astrology july 25 2015, horoscope july 25 2015, innovation, love, Mars square Uranus, Moon in Scorpio, transformation, venus stations retrograde in virgo july 25 2015

“We loved with a love that was more than love.” Edgar Allen Poe

Venus, the planet of love, beauty, money, and values, is stationing retrograde today at 0 degrees of Virgo. This apparent backward-moving cycle will last until September 6 – a natural time for us turn inward and reflect upon our needs for love, as well as a period to possibly re-assess our overall financial picture, and what it is that we truly value in our lives, and also, consequently, what we hope to attract in the future.

Sometimes, with Venus retrograde, we also find ourselves dealing with past relationships – or people from the past may suddenly intersect our orbit again. American writer and historian, Washington Irving, once wisely remarked that love is something that is never really lost. “If not reciprocated, it will flow back and soften and purify the heart.” Most definitely, a very healing sentiment, and something that we may also want to keep close to our heart now, especially if we should encounter someone more difficult or problematic from our past, in the days ahead – someone who may have rebuffed or spurned our romantic overtures, for whatever reason. There’s also another quote, quite timely here, that says, “Rejection is protection.” Can’t recall who said that, but it’s also certainly another way of looking at “lost love” in a very positive manner that can help to make us feel better about some of our former liaisons that may have ended on a sour note. It can also be very uplifting for us to not view romances that have gone astray as merely “failures,” but rather to look upon them as possibly enlightening seminars instructing us on the truest or purest intentions of our heart; often we require contrasting or challenging experiences in order to figure things out, or to unveil what’s hidden within the complex depths of our being.

Motivating Mars is also square rebellious Uranus today – a galvanizing aspect that will continue to linger around for the next day or two. This configuration can increase our desire for personal freedom and excitement or adventure, but we may want to avoid making any big changes just for the sake of change, especially on the domestic or family front (Mars in Cancer); Mars-Uranus is associated, on the shadow side, with acting prematurely, or without regard for the long-term consequences – a strategy that usually tends to backfire on us. On the plus side, this planetary pairing can be very innovative, helping us to see old issues or problems in a new light. Uranus is also stationing retrograde tomorrow, perhaps adding more weight to this particular aspect now. The Moon is also in intense, transformative Scorpio, all day, a lunar placement that can serve to duly prime us for drama or intrigue. It could be that we’re hot on the trail of something big now, our sleuth juices overflowing! 🙂

“It is not death that a man should fear, but he should fear never beginning to live.” Marcus Aurelius

COSMIC WATCH:

We experience a big “cosmic shift” today as the Sun, Venus, and Moon cascade into “emotionally-deep” Scorpio, with a “Partial Solar Eclipse” also occurring at “0 degrees” of Scorpio (5:56 pm EDT). Solar Eclipses are generally regarded as “amped up” New Moons, heralding changes and new beginnings. Some astrologers also view eclipses as times when we’re more apt to receive “consciousness downloads.”

Scorpio, the eighth sign of the zodiac, is basically where we learn to make “serious eyeball contact” with our fears. Scorpio is associated with self-mastery and empowerment. It also rules such things as intimacy, shared resources, the values of others, death and rebirth, purging and recycling efforts, taxes, surgery, and insurance matters.

Today’s Eclipse has an “endearing” or “supportive” quality to it because Venus, the Goddess of Love and Beauty, is sitting right alongside, or is conjunct, the Scorpio Sun and Moon. Venus hopefully helps us to embrace the shadow side of ourselves, while also maybe inspiring us to get along better with each other. The Venus conjunction also does likely mean that love and relationship issues are going to be front and center now. Relationship transformations or renewals, are also very possible, in keeping with the regenerative nature of Scorpio.

Spiritual Neptune, the higher octave of Venus, and the ruler of our imagination, is also forming a harmonious trine to the Eclipse. This otherworldly influence not only helps to make us more compassionate, it can also assist us with envisioning the life ahead that we want for ourselves. Too, with Neptune governing our nocturnal dreams, we may want to pay closer attention to what our dreams are saying to us now, especially over these next few days.

Question for Today: What might you say to someone to encourage them to get past their fears?

Maliki steps down, Mars sextile Pluto, Mercury in Virgo, Paul McCartney at Candlestick Park, Rob Manfred new MLB commissioner, transformation

“I take pleasure in my transformations. I look quiet and consistent, but few know how many women there are in me.” Anais Nin

COSMIC WATCH:

We have all seen dramatic “before” and “after” makeover shots that we marvel over. Today, we have a somewhat comparable offering in the guise of galvanizing Mars sextile rebirthing Pluto. This planetary influence is often paired with what could be described as game-shifting scenarios.

Too, on the eve of this aspect, we have heard about several noteworthy, altering type events in the collective, including Iraq’s Prime Minister Maliki announcing that he was going to step down from his post. Also yesterday, Rob Manfred was chosen as the new Major League Baseball Commissioner, one of the most powerful positions in sports. On a more sentimental note, Sir Paul McCartney entertained patrons with a concert at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, likely the last major event to be held at the 50-year-old stadium, which has been earmarked for demolition (Pluto). The Beatles also performed their last concert together in the U.S. at Candlestick, back in 1966, so it was a bit of deja vu for Paul.

Pluto’s ray is often associated with events that affect the masses. It is also linked with power and control issues. Too, sometimes what has been hidden is finally exposed or brought to light. Additionally, I would like to interject here that, often while transformational situations are occurring, we will not really know their full impact, until much later. For instance, under this Mars-Pluto influence, we could possibly meet someone who will later turn out to play a pivotal role in our lives, even though, in the present moment, we have no clue about this.

Also, the Moon has been in “pioneering” Aries, the last couple days, a fire sign that normally adds more momentum to our affairs, as it fuels our desire to take action on what we want. Today, however, Luna shifts into steady, stabilizing Taurus, and we’re more focused on preserving our resources and energy (11:58 am EDT). Intellectual Mercury also leaves proud, creative Leo for practical, analytical Virgo (12:44 pm EDT). This sign change should help to boost our problem-solving skills. Mercury remains in Virgo until September 1st.

Some celebrities with Mars-Pluto aspects in their birthcharts: Steve Jobs, Billy Idol, Paul McCartney, Oprah Winfrey, Farrah Fawcett, Kirstie Alley.

Today’s Question: If you had a magic wand at your disposal to use today, what would be the very first thing that you would do with it?

“We dream to give ourselves hope. To stop dreaming – well, that’s like saying you can never change your fate.” Amy Tan

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon continues its passage through “futuristic“ Sagittarius, a hopeful lunar placement that encourages us to “reach for the stars.” Eleanor Roosevelt (born with a Sagittarius Ascendant) once said that, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

Too, it may be a perfect time to rummage through the cherished treasure chest of our dreams, and perhaps re-asses our life, in general now – and what we aspire for in 2014. Not only are we at the end of another calendar year; astrologically, we also have enterprising Mars squaring transforming Pluto today (8:22 pm EST), an aspect often described as “game-shifting” by astrologers. This more intense influence,  even though it can sometimes be disruptive in nature, is often regarded to be very good for fostering self-renewal efforts, as it tends to re-align us with our heart’s burning passions and desires. Mars-Pluto is also often a factor with our employing herculean efforts to achieve our goals. (Today’s Mars-Pluto aspect also, of course, activates the longer term Uranus-Pluto square.)

Mars-Pluto can also help shed light on what is broken or no longer working in our lives; what possibly might be able to be salvaged or repaired; and what likely should be pitched or tossed aside.  Usually, too, before we can successfully start anew, we have to be willing to let go of the past; let go of attachment.

On the shadow side, Mars square Pluto is linked with obsessive or extreme behavior, fanaticism. power struggles, aggressive outbursts, greed, and manipulation.

Too, on a more positive note, writer Ericka Huggins insightfully reminds us that love can be an expression of power (Pluto). “We can use it to transform our world.”

How would you describe the “power of love?”

“Why is it that when one man builds a wall, the next man immediately needs to know what’s on the other side?” George R. R. Martin

COSMIC WATCH:

Curiosity can be a great thing. It offers us a way to be energetically engaged with our surroundings. Curiosity also fuels discovery and growth. It literally means we are eager to investigate and learn more. Today’s placement of the Moon in inquisitive Gemini is a perfect chance for us to fully employ our curiosity and venture beyond our current limits of understanding or knowledge.

Too, what is extra special about this day, and also a natural complement to the inquiring Gemini Moon, is that we have utilitarian Saturn sextile insightful Pluto. This is an ongoing influence that will be repeated in 2013 on March 8 and September 21. This aspect provides us with a solid foundation (Saturn) for being able to cut right through to the core of things (Pluto). Or, to get at the very heart of the matter of whatever it is that we want to explore.

Saturn-Pluto is an excellent influence for any type of detective work, problem-solving, or research. Or, for simply taking stock of matters. For instance, now might be a very good time to conduct a personal review of 2012, evaluating the highs and lows of the year. Saturn-Pluto is very good for taking corrective measures of any kind, or for fixing what’s broken. Pluto also gives a certain finesse in dealing with those scenarios of a more extreme or crisis-type nature. Saturn-Pluto is an aspect of transformation, or shape-shifting. This influence can also make us very motivated about achieving our goals (Saturn) and spreading our sphere of influence (Pluto) in the world. It is also excellent for figuring out how to best manage our resources.

Interestingly, on a collective level, lawmakers on Capitol Hill are also suppose to resume their talks this week about how to avert a fiscal cliff, which is reportedly set to take place January 1, if nothing is done. Hopefully, this Saturn-Pluto sextile will be a beneficial backdrop for arriving at some solutions to this suspenseful dilemma. Pluto rules debt and taxes, and is in Capricorn, the sign of government. Saturn is also in Pluto-ruled Scorpio, the sign of shared resources. To add some more intrigue or complication, Saturn and Pluto are both in awkward alignment (quinqunx) to intemperate Jupiter, the planet which also happens to rule politicians. 🙂

How would you like to reshape your world in 2013?

“God uses broken things. It takes broken soil to produce a crop, broken clouds to give rain, broken grain to give bread, broken bread to give strength. It is the broken alabaster box that gives forth perfume. It is Peter, weeping bitterly, who returns to greater power than ever.” Vance Havner

COSMIC WATCH:

“Assertive” Mars is conjunct “transforming” Pluto today (3:17 pm EST). This is potentially a very powerful and renewing combination of energy that can significantly strengthen our focus and determination. It can also increase our insight and general awareness into ourselves, including perhaps helping us to understand some of the deeper reasons or hidden motivations behind our behavior. Metaphorically, this aspect can make us feel a little like our (psychological) shackles are finally being removed. Too, this is an ideal period for purge projects. Or, makeovers.

This is also an influence that can serve to connect us with what is seemingly our special destiny or purpose in life. We may feel more of a sense what it is that we came here to do now, along with an urgency to act on that mission.

On the shadow side, our egos may not take too kindly to any sort of perceived restraint or interference from others now. Unfortunately, Mars-Pluto is all too often associated with setting up a more combustible atmosphere in which power struggles tend to ensue. Of course, when we deliberately choose to seek out the common ground between us, we can usually find a way to work together. “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” Helen Keller

Famous Birthdays November 27: Jimi Hendrix, Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg. “I think one of my father’s great legacies is the people that he inspired and the generation that he inspired transformed America through civil rights, women’s rights, equal justice, and they have passed that on to their children and grandchildren.” Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg.

Astrology November 13, 2012: New Moon Solar Eclipse in Scorpio

“Though I think and speak of greater becoming, I, too, am an infinite work in progress.” T. F. Hodge

Today’s New Moon in “transformational” Scorpio, at 22 degrees (5:08 pm EST), is also a Total Solar Eclipse, a phenomenon which occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, and the Moon fully blocks out the face of the Sun. The impact of an eclipse can last for up to 3 to 6 months. However, eclipses often seem to be most keenly felt about a week before, and then for a few days afterwards.

While Eclipses are highly charged events that tend to “speed things up,” this does not mean that they should necessarily be construed as either good or bad in themselves, although, in ancient times, eclipses were often viewed in a more negative or dubious manner. This perception, however, was probably due simply to a lack of astronomical knowledge.

Every New Moon is a chance for us to experience new beginnings. It is a time when we set our intentions for the new month. Today’s New Moon Eclipse in Scorpio highlights the themes of this sign: shared resources, sex, intimacy, money, power, renewal, elimination, mysteries, metaphysics, things of a hidden nature.  We will want to be setting our intentions around some of those themes now.

Scorpio is also a water sign, which governs our emotions. In complex Scorpio, we tend to feel things very deeply. It is also a sign that often finds us grappling with extreme scenarios / or opposing archetypes. On a metaphoric level, Scorpio is known for shining a bright light into our dark caves, giving us a chance to integrate the submerged or unconscious forces, with our conscious awareness.

Scorpio is additionally the sign of passion and our deepest desires. It is often only when we are living out our passions, doing what we truly enjoy, that we feel most alive and revitalized (transformed), when we genuinely sense or feel in sync with our life’s purpose. In many cases, too, the pathway that leads us to a more passionate, fulfilling lifestyle is only discovered after we have traversed through the “valley of (Scorpio) elimination,” removing from our lives whatever is blocking or hindering our authentic self-expression.

Too, often what needs to go on the chopping block first, before we can really come alive and grow in awareness of our self purpose, are other people’s expectations for us. Included here, would be the societal norms or dictates for our behavior, which can often significantly thwart our creativity and diminish our self-esteem.

Today’s New Moon Eclipse is not receiving any major planetary aspects to it. Perhaps this means that it is free to do its own “transformational thing” in our lives, without any interference.

Intellectual Mercury is also retrograde in unbridled Sagittarius, forming another exact square to foggy Neptune in Pisces (7:02 pm EST), the same aspect that we had during the last Full Moon in Taurus and the arrival of hurricane Sandy (Neptune). With Mercury-Neptune aligned, there is always the chance for some mental confusion, or missing information.

On a collective level, a top story in the news (Mercury) now is former CIA Director, David Petraeus, and his alleged extra-marital affair (Scorpio) with his female biographer, a scandalous (Neptune) matter that abruptly caused him to resign from his post as head of the CIA, an intelligence-gathering organization with an inherently secretive (Scorpionic) mission.

This whole story also, of course, unfolding in the days leading up to today’s potent Scorpio New Moon Eclipse, giving many of us a chance, perhaps, to also reflect upon the complicated nature of our own intimate desires (Scorpio), and how they can sometimes radically impact or shape our behavior – and not always in very flattering ways. Also, with the Eclipse today, the Petraeus sex scandal reportedly has widened to include more individuals, even the current U.S. NATO Commander in Afghanistan. Some are also reportedly already jokingly referring to the matter “as the curse of the commander’s job.” (Fox News).

“Someone told me the delightful story of the crusader who put a chastity belt on his wife and gave the key to his best friend for safekeeping, in case of his death. He had ridden only a few miles away when his friend, riding hard, caught up with him, saying ‘You gave me the wrong key!” Anais Nin.

New Moon in Scorpio activities: Purging, shedding whatever is outworn; surgical interventions, or removing whatever is decayed or malignant; emotional detoxification; psychotherapy; hypnotherapy; sex therapy; past-life regression; séances; mining; searching for buried treasure; archeological digs; past-life regression; séances; handling estate matters, or affairs of the dead; dealing with taxes, credit, or debt issues; studying psychology, metaphysics, astral travel.

Happy Eclipse blessings to you!

COSMIC WATCH:

Makeovers can be exciting and invigorating. They can also be an ideal way to sustain our existences, over time, as they inevitably help us to step outside of our comfort zones and experience or witness old elements in a brand new light. Including often allowing us to view ourselves with renewed fascination and interest. And, as our perceptions are stretched or altered, we unwittingly end up sowing the seeds of our own growth or evolution. “Man’s mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions.” Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr.

With transformational Pluto, the official “makeover guru,” stationing direct in Capricorn today (1:07 am EDT), after a five-month retrograde (review) phase, we seem to have symbolic cosmic approval to outwardly re-define or re-invent ourselves in healthy new ways now, so as to allow for the fullest expression of our authentic self. Pluto also archetypically representing what is essentially our raw essence, or what is often submerged or buried within us at the core levels of our being.

As is typically the case with purging Pluto’s activated ray, we may also have more of a passion now to divest ourselves of any elements that are outworn, dishonest, or redundant, in hopes that we will be better able to stand and flourish surrounded simply by our own truth, instead of being led by dictates formulated by others. “The whole point of being alive is to evolve into the complete person you were meant to be.” Oprah Winfrey

We also have the Moon entering Pluto-ruled Scorpio today (10:46 am EDT), where it will be joining galvanizing Mars on Wednesday. The very same day that radical Uranus is making yet another exact square aspect to game-shifting Pluto. “The dogmas of the quiet past, are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise—with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew and act anew. We must disenthrall ourselves, and then we shall save our country.” Abraham Lincoln.

Famous September 18 Birthdays: Frankie Avalon, Lance Armstrong, Greta Garbo. “Life would be so wonderful if we only knew what to do with it.” Greta Garbo 🙂

What does living authentically mean to you?

How important is it to you that you do your own thing?

What part of your life might benefit from a makeover?

If you had to choose between the two, would you rather be self-actualized or rich?

COSMIC WATCH:

“To know when to go away and when to come closer is the key to any lasting relationship.” Domenico Cieri Estrada

Sometimes we need to pull back from others. Maybe to reset a boundary that has gotten blurred. Or to simply reconnect with our center to examine how our relationships are reflecting what is in our heart. Today’s Venus square Saturn aspect can help to provide us with the distance that we may temporarily need so that we can once again discern or identify our true desires. Or it could be that this influence helps to provide a sacred space for us to seriously ponder our commitments.  Often, too, when we have the courage to let go of whatever it is that we desire, we find that what we really need has a way of effortlessly flowing into our lives.

Energetic Mars is also sextile to perceptive Pluto. This potent influence can additionally help to re-align us with our own light so that we are better able to stand upright in our own truth. This can also be a very transformational aspect that can positively reconfigure or reshape elements in our environment. Doors that were closed to us before, may suddenly open now. “I feel very adventurous. There are so many doors to be opened, and I’m not afraid to look behind them.” Elizabeth Taylor

Famous September 3 Birthdays: Valerie Perrine, Charlie Sheen. “I am on a drug. It’s called Charlie Sheen.” Charlie Sheen

What doors would you like to see open up for you?
