“If you can show people how to build castles, make sure you do not neglect building and nurturing your own.” – Suzy Kassem

Good afternoon!

Getting a late start here today! Spent nearly all morning trying to get my (Aries) miniature poodle to swallow his pill medication, to no avail. In his natal horoscope, he has his assertive Mars closely conjunct Saturn in oddball, stubborn Aquarius. Needless to say, he will not budge one iota when he’s deliberately made up his mind to be difficult/uncooperative. Ugh! 🙂

***

Waxing Luna spends most of today in comfort seeking Cancer.

She sextiles eclectic Uranus in Taurus mid-afternoon (2:55 pm) when we might be inspired/tempted to perk up our living space in unique/offbeat ways. This pleasant aspect may also help deliver sudden insights about what best nurtures or feeds us emotionally as well as possibly showering us with some novel ideas about how to add to our material security.

Later, Luna trines structuring Saturn in Pisces (4:52 pm). This potentially could be a stabilizing influence in which we may be more inclined to approach our affairs or goals in a more organized/responsible/mature manner. May also be favorable for setting up/erecting healthy emotional boundaries with others.

The Cancer Moon then enters confident Leo the Lion this evening (7:09 pm) and almost immediately throws a harmonious trine to visionary Neptune in Aries (7:23 pm). This may find us wanting to take action on our spiritual ideals or what we may perceive to be our soul’s special purpose. This is also the first time that the Leo Moon has aspected Neptune in Aries in nearly 160 years, so they will also, undoubtedly, have a lot to catch up on!

Additionally, Moon-Neptune favors artistic or creative expression and with Luna now deposited in theatrical Leo, there’s potentially more of a flair for the dramatic. Of course, too, we have the Leo Full Moon tomorrow, so the energies are now nearing a crescendo point.

*All times EST

On This Day in History: The first daytime network TV soap opera – These Are My Children – debuts on January 31, 1949, and is broadcast live on Chicago’s NBC station. It’s the first in what will become an institution of daytime drama serials, many of which will be sponsored by soap manufacturers!

Astrologically, that day, dreamy, escapist Neptune in relationship-minded Libra was exactly trine to intellectual Mercury in trendsetting Aquarius, the sign that rules broadcasting. Too, Mercury-Neptune is typically perceived as an aspect that whets our appetite for immersion into such things as fairy tales/storytelling.

Also, love Goddess Venus and abundant Jupiter were conjunct in corporate Capricorn. Venus-Jupiter conjunctions are normally viewed as very favorable for financial prosperity, romance, and creative/artistic expression.

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Cosmic Weather:

“Do not let the memories of your past limit the potential of your future. There are no limits to what you can achieve on your journey through life, except in your mind.” – Roy T. Bennett

Good morning!

It appears the Universe is doling out loaves of sourdough bread – instead of mere crumbs today – with its benign, pleasant Mercury-Venus pairing (5:17 am) in egalitarian Aquarius. 🙂

Ideally, communicator Mercury’s conjunction with sweetheart Venus gives us a chance to collaborate/showcase our diplomatic side. However, since the water bearer’s overarching style is friendly, but detached, don’t expect to hear/utter anything too mushy or romantic at this time.

That said, it can be an excellent period to discuss/kick around new approaches/solutions to issues – especially if they are maybe a bit offbeat or out of the norm.

Too, we still have five planets in cutting-edge Aquarius, including the highly charged transformational Mars-Pluto conjunction, so our overall receptivity to trying/entertaining new concepts is potentially more pronounced.

On another level, today’s Mercury-Venus conjunction might be a boon for activities such as marketing, including launching social media or PR campaigns.

(Too, Democratic Senator Nancy Klobuchar (b. May 25, 1960) announced her candidacy for governor of Minnesota, earlier this morning. Ought to be interesting to see how her campaign goes as she will also have change-oriented Uranus conjunct her Sun for most of the second half of the year, an aspect which sometimes can feel a bit like a rollercoaster ride as the pace around us tends to quicken then.)

Is the world’s richest man – Elon Musk – a follower of astrology?

Reportedly, Musk told the Financial Times this week that he is considering targeting mid-June for his SpaceX IPO to coincide with the planetary alignment (conjunction) of Jupiter and Venus, typically an aspect associated with abundance and blessings (Jupiter), and having more of what we want or desire (Venus). Jupiter is also linked with long-distance travel, while Venus rules money.

Here’s an excerpt below from barrons.com on the story:

SpaceX is targeting a mid-June initial public offering that would coincide with a rare planetary alignment and founder Elon Musk’s birthday, the Financial Times reported on Wednesday, as the billionaire entrepreneur seeks to raise a record $50 billion.

The rocket company is planning its IPO for when Jupiter and Venus appear very close together in the sky — a conjunction that occurs for the first time in more than three years on June 8-9, the FT said, citing people familiar with the matter.

The timing, which the report said was subject to change, also aligns closely with June 28, Musk’s 54th birthday.

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Cosmic Weather:

“Normally, we do not so much look at things as overlook them.” – Alan Wilson Watts

This Thursday morning intellectual Mercury conjuncts exacting Saturn in “doubting Thomas” Aquarius (9:34 am) tending to inject more gravity, skepticism, or cautiousness into our thinking, words, or communications. Since our mental focus is perceived to be more narrowed or concentrated now, it can often be a good period to comb through the fine details of matters, particularly, perhaps, looking for the weaknesses or vulnerabilities in things. It is also possible now that we are wrapping up or finishing a final review of something as this conjunction is coming at the 29th (or anaretic) degree of Aquarius.

Today’s annual Mercury-Saturn conjunction is also occurring with love goddess Venus and big-hearted Jupiter affectionately paired up in the sky in adventurous Aries (12:36 am), suggesting that we are also poised and ready for adding something new or bold to our lives that ideally affords us more personal freedom and self-expression. It can also be a propitious time to expand our sphere of relationships as well as to immerse ourselves in social activities.

Later this afternoon, Mercury will also enter dreamy, idealistic Pisces (5:52 pm) for a 16-day stay.

*All times EST

On This Day in History: On March 2, 1965, one of the most popular films of all time, The Sound of Music, starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, premiers (Academy Awards Best Picture, 1966).

Astrologically, that day, there was a stellium of five planets (plus Chiron) in creative Pisces, the sign associated with filmmaking or visual imagery. Mental Mercury in Pisces was also applying to an exact trine to imaginative Neptune in potent Scorpio, the modern-day ruler of Pisces. Mars in craftsmanship Virgo was also sextile Neptune as well as trine to expansive Jupiter in the financial and artistic sign of Taurus. Mars-Jupiter aspects tend to generate or correlate with mega amounts of enthusiasm and passion for our endeavors, while the Mars-Neptune energy can help us to skillfully manifest our dreams or visions, so that they become very real to us.

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Cosmic Weather:

It’s sort of like we’re being treated to a heavenly (or dubious?) “double-header” today!

First, we have sweet Venus conjunct “Cosmic Santa” Jupiter in blue, sunshiny skies Sagittarius (8:33 am), typically an aspect associated with abundance and blessings, and having more of what we want or desire.

Then, in the second go-round, we have double-daring Mars in fearless Scorpio opposing “wild-child” Uranus in “own it till you drop” Taurus (11:50 am). Kinda like we suddenly choose to depart from a cozy path of riches or lavishness, with all the super cool celebratory partying, and stellar romance with attractive hunks – the whole nine yards – to goofily challenge ourselves to abruptly perform the equivalent of a frickin’ high-wire act without a safety net! All in part, because we “existentially” may have a burning need now to free ourselves from the assorted rat traps we’ve managed to mindlessly create for ourselves, over time. Really hard to know what the gods were thinking with this one! Anyway, hopefully, it will all have a happy ending and we’ll finally get our prince. 🙂

Cosmic Weather:

Often, it seems, it is not so much what is said, as the way that it is said that is most memorable and ends up packing the greatest punch. With the “winged-messenger” Mercury’s entrance into “kingly” Leo the Lion, later this evening (8:19 pm), the sign of the entertainer, our communication style now has a better chance of radiating our own personal flair, our sense of drama, our creativity, our warmth.

In Sun-ruled Leo, our words (Mercury) are given extra shine or luster (Leo rules gold). We are also capable of speaking/writing/articulating with more authority, more self-confidence (including more ego-involvement).

“The art of communication is the language of leadership.” – James Humes

(Mercury will be going retrograde in Leo on July 7th and re-entering the sign of Cancer, mid-July, before it returns for another round in Leo, in mid-August. When Mercury is retrograde, we often go inward to review, recheck, revise or revisit our previous decisions/plans.)

Meanwhile, the Moon also continues her passage through enterprising, self-focused Aries today prompting us to take initiative, to be courageous.

“Courage is the most important of all the virtues because without courage, you can’t practice any other virtue consistently.” Maya Angelou

Famous People with Mercury in Leo: Antonio Banderas, Michael Phelps, Anjelica Huston, Kellie Pickler, Dan Aykroyd, Barack Obama.

On This Day in History: On June 26, 2015, US Supreme Court rules 5-4 same-sex marriage is a legal right across all US states.

Astrologically, on that day, the Moon was in the matrimonial sign of Libra (which also rules the courts). The North Node (the future) was also in Libra and was being squared (squares force issues) by the empowering Sun in empathetic Cancer.

Assertive Mars had also just entered Cancer (the sign of home and family) and was applying to a conjunction to the Sun as well as a square to the Libra North Node.

Additionally, relationship maven, Venus, was also moving into exact conjunction (2 degrees) with inclusive-minded, philosophical Jupiter (the planet that also rules judges). Venus and Jupiter were both in magnanimous, warm-hearted Leo.

Enjoy your Wednesday!

“People who love themselves come across as very loving, generous and kind; they express their self-confidence through humility, forgiveness and inclusiveness.” Sanaya Roman

Violet, Sky, Star, Poetry

Today’s Energy:

The waxing Moon enters “athletic” and “pioneering” Aries (2:22 am) lending support to activities that keep our bodies in motion, as well as favoring projects in which we feel we are breaking new ground, or at least taking the initiative in some pivotal way. We are also seeking experiences, at this time, that will make us come to life emotionally.

The Moon’s late night square to “perceptive” Pluto (11:27 pm) is an opportunity for us to go deeper into our feelings, especially allowing us to see things in a new light; although, at the same time, we may want to avoid getting hung up on “what’s not working” then, an orientation which can be a subtle form of self-sabotage.

Relationship Venus, “the goddess of love,” conjuncts “generous” Jupiter in “service-minded” Virgo (4:03 pm). When these two planets pair up there’s always an eternal hope that we will be able to act in more loving ways toward each other, with Jupiter’s ray ideally expanding the unifying or connectivity properties of Venus. Venus-Jupiter can also be a time when we seek out more fun or pleasure.  A shadow side here is that we could become over-indulgent or overspend.

With this Venus-Jupiter conjunction occurring in “repair-oriented” Virgo, there’s robust potential for fixing what may be broken or amiss in our relationships, or in the environment around us. We also may be more inclined to “take the high road” in our interpersonal dealings, with Venus-Jupiter coinciding with more of a “generosity of spirit” and wanting to see the best in others.

Intellectual Mercury in Libra is also opposing “radical, progressive” Uranus in Aries (6:59 pm). This influence tends to “speed up our thinking,” as well as strengthen our intuition. It can be an excellent energy for brainstorming or finding new or unconventional solutions to old problems. Additionally, this aspect may foster stimulating group discussions, especially with respect to social issues.

All times EDT.

Questions for Today: How could you “take the high road” now? What could you overlook as a way of healing or improving your relationships?

Astrological Trivia: When Venus and Jupiter were conjunct in “romantic” Leo, on July 1, 2015, the Episcopal Church in the U.S. adopted its liturgy for “same-sex marriages.” (courtesy of Wikipedia.com). It should also be noted here that Jupiter does govern organized religion and philosophy.

Cosmic Quote of the Day: “If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself.” Henry Ford

Isn’t it interesting that when we each focus on becoming more of what we already are, success is something that becomes almost a non-issue for us?

Today’s Energy:

A Full Moon in “ambitious” Capricorn occurs at 10:20 pm tonight. Full Moons bring heightened awareness, thereby allowing us to cop new perspectives. The Full Moon in Capricorn specifically affords us a chance to focus on creating more of a work/life balance – never an easy task! This is an excellent time to revisit those goals that we eagerly set, at the start of the year, and evaluate how we are faring with them. Are we still wanting to tow the line, or do we maybe need to make a course correction? Or, possibly we have gotten sidetracked, the last few months, and need to get back on track now with the personal vision that we hold for ourselves. A Capricorn Full Moon also puts the spotlight on those traditional elements that accompany our public image such as reputation, leadership ability, organizational skills, and career success.

Lovable Venus also exactly conjuncts benefic Jupiter today (3:51 am), an influence that has been building in strength, for the last few days. This is regarded as one of the most fortuitous, pleasurable, and romantic influences of all as expansive Jupiter, the purveyor of opportunity, magnifies all the best qualities of the charming Venusian energy. This conjunction also helps to re-set the socially reforming, albeit seemingly magical, Jupiter Uranus trine, which is still within a one degree orb from being exact. We tend to see the best in others now and want to do what is in our power to make others happy. Our mood is very warm, friendly and gregarious, although we could get a little carried away with self-indulgent behavior, especially since this influence tends to favor or court lavish celebrations or overtures. Of course, we could also counteract or neutralize this tendency, if we wanted to, by intentionally engaging in random acts of kindness, in an effort to spread the wealth and gaiety around. This aspect remains in effect for a couple of days.

Moon opposite Mars, 1:32 pm. We are poised to meet or achieve our goals, but may need to possibly counteract a tendency toward hypersensitivity, even bullying. Avoiding those who know how to push our buttons, too, is probably a smart strategy now.

Sun trine Neptune, 9:59 pm. This is a highly creative and imaginative aspect that kindles our humanitarian instincts and compassion. We are more willing to take a back seat to others now as our ego needs subside, although we may still need to be vigilant or discerning as to the sincerity of other people’s intentions. In general, this is excellent energy for dissolving differences, implementing peacekeeping measures or truces, both on an individual and a collective level.  Also, quite fittingly here, President Obama is reportedly set to unveil, today, a deal between the U.S. and Cuba that would reopen embassies and restore diplomatic ties that were broken more than 50 years ago (from AOL.com).

Also, Sun trine Neptune is an ideal influence for immersion in spiritual studies, meditation, partaking in retreats, taking trips by the sea, or any type of visioning work. Those who are artistically gifted may also find this energy great for doing photography, painting, sculpting, or watercolor.  This alignment is also, of course, a very nice complement to the loving, very generous in nature, Venus-Jupiter aspect, as they both potentially carry a lot of healing energy within them.  This influence will remain in effect for two or three days.

Famous July 1 Birthdays: Princess Diana, Pamela Anderson, Dan Aykroyd, Deborah Harry, Olivia de Havilland

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon is in “chatty” Gemini all day.

Love Goddess Venus also conjuncts generous Jupiter in royal Leo (1:21 am). Ideally, this influence will open up all of our heart chakras, and poise us to want to spread plenty of joy and good cheer around. It is widely regarded as an aspect of abundance and well-being. It can also be very romantic.

Tonight, communicator Mercury opposes fantasy Neptune (11:42 pm), the planet of imagination and deception. Separating fact from fiction could get a little more complicated. Misunderstandings and confusion can also abound. It is a good aspect, though, for creativity.

COSMIC WATCH:

The “optimistic” Sagittarius Moon may find us wishing upon a star. It could be, too, that many of our wishes do come true now with a Grand Earth Trine, today through Thursday. Abundant Jupiter, romantic Venus, courageous Mars and reforming Pluto may serve as an auspicious springboard to help us manifest our financial and pleasurable intentions for ourselves.

This rare grand trine is potentially very transforming energy that can help to dramatically reshape our world in all sorts of wondrous ways. Also, hopefully allowing us to simultaneously spread our sphere of influence in a positive manner.

This is also an ideal period for achieving a deeper awareness of the mysteries of life, as well boding well for our being able to solve long-standing riddles, or ferret out what has previously been hidden from view, perhaps even tucked away in our own amazing depths. “He then learns that in going down into the secrets of his own mind he has descended into the secrets of all minds.” Ralph Waldo Emerson.

J.T.: “Yeah, it’s not far from the truth. But don’t worry.  I’m sure he’ll hire whoever writes those flyers for the strip club. It’ll be like the raunchiest vows ever, and I’m sure the minister will probably pass out.”

(From The Young And The Restless)

On December 23, 1973, when The Young and The Restless debuted, Venus, the mythological “Goddess of Love,” was exactly sextile “Fantasy” Neptune, the planet which also rules the television camera. Venus was in friendly, freedom-loving Aquarius. Aquarius is also a sign known for broadcasting and technology. Neptune was in wanderlust Sagittarius, a sign that is additionally very good at spinning imaginative tales and story lines. (The emotional Moon was also in “alibi” Sag that day.) The sextile is normally regarded as a more harmonious aspect of “opportunity.”

Venus-Neptune aspects tend to coincide with a mindset in which we are much more willing, and really wanting, to believe in “fairy tales” (escapist soap opera plots). We are also more inclined to want to search out an “ideal love.” No matter that the object of our desires may be “imaginary,” or otherwise “off limits” to us. Perhaps a hunky character on a soap opera?

Most of us have had imaginary lovers, at some point, in our lives. Wild fantasies about persons “unavailable” to us? George Clooney, of course, immediately comes to mind here. However, we existentially do know, in this particular case, that this “Clooney pipe dream,” may actually some day still come to pass. It could be that it just takes many more earthly incarnations to materialize.  But, it’s okay. We have the time. Rome wasn’t built overnight. Great things take time and careful planning. And, sometimes, a lot of fervent prayer. Along with daily visualization, meditation, and fasting. Occasionally we have to strike back-alley deals, too, with questionable saints, in order to get our needs met. (Would you believe, Neptune also rules saints and gurus, priestly-type figures? This is true.)

That is how Venus-Neptune tends to operate. It seldom ever “surrenders the dream.” Rarely quits on the “romantic illusion.” It will go to unbelievable measures to secure or retain its fantasy. Interesting to note here that Neptune also rules our “addictions.” Neptune, coincidentally, additionally depicts “real-life people” who are employed as actors, or other persons professionally engaged in careers that stoke our imagination, such as poets, dancers, and artists. So, we had more of a proclivity to “fall for” the “make-believe” characters in the show, with the program debuting when it did.

Neptune is also our magical “link to the divine” and whispers to us of having a “divine compassion” for all. Venus-Neptune can be highly compassionate. But, on the flip side, there is also the proclivity to “play martyr or victim.” Elements, too, that work very well in television-based soap operas.

Too, love maven Venus was in a tight harmonious trine to transforming, controlling Pluto in Libra when this show premiered. With Venus-Pluto, we usually fully experience all the highs and lows of romantic drama. The compulsiveness, the obsessions, the deepest of passions. Venus was also applying to a conjunction with expander Jupiter in Aquarius, considered to be one of the most romantic and fortuitous aspects of all, as Jupiter grows whatever it is paired with and aligned with romantic Venus, our love and affection knows no bounds. The Young and The Restless characters will also never run out of people to have “real or imagined” affairs with.

Lastly, Virile Mars, ruling sex and our physical desires, was also deposited in impetuous Aries ( the sign that it rules) at 29 degrees, the very last degree of the sign.  Making the young, “very restless.” And, ever more reason to watch them on TV.
