COSMIC WATCH:

The “warm” Leo Moon makes it easier for us to be magnanimous. Sweet Venus also sextiles idealistic Neptune. What we desire now in romance, and relationships, in general, may be more of a coming together on the “soul level,” with Neptune signifying “spiritualized love.” This is also a good day to give voice to the “thriving artist” within us, as Venus-Neptune is potentially highly creative energy. Neptune governs our imagination, and Venus rules our sense of beauty. The dramatic Leo Moon also provides us with solid footing to do things with extra flair.

Venus, ruling love and money, enters “earthy” Taurus, one of the two signs that she rules.  With Venus in Taurus, our fondness for creature comforts grows and our attitude towards love and finances becomes more grounded and determined.  Intellectual Mercury is also conjunct innovative Uranus which governs our genius and intuition. This energetic aspect may speed up our thought processes, potentially resulting in breakthrough insights for us. This is an excellent time for brainstorming, or for cultivating new approaches to things. We may also want to keep a notebook with us as we go about our day to jot down our brilliant thoughts and ideas as they suddenly dart across our mind. The Moon in “self-protective” Cancer the Crab may tempt us to retreat back inside our cozy little shells, if we sense that the vibes around us are not supportive. Cancer is a very intuitive sign. Lovable Venus also opposes chilly Saturn, so it may be that some of us may be feeling a bit more cut off from others today, especially if we choose to focus on what’s not working in our relationships instead of concentrating on what’s going right.

COSMIC WATCH:

Jupiter, the planet of optimism and opportunity, is in harmonious alignment with the Sun, our power source and sense of self. The Moon is also in “pioneering” Aries. We are encouraged to act with confidence today and to mingle socially with others, particularly with those who are perceived to be authority figures or our superiors (Sun), as we have a chance to really shine now in their presence, which could help us to get ahead. The energy of the day is also conducive for undertaking new personal beginnings, or making headway with our goals.  With Sun-Jupiter, we are better able to see the “big picture” view of things, although we still do need to be attentive to the details.

Jupiter is also in “money and possession sign” Taurus and it is interesting that yesterday, as this influence was applying, the S & P’s 500-stock index closed at its highest level since 2008, on the heels of better-than-expected reports on home sales and consumer sentiment (wsj.com). Jupiter, which is linked with abundance, is often billed as the “cosmic Santa.” Jupiter is also applying to a positive trine to Pluto, which will be exact in a couple weeks. Pluto is associated with mega-wealth.

COSMIC WATCH:

A New Moon in “compassionate” Pisces is taking place today (5:35 pm EST). We have a chance to align ourselves with the more “soulful” vibrations of this sign, as a way of renewal now. Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac, a space in which we put aside our ego and earthly ambitions to focus on nurturing our “inner world,” the domain of our feelings, dreams, imagination, creativity and intuition. In The Power of Intention, Wayner Dyer writes that our imagination is “God within us.”

Today’s New Moon is also conjunct “transcendent” Neptune in Pisces, something that has not happened in 165 years. Neptune is the modern day ruler of Pisces. It is also the planet that formally governs our imagination. Neptune is linked with prophecy, scripture, clerics, mystics, saints, angels, artists, poets, musicians, and healers. Neptune and Pisces also preside over those persons who could be described as “downtrodden,” or down on their luck. Also, they both govern disenfranchised elements, minority groups, civil rights’ matters, and individuals with addiction issues.

Interestingly, on the eve of the Sun’s conjunction with Neptune, last weekend, Pope Benedict announced seven new saints and also appointed 22 new Cardinals. Too, we had the high-profile funeral or “going home” ceremony for singer Whitney Houston, someone who also publicly struggled with substance abuse issues. On another level, Neptune rules oil, and headlines about rising gas prices have been dominating the news, the last few days.

We will want to note “the house” in our personal horoscopes that the New Moon is falling in, as that is the area of our life where we may be feeling more of a need for reflection now. It is also where we have a chance to be more creative, and where we can set powerful new intentions for ourselves. COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon spends one more day in “scholarly” Sagittarius and with intellectual Mercury forming a harmonious sextile aspect to “teacher” Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius, this is an excellent day to expand our knowledge of the world, including the realm of foreign cultures. We are also more inclined to want to write about or discuss with others what we have learned so far on our journey of life, particularly sharing our philosophy of life. Mercury-Jupiter is specifically linked with the publishing world, academia, philosophy and religion, the travel industry, matters of law, advertising and promotion, and is generally viewed by astrologers as more favorable for contracts and agreements due to the abundant and protective nature of Jupiter.

Too, if we have been harboring a more pessimistic view of things in a certain area of our lives, we may want to revisit that area today and see if we can approach it now with a more positive or optimistic mindset, as Mercury-Jupiter is an excellent aspect for allowing us to see possibilities where maybe before we were unable to envision them.  Also, today would be an ideal day to make a vision board regarding our future intentions for ourselves. “The future is simply infinite possibility waiting to happen. COSMIC WATCH:

The “philosophical” Sagittarius Moon prompts us to take a “big picture view” of things. The ruler of Sagittarius, expansive Jupiter, is also in a 135-degree alignment with energetic Mars. This Mars-Jupiter influence can give rise to unbridled enthusiasm which can result in our going a little bit overboard, if we are not careful. We can, however, turn this energy into a win-win situation for ourselves by simply not over-committing our time or resources and practicing some restraint in what we say and do.

Venus, ruling relationships, is also square to intense Pluto, which governs the realm of our subconscious. With this Venus-Pluto aspect, buried or suppressed feelings tend to emerge, clamoring for our attention like a young child. While we may be very wise to acknowledge their presence and reflect upon why they are surfacing now, and what they have to teach us, we must also keep in mind that they are only temporary house guests passing through and not permanent residents we are stuck with, particularly if the emotions that are arising now are more of a shadow nature.

On the plus side, Venus-Pluto can be very insightful for fostering awareness concerning how we may need to change or restructure our relationships in order to allow for more personal growth within those alliances. We may also want to keep in mind today that all of our power comes from within and by trying to control other people only serves to ultimately dis-empower us in the end. Another shadow manifestation of Venus-Pluto can be a tendency to use manipulation with others to achieve our own ends instead of honoring and respecting other people’s boundaries and desires.
