COSMIC WEATHER:

The Night Goddess Moon is conducting quality control in Continuous Improvement Virgo. We may want to follow her example and set about improving procedures and protocol in our own lives.

The Virgo Moon loves dissecting and breaking things apart to observe operational efficiencies. Virgo symbolically rules the digestive system in the body.

Too, with the Illuminating Sun in Sexy Scorpio, a sign that is also highly investigative in its own right, some of us now may want to undertake a thorough analysis of our more intimate night moves, with a thought on how to perfect them. Scorpio does rules sex therapy. 🙂

It should also be noted that today, The Love Maven herself, Ms. Venus, in Passionate Scorpio, is involved in yet another retrograde linkup with Penetrating Pluto in High Achievement Capricorn. This is compliments of that “naughty little sextile aspect.” What this means is that we may be infinitely more appealing to the opposite sex now. Hooray!!!

So, despite the fact that it’s a Monday, we probably need to get off of our duffs and back to work casting those heavy-duty love spells, brewing up those alluring love potions, as these efforts may finally pay off for a change. Who knows, George Clooney may even appear on our doorstep again, if we are diligent enough in our spell-making.

Mesmerizing Venus-Pluto can sometimes even brings us “our soulmate.” Or at least, with a Tidy Virgo Moon also beaming down, someone with “above average” vacuuming skills, a much-needed talent which can do wonders for preserving relationships in the long run.

Activities highlighted today: cleaning, organizing, taking inventory, weeding, pruning, crossword puzzles, editing, counseling, holistic and alternative healing methods, fixing what’s broken, eliminating what is no longer needed, scaling back on activities that are taking up too much of our time.

Quote for Today:

“One word frees us of all the weight and pain of life: that word is love.” Sophocles

This Date In History:

On November 1, 1972, the first “gay theme” TV Movie airs, “That Certain Summer.” Mars, which rules sex, was exactly conjunct Equality planet Uranus in partnership Libra. Uranus perennially defies convention and tradition, so we had a movie come out here that unabashedly showcased gay romance, something unprecedented for that time period.  As I have mentioned here before, Uranus’s ray is often prominent in gay rights issues.

Additionally, Love Goddess Venus was exactly conjunct Transforming Pluto, also in relationship Libra, another pivotal influence that can serve to “reframe” relationships in new ways.

(Today, we have Venus sextile Pluto, a similar aspect to the Venus-Pluto conjunction. We may want to keep our eyes on the news to see if any compelling “relationship issues” grab the headlines.

Sometimes, too, Venus-Pluto can be manipulative with our emotions. The “Balloon Boy” saga unfolded last fall with Venus square Pluto. Many of us were then “taken in” by the event. Usually “a lot of drama” occurs with Venus-Pluto.

Speaking of drama, this aspect can also signal a time when our “ex-lovers” come back from the dead to haunt us, especially now when we are still so close to spooky Halloween.)

COSMIC WEATHER:

The Illuminating Sun in Spooky Scorpio is channeling ghosts and goblins from Halloweens past. The Nocturnal Moon in Drama Queen Leo is fully engaging her vast arsenal of witch powers.

Today may be a great day to summon up and poignantly display our own personal magic, fly above the clouds with our own heady sense of power.  We may want to think about devising ingenious ways to put others “under our spell.” Especially George Clooney.

Yes, yes, yes. In honor of Halloween, let’s all put on our pointed black witch hats and not be afraid to go flying on our sweeping brooms tonight. Perhaps that Wild Adventurer Mars, newly initiated in “Distant Horizons” Sagittarius, will graciously serve as our tour guide if we “treat” him right.

To the Moon, Mars! To the Moon!”

COSMIC WEATHER:

The Moon continues in “There’s No Place Like Home” Cancer making “Dorothy in Oz” one happy little munchkin. The “Cook-Happy” Cancer Moon also throws harmonious trines to “Good Witch” Jupiter (10:28 am EDT) and “Wizard” Uranus (3:49 pm EDT) in “Fantasy-Prone” Pisces, giving us an itch to perhaps add some dreamy “rainbow sherbet” to the menu, for a change of pace.

Later on, the Moon roars into “Warmhearted” Leo (8:39 pm EDT). Even the “Cowardly Lion” begins to purr.

Activities highlighted today: Cooking, family dinners, trying out new recipes, grocery-shopping, shopping for furniture and home appliances, redecorating the home front, investigating ancestry, involvement with charitable undertakings, whatever outlets that allow for the demonstration of our nurturing abilities.

Quote for the day:

“I long, as does every human being, to be at home wherever I find myself.” Maya Angelou

On This Date in history:

On October 29, 1966 the National Organization of Women (NOW) was founded. Traditionalist Saturn was in Pisces, a sign that denotes the downtrodden and disenfranchised elements of a society. Saturn was in a tight opposition to Empowering, Equality-Ruling Uranus in Abilities and Skills Virgo.

With Saturn opposite Uranus, we had a symbolic pitting of “the old” (Saturn) against “the new” (Uranus). Rebel Uranus in Service-Oriented Virgo was perhaps suggesting here that we should “equalize our roles of service,” “level the playing field.” Allow and empower individuals (women) to “serve” in new ways.

Protocol Minded Saturn, in Ego-Denying Pisces, was also possibly generating awareness of how the established rules (Saturn), over the years, had served to imprison and deny (Pisces) free expression (Uranus) to part of the populace.

Venus, ruling women, was in Regenerating Scorpio (redefining women) and exactly square to Expansive Jupiter in Self-Expressive Leo. As an organization, NOW immediately captured the spotlight (Leo) and had major (Jupiter) transformational impact on shaping women’s behavior and self-expression.

With Venus-Jupiter, too, we sometimes “go overboard” or “get carried away” in our desires. Those critical of NOW may say that, that has also been the case, that there has always been too much “zealotry” (Jupiter) with respect to the agenda and leadership (Leo) of the organization.

The Feminine Moon was also in Stabilizing and Steady Taurus, and involved in a Fixed T-Square to both Venus and Jupiter, making for more of an “uncompromising” emotional energy that is not known for “letting go.” Adding perhaps even more resolve and determination to the NOW organization and its operational principles.

COSMIC WEATHER:

The Feminine Moon continues in Maternal Cancer emphasizing our nurturing instincts. The Moon is also lovingly supported here by Relationship Venus conjoined the Empowering Sun in Healing Scorpio. With Venus-Sun, we have perfect, soothing energy for forging intimate connections with others. Our creativity is also elevated.

Venus, too, represents “things of beauty.” With Venus-Sun, we have more of a desire to be surrounded by beautiful objects. Therefore, it’s a good day to go shopping for items of personal adornment (clothes, jewelry, perfume) or for decorative accessories to jewel the home front, especially with the Moon now in Domestic Diva Cancer.  Too, with Venus and the Sun deposited in transitioning Scorpio, it may be a time when we can snatch some treasures at estate sales or consignment shops.

Meanwhile, Energy planet Mars, representing our will and self-assertion, leaves Intense Scorpio for Visionary Sagittarius (2:48 am EDT), where it is in search of wisdom and higher knowledge. Mars in Sagittarius has a deep need for learning, and also an equal desire to don the soapbox and speak out on the issues of the day. With Mars in Sagittarius, we will want to passionately begin rallying behind the causes we believe in, and not be afraid to state our personal views and opinions. (Mars will be in Sagittarius until December 7th.)

Interestingly, the last time Mars entered Sagittarius, mid-November of 2008, is when U.S. President-elect Barack Obama resigned his Senate seat. Sagittarius is the sign of politics, and with Aggressor Mars’ entry into this sign, the upcoming U.S. midterm-elections, on tap for next week, are certain to become even more heated.

The intrinsic nature of Mars is “trail-blazing” and “pioneering,” so it could be, theoretically, that with Mars in Sagittarius, incumbents may have a harder time holding onto their seats. It could also mean that many of us will be more energized to get involved in politics, this election season, instead of sitting on the sidelines. Mars denotes our passions and tends to “fire us up.” On the shadow side, Mars in Sagittarius is more inclined to be impulsive, reckless, and scattered.

News Update: With Mars entering idealistic Sagittarius today the Minister of Defense in France announced that France and some other NATO nations may begin withdrawing troops from Afghanistan next year. Interestingly, Mars rules war and the military. Its departure from defensive, retaliatory Scorpio to Inspirational, Philosophical Sagittarius could be interpreted perhaps as more of a willingness to “tame the aggressive urge” out of hope that a “higher order of things” may prevail in the future.  Sagittarius is more of a dreamy, visionary sign.

Activities highlighted now: cooking, decorating, teaching, learning, writing, politics, romance, parties, antiquing, healing, beauty treatments, personal pampering.

Quote For The Day:

“In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock.” Thomas Jefferson

Famous Birthday Today:

American computer billionaire, Bill Gates, is 55 today! Gates has a Resourceful, Investigative Scorpio Sun, with a Pioneering Aries Moon (conjunct his Aries 10th house of Career), and a Nurturing Cancer Rising or Ascendant. Uranus, which denotes genius and originality, is conjunct Gate’s Ascendant, making him futuristic and a trend-setter, and also very brilliant and original.  In his money house, Jupiter and Pluto are also exactly conjunct in Flashy, Regal Leo, a classic signature of “mega-money.” Happy Birthday, Bill!

This Date In History:

On October 28, 1636, Harvard University was founded in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Jupiter, which rules higher education and colleges, was conjunct Venus, in Analytical Virgo. Venus rules “what we love,” and combined with Scholarly Jupiter, there can be an “abundant love of learning.” Jupiter, the expansive principle, also rules the Academically-minded sign of Sagittarius (which Mars is entering today).

Also, Venus and Jupiter were in a harmonious trine to Renewing Pluto, in Anchoring Taurus, suggesting that “educational pursuits” could provide opportunity for “transformation and firm footing.” No telling how many doors have been opened, over the years, for individuals holding distinguished degrees from Harvard University.

COSMIC WEATHER:

Today, Realist Saturn is in a weird 135-degree alignment (sesquiquadrate) to Escapist Neptune.  It may be more difficult to stay focused on our practical goals, as Neptune’s murky ray tends to generate confusion, even paranoia. We may want to make sure that we carry around with us an “exit strategy” today, as reality could get a “little spooky” at times.  Too, we are coming up on Halloween.  Today seems to be a “fitting precursor” to that macabre holiday.

The Moon also switches from Chatty Gemini to Haunted House Cancer (3:15 pm EDT). The Moon’s opposition, shortly thereafter, to Dark Spirit Pluto (9:12 pm EDT) could be when the “poltergeist activity” reaches a fever pitch on the home front. 🙂

Today’s quote for the day:

“Confusion is the welcome mat at the door of creativity.” Michael Gelb

On this date in history:

On October 27, 1985 thieves reportedly stole 9 paintings including 5 Monet‘s and 2 Renoir‘s.  Aggressor Mars had just entered Artistic Libra and was in a tight square to Deceptive Neptune in Ambitious Capricorn.  Neptune rules paintings, while the shadow side of Mars is associated with criminal behavior. Mars-Neptune is often synonymous with swindlers and con men. Neptune gives a penchant for “duplicity” and “conniving.”

COSMIC WEATHER:

Moon continues in Earthy, Sensual Taurus. And, with four planets in Sexy Scorpio, including the Love Duo of Venus and Mars, it may be a good time to lounge around the boudoir and perfect our intimate night moves. Even in the daytime!

What’s also cool here is Mars (which rules sex) is exactly trine Uranus, the planet of Originality.  Uranus is also in Fantasy-Minded Pisces. There’s no way we can lose now.  All we have to do is be a little original!

I have also listed down below, different events that have occurred in recent years, with Mars-Uranus.  This is a time when we want to change things up. Be willing to get out of our box. Look at our lives in new ways.  Even making minor changes today may serve us well in the long run.

Activities Spotlighted Today: Boating, fishing, dancing, research, studying astrology (Uranus rules astrology), meditation, treasure-hunting, reviewing insurance and financial matters, theater, music, painting, sculpting, ceramics, romance, gardening, baking, massage, facials.

On This Date In History:

October 24, 1901: Anna Taylor becomes the first woman in history to go over Niagara Falls in a barrel. The Moon was in Sea-Ruling Pisces. The Sun had also just entered Resourceful Scorpio and was exactly trine Neptune (the ruler of Pisces), making it an ideal time for aquatic activities.  Neptune and Pisces both rule boating and, I guess, in this case, a barrel qualifies as a form of navigation on the water.

Another aspect I love here is Venus, ruling women, was in adventurous Sagittarius, and exactly conjunct Experimental Uranus. Venus also represents our hobbies and pastimes, what we enjoy doing in our free time for recreation. On Venus-Uranus days, we often are in the mood to “try new pleasures.” Uranus also has a need for originality, and putting its personal stamp on everything. Way to go, Anna! Better you than me.

In the News:

Almost 400,000 classified field reports from the Iraqi War were released by Wikileaks on Friday, the same day we had the Full Moon in Aries.  Aries rules war and the military; full moons bring illumination.

Mars (ruler of Aries) in Investigative Scorpio was also applying to an exact trine to Rebel Uranus in Behind the Scenes Pisces, when the disclosure was made, probably another factor in helping to bring the hidden (classified) information to the forefront. Uranus can bring “sudden new developments,” and aligned with Mars, these developments can center around the war and military. Several U.S. officials have condemned the leaks including Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Some other notable events with Mars trine Uranus in the recent past:

1) Oct 29, 2008 – Delta Airlines merged with Northwest Airlines forming the world’s largest commercial air carrier. Mars was in Scorpio (the sign of joint resources) and trine to Uranus in Pisces (just like now). (Uranus rules aviation, Pisces is the sign that dissolves borders. Mars blazes new trails.)

2) Nov 4, 2008 – Mars in Scorpio separating 2 degrees from a trine to Uranus in Pisces: Barrack Obama is elected President of the U.S. Mars in Scorpio is transformational and Uranus is the planet of change.  Obama ran on a “platform of change.”

3) May 17, 2004 – Mars in Familial Cancer trine Uranus in Pisces: Massachusetts legalizes same-sex marriage in compliance with a ruling from the state’s Supreme Judicial Court (Goodridge v. Department of Public Health).  Mars rules sex and Uranus is associated with equality. Frequently when gay rights issues are in the news, Uranus’ ray is prominent.

4) November 25, 2002 – U.S. President George W. Bush signs the Homeland Security Act into law, creating the Department of Homeland Security, in the largest U.S. government reorganization since the Department of Defense was created in 1947. Mars was in Judicial Libra trine Uranus in Experimental Aquarius.

Mars rules defense and the military.  It also rules the aggressive urge.  With the “animalistic” side of Mars, we are more concerned with basic self-preservation issues. Mars-Uranus makes us more amenable to making sweeping changes, trying new things out. Also at the time, Expansive Jupiter was in Leadership Leo exactly sextile to Transforming Pluto in Patriotic Sagittarius. With Jupiter-Pluto we are looking to expand our range of control. Sagittarius adds more of a zealotry to whatever we are doing.  It also rules politics and our moral beliefs.  Pluto’s ray is often activated with respect to issues of terrorism and subversive groups, and the Homeland Security department was largely a response to 9/11.

5) June 5, 2000 – 405 The Move, the first short film widely distributed on the Internet, is released.  Mars was in Communicative Gemini trine Uranus in Aquarius.  Uranus rules the internet. (Mercury was also exactly quinqunx Neptune in Aquarius, with Neptune ruling films.)

COSMIC WEATHER:

The Illuminating Sun enters Dark Scorpio (8:35 am EDT) shining her bright light on our “Shadow Side,” that subconscious region of ourselves that is the compendium of all of our most bewitching elements: fears, phobias, anger, jealousy, and other assorted offerings.

The Sun also joins Mental Mercury, Love Goddess Venus, and Sexual Mars in Scorpio, reinforcing and intensifying the deeper emotional emphasis. With Karma Lord Saturn, also in Relationship Libra, it could be that there are a few things that we are feeling particularly guilty about now, especially on the romantic front.  We need to learn how to let go of the guilt. Free ourselves from our inner shackles. Scorpio energy is all about “regeneration” and “repair.”

Additionally, the Moon is in practical, materially-minded Taurus today. While we’re dealing with our weightier, emotional issues, we may also want to find some time to balance our checkbooks and pay a few bills.  The Taurus Moon is also a great time to commune with nature. It would probably be a good day to plant some bulbs.

Quote for today:

“Afflictions are but the shadows of God’s wings.” George MacDonald

On This Date In History:

On October 23, 1814 the first plastic surgery is performed (in England). Venus, the planet of beauty, was exactly conjunct Mars in Libra (the sign that Venus rules). Libra also has to do with beauty and harmony, smoothing out difficulties.  Perhaps, in this case, smoothing out wrinkles and crows feet, so as to render a more pleasing Venusian appearance? Not sure of all the particulars regarding this first plastic surgery. Whether it was a nose job, tummy tuck, or maybe a breast augmentation. Mars also denotes surgeons.

The Moon was in hi-tech, experimental Aquarius.

Mental Mercury was in Scorpio, the official sign of surgery (Scorpio is formally co-ruled by Mars and Pluto). Mercury was in a harmonious trine aspect to Transforming Pluto in Fantasy Pisces. Pisces, ruled by Neptune, deals with illusion and make-believe. (Pisces also rules cosmetics.)

Mercury-Pluto is often synonymous with notable ability for problem-solving, figuring things out, solving mysteries. In this instance, it was focused on figuring out how to turn back the hands of time, to the days of luscious, supple, more smoother skin, minus any unnerving age spots.

Also to “seal the sutures” that day, Sexy Venus and Mars were in a healthy, supportive sextile to Neptune, who was, of course, “masquerading as someone much younger.”

COSMIC WEATHER:

A lot on the “Cosmic Plate” again today:

One “biggie” is Aggressor Mars in Penetrating Scorpio square to Evasive Neptune in Mr. Sandman Pisces.

Mars-Neptune can denote “passive-aggressiveness” and “misplaced aggression.” Mars rules the will and aggressive urge. Neptune rules the urge to escape.  Mix them together, and on the shadow side, the resulting cocktail can be pretty lethal to drink. Nobody wants to be held accountable for anything. Part of the reason is that there may be a feeling that we are “in over our head.” Mars-Neptune tends to produce feelings of “irrational fear,” “paranoia,” and generalized “vague discomfort.”

Neptune also represents lies and deceit, and with Mars involved in the equation, clandestinely stoking Neptune’s “less than truthful” ray, it’s a prime time to be on our guard, lest we get hoodwinked or swindled.

Neptune additionally rules art and paintings, while Mars can denote thieves and the “criminal element.”  Neptune, too, rules “con men.” It seems that we often hear about break-ins at art galleries with this type of energy. As a precautionary measure: We may want to lock up our valuable “paint by number” masterpieces, that are randomly scattered about on the home front. Lest they appear later on the black market, only to be snatched up by some eccentric millionaire for his private collection.

Mars additionally rules another biggie: Sex! And Mars is presently in Passionate Scorpio (a sign it co-rules with Pluto). Mars merged with fantasy Neptune could mean that the bedtime hours could prove very interesting tonight!

Too, Neptune rules costumes and all manner of disguise (the plot thickens). We may want to keep this in mind when we’re getting ready to put on our pj’s. It could be we may want to slip into our Halloween attire a few days early.  See if that procures for us a few more treats between the sheets! 🙂

We may even want to masquerade as a “double agent,” since we also have Mental Mercury in “From Beyond the Grave” Scorpio sextiling Grand Master Spy Pluto, a prime time for figuring out big life and death mysteries and for also hearing about scary, macabre secrets, including “how to surreptitiously vacuum” without invoking the wrath of ghosts from Halloweens past.

Last, but not least, we have a “Magical” Blue Moon tonight at 29 degrees of Aries (9:38 pm EDT). A “blue moon” is when we have two full moons in one month. The second one is called a “Blue Moon.” There is also something “urgent” about this Moon occurring as it does at the anaretic point (last degree) of Aries.

Full Moons bring “awareness” and represent a “culmination point.” Aries is about identity and self-expression, and proving ourselves through action. Ironically, Aries’ ruler, Mars, is in Deep Dark Scorpio, in that captive, “held hostage” position with Neptune, in which its effectiveness is watered down and murkier to chart. It could be that what is illumined now is all the scary and hidden Scorpio stuff, the foreboding skeletons, that we carry around inside ourselves, as Scorpio rules the subterranean regions of our beings. Plus we also have Creepy, Crawly Spy Agent Pluto in that adult sextile relationship with Twenty something Mercury.

Who really knows, though, what this cosmic puzzle definitively means? Maybe that’s another reason why the Moon is so blue tonight. She’s clueless, too.

Activities recommended today: Attending “masquerade balls,” spying under the sheets, vacuuming in the pitch black, watching rats exiting sinking ships, visiting bats in the belfry, bottling up our aggression and trying to sell it on Ebay for big bucks, flying close to the Blue Moon on broomsticks, befriending witches and wizards, discussing the theory of relativity with revered jack-o-lanterns, polka dancing in the moonlight to Lawrence Welk music, songwriting, singing in the shower, reading and writing poetry, being extra kind to bartenders and fishes.

Quote for today:

Notable Birthdays:

Deepak Chopra turns 64 today. Deepak has a Mystical, Sensitive Pisces Rising, with a Peace-Loving Libra Sun, and an Analytical, Health-minded Virgo Moon. His Sun, denoting his “sense of self,” is conjunct Expansive, Philosophical Jupiter in Probing Scorpio.

The Sun-Jupiter conjunction is a classic signature of a “teacher,” and also of a “writer.” Sun-Jupiter tends to be optimistic in nature, perennially believing the glass is half full. Jupiter also rules religion and Sun-Jupiter natives often naturally have a “preacher-type” manner about them, in that they usually feel called upon to help others “broaden their horizons.” Deepak also has Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius on his tenth house of career, suggesting a “Jupiter” (teacher-preacher-public speaking -writer) career. His Jupiter in Scorpio also points to involvement with the healing profession, and he started out as an endocrinologist before shifting his focus to alternative medicine.

The Sun and Jupiter are both in the 8th house in Deepak’s chart, along with a tight Mercury and Mars conjunction in Penetrating Scorpio, which is excellent for detecting and ferreting out information. A packed 8th house can give a shrewdness and focus on wanting to solve life’s deepest riddles and mysteries, as this house is associated with the subconscious, transformation, and experiences beyond the earth plane. Mercury conjunct Mars in Scorpio also indicates a mind that is very resourceful, as well as very private and secretive.

The 8th house is also the house of other people’s resources, and there can be special flair for helping others “to heal” and or helping others to manage their resources better, both materially and spiritually. Psychologists and psychiatrists, for instance, will often have planets here. Also, financial planners.  This house is also associated with surgery and medicine. Many surgeons will have a strong eighth house. Surgeons remove or reconfigure our physical bodies so that they may function better and or regenerate.

Deepak’s Venus, showing what he loves, is in Scholarly Sagittarius conjunct his ninth house of higher education and travel. Again, this placement underscores his passion for teaching and inspiring others, and he would also perhaps be attracted to females who are also educators or writers.  Idealistic Neptune in his seventh house of relationships can also make him want to always see the “best in others.”

A powerful Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Proud, Entertaining Leo on his sixth house cusp of employment and health, suggests a deep need to want to control his work environment versus being managed by others. Also it suggests that work could bring him into the spotlight (Leo).

Additionally, Pluto rules healing and transformation and located here with Saturn in the health house it gives a potential to be a healing agent for others, especially when taken into context with the rest of his horoscope, particularly the preponderance in Scorpio (Pluto’s sign) and four planets in the 8th house (Pluto’s natural house).

Pluto can even bring an obsession with work and health areas, as Pluto’s ray is so intense and focused wherever it is, especially when conjoined with Serious Saturn who also wants to be a formidable power in his own right. Pluto in the sixth can also make one feel that one has “a special mission in life” to perform.

Erratic, Rebellious Uranus in Gemini exactly conjunct his fourth house of the home and family suggests many moves in his lifetime and also indicates perhaps that he is a “rebel at heart,” as the fourth house also deals with our soul. Uranus likes to overturn the status quo so as to create a brand new order of things. It can be indicative of someone who is very humanistic and futuristic, if not eccentric.

COSMIC WEATHER:

The Emotional Moon continues in “Speed Demon” Aries. We’re all fueled up. Our motor’s running. We do need to keep a watchful eye out for the Highway Patrol, though, as “Law Officer” Mars is semi-square to “Ticket-Happy” Saturn (11:11 am EDT). (If we recklessly break rules now, there may be a price to pay!)

We also need to refrain from “over-indulgence” with Love Maven Venus in Sexy Scorpio sesquiquadrate to “Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love” Jupiter in “Fantasy-Prone” Pisces. Too much sex could additionally make vacuuming seem less than thrilling later on, and we certainly wouldn’t want that.

Activities spotlighted today: sports and physical activity, letting off steam, taking stands, involvement with the military, investigating passions, being a pioneer, breaking records, soaring to the top, vacuuming the interiors of race cars, purchasing checkered flags, donning “authoritative uniforms.”

Quote for the Day:

“It is often the failure who is the pioneer in new lands, new undertakings, and new forms of expression.” Eric Hoffer

In The News:

Venus in Scorpio “never forgets!”

On October 9, 2010, with “Love Goddess” Venus having just turned retrograde in “Sexually Obsessed” Scorpio and the Emotional Moon also passing through “Dark Moods” Scorpio, reportedly “Ginni Thomas,” the wife of Supreme Court Justice, Clarence Thomas, left a voice mail for Anita Hill imploring her to recant her account of Clarence’s alleged “sexual harassment” two decades earlier.

The sign of Scorpio rules the subconscious, those realms inside of us that are “submerged” or “hidden from view.” It is also characteristically known for “its venomous sting” (just like the real-life Scorpion) and stirring up “buried issues from the past.” (Scorpio symbolizes death and rebirth.)

Relationship Venus turning retrograde, too, is a time when we “revisit matters of the heart.”

Also on Wednesday, the new UK coalition govt announced massive spending cuts, the biggest in decades.  This announcement came with Pioneering Mars in “budget-minded” Scorpio (the sign associated with debt and collections) exactly trine Philosophical Jupiter in Social Programs Pisces. Mars trine Jupiter is a classic signature of “zealotry“ and “political and social activism,”  a time when we are extremely eager to go to bat for our beliefs and ideals, even to the point of fanaticism. Jupiter also rules politics.

Also relevant here: the North Node of the Moon (pointing to the future) is nearing a conjunction with Decimating and Controlling Pluto in Governmental Capricorn. Pluto likes to bulldoze existing structures and often does so with a vengeance.  Pluto, as a co-ruler of Scorpio, also signifies “debt-issues.”

Patricia’s Astrology: October 20, 1968 Jackie Kennedy Weds Aristotle

On This Date In History:

On October 20, 1968, former “First Lady” Jackie Kennedy weds wealthy Greek shipping magnate, Aristotle Onassis. Aristotle’s private island “Skorpios” in the Ionian Sea is the site for this historic event.

In Jackie’s and Aristotle’s “wedding chart” that day (time unknown for the service), Venus, the Goddess of Love and Marriage, was in Possessive Scorpio and in an “out-of-sign” sextile to Non-conforming Uranus in Marital Libra.  When Venus is aligned with Uranus we often see “unusual pairings” taking place.  Venus-Uranus is often “non-traditional” and tends to bring about alliances between very different kinds of persons.   When Frank Sinatra met Mia Farrow, for instance, he had Venus-Uranus prominent in his chart. Venus-Uranus craves excitement and embraces relationships that are “out of the norm.” Additionally, Paul McCartney met John Lennon when Venus-Uranus was exact in the heavens.  It can be an aspect of “sudden attraction.”

Interestingly, Jupiter, the traditional planet of “good fortune and abundance,” was also in a tight conjunction to Pluto. Pluto is associated with “mega-money,” especially when aligned with “lucky” and “expansive” Jupiter. Jupiter and Pluto were in Practical, Dutiful Virgo and harmonious to Sea-Faring Neptune in the sign of Joint Resources Scorpio (Aristotle’s wealth was from Neptunian-ruled shipping). It has been reported that a main reason Jackie married Aristotle was out of a need for privacy and security for her children, which would fit the practical, stabilizing Virgo-Scorpio energy.

Venus, at 29 degrees of Scorpio, was also separating from a Glamourizing, Idealistic conjunction with Neptune at 25 of Scorpio. With Venus-Neptune, there can be a lot of fantasy and make-believe at the core of the relationship, as Neptune is the ruler of our imagination and dreams. Venus-Neptune relationships are often hard to “see clearly,”  as Neptune characteristically looks at romance through “rose-colored glasses.” Venus-Neptune tends to “idolize the partner,” sees him or her as a “savior.” Venus-Neptune relationships can sometimes contain “martyrdom” elements to them as well, as Neptune often denotes ego-denying experiences.

Also, in Jackie’s case, Venus-Neptune literally symbolized a “romance involving aspects of the sea,” as Aristotle made his livelihood from the sea.

Venus additionally was at an “anaretic degree” of Scorpio (meaning the last degree of a sign), which can signal a “sense of urgency” to the relationship and romance. (Too, in a few years, Jackie would later end up a “widow,” with Scorpio the sign of “transition.”)

Jackie, who was a proud, charismatic Leo with a Private Scorpio rising and an Adventurous Aries Moon, also had in her personal horoscope then, Stabilizing Saturn transiting at 21 degrees of Libra exactly trine to her natal Venus at 21 degrees of Gemini. Venus also rules her 7th house of marriage.  With Venus-Saturn, we often forge relationships with older individuals (which Saturn denotes) and often these relationships are based on security needs. Venus not only rules relationships it also rules money. Saturn was also getting ready to move into Jackie’s twelfth house of seclusion, a period when we often seek a “personal retreat” from the outside world.

Aristotle, an Ambitious Capricorn with a Travel-Happy Sagittarius Moon, had transiting Jupiter and Pluto in Virgo exactly trine to his natal Venus in Capricorn in his horoscope when he married Jackie.  Venus-Pluto can represent a “transforming passion” in our lives, and it sometimes synonymous with “bringing us our soulmate.” (Pluto denotes past lives.)
