“You know you’re getting old, when Santa starts looking younger.” Robert Paul
Ho, ho, ho! The optimistic Sun in goodwill Sagittarius is energetically square jolly Jupiter in fantasy Pisces today (Dec. 16th at 4:47 pm EST). Too, due to Jupiter’s intrinsically generous, warm-hearted nature, Jupiter symbolizes “the Santa spirit” in astrology.
Sun square Jupiter is often a time when we are characteristically wanting to be a little more giving and generous to others with our time, talent, and bundle of resources. Not a bad thing at all!
The only pitfall here: We must be careful not to over-promise, or over-commit ourselves. We need to avoid excesses altogether. No easy task, as we are feeling much more revved up about our abilities and capabilities now. We also have our inspired eyes on the “bigger picture.” Our hope and faith are merrily a twinkle.
Also, we are wanting so much to wholeheartedly believe in the good in other people now, and in fairy-tale endings. Finally meeting the prince after kissing way too many frogs. “Santa Claus Oprah” putting a trip to Australia in our holiday stocking, too, along with keys to a new car.

WikiLeaks Founder, Julian Assange, has been granted bail today by a British Judge. Assange was arrested a week ago in London after two women accused him of sexual misconduct in two separate incidents in Sweden last summer.
Notable here from an astrological angle: Assange received bail this morning with the Moon at 4 degrees of action-packed Aries (Aries rules law enforcement and police matters). The Moon was also in an exact square to “news breaker” Mercury and “transforming” Pluto, both stationed at 4 degrees of Capricorn, and both part of the ongoing high-drama, “triple conjunction” in Capricorn, also involving “warrior” Mars. The “square” aspect today served to force the matter of his bail, as squares force issues.
“Moon-Pluto” aspects tend to coincide with more emotionally-intense events, and often these events can impact the collective because Pluto rules the masses. Also, Pluto symbolically represents the elimination or purge process, it often brings a “release” or an “alteration” to matters. Pluto, though, can be very controlling and dictatorial, and today’s bail for Assange has several conditions attached to it.
Pluto also represents spying, secret information, and covert activities (WikiLeaks), and is additionally implicated in sex acts using force. The Moon-Pluto exact square aspect had the affect of bringing these issues temporarily to the forefront. It should also be noted here that Assange vehemently denies the sexual misconduct allegations of the two Swedish women.
Assange voluntarily turned himself in to British authorities last week when the Moon was in Capricorn at 5 degrees and tightly conjunct Mercury, Mars, and Pluto (the triple conjunction). Assange will face another court hearing on January 11.

“Nothing is less important than which fork you use. Etiquette is the science of living. It embraces everything. It is ethics. It is honor.“Emily Post
Definition of etiquette: 1) a prescribed or accepted code of usage in matters of ceremony, as at a court or in official or other formal observances 2) conventional requirements as to social behavior
Displaying proper etiquette can help us to move gracefully through social situations, and consequently help put others at ease. Employing etiquette demonstrates a caring for others, and a respect for ourselves.
With that said, below are some “holiday etiquette tips” for the twelve signs of the zodiac, served up in a more humorous fashion.
Aries: Remember to pay close attention to any “RSVP” invitations that you receive. In your characteristic haste, you can easily forget to respond, leaving the host or hostess dangling in the air, as to whether or not you will be attending an event. Also, given your “spur of the moment,” impulsive side, do try to refrain from “crashing” any parties (going somewhere uninvited).
Taurus: Do not serve yourself first at the dinner table, whenever you are hosting a party. Too, although you may be tempted, please do not reach for food on other people’s plates. We know you are self-indulgent, with a characteristically hearty appetite, but you’ll be better off here with a little bit of discipline. Your guests will also appreciate your thoughtfulness.
Gemini: Please remember to turn off your cell phone at any social or holiday functions. With your incessant penchant for chatting, this may be difficult. Also, no talking with your mouth full.
Cancer: Unless you are partying or socializing with relatives, please do not inquire with the hostess about the matter of leftovers. Or do not bring along doggie bags from home for the purpose of stealthily pilfering appetizers or h’orderves. Since your thoughts are mostly food-based, and you automatically squirrel away copious amounts of food for the future, for fear of possible famine, these restraints could pose some personal challenges.
Leo: It’s true that you can be highly entertaining, and we all know that you enjoy basking in the spotlight, but if you see that most of the guests have already left an event, and the hostess is glaring at you and yawning, please take the cue and kindly go.
Virgo: If you go to a party and the napkins don’t match the table cloth, or if you see someone has spilled their drink, or maybe dropped a lettuce leaf on the table, please try to kindly take it all in stride and refrain from making any critical or personally defamatory remarks about these matters. Even though we know that you’re dying inside to say something scolding.
Libra: Don’t show up at a holiday function with a guest, unless that person has also been invited. Bringing along uninvited guests to an event can be a real temptation for you, as you are such a social butterfly and constantly meeting new people and sleeping around. Also, don’t apply lipstick or other makeup at the dinner table, which you tend to do after you eat. This may apply to some of the Libra guys as well. 🙂
Scorpio: Avoid asking for detailed explanations, whenever guests arrive late to your holiday events: Who, what, when, where, and why. We know you are intrinsically suspicious and revel in giving others the third degree, but remember, it’s the holiday season. Just try to relax and enjoy. You really can do this!
Sagittarius: Steer clear of discussing hot-button topics, such as religion or politics, at holiday functions, and avoid food fights at the dinner table with those who disagree with you, especially with young children. Keep in mind that you need to lead by example.
Capricorn: It’s common knowledge that you are frugal, but please try not to be a Scrooge during the holidays. If you’re invited to a holiday party, be a good sport and spring for a nice gift for the host or hostess.
Aquarius: Make sure before you depart for a holiday event or social function, that you double-check the date, place, and time for it. You have been known to get a little lost or confused with these kinds of things, and show up on the wrong day, place, etc., causing untold embarrassment for yourself and others. Also, if it’s a black-tie affair, please wear more than just a black tie to the event. We all know about your reputation for acting a little foolish or outrageous.
Pisces: We know as a fish that you love to drink, but try not to reach for other guests’ drinks.
“Etiquette means behaving yourself a little better than is absolutely essential.” Will Cuppy

Below is a post that I wrote in March 2010 about John Lennon and Yoko Ono‘s wedding horoscope. (They married March 20, 1969). In wake of the 30th anniversary of his death today, I thought I would re-run it. Missing you, John.
“When people get cynical about love, they should look at us [Yoko and John Lennon] and see it is possible.”Yoko Ono.
March 20, 1969 marks the 41st wedding anniversary of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. The colorful pair married in front of the Rock of Gibraltar in a ceremony that lasted only ten minutes. Shortly afterwards, the newlyweds flew to Amsterdam, Holland where they set up quarters in the Presidential Suite at the Hilton. There, for one week, they had the first of two “bed-ins for peace.”
At the hotel, they had a receiving line for the press, gave interviews, answered questions. Not your typical honeymoon fare activities, but then again, John (Libra) and Yoko (Aquarian) were never your “typical couple.”
In their astrological wedding chart that day (time unknown), insatiable Jupiter was exactly conjoined non-conforming Uranus in Libra. Libra is the zodiacal sign of marriage. This potent influence suggested that their partnership would always tend to be “out of the ordinary.” Having these two planets prominent, there would characteristically be a large appetite (Jupiter) and enthusiasm for doing things differently, wanting to rebelliously break with tradition (Uranus), within the confines of their marriage (Libra).
The Sun was also opposite (stressful) Jupiter and Uranus in their horoscope, again reiterating a need for freedom and a tendency to excessive behaviors. The Sun-Uranus influence also, unfortunately, hinted at the chance for a sudden end to the marriage, as the nature of Uranus is often disruptive. The Sun also governs the husband in a wedding chart.
Mercury (communication) was in idealistic, imaginative Pisces. That tended to intellectually attune them more to the humanistic issues of the collective. The Neptune-ruled Pisces mindset, at its highest expression, is intrinsically about dissolving all boundaries, demonstrating selfless love and compassion for each other, peacefully co-existing. It endlessly envisions the world “as one,” just like John perpetually sang about.
Also in their marriage chart, the Sun (purpose) was exactly trine (harmonious) Neptune, again reinforcing that same hopeful theme. The Sun-Neptune tie also gave the union more of a mystical, otherworldy quality to it. Neptune denotes our link to the Divine.
Too, in wake of John’s tragic, sudden departure from the world, Yoko’s marriage to John has maybe, understandably, ended up becoming something “larger than life” for her, something that she has perhaps idealized and placed atop a pedestal. Characteristically with Neptune, we tend to worship and glorify our partners. And, of course, in Yoko’s case, she has had to live a life largely minus John’s physical presence. She maybe has cultivated a rich “spiritual union” with him which would be consistent with the “illusory” Sun Neptune energy. Neptune rules illusion and imagination, as well as the ethereal realms.
Idealistic Mercury in Pisces was also square (inner tension) to opinionated Mars (the warrior) in Sagittarius in the chart. Mars shows our enthusiasms and passions. It also represents our aggressive urge. When it is in philosophical Sagittarius, we can become almost fanatical in our beliefs and often feel a deep need to proselytize others to bring them aboard our same wavelength. We can also be very controversial and blunt in our comments, as Mercury governs our speech and Mars in Sagittarius acts very spontaneously.
Additionally, in their wedding chart, Venus, the planet of love and marriage, was in fiery, adventurous Aries conjoined with dutiful Saturn. Venus-Saturn ties often indicate “karmic relationships” in which we feel a deep sense of responsibility, obligation, and loyalty to each other. Saturn is regarded as the “Lord of Karma” in astrology. This is because he often brings us those more difficult lessons in life that we need to learn and experience in order to evolve and achieve our higher purposes. During the course of their marriage, too, John and Yoko had plenty of Saturnian ups and downs, trials and tribulations, and even an 18-month separation. Too, in the beginning, their very union alienated them from the public and many Beatles’ fans. But despite everything, it managed to endure.
On another level, the Venus placement in the sign of Aries showed, too, that the couple would tend to enjoy “active pursuits” and “pioneering endeavors” that would garner attention to themselves. Venus not only rules love relationships, it also rules what we love to do. Aries as a sign focuses much of its attention on its own self-identity and self-discovery.
Actually, Venus in Aries can contain elements of narcissism to it – making us a little too much enthralled with our own self-image. Of course, when John and Yoko were together, they were both young and still discovering themselves, both individually and as a couple. And, they were both very famous, so they wanted to naturally capitalize on their fame and use it as a springboard to further their more noble, impersonal causes for the collective.

With enterprising Mars sextiling compassionate Neptune (2:39 pm), we have a golden opportunity for unselfish giving, and the spreading around of good deeds. Illusionist Neptune also rules costuming and masquerading – and with energizer Mars stoking its ray – we are possibly seeking to glamorize/dress things up in a bid to escape our daily routines. An excellent day for any projects that employ our creative imagination.
The Moon’s entrance into mysterious Scorpio (9:44 am) also potentially rachets up a desire to scale the heights and depths of our emotional expression.

There’s a New Moon in freedom-loving Sagittarius occurring on December 5, 2010 (12:37 pm). Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius is associated with roaming and exploring, communing in the great outdoors, long-distance travel, foreign cultures, philosophy, and religion. Areas and activities that are often mainstay components of “stretching” or “growing” ourselves beyond our customary borders.
Sagittarius energy is characteristically upbeat and positive. So, this New Moon in Sadge – with new Moons signifying “new beginnings,” may seem like a breath of fresh air for us.
This could very well be a time when our aspirations, and hopes and dreams, all get ramped up a few notches because we’re feeling more optimistic and enthused.
Also, our prospects for success with our dreams, are potentially brighter, because the New Moon forms a harmonious sextile to achievement Saturn in relationship-ruling Libra. An aspect which also may bode well for ushering in a more stabilizing romantic situation for some of us over the next two weeks (could even be with someone from our past, or someone older).
Saturn’s “positive vibe” has a knack for helping us rope in our wishes and fantasies and making them take shape by instilling within us an attitude of commitment, determination, and dedication to hard work. Saturn rules worldly success and status and combined with the “can-do spirit” of Sagittarius, we are primed to “go for the gold.”
Also, this New Moon in Sag forms a quintile to spiritual Neptune, making this a positive time for meditation and more mystical pursuits.
New Moon in Sagittarius activities: Athletics (including horse riding, polo, archery); travel, especially to foreign lands; developing cross-cultural relationships; learning new languages; studying philosophy, religion; creating goal-oriented vision boards; writing; publishing; teaching; preaching; enrolling in new classes; professional speaking; speech-writing; involvement in politics; advertising and self-promotion; developing sales and marketing strategies.

On this last day of November, the Maternal Moon enters social, diplomatic Libra (7:16 am), the sign of the scales. This is a good time for us to weigh everything very carefully, and to also budge or give a little to preserve the peace.
This yielding approach may especially serve us well when the Moon bumps heads with bossy Pluto in Capricorn (2:22 pm) which may potentially bring out the “control freak” in some of us. Or, put us in the path of “those who would be king.”
Idea Maven Mercury also ambitiously moves into Saturn-ruled, authoritative Capricorn (7:11 pm) today, where our thinking is more inclined to become practical and goal-oriented. We are wanting now to glean the utility of our ideas. Mercury in Capricorn says: “Show me the money, honey!” 🙂
“There is nothing so practical as good theory.” Kurt Lewin

“You ought to be able to explain why you’re taking the job you’re taking, why you’re making the investment you’re making, or whatever it may be. And if it can’t stand applying pencil to paper, you’d better think it through some more. And if you can’t write an intelligent answer to those questions, don’t do it.” – Warren Buffet.
Billionaire Warren Buffet, an analytical Virgo, has his Mental Mercury in Balancing Libra in a tight square to show me the money Saturn, in achievement Capricorn. This influence potentially gives him a tendency to want to weigh matters very carefully – characteristically checking ideas and plans for their level of utility – before rendering a decision or verdict or embarking on a particular course of action.
Saturn signifies both responsibility and the practical urge. With Mercury-Saturn, we ideally learn to be accountable for our thoughts and ideas.
Buffett’s more pragmatic orientation is also a good preview of the general mindset that we can expect to adopt with Mental Mercury entering Saturn’s utilitarian Capricorn, November 30th through December 18th. (Mercury enters Capricorn at 7:11 pm on Nov. 30th.)
Mercury signifies our thinking and communication. It also rules transportation.
Mercury in Saturn’s native homestead is practical, cautious, focus and disciplined. Because Saturn also speaks to us of our fears, on the shadow-side, Mercury here can initially make us more fearful and worried, until we have our plans and strategies carefully in place, at which time we tend to feel more confident and in control.
Too, with Karma Lord Saturn’s inherent penchant for wanting to call the shots, Mercury in Capricorn tends to make us want to communicate in an authoritative manner. We want to be taken seriously and want to give the impression that we know what we’re talking about.
Mercury in Capricorn is also a time to evaluate, and if warranted, put into motion the futuristic ideas and inspirations we received while Mercury was stationed in Dreamer Sagittarius.
(Mercury will be retrograde December 10th through December 30th. It will also leave Capricorn and re-enter Sagittarius on December 18th, where it will stay until January 13th of 2011, at which time it goes back into Capricorn, staying there until February 3, 2011. Mercury retrograde is a period when we review and or revise our decisions, taking action on them when Mercury once again goes direct.)

With intellectual Mercury square to inventive Uranus today we may receive sudden, brilliant, intuitive insights into things, and be able to solve problems, puzzles more quickly. On the shadow side, we may feel more mentally restless.
Additionally, we have Mercury sextile imaginative Neptune which bodes well for our creative and psychic abilities. A day when it is very easy to get lost in our fantasies. Too, we may also want to pay closer attention to our nocturnal dreams now which Neptune rules as they could be trying to tell us something.
Since Neptune also symbolically represents our link with the divine this is a perhaps good time to go inward.
“All the works of man have their origin in creative fantasy. What right have we then to depreciate imagination.”Carl Jung
