The possibility of our being able to convey our brilliant, dazzling ideas in an energetic, clever fashion may be elevated today as thinker Mercury, the Winged Messenger of communication, exits slow, deliberate Taurus and flits into breezy Gemini (7:12 am EDT), one of two signs that it rules. Mercury will be in fast-talking, witty Gemini until July 7th and joins Venus and the Sun there.

Since Gemini energy is more nervous and restless, on the shadow side there can be more of tendency for us to become mentally scattered with Mercury here, especially if we go overboard on the multi-tasking and do not get enough rest. Mercury in Gemini is also insatiably curious and loves gathering and disseminating information.  This quality of mind can serve us particularly well now if we have any research or writing projects to do. It can also help us in any sales, cold-calling or promotional type work.

The Moon also continues a second day in sensitive, nesting Cancer making an early morning sextile to motivator Mars in productive Virgo (6:59 am EDT). This suggests that we can make excellent progress on the home front now, especially if we need to do some tidying or straightening up. Cleaning out the refrigerator especially comes to mind with the Moon in food-related Cancer. With the illuminating Sun square foggy Neptune, we may be a bit unsure about how to navigate the day, as this aspect can sometimes cloud our normal judgment or perspective. If this is the case, we may just want to do a little coasting now. Take our foot off of the accelerator. Rely on our faith to carry us through to our destination and trust that it will take us to the place where are suppose to be.

The Sun Neptune influence naturally yields itself to the pursuit of more creative or spiritual outlets. Film-making, photography, painting, songwriting, meditation and prayer are all favored. This energy may also sharpen our psychic sensitivities. COSMIC WATCH:

Mercury conjunct philosophical Jupiter brings an expansive quality to the mind. Not only is there an abundance of enthusiasm for communication and for gathering and imparting information, but there is also more of an ability to comprehend the broader aspects of issues, commonly referred to as the “big picture” point of view.

On the flip side, we may be less interested now regarding the fine details of matters, something that we may want to be mindful of if we are doing any long-range planning.

This is also an excellent day to expose ourselves to the ideas and beliefs of other cultures, as not only are we potentially more tolerant of divergent viewpoints now, but we are also more eager to add new outlooks or perceptions to our intellectual toolboxes.

Too, the Sun, Moon and Venus are all deposited in curious Gemini, so the Universe really seems to be committed to nudging us along in the direction of new learning and an expanded mindset.

We may additionally want to examine our beliefs about money and wealth creation today, with the Mercury Jupiter conjunction occurring in bullish Taurus. Just exactly how might our beliefs be serving us here? How may they be hindering us? What actions might we take now to ensure our financial freedom in the future?

While we are still jazzed about the new options before us, in the aftermath of Sunday’s sizzling solar eclipse in excitable Gemini, today we have more time for reflection and evaluation with intellectual Mercury in a quinqunx aspect to skeptical Saturn. This more awkward blend of energy is meant to provide us with a reality check. Mercury-Saturn suggests that we may need to apply some technical know-how now to our ideas, to make sure they can really fly. Also, with Saturn in Libra, the sign of others, it could be that this awareness manifests in the form of other people providing us with their opinions or input about what they think is best for us.

Sometimes, too, with Mercury Saturn, our voice (Mercury) is literally or symbolically muted (Saturn). We are more fearful of speaking up. If we are feeling this way now, we may want to curiously go deeper with this thread and see where it leads. COSMIC WATCH:

We just may be able to pull a few rabbits out of the hat with the New Moon/Solar Eclipse at 0 degrees of clever Gemini (7:47 pm EDT) – the sign of thinking, communication, travel and transportation. New Moons herald new beginnings. Since this one is also a Solar Eclipse its impact is ramped up and extended (3 to 6 months).

Those most affected by this event will likely have planets within 5 degrees of the 0 degree mark of the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces). The house (or area of life) that this eclipse is falling in will provide the backdrop for this new start.

This lunation – which is a conjunction of the Sun and Moon – forms a tight square to psychedelic Neptune in oceanic Pisces,  suggesting that we may be doing a little bit of skinny dipping into the fertile waters of our imagination now to write this new chapter in our life. But, watch out! There’s no telling what may wash ashore with the curious Sun and Moon in Gemini being whimsically guided by master magician Neptune. If things appear too good to be true now, they probably are. Especially the glorious vision of George Clooney begging us to sail away with him on the Good Ship Lollipop for ole’ time’s sake. 🙂

Perennially a temptation with Neptune is a tendency to engage in wishful thinking. We also do not care to be reminded now that a rose also has a thorny stem.  Gemini is a very cerebral sign; however, aligned with Neptune our emotions and dreaminess tends to permeate our thoughts and reasoning.

Someone who has seemingly managed to masterfully integrate his imagination and idealism into his life’s work and self-expression is Paul McCartney. In a way, Paul is a good template for this eclipse as he not only has “magical mystery tour” Neptune exactly conjunct his Virgo Ascendant (how he views the world), he is also a Gemini Sun and Neptune exactly squares his Sun (what we have now). Granted, Paul is a rare, musical genius and most of us are not as gifted. But we still do have the ability to pick up that pole and go fishing within for the true answers.

Too, intellectual Mercury – Gemini’s ruler – is conjunct fortuitous Jupiter now. Both are together in grounded Taurus. This bodes well for our ability to not only think big but to also manifest what we see before us in our mind’s eye. The trick being – with the Moon and Sun in restless Gemini square fairy-tale Neptune – we will probably need to carefully pace ourselves and aim to bring one vision at a time to a satisfactory completion; otherwise, we run the risk of going adrift because we do not have our sail cast in any particular direction.

New Moon in Gemini activities: writing, blogging, reading, reporting, speaking, teaching, attending classes or lectures, short trips, sightseeing, visits with neighbors or siblings, sales, open air concerts, shopping for autos, cell phones, books.

Lovable Venus stations retrograde at 24 degrees of Gemini (10:33 am EDT). It will remain retrograde until June 27. During Venus’s apparent backward dance in the sky we have a chance to carefully reflect upon and critique all the areas that Venus governs: our romantic life; the way we socialize or interact with others; the values we espouse and hold dear to our heart; the aspects of our life that provide us with pleasure or beauty. Venus also presides over our attitudes towards money and possessions.

Traditionally, the retrograde phase of a planet is a time when it is normally advised to postpone any important decision-making regarding the affairs ruled by that planet, as the theory is that the final verdict or takeaway on a matter will not be known until the planet resumes direct motion again.

Venus goes retrograde every 18 months. The last time that it went retrograde in Gemini was on May 17, 2004. Fascinatingly, back then on that very date, is when the state of Massachusetts issued the first, fully legal, same-sex marriage licenses in the United States (Venus rules marriage).

Now once again, just days prior to Venus going retrograde in this same sign, the sign of the twins, more history has been made on this same issue with President Obama openly coming out in support of same-sex marriage, the first U.S. president to do so.

COSMIC WATCH:

The empowering Sun in Taurus is having its annual conjunction with generous Jupiter (9:23 am EDT), a planet that is often billed as the Cosmic Santa. Ideally, this configuration will foster in us a greater sense of optimism and well-being. This is a fabulous day to dream big and envision the world as our oyster.

Communicator Mercury is also trining energizer Mars (4:54 pm EDT) allowing us to express ourselves persuasively with words. This is a wonderful aspect for lively conversation and also for strategic thinking, especially with Mars in analytical Virgo.

The Moon’s immersion into compassionate Pisces also makes it timely to display forgiveness and mercy. Extending the olive branch may be the right thing to do now – especially since Sun-Jupiter can also help us to see the best in others. “Forgiveness is like faith. Thinker Mercury’s sextile to “fantasy” Neptune (5:59 pm EDT) adds a dreamy quality to our evening.  It’s also positive for projects that engage our imagination. This aspect can additionally stimulate our psychic ability, as well as provoke interest in more mystical or spiritual matters. Sometimes, too, with this influence we experience very vivid night dreams, some of which may even be prophetic (I recently had such a dream with the Sun opposite my Neptune). In the News: President Obama publicly came out in favor of same-sex marriage on Wednesday, reversing his earlier position. He is the first U.S. president to go on record supporting gay marriage.  Interestingly, in his horoscope now he has Mars, the planet of action, exactly conjunct his natal Pluto, which symbolizes rebirth and transformation. This conjunction is also occurring in his seventh house, the sector of the horoscope that governs marriage.

Mars-Pluto is a very potent influence that can elevate a person’s level of intensity and also make them very determined to achieve their ends. Metaphorically, it can depict someone “going to battle” for what they believe in. It can also coincide with a person making a sweeping change or overhaul in their life. Sometimes this revamping is necessary because there is additional clarity now about a matter. What perhaps served the person before is likely no longer working, so the person may feel that they have almost no choice but to alter their course.
