Cosmic Weather:

With impulsive Mars squaring rebellious Uranus, the planet of change (at 2:50 pm), it could very well seem like a bit of a roller-coaster ride for us today as the pace of our lives could suddenly quicken or be disrupted in some manner by this more high-voltage aspect. We also might be adding to the frenetic pace, ourselves, in the sense that we may suddenly be feeling more of a need now for freedom or liberation from the various perceived “confining elements” in our lives, during this highly uncharted period of time on our planet.

Fortunately, though, how we choose to respond to things is always in our control and, to that end, we are also, seemingly and thankfully, getting some timely assistance from the Universe now via intellectual Mercury’s sextile alignments with transformative Pluto (at 5:28 pm) and optimistic Jupiter (10:20 pm), aspects which can allow us to tap into, more effortlessly, the deeper meaning of things so that, ideally, we feel less daunted by any possible uncertainties or changes swirling around us, at present, in the outer realm.

Mercury-Pluto, in particular, can provide us with some very profound insights or wisdom bubbling up to us from our subconscious. We may also be more impacted by the power of word or speech now to turn our world around, including this possibly also being a time when we may feel more inclined or comfortable having very honest conversations on more intimate subjects.

Too, leave it to the “higher powers-that-be” to jampack way too much cosmic stuff into the confines of a single day for all of us to have to humbly deal with or sort out! 🙂 Not only do we have all of the aforementioned above going on, but we also have the biggest and brightest Full Moon of the year taking place tonight (at 10:35 pm). This so-called “Pink Moon” puts the self-assertive, independent Aries Sun opposite the more cooperative, relationship-focused Libra Moon, allowing us a chance to balance or integrate these two opposing forces/needs in some kind of satisfactory manner so, in a perfect world, we end up feeling more fully centered or at peace with ourselves. Full Moons also bring things (including our emotions) to a peak or culmination and can be special times of great inner clarity or awareness, although we may want to wait a few days before acting upon any of these newly-birthed realizations.

“I wanted a perfect ending. Now I’ve learned, the hard way, that some poems don’t rhyme, and some stories don’t have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what’s going to happen next.” Gilda Radner

*All times EDT.

Born On This Day: English poet William Wordsworth, in 1770. He became England’s poet laureate in 1843, a position he held until his death in 1850.

“Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower;
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind;
In the primal sympathy
Which having been must ever be…” W.W.

Full Moon blessings to you! Hope it’s a good one! Be safe.

Cosmic Weather:

The ever twinkling stars, today, suggest an ambitious/burgeoning tendency to want to “usher in the new” and “clear out the old” in very bold or flashy ways (Mars in Leo), especially incorporating whatever is perceived to be “cutting-edge” or “revolutionary” in nature (Uranus in Taurus); Mars-Uranus energy is historically associated with originality and inventiveness, including defying or disavowing the status quo.

However, on a cautionary note, before we fully commit to jumping aboard this beckoning, enticing starship now, we may want to first identify what it is that is already working out favorably for us – perhaps, for instance, identifying the foundational elements/values in our life that are worth preserving or holding on to – so we don’t have to come back later, and try to pencil them back in, thereby costing ourselves, dearly, in terms of our time and or energetic currency. Too, it is not always possible to reinstate elements of the past once the door has been shut.

We also likely come out a winner today by dialing back on those things that are deemed/considered to be cognitive distractions for us, that overload or tax our brains, and thereby cause us to become more careless or reckless in our dealings or interactions with our immediate environment. (Mars-Uranus energy already carries enough of a jolt on its own. We likely don’t need any extra stimulation now!)

The Waxing Moon is also still in its First Quarter and in the investigative sign of Scorpio, priming us to want to “get to the heart” of issues. Luna’s trine to the nurturing Cancer Sun, this afternoon (3:32 pm), is also potentially very positive for healing, especially for remedying relationships with family members.

“The way you help heal the world is you start with your own family.” Mother Teresa

Hope you enjoy your Thursday!

Astrology for July 25, 2015: Venus Retrogrades, Mars Square Uranus

“We loved with a love that was more than love.” Edgar Allen Poe

Venus, the planet of love, beauty, money, and values, is stationing retrograde today at 0 degrees of Virgo. This apparent backward-moving cycle will last until September 6 – a natural time for us turn inward and reflect upon our needs for love, as well as a period to possibly re-assess our overall financial picture, and what it is that we truly value in our lives, and also, consequently, what we hope to attract in the future.

Sometimes, with Venus retrograde, we also find ourselves dealing with past relationships – or people from the past may suddenly intersect our orbit again. American writer and historian, Washington Irving, once wisely remarked that love is something that is never really lost. “If not reciprocated, it will flow back and soften and purify the heart.” Most definitely, a very healing sentiment, and something that we may also want to keep close to our heart now, especially if we should encounter someone more difficult or problematic from our past, in the days ahead – someone who may have rebuffed or spurned our romantic overtures, for whatever reason. There’s also another quote, quite timely here, that says, “Rejection is protection.” Can’t recall who said that, but it’s also certainly another way of looking at “lost love” in a very positive manner that can help to make us feel better about some of our former liaisons that may have ended on a sour note. It can also be very uplifting for us to not view romances that have gone astray as merely “failures,” but rather to look upon them as possibly enlightening seminars instructing us on the truest or purest intentions of our heart; often we require contrasting or challenging experiences in order to figure things out, or to unveil what’s hidden within the complex depths of our being.

Motivating Mars is also square rebellious Uranus today – a galvanizing aspect that will continue to linger around for the next day or two. This configuration can increase our desire for personal freedom and excitement or adventure, but we may want to avoid making any big changes just for the sake of change, especially on the domestic or family front (Mars in Cancer); Mars-Uranus is associated, on the shadow side, with acting prematurely, or without regard for the long-term consequences – a strategy that usually tends to backfire on us. On the plus side, this planetary pairing can be very innovative, helping us to see old issues or problems in a new light. Uranus is also stationing retrograde tomorrow, perhaps adding more weight to this particular aspect now. The Moon is also in intense, transformative Scorpio, all day, a lunar placement that can serve to duly prime us for drama or intrigue. It could be that we’re hot on the trail of something big now, our sleuth juices overflowing! 🙂

Astrology July 31, 2013: Mars Squares Uranus, Moon in Gemini

astrology july 31 2013, change, diversity, Geraldine Chaplin, horoscope july 31 2013, J.K. Rowling, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Mars square Uranus, Milton Friedman, Moon in Gemini

“In this world one is seldom reduced to make a selection between two alternatives. There are as many varieties of conduct and opinion as there are turns of feature between an aquiline nose and a flat one.” Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

COSMIC WATCH:

Variety is said to be the “spice of life.” Today may be an especially good day to seek it out, with the Moon’s ingress into curious Gemini (11:42 am EDT) and also trailblazer Mars square to non-conforming Uranus, the planet of change and innovation. Too, while Mars-Uranus has been known to coincide with sweeping reforms (and revolts), it’s not always necessary to make wholesale changes with this influence to inject new life and variety into our lives; sometimes by tweaking things just a little, we can begin to shift the energy around us in a positive way – like casting a pebble into the water and witnessing the corresponding ripple affect. “And that is how change happens. One gesture. One person. One moment at a time.” Libba Bray

This might also be a good day to reflect upon, and to ask ourselves, “How open are we to issues of diversity (Uranus)?” “Christian, Jew, Muslim, shaman, Zoroastrian, stone, ground, mountain, river, each has a secret way of being with the mystery, unique and not to be judged.” Rumi

It should also be noted that on the heels of the Mars-Uranus influence, Israeli and Palestinian officials agreed to resume negotiations, something that hasn’t occurred for a long while (we also still have the healing grand water trine taking place between Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune). Whether or not these negotiations will be successful, remains to be seen, but at least an attempt is being made to make some progress here. Mars is also in Cancer (as is Jupiter), which not only governs the home and family, but also issues of patriotism, or allegiance to one’s country, and matters of territorialism. Uranus is also in new beginnings Aries, which can foster pioneering approaches or strategies. The square aspect, itself, is often a catalyst for taking action on matters.

Too, today the sentencing phase begins for Bradley Manning. Many have characterized him as a traitor to his country (Cancer) for giving classified U.S. military (Aries) information to Wikileaks. Yesterday, he was found guilty of espionage and theft charges, but acquitted of aiding the enemy. Symbolically, Mars-Uranus can signify “having to deal with rogue behavior.” Manning faces 136 years in prison on the charges.

COSMIC WATCH:

Nearly all the best things that came to me in life have been unexpected, unplanned by me.” Carl Sandburg

With “assertive” Mars square “rebellious” Uranus today, the planet of change and the unexpected, there can be a tendency to force things to happen now, maybe due to our own impatience or frustration with the status quo. Sometimes, though, when we push too hard, things often have a way of backfiring on us.

Instead, what we may want to do is simply try detaching, and observing what is “trying to happen” on its own around us. This may include noting any synchronistic type events. Or paying attention to the people entering / exiting our life now.

Mars-Uranus, at its noblest expression, can often introduce “catalyzing elements” into our lives, seemingly out of the blue, that can help us to get unstuck, with Uranus symbolizing innovation, as well as intuition. This is also a great day for brainstorming, in general, or for finding new ways to approach old problems.

Also, we will want to make sure that we pencil in time for some “physical activities” today, as the Moon is in testosterone-filled Aries. Too, a good way to work off some of that Thanksgiving turkey. “To keep the body in good health is a duty… otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.” Buddha

Famous November 23 Birthdays: Amy Rodden, Bruce Hornsby. “I feel like what I owe my audience is what I am most passionate about.” Bruce Hornsby

What are some of the best things in your life that seemed to happen to you “out of the blue?”

Enjoy Black Friday!

Cosmic Word Of The Day: Firecracker

(Mars square Uranus)

Firecracker: 1) a small cardboard container filled with explosive powder and lit by a fuse 2) impressively energetic

“We have a firecracker of an aspect today: Aggressive Mars is square to unpredictable, erratic Uranus. Generally, our ‘fuses’ tend to be shorter with this influence. Also, unexpected events could throw us off course.  Too, due to the rebellious nature of Uranus, we are more prone to defy authority figures or lash out against restrictive situations.

On the plus side, however, if we are able to ‘rein in’ our aggressive impulses, and not ‘blow our stacks,’ we may be privy to a cool new perspective on things. Uranus, denoting our urge for originality, often confers upon us ‘ingenious’ or ‘clever’ insights via our intuition. Additionally, the Moon in Scorpio today provides us with a greater affinity for probing deeply and solving mysteries.”
