Cosmic Weather:

Unlike yesterday, the first day of the new year, when the Moon was still nestled in reflective Pisces (for most of the day), we’re finally presumably ready now to pivot full-speed ahead into 2020 with the waxing Moon deposited in “start-me-up” Aries, all day, the very first sign of the zodiac and a Moon sign that is notorious for acting with a heightened sense of urgency. The Moon in Mars-ruled Aries characteristically tends to animate and quicken our emotional expression.

Luna will also be reaching her First Quarter Phase, late tonight (11:45 pm), which can also motivate us to get going on the intentions that we may have nobly set during the Solar Eclipse in Capricorn, last week. Often, too, during a First Quarter Moon, we’re naturally feeling a bit of inner angst as we see some of the puzzle pieces (our intentions) start to fall into place, but we’re still not quite sure what the end result might be. Kind of like we’re peeking into the oven window now, checking to see whether or not the cake is rising, all the time wondering: Did we add enough flour? Put in enough eggs? Did we even remember to turn on the frickin’ oven before we plopped it in? 🙂

With the instinctual Moon in pioneering Aries also squaring the power-brokering Sun in more traditionally-minded Capricorn we’re also possibly weighing whether or not we should just play it safe and toe-the-company-line now or whether we may need, instead, to bust out and play by our own impressive rule book, which we’re likely making up moment-by-manic moment.

Fortunately, intellectual Mercury is also conjunct expansive Jupiter in earthy Capricorn today (11:42 am), which should help to supply all of us with a bevy of big, yet solid ideas on what to do next with regard to our fabulous, exciting lives in this brand spanking new decade. Optimistic Jupiter is the planet of vision and while he, yes, does love to bloviate, and can exaggerate, he can also help us to see the bigger picture as well as inspire us to go for it. Too, Saturn-ruled Capricorn energy is very structuring, very foundational, very purposeful in nature so, actually, this Mercury-Jupiter conjunction in Capricorn is perfect for us now, at the start of the year, because we’re less inclined to be fooling or deluding ourselves with, essentially, pie-in-the-sky ideas. Rather, we’re potentially channeling really powerful, usable “heady stuff” from the muses now that can duly advance us along on our own special life path, with an added Jupiterian spring in our step, thrown in for good measure.

In general, Mercury conjunct Jupiter is excellent for such things as publishing, writing, promotions, conducting interviews, crafting or giving speeches, business planning, announcing business mergers, enrolling in new classes, and putting on or developing motivational seminars. It’s also often an aspect when we may hear “good news,” or we’re at least able to put a positive spin on whatever may come down the pike.

Too, since it’s the start of a new decade, I thought I would also put an extra “Mercury-Jupiter” flourish on this, my very first blog of the year. I have intuitively drawn a Tarot Card for “the energy of the day” and it is the Ten of Pentacles, which I’m ecstatic about because it’s not only one of my favorite cards, but it’s also normally regarded as a celebratory card, as well as card of success and abundance, suggesting, among other things, that we’re more able to enjoy or fully partake in the realm of earthly pleasures (Pentacles) now while also being able to more fully express or showcase who we really are (the culmination of the number ten). It’s like we’ve done the work, paid the dues, and now we’re ready for the bestowing upon us of our perceived just rewards.

Anyway, Happy New Year! I hope it’s a good one for you!

Cosmic Weather:

It’s sort of like we’re being treated to a heavenly (or dubious?) “double-header” today!

First, we have sweet Venus conjunct “Cosmic Santa” Jupiter in blue, sunshiny skies Sagittarius (8:33 am), typically an aspect associated with abundance and blessings, and having more of what we want or desire.

Then, in the second go-round, we have double-daring Mars in fearless Scorpio opposing “wild-child” Uranus in “own it till you drop” Taurus (11:50 am). Kinda like we suddenly choose to depart from a cozy path of riches or lavishness, with all the super cool celebratory partying, and stellar romance with attractive hunks – the whole nine yards – to goofily challenge ourselves to abruptly perform the equivalent of a frickin’ high-wire act without a safety net! All in part, because we “existentially” may have a burning need now to free ourselves from the assorted rat traps we’ve managed to mindlessly create for ourselves, over time. Really hard to know what the gods were thinking with this one! Anyway, hopefully, it will all have a happy ending and we’ll finally get our prince. 🙂

abundance, can-do spirit, cooperation, daily astrology, Full Moon in Taurus 2019, transition

Cosmic Weather:

(Full Moon in Taurus at 19 degrees 51 minutes of Taurus)

We have a Full Moon in placid, sustaining Taurus, this morning (8:34 am), always a perfect time to slow down, catch our breath, tune into the ages-old, supportive wisdom of our bodies, interact with Mother Nature. The sign of Taurus governs or symbolizes our feelings of abundance, security, our values. It’s basically linked to what we love, and how we like to spend our time.

The “keeping it simple” Moon in Taurus is also a natural counter to the more “multi-layered, crisis-oriented” Sun in Scorpio. Today’s lunation is about balancing and integrating both of these opposing energies within us. There may also be more of a preoccupation now with solidifying our sense of emotional security, especially in the context of home and family. We may also be balancing out, or specifying, “what is mine” and “what is yours”, on a practical level, in partnerships, as well as distinguishing what it is that we wish to “share together.”

Full Moons also tend to bring matters to a climax, or fruition. What was begun at the New Moon in investigative Scorpio, a couple weeks ago, is now ripening, or coming to completion. Full Moons also can reveal or yield secrets, hidden mysteries.

Aspect-wise, today’s Full Moon in solid Taurus forms flowing trines to both regenerating Pluto and structuring Saturn in utilitarian Capricorn, suggesting we have an excellent chance now to deal with any transitions, before us, in a very pragmatic, determined, and resourceful way. The Moon-Pluto energy also very nicely ties into, or bridges, the more intense Scorpio Sun energy, with Pluto being the modern-day ruler of Scorpio. We can still go deep (Scorpio) with things now, but there’s less risk of emotional obsessions or fixations (Pluto) with the trine aspect. Normally, too, Moon-Pluto helps to foster feelings of empowerment.

We also are potentially feeling more intuitive, more inspired, more connected now to our link with divinity, or to our Source, or to the Universe, as the Taurus Full Moon is sextile to mystical Neptune in Pisces. Making it much easier for us to naturally lean into our reservoir of inner faith, like a trusty guide, to get us through whatever we are facing. Moon-Neptune is also terrific for any creative endeavors and for inciting our compassion,

The Taurus Moon’s opposition to logical Mercury in probing Scorpio also gives us an opportunity to analyze our emotions, or to do a “heart and head” check with ourselves, to see how we stand on things. Worst case scenario, it can make us a little more scattered, mentally.

What’s also a big extra perk for us today, in addition to the delightful Full Moon in Taurus (one of the best lunations of the year), is we have energizing Mars, in relationship-building Libra, forming a closing sextile to expansive Jupiter in adventurous Sagittarius (1:21 pm), which is also one of the last major aspects to Jupiter before it leaves futuristic Sagittarius, early next month. This aspect has “Can Do!” written all over it! It’s especially super energy for attending to all those Jupiter in Sadge projects we’ve been meaning to do (writing, publishing, travel plans, evangelizing, etc) but just haven’t gotten around to yet. Additionally, it’s excellent energy for dealing with issues of diversity, inclusion, fairness, and equality under the law. It can help inspire us to open or clear pathways, so we can all work together more harmoniously or cooperatively. Also very good for such things as PR and marketing.

Today’s Astrology August 8, 2019: Venus Trines Jupiter

Cosmic Weather:

“May you never become so cynical that you let a star fall without its wish.” Nicole Lyons

Today’s cosmic energy (“power of attraction” Venus in magnanimous Leo trining “abundant” Jupiter Rx in philanthropic Sagittarius) formally invites the “Fairy Godmother” (archetype) to suddenly appear in our lives, ideally granting us each three wishes while also spreading much-needed kindness and love all around the globe. Kind of a tough act to beat or follow. Let’s just hope that she still has all her manifestation powers intact and doesn’t run out of golden parachutes before she gets around to you and me! 🙂

Generally, when Venus (love) and Jupiter (optimism) align there’s more of a desire to “lift ourselves up” on all levels, both individually and collectively. There’s also more of a desire for seeking out pleasurable pursuits. It’s always so cool, too, when we forget about our woes and worries, for a while, and do something fun or enjoyable because we often feel so much better afterward, physically, mentally, and emotionally. This “feel-good energy” is also partly because the brain releases the “happiness hormones” (endorphins, dopamine, and serotonin) when we’re having a good time or feeling relaxed and confident.

Today (August 8) is also an “8” day and reduces down to a “1” (when you add up the numbers for the day, month, and year). In Chinese culture, the number 8 is associated with wealth, fortune or prosperity. Astrologically, the number 8 is linked with the planet Saturn and responsibility. The number one is also ruled by the Sun and portends leadership ability and creative new beginnings. Overall, an 8-1 day suggests great determination and know-how to forge through any obstacles to get to where you want to be. In the Tarot, these two numbers are also symbolized by the Magician Card (One) and the Strength Card (8).

Finally, waxing Luna will also be wrapping up her stay in emotionally charged Scorpio, this afternoon (4:34 pm), at which time she’ll be flitting into “home on the range” Sagittarius, where she’ll be scoping out bunches of greener pastures. The inspirational Sadge Moon backdrop is also hopefully a perfect setting for allowing the more voluminous Venus-Jupiter energy (exact at 4:27 pm) to work its golden, fairy-dust magic.

“The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.” W.B. Yeats

All times EDT

On This Day in History: On August 8, 1968, the Republican Convention in Miami Beach, Florida nominates Richard Nixon (b. January 9, 1913) for US President.

Astrologically, that day, transiting Mars, the energizer, was newly-installed in leadership Leo, at 2 degrees of the sign (in Nixon’s 11th house of friends and groups). Transiting Saturn, the Lord of Karma, was also stationing retrograde in assertive, self-willed Aries, the sign of new beginnings.

Transiting Mars in Leo was also exactly opposite Nixon’s natal Uranus, the planet of change and the unexpected, at 2 degrees of Aquarius (in Nixon’s fifth house of self-expression). Mars-Uranus aspects sometimes instantly change the world or landscape around us, often in radical or game-shifting ways.

Too, Nixon had transiting Pluto, symbolizing rebirth and transformation, conjunct his Virgo Ascendant or First House (the house of personal new beginnings). Pluto also symbolizes the urge for power and control and conjunct the Ascendant it can mark a time when we become more persuasive or influential in the world. On the shadow side, too, Pluto can potentially make us more of a control freak. (Nixon would later resign as President on August 9, 1974, or forty-five years ago, tomorrow, when the transiting South Node in Gemini was exactly conjunct his Midheaven or career house. In the sky that day, too, transiting Mars in corrective Virgo was separating from an exact square to dissolving Neptune (the planet of deception) in politician-ruling Sagittarius. Mars-Neptune aspects are often associated with surrender or capitulation. That aspect also matched the uncertainty or “up in the air” quality that America was going through at the time. Challenging Mars-Neptune aspects are often described as being similar to having a rug pulled out from under you.

“Only if you have been in the deepest valley, can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain.” Richard Nixon

Hope it’s a good one!

“You have to be uncomfortable in order to be successful, in some ways. If you stay in your comfort zone you would never do the things that you need to do.” Lights Poxlietner

COSMIC WATCH:

Comfort zones can be cozy and reassuring for a while – kind of like putting meat and potatoes on our plate; we know what to expect.  But sooner or later, it seems that most of us have a desire to move beyond the standard fare and explore or sample something new, even if we may eventually, seemingly, revert back to our old, effortless ways. The thing is, once we have stretched ourselves, and allowed in a bit more of the world around us, we are forever changed, to some degree. Heard someone say the other day,“Once you view things from the top, things below never quite appear the same.”

Today, with the empowering Sun, in renewing Scorpio, trining optimistic Jupiter (9:34 am EST), the planet of growth and abundance, we appear to be receiving an enthusiastic, cosmic nod from the Universe to go ahead and choose new entrees from the menu, metaphorically speaking, even though we may be pretty sure, in advance, that unless there’s also meat and potatoes, somewhere in the mix, we probably won’t really be too crazy about what is served up to us.

Sarah Ban Breathnach, author of Simple Abundance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy, eloquently reminds us, though, that we always have a choice in the matter, regarding whether or not we want to stay wedded to the past. ”Today expect something good to happen to you (Sun trine Jupiter) no matter what occurred yesterday. Realize the past no longer holds you captive. It can only continue to hurt you if you hold on to it. Let the past go. A simply abundant world awaits.”

What one action could you take today that would bring you more joy and contentment, qualities traditionally associated with benefic Jupiter? What do you think is also at the core of having an “abundant life?” Too, does abundance necessarily equate with having “more of something?” How might having “less of something” really be an abundant blessing in disguise?

Also, the sign placement of Jupiter, in our natal charts, along with how that planet is aspected, can provide us with clues as to how we experience a feeling of abundance in our lives and what variables/activities may lead to it.

Astrology in the News?: According to the Wall Street Journal, American Airlines and US Airways have reportedly reached a settlement today with the U.S. Justice Department over their proposed, planned merger to create the world’s largest airline. In astrology, both Mercury and Jupiter govern the travel industry, with Uranus specifically covering aviation. Perhaps the Sun trine Jupiter today, along with Mercury’s trine to Neptune, may have exerted a positive influence here in hammering out this agreement. Sun-Jupiter can also be representative of big business. Jupiter is also often a factor when gargantuan enterprises are involved, such as creating the world’s largest airline. Of course, we also have change agent Uranus still exactly squaring transforming Pluto, which can also reconfigure matters.

Famous November 12 Birthdays: Tonya Harding, Neil Young, Princess Grace of Monacco.

”When at last I took the time to look into the heart of a flower, it opened up a whole new world; a world where every country walk would be an adventure, where every garden would become an enchanted one.” Princess Grace

Enjoy your Tuesday! Live from abundance.

COSMIC WATCH:

The empowering Sun in Taurus is having its annual conjunction with generous Jupiter (9:23 am EDT), a planet that is often billed as the Cosmic Santa. Ideally, this configuration will foster in us a greater sense of optimism and well-being. This is a fabulous day to dream big and envision the world as our oyster.

Communicator Mercury is also trining energizer Mars (4:54 pm EDT) allowing us to express ourselves persuasively with words. This is a wonderful aspect for lively conversation and also for strategic thinking, especially with Mars in analytical Virgo.

The Moon’s immersion into compassionate Pisces also makes it timely to display forgiveness and mercy. Extending the olive branch may be the right thing to do now – especially since Sun-Jupiter can also help us to see the best in others. “Forgiveness is like faith. You have to keep reviving it.” Mason Cooley

Famous People with Sun conjunct Jupiter:  Garth Brooks, Mick Jagger.

BTW, Jagger will be hosting the season finale of “Saturday Night Live” next Saturday. He is also slated to perform on the show. Jagger has his expansive Sun-Jupiter conjunction in entertainment Leo, which should come as no surprise. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Rolling Stones.

COSMIC WATCH:

Jupiter, the planet of optimism and opportunity, is in harmonious alignment with the Sun, our power source and sense of self. The Moon is also in “pioneering” Aries. We are encouraged to act with confidence today and to mingle socially with others, particularly with those who are perceived to be authority figures or our superiors (Sun), as we have a chance to really shine now in their presence, which could help us to get ahead. The energy of the day is also conducive for undertaking new personal beginnings, or making headway with our goals.  With Sun-Jupiter, we are better able to see the “big picture” view of things, although we still do need to be attentive to the details.

Jupiter is also in “money and possession sign” Taurus and it is interesting that yesterday, as this influence was applying, the S & P’s 500-stock index closed at its highest level since 2008, on the heels of better-than-expected reports on home sales and consumer sentiment (wsj.com). Jupiter, which is linked with abundance, is often billed as the “cosmic Santa.” Jupiter is also applying to a positive trine to Pluto, which will be exact in a couple weeks. Pluto is associated with mega-wealth.

Famous Persons with Sun Sextile Jupiter: Madonna, Elvis Presley, Albert Camus, Prince Andrew of England.

February 25 Birthdays: Rudolph Steiner, Jim Backus

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon’s foray into practical, earthy Taurus (9:36 am EST) makes today an excellent day to attend to money and possession matters. The Moon is considered to be exalted when it is in Taurus, a sign that is ruled by sweet Venus. Too, the Moon is making its monthly conjunction with fortuitous Jupiter (11:38 am EST) helping to put us in a more positive, generous frame of mind. Moon-Jupiter is often a very expansive influence that can align us with fresh opportunities.

Later, the Moon’s trine to transforming Pluto (10:39 pm EST) serves to heighten our emotions and passions. This is also a very good time to de-clutter, if we are so inclined. Too, when we rid ourselves of what is outworn or no longer needed, this allows for new pleasures and experiences to come into our lives.
