Astrology March 17, 2011: “Mystical Revelations” Moon Opposite Neptune

COSMIC WEATHER:

This St. Patty’s Day the Moon is winding up its passage in “big hair” Leo, heading for the sweet, “vacuumed-paradise” of Virgo (4:53 pm EDT). Before it vacates theatrical Leo, however, it is meeting up with “transcendent” Neptune (3:59 pm EDT), which is at the very end of hi-tech Aquarius, propelling us into a more “visionary” or “mystical” state of mind. A good day to simply “go with the flow” and pay closer attention to our intuitive awareness versus relying purely on reason and logic.

Too, even though we do have the Moon switching to analytical Virgo later on, we also have Mercury, the ruler of Virgo, involved in a 45-degree aspect to psychedelic Neptune (9:32 pm EDT). So, there’s no escaping the clutches of our fanciful imagination today, which Neptune rules.

Do we maybe have any creative projects (poetry, writing, film, music, art, etc.) that we can work on today that will allow us to tap into Neptune’s inspired ray? We also may want to make time for meditation or prayer (Neptune). Neptune is also associated with “divine love” and “compassion.” A good day for “giving back” to others. Too, we may want to watch our intake of “green beer,” this St. Patty’s Day, as Neptune does rule alcohol consumption and escapism. If we are not careful, we could be tempted to “drown our sorrows.”

With the Moon in theatrical, performing Leo and harmonious to Mercury (thoughts and words), Jupiter (inspired vision) and Saturn (depth), we have the green light from the cosmos today to power up and display our creative imagination.

Too, we are better able to play out our personal roles on the world stage and make gallant contributions to the collective when we have drawn upon our own unique brand of internal wisdom and experience in crafting our scripts, and deliver our lines with a true authenticity that radiates from that sacred voice within.

Some possible musings for today: Do we know, understand, and embrace our special role in the world? Do we give serious thought to our daily lines and how we deliver them, and the impact our words may have on others? Do we usually try to inspire others with our daily performance? What could we do today to get a standing ovation? 🙂

Of course, with so much sadness and tragedy going on in the world today, it is potentially more challenging for many of us to feel hopeful.

However, we do have mental Mercury exactly aligned with optimistic, philosophical Jupiter (9:27 pm) now. Mercury conjunct Jupiter is often synonymous with “keeping hope alive” and imagining wondrous possibilities. With expansive Jupiter, we tend to focus on the bigger picture or attempt to connect all the dots, which can alter our perspective.

The Moon also shifts from sensitive Cancer to self-expressive Leo (3:34 pm), forming a powerful trine to electrifying change-agent Uranus in Aries (3:56 pm). Moon-Uranus could elevate our emotions and also our self-esteem. Too, perhaps it will bring about some sudden breakthroughs (Uranus).

The Moon continues in sentimental Cancer beckoning us to connect with our roots, especially our familial roots. The Moon’s chilly square to Saturn (1:15 pm EST), however, may make us feel somewhat like an island.

Too, even though we may feel “cut off” doesn’t mean we have to stay in that mindset. Especially since we also have “Love Goddess” Venus forming a magical trine to stabilizer Saturn (8:35 pm EST), a classic astrological template for building “rock solid” relationships. With Venus-Saturn we tend to get more serious-minded (Saturn) about love and romance (Venus). The idea of commitment is more appealing, perhaps because Saturn governs the “security urge.”

On another level, Venus-Saturn can also be descriptive of “May-December” romances (Saturn rules older individuals). Possibly, too, there may be more of an inclination to seek out ties with older persons at this time because these persons may be perceived as a “safe harbor” for us.

Also, assertive Mars in dreamy Pisces is quinqunx Saturn (8:54 am EST). There is a tendency to “start and stop” things, or get curtailed by hurdles, instead of just following through. The best way to override this influence is to simply keep our eyes fixed on manifesting our daily intentions or short or long-term goals, while also holding ourselves accountable (Saturn). Saturn can challenge us to be self-disciplined.

A potentially empowering time to dig deep within ourselves and “unclog” our thought pipes of mental garbage that is muddying up our perceptions. Now that change-agent Uranus has entered new beginnings Aries and the nurturing Moon is in curious Gemini, today is probably a good time to break with our normal routine to allow for new experiences.

The Gemini Moon is seen as all about learning and demands a good dose of mental stimulation. Visiting a library or a bookstore or taking in a movie with friends and then chatting about it afterwards, fits this Moon like a glove. Also favored are shorts trips and sightseeing. Or attending lectures and seminars.

Later, the Moon’s square to the contemplative Pisces Sun (6:46 pm) suggests that we may want to slow down our pace and go inward for reflection.

Also, we may need to tune out discordant people or negative elements from our environment. This strategy also helps to conserve our energies.

Sometimes with the Moon and Sun in stressful alignment, especially in the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) we tend to to scatter our resources or get to feeling overwhelmed. That is why it is important, when feeling this way, to try to reunite with our center.

The “grounded” Taurus Moon implores us to be practical today. However, mental Mercury’s conjunction with erratic, non-conforming Uranus in dreamy Pisces (11:06 am EST) may also have our heads spinning with “original” or more “off the wall” ideas (Uranus). Of course, the combination of these two forces could pose a bit of a dilemma for us, unless we find a satisfactory way to integrate both of these energies. Overall, probably a good day to profile or express our uniqueness, while simultaneously attempting to think outside of the proverbial box. Too, we don’t need to necessarily act on any new ideas or insights that we may get at this time.

Uranus, as the higher octave of Mercury, also rules our intuition. So with Mercury-Uranus, we are potentially better able to channel our intuitive awareness now, with answers and information seemingly coming to us “out of the blue.”

Communicator Mercury, governing our conscious thinking, also descends into fiery Aries today (12:47 pm EST) where it will stay until mid-May. In Aries, Mercury is decisive and fast to act on its ideas, often acting before thinking.  Mercury here can also be competitive, and usually has more of an affinity for debating, as well as for arguing.

Too, if we normally struggle to express ourselves through speech or words, we may find that Mercury’s placement here is a boon for our self-expression, endowing us with greater self-confidence and daring. Also, if we have been “stuck” in our patterns of thinking, it could be Mercury through Aries, can help us to see and or adopt new points of view. On the shadow side, we do need to avoid, however, being overly impatient and headstrong in our thoughts and attitudes now. Aries, as the first sign of the zodiac, tends to be more self-centered, with the keywords for Aries being, “I Am.”

Mercury joins expansive Jupiter in Aries and on Friday, change-agent Uranus will also move into Aries, where it will reside for the next 7 years. The Universe is magically aligning for us to take very exciting action (Aries) in our lives in the coming weeks and months ahead!

The “pioneering” Aries Moon journeys down mystical trails in its blissful meet-up (sextile) with “enlightened” Neptune in “discovery” Aquarius (11:05 am EST), suggesting an ideal time period for us to tap into our own inner prairie of “higher consciousness” and “creativity.”

Later, the Moon’s entrance into “physical, self-indulgent” Taurus (12:53 pm EST) may have some of us focused on nirvana-bound body wraps and massage, and glorious visions of dark chocolate.
