullish Taurus. We are cautioned not to go overboard with our resources today. Or, get too caught up in the realm of grandiose thinking. Since the practical Taurus Moon is also making a square to fantasy Neptune (6:40 pm EST) we can make our lives much less complicated by sticking mainly with the facts of matters and discounting innuendo or rumors. It is also wise to hold ourselves accountable now instead of trying to escape our circumstances.

Fortunately, later, the Moon’s shift into thinker Gemini (9:54 pm EST), and an awakening Moon-Uranus sextile (11:10 pm EST), supplies us with all the keen cerebral insight and originality we need to cleverly solve our problems and heroically close out the day. Moon-Uranus perennially serves to align us with our inner genius. This is also a good time to deal with technology matters. Or maybe even try our hand at invention.

“All perceiving is also thinking, all reasoning is also intuition, all observation is also invention.” Rudolph Arnheim

Famous People with Moon Sextile Uranus: Dick Cheney, Prince Charles.

Today’s Affirmation: My thoughts are grounded and I can see my way clearly.

Enjoy your Thursday!

Astrology December 7, 2011: Moon Trines Mars and Venus

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon in patient, plodding Taurus makes a harmonious trine to assertive Mars in skillful Virgo (10:04 am EST) allowing us to tackle tasks with efficiency. This is also excellent energy for any mentoring type activities. Moon trine Mars suggests a positive agreement between our emotional and physical energy. The Taurus Moon is additionally forming a flowing, 120-degree hookup with social Venus in influential Capricorn (1:48 pm EST). This aspect favors business networking and dealings with women in general. Moon-Venus is a classic aspect of popularity in which we can naturally showcase our talents and charms. Venus actually presides over our magical power of attraction.

“Charm is the quality in others that makes us more satisfied with ourselves.” Henri Frederic Amiel

Today’s Affirmation: I am charming and lovable.

What do you think is your most lovable quality?

Enjoy your Wednesday!

Astrology December 6, 2011: Moon Conjuncts Abundant Jupiter

Tags

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon’s foray into practical, earthy Taurus (9:36 am EST) makes today an excellent day to attend to money and possession matters. The Moon is considered to be exalted when it is in Taurus, a sign that is ruled by sweet Venus. Too, the Moon is making its monthly conjunction with fortuitous Jupiter (11:38 am EST) helping to put us in a more positive, generous frame of mind. Moon-Jupiter is often a very expansive influence that can align us with fresh opportunities.

Later, the Moon’s trine to transforming Pluto (10:39 pm EST) serves to heighten our emotions and passions. This is also a very good time to de-clutter, if we are so inclined. Too, when we rid ourselves of what is outworn or no longer needed, this allows for new pleasures and experiences to come into our lives.

“Clutter-clearing is modern-day alchemy.” Denise Linn

Today’s Affirmation:  Today is full of joy and abundance.

Astrology December 5, 2011: Venus Trines Sexy Mars

Tags

COSMIC WATCH:

We may want to take a stab at romance today, as love goddess, Venus, makes a sizzling trine to amorous Mars, the planetary ruler of desire. The Moon’s placement in bold, self-confident Aries also helps to free us from our inhibitions. This is also an excellent day for creative self-expression and for winning others over on the career front.

“I need the star shine of your heavenly eyes, after the day’s great sun.” Charles Hanson Towne

Astrology December 4, 2011: Mercury Squares Feisty Mars

Tags

, , , , , , , , ,

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon in irrepressible Aries encourages us to be more assertive and active. A Mercury-Saturn semi-square, however, may mean that we may have some challenges getting others to agree with our brilliant ideas, as Mercury-Saturn tends to carry more of a disapproving theme to it. This same influence can also serve to awaken our own inner critic.

Too, retrograde Mercury, in blunt Sagittarius, is conjunct the Sun and square to feisty Mars, in correcting Virgo, so we will want to make sure that incendiary words do not needlessly inflame matters.  No doubt, a fabulous day to make frequent use of our system’s nifty, “pause button” feature – as a way to avoid impulsively engaging the venomous foot into the mouth. 🙂

“Fill your bowl to the brim and it will spill. Keep sharpening your knife and it will blunt.” Lao Tzu

Today’s Affirmation: I choose to use words that heal today instead of words that wound.

In the News: Sagittarius is the sign that governs politics. On Saturday, with the Sadge Sun separating from a square to action-oriented Mars, in critical Virgo, and decision-maker Mercury in Sagittarius, also applying to a square to Mars, Republican Presidential hopeful, Herman Cain, formally suspended his political campaign for 2012, citing the continued distraction of allegations of sexual misconduct and infidelity, allegations which he has repeatedly denied. Sun-Mars and Mercury-Mars aspects often correlate with our feeling pressured to take pivotal action on matters. Too, Cain’s poll ratings had been nosediving in recent weeks. The Moon was additionally in dissolving Pisces on Saturday, a time when things are often phased out.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Astrology November 26, 2011: The Eclipse Works Magic For NBA

Tags

, , , , , ,

The National Basketball Association and its players have reportedly reached a tentative deal to end the 148-day lockout, according to the NYT.com, which is also reporting that the deal was agreed to on Black Friday, the same day as the partial solar eclipse at 2 degrees 37 minutes of Sagittarius. (Other news outlets are reporting the deal was reached early Saturday morning.) The NBA reportedly plans to start the season on Christmas Day and play a 66-game schedule. (Wonder if this agreement may be modified, though, later, in wake of Mercury being retrograde? Too, the deal still has to be approved by both the owners and players. Mercury rules agreements and negotiations.)

As I mentioned earlier in my Eclipse blog, this lunation in Sagittarius formed a positive, flowing trine to change-agent Uranus, in “new beginnings” Aries, suggesting more of a desire, both individually and collectively, to want to break with the past and move forward. Potentially, also boding well for ending difficult stalemates or impasses. Uranus also has a legacy with bringing about sudden breakthroughs in our stream of consciousness. Aries is also the sign that rules sports, while Sagittarius rules legal matters. The tentative NBA deal was reportedly agreed to at a Midtown Manhattan law office.

Too, New Moons, by their very nature, tend to coincide with fresh starts, while eclipses often bring about sudden endings.

Interestingly, this eclipse was also squared by energizing Mars in Virgo, the sign of labor, which perhaps helped to provide extra impetus to take sudden action to end this NBA labor dispute. Mars tends to give matters momentum. The eclipse also formed a quinqunx aspect to expansive Jupiter in financial Taurus, denoting the huge financial aspect at stake here for the NBA owners and players. The NBA reportedly generates $4 billion annually in revenues. No paltry sum by any stretch of the imagination.

Do you plan on watching any of the NBA games, when they start back up?  BTW, how did you fare with yesterday’s eclipse? Score any “slam dunks” with it? If not, don’t despair. There’s still some time. The eclipse point or degree stays activated for up to six months in our personal charts, although we usually feel some kind of “pop” from it, a few days on either side of the event.

Astrology November 21, 2011: Moon is in Agreeable Libra

Tags

, , , , , , ,

COSMIC WATCH:

We may be more amenable to getting along with others today, with the Moon in agreeable, diplomatic Libra, the official sign of “the other.” Connection Queen, Venus, the ruler of Libra, is also getting ready to harmoniously sextile stabilizing Saturn, an aspect that is exact early tomorrow (3:20 am EST).  The more serious Venus-Saturn aspect often helps us perceive and or evaluate our relationships from a more practical or utilitarian point of view. This influence can also make us much more commitment-oriented and duty-bound.

On another level, Venus-Saturn is often linked with the formation of “May-December” romances, with Saturn denoting more senior type persons and also father figures.

Astrology November 20, 2011: Sun Squares Veiled Neptune

Tags

, , , , , , , , ,

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon in “analytical” Virgo poises us to want to figure things out, or to simply look for the logic in everyday matters. However, it may be trickier to ascertain or collect all the facts today as the probing Scorpio Sun is making an exact square to evasive, foggy Neptune (3:42 pm EST), an aspect which tends to veil or skew our perceptions and, accordingly, can make us a bit more confused. Also, on the shadow side, we are more prone to deception from others – and from ourselves now.

Dreamy Neptune also rules the urge for escape or fantasy, so we may find it harder to comfortably settle down now into our daily routines.  One positive way to go with the Neptunian flow may be to immerse ourselves in more creative type projects, such as painting, photography, poetry, song-writing or dancing. Neptune is the planet that governs our imagination.

This evening, the Moon shifts into social Libra (8:17 pm EST) and also makes its monthly opposition to freedom-loving Uranus (9:36 pm EST). This could translate into our suddenly wanting more “wiggle room” in our relationships. This aspect can also give us a penchant for wanting to pair up with more “unconventional types.”

”To know when to go away and when to come closer is the key to any lasting relationship.”  ~ Doménico Cieri Estrada

Famous People with Sun square Neptune: Jennifer Aniston, Kevin Costner, Cameron Diaz.

Neptune rules the following: oil, the sea and maritime interests, chemicals, paint, narcotics and drug companies, matters involving spirituality and mysticism, meditation, prayer, the movies and film-making, actors and actresses, songwriters, dancers, poets, painters, martyrs, prisoners, the downtrodden, hospitals, shelters, and places of confinements, scandals and cover-ups, all manner of disguises, swindlers and con-men, addictions and addicts, psychic phenomena, cosmetics, fragrances or perfume, aromatherapy.

Enjoy your Sunday! But, do be careful about drinking too much of the Neptunian Kool-Aid! This, of course, especially applies to the twelve members of the “Super Committee” in Washington. You know, guys, we’re counting on you! (No matter that mental Mercury is also getting ready to go retrograde in “let’s just gloss over the details” Sagittarius. That’s a whole other can of worms!) 🙂
