The U.S. military’s highest decoration, the “Medal of Honor,” was presented by President Barack Obama on Tuesday to Staff Sargent Salvatore Giunta at a special White House ceremony. Guinta is the first living person to receive the Medal since the Vietnam War. Guinta was honored for saving members of his squad in 2007 during the War in Afghanistan.

In astrology, the planet Mars rules “war” and “the military.” Mars (the aggressive urge) also denotes acts of “bravery” and “courage.”

On Tuesday, when the Medal was awarded, warrior Mars in inspirational Sagittarius was exactly sextile to “Lord of Karma” Saturn in peacekeeper Libra – an influence that often rewards us for our efforts. In this case, a courageous military hero (Mars) was formally saluted (Saturn) for his bravery.

COSMIC WATCH:

With “Love Goddess” Venus in matrimonial Libra and in a harmonious trine to fantasy Neptune, Britain’s Prince William finally proposes to long-time girlfriend Kate Middleton, after an eight-year courtship. The Royal Wedding is reportedly slated to take place sometime next spring or summer.

Venus trine Neptune is often regarded as a classic aspect of storybook romance. Venus denotes love and affection while Neptune signifies idealism. Symbolically with Venus-Neptune we are longing for a perfect love. Cupid’s bow and arrow, under Neptune’s spell, is thought to transport our hopeful hearts to a magical realm, ideally shielded from the woes and worries of everyday living.

It’s interesting how just the news of this royal engagement has already created an exciting, fanciful buzz for the couple around the world.

After all, who among us does not want to believe in “fairytale endings?”

Astrology November 13, 2010: Sun Conjunct Uranus – Ronald Reagan Runs for President

On This Date In History:

On November 13, 1979: Ronald Reagan announces in New York his candidacy for president. The empowering Sun is in transformational Scorpio and exactly conjunct unconventional Uranus; an influence associated with breaking free from limitations and striking out on a new path

The Sun, as ruler of Leo, represent leaders and authority figures, while Uranus, as ruler of forward-looking Aquarius (Reagan’s Sun-sign), signifies change and radical new ideas/approaches. Scorpio is also the sign that rules taxes, debt, credit, and investments.

On days when the Sun and Uranus are conjoined, we may witness a departure from the past, in terms of leadership matters as well as sudden developments.

Reagan went on to win the U.S. presidency, the following year, and ended up serving two complete terms in office from January 21, 1981 to January 21, 1989. His presidency has been termed the “Reagan Revolution” (Uranus) as it was regarded to have initiated a “political realignment” both within the U.S. and beyond in favor of his brand of conservatism and free markets.

Pioneering Mars was also strong in theatrical Leo that day, and Reagan was previously “an actor” before becoming governor of California. Mars in Leo can usher in more “colorful” and “charismatic” leadership.

The Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, and the North Node were also all in practical, “no frills” Virgo, maybe helping to foster more an acceptance of a message, on the part of the public, of a more “scaled down” type of government agenda and economic philosophy.

“Government does not solve problems; it subsidizes them.” Ronald Reagan

Astrology Mercury Sextile Pluto – Insight for Solving Life’s Riddles

On This Date in History:

On November 12, 1970, scientists perform the first artificial synthesis of a live cell. At the time, Mental Mercury, governing logic and reasoning ability, was in investigative Scorpio at 29 degrees, the sign of DNA, regeneration, and the mysteries of life. Mercury was also exactly sextile to Scorpio’s ruler Pluto, at 29 degrees of analytical Virgo, which is also the sign of health.

Mercury sextile Pluto is deemed to be excellent for research, as Mercury’s understanding and reasoning is given much greater depth and focus when aligned with intense Pluto, which symbolizes what’s “hidden below” (life at the cellular level).

Too, Mercury’s placement in Scorpio, in addition to its “sextile to Pluto,” was like having a ‘double whammy’ of transformational Scorpio energy to work with that day. Also, Virgo is a sign associated with microscopically “breaking things down” so as to understand them better.

Other planetary influences at the time: Mercury was conjunct imaginative Neptune at 0 degrees of scholastic Sagittarius; fortuitous Venus and Jupiter were exactly conjunct in Scorpio, perhaps bringing an element of “luck” and “more advantageous conditions” to the matter of research and problem-solving (Scorpio). The Sun was also in Scorpio exactly opposite Karma Lord Saturn in manifesting Taurus. Saturn represents “form-building” while oppositions denote “turning points.”

Finally, pioneering Mars in intellectual Libra was also separating from a potent conjunction with breakthrough Uranus, a planet known to bestow “sudden flashes of brilliance.”  Uranus often acts as a catalyst for change and often manifests it through technological and scientific advancement.

Mars Conjunct Uranus: John Lennon and Yoko Ono Appear Nude on Two Virgins Album

astrology, John Lennon and Yoko Ono appear nude on 2Virgins Album, Mars conjunct Uranus, Moon in Leo, rebellious, sexuality, this day in history november 11 2010, Two Virgins Album, Yoko Ono

THIS DATE IN HISTORY

ON NOVEMBER 11, 1968: John Lennon and Yoko Ono appear nude on the cover of the “Two Virgins” album.

Among the aspects that day, adventurous Mars was exactly conjunct wild card Uranus in partnership-minded Libra, potentially a time when we may seek out more freedom of expression in ways that might be described as unconventional – perhaps even a bit rebellious.

Libra also governs artistic expression, and it could be that John and Yoko were partly expressing themselves in that manner when they decided to get involved with the project.

Too, Mars also rules our sexuality or desire, and paired again with experimental Uranus, there may be more of a receptivity or proclivity to shake things up bit in this department.

Meanwhile, Luna, that day, was deposited center-stage, in bold, performative Leo.

Unsurprisingly, when the “Two Virgins” album was released, it became instantly famous and controversial.

Pluto Conjunct the North Node in Capricorn

ambitions, career, honesty, personal power, Pluto conjunct the North Node, regeneration

Regenerating Pluto, denoting power and transition, is conjunct the growth oriented North Node in Capricorn today, a sign associated with worldly ambition and achievement.

Symbolically, this is potentially an excellent time for us to reflect upon and embrace our own power. or to review how we may have wielded our power in the past to attain the things that we desired.

Too, we may want to use this time to give an accounting of some of our past actions to others.

It could be that we may also gain some closure now, for ourselves and others, by explaining why we may have behaved certain ways in the past.

With the transformational properties of Pluto at hand, this may also be an ideal time to re-fashion or revitalize our image, especially our public image and worldly reputation (Capricorn).

We also may want to tweak or revamp our higher goals for ourselves in wake of emerging new awareness (Pluto) of our destiny (North Node).
