“We loved with a love that was more than love.” Edgar Allen Poe
Venus, the planet of love, beauty, money, and values, is stationing retrograde today at 0 degrees of Virgo. This apparent backward-moving cycle will last until September 6 – a natural time for us turn inward and reflect upon our needs for love, as well as a period to possibly re-assess our overall financial picture, and what it is that we truly value in our lives, and also, consequently, what we hope to attract in the future.
Sometimes, with Venus retrograde, we also find ourselves dealing with past relationships – or people from the past may suddenly intersect our orbit again. American writer and historian, Washington Irving, once wisely remarked that love is something that is never really lost. “If not reciprocated, it will flow back and soften and purify the heart.” Most definitely, a very healing sentiment, and something that we may also want to keep close to our heart now, especially if we should encounter someone more difficult or problematic from our past, in the days ahead – someone who may have rebuffed or spurned our romantic overtures, for whatever reason. There’s also another quote, quite timely here, that says, “Rejection is protection.” Can’t recall who said that, but it’s also certainly another way of looking at “lost love” in a very positive manner that can help to make us feel better about some of our former liaisons that may have ended on a sour note. It can also be very uplifting for us to not view romances that have gone astray as merely “failures,” but rather to look upon them as possibly enlightening seminars instructing us on the truest or purest intentions of our heart; often we require contrasting or challenging experiences in order to figure things out, or to unveil what’s hidden within the complex depths of our being.
Motivating Mars is also square rebellious Uranus today – a galvanizing aspect that will continue to linger around for the next day or two. This configuration can increase our desire for personal freedom and excitement or adventure, but we may want to avoid making any big changes just for the sake of change, especially on the domestic or family front (Mars in Cancer); Mars-Uranus is associated, on the shadow side, with acting prematurely, or without regard for the long-term consequences – a strategy that usually tends to backfire on us. On the plus side, this planetary pairing can be very innovative, helping us to see old issues or problems in a new light. Uranus is also stationing retrograde tomorrow, perhaps adding more weight to this particular aspect now. The Moon is also in intense, transformative Scorpio, all day, a lunar placement that can serve to duly prime us for drama or intrigue. It could be that we’re hot on the trail of something big now, our sleuth juices overflowing! 🙂
