COSMIC WEATHER:

The Moon continues in Altruistic Aquarius, switching to Sympathetic Pisces later in the day (until 10:52 pm EDT). Excellent energies for immersing ourselves in group activities. Our creativity, psychic, and spiritual impulses are also accentuated with the Moon’s monthly conjunction to Imaginative Neptune, our symbolic link to the Divine (2:49 pm EDT).

Romance also gets the go ahead with the Moon’s harmonious aspects to the Illuminating Sun and Communicator Mercury in Relationship Libra.

What we want to watch out for today, however, is a tendency to “faulty judgment,” especially over-promising “more goods than we can deliver.” This is because of Mental Mercury’s powerful quinqunx aspect to Exaggerating Jupiter.  This is also a good time to watch our “word-count,” and to remember that “less is more,” lest we bore others with our “rambling speech.”

Today’s Quote For The Day:

“You must learn to be still in the midst of activity, and to be vibrantly alive in repose.” Indira Gandhi

On This Date In History:

On October 17, 1933, scientist, Albert Einstein, arrived in the United States as a refugee from Nazi Germany. The popular Venus and Mars Love Duo were tightly conjunct in Scholarly Sagittarius, the sign that rules long-distance travel.  Both Venus and Mars were also harmoniously sextile to Fortuitous, Protective Jupiter (the natural ruler of Sagittarius) in Diplomatic Libra. These energies could be interpreted as “a notable, popular academic” (Venus-Mars) seeking “opportunities abroad” (Jupiter and Sagittarius) in a more “peaceful atmosphere” (Libra).

There was also an exact, very potent Cardinal-T Cross activated in the sky that day involving the Sun in Libra, Uranus in Aries, and Pluto in Cancer. A Cardinal-T Cross usually tends to “force action” and especially with the outer planets involved, there was the opportunity then for action occurring that would be “significant for the collective” (Pluto rules the masses).

Pluto also rules control and tyranny, and Einstein was seeking to flee a dangerous and controlling environment that also put “his personal safety” at risk (Pluto does rule life and death issues).

It is interesting to note here, too, that Uranus, the ruler of scientific Aquarius, signifies “genius,” and it was deposited in the “new beginnings” sign of Aries. Uranus additionally represents the quest for “personal freedom.”

Transforming Pluto was in domestic-ruling Cancer (the U.S. is also a Cancer country), and the Life-Giving Sun was in peace-loving Libra.

English translation: “A genius embarks on a new personal beginning, makes a transformational residential change, in his bid to live in a more peaceful, safer environment, and enjoy a freer life. A personal move with major life-changing implications  (Uranus and Pluto) for the planet.”

Notable Deaths: Barbara Billingsley, who portrayed mom, “June Cleaver,” on the 1950s hit TV sitcom, “Leave It To Beaver,” died on Saturday at the age of 94.

Barbara, a Sagittarian, born December 22, 1915, had her Nurturing Moon in Cancer, the sign that denotes “Mother.” The Cancer Moon helped to make her a naturally sympathetic figure.

Her Moon was also conjunct both Pluto and Saturn.  Moon-Pluto can give one great “healing ability” (the rejuvenating nature of Pluto) and deep emotional insight.  Interestingly, Pluto, ruling “the masses,” can also make one famous, and Barbara would forever be remembered for her “Cancerian-Moon role” as “Wally and Beaver’s Mom.”

The Moon-Saturn aspect also gave her depth and seriousness, and no doubt, she probably took her role as a “Mom,” very seriously, in real life and on TV.  Barbara was a beautiful lady and will be greatly missed. (Below is a Youtube link to Leave It To Beaver.)

Patricia’s Astrology: I Love Lucy Debuts With Venus Conjunct Mars

On October 15, 1951, I Love Lucy, starring Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, William Frawley, and Vivian Vance, debuted on CBS-TV. I Love Lucy, an American comedy sitcom that centered around the lives of two married couples, aired for six seasons.  For most of its run, it was the most popular TV show in America, and it is still in syndication around the world.

When the show premiered, the Energizing Sun, Communicator Mercury and Fantasy Neptune were all conjunct in Marital Libra and also sextile to transforming Pluto in Leo, the sign of entertainment. A fourth planet, Stabilizer Saturn, was also in Libra, and exactly opposite Expansive Jupiter in Pioneering Aries.

With such a prevalence of planets in Libra, the timing was natural to launch a fictional TV show (Neptune) about married couples. The sextile aspect to Pluto also helped to give the show unique, mass appeal (which Pluto rules) and also made it something that could deeply impact the viewers, perhaps holding a mirror to their own marriages (Pluto’s ray tends to spawn deep insight). Pluto is also associated with “historic firsts” and the show helped to establish many precedents in television entertainment.

Also, for the I Love Lucy launch, the Love Duo of Venus and Mars, were tightly conjunct in Virgo, a sign with a penchant to please. (Even though Lucy was always “rocking the boat” at home, with her humorous, often oddball antics, she was also very anxious, in the end, to placate hubby Ricky.  The same was true for Ethel wanting to please Fred. I always dearly loved Ethel, didn’t you?  She seemed like a perfect “best friend” to have. The kind of friend who would never let you down. Ethel had simple charm, and was deeply sympathetic. Nothing inauthentic about her. Fred was also a nice, low-key guy. They may a good pair. Both were perfect complements to the much more animated Ricky and Lucy.)

When Venus, ruling our power of attraction, is conjoined Mars, it not only tends to make us more attractive to the opposite sex, it also puts the topic of romance front and center on the table. I Love Lucy took it all one step further and brought the topic directly into our living rooms. It was a “big thing” during that time era.

Additionally, the Mercury conjunction to Imaginative Neptune, with Mental Mercury ruling writing, is also an extremely creative aspect for generating mesmerizing, “make believe” story lines.  This is a classic “storyteller aspect.” Neptune also rules acting and all the characters in the show did a superb job in that department as well. The I Love Lucy episode below, when Lucy and Ethel both got jobs at a chocolate factory, is one of my all-time favorites. It’s still funny, no matter how many times you see it.

“Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?” George Carlin.

COSMIC WEATHER:

The Emotional Moon continues in “Irrepressible” Aries and is no longer “fettered” by the shackles of the “Cardinal T-Cross.” With the “Fiery, Risk-Taking” Aries Moon our spirits long for “rapid movement.” The thrill of “danger and adventure.”  We’re not just talking simply going home and vacuuming tonight, either. Many of us may want to go one step further and put our foot on the gas pedal and “speed toward our destiny” in fast cars. Aries symbolizes “speeding and racing.” Also, as a follow up to this, it rules sports cars.

Too, with the “Hot” Sun now in “Relationship” Libra and the “Love Duo” Venus and Mars, side by side in “Steamy” Scorpio, some of us may even want to do a little “riding around” looking for love, especially since the “Macho” Aries Moon also characteristically loves to later “brag about its conquests.” In particular, there’s one person up ahead of us, driving most erratically, in what appears to be a 1965 Ford Mustang, that looks very interesting to us. Let’s see if we can get them to “slow down,” for a moment, so we can “check them out.”

Have some fun today! Seek out adventure. Travel down some “new roads.” Go beyond your “usual borders.”

The Ford Mustang debuted on April 17, 1964 as a “whole new breed of car.” Mercury (ruling transportation) was stationing retrograde at 11 degrees of Taurus (Taurus rules possessions)  and exactly trining Transformational “Pluto” at 11 degrees of “I Love Detailing Work” Virgo. Pluto “passionately reforms” whatever it touches and aligned with Mercury, the “Transportation Guru,” we had a “whole new type of vehicle” to become “passionate” over.

Also helping out here, Sexy Mars (ruling speed and sports cars) was at home in “Trail-blazing” Aries, the sign that it rules, and Mars was tightly sextile to “Love Goddess” Venus (which also rules the “material things” that we love).  Additionally, Venus was in Mercury-ruled Gemini (governing transportation). “Mars sextile Venus” is the classic “signature aspect” of “falling in love,” and that’s exactly what happened with many of us with the debut of the Mustang: We immediately “fell in love” with it! A “love affair” that, for many of us, continues to this day.

Also at the time of  the debut, “Lucky” Jupiter was in “Possession” Taurus and exactly sextile to “Work Hard Enough and You Can Afford Nice Things!” Saturn in “Imaginative” Pisces. Jupiter-Saturn harmonious to each other is one of the best aspects we can have for “enduring business success,” as it gives a good blend of hard work and application (Saturn) with optimism and vision (Jupiter). Maybe another reason why the popularity of the Ford Mustang has endured over time.

“Someone to tell it to is one of the fundamental needs of human beings.” Miles Franklin

COSMIC WEATHER:

It’s the “Autumnal Equinox.” The “Illuminating” Sun vacates “Please, Just Let Me Vacuum One More Time Before I Go!” Virgo for “We Make Such A Lovely Couple, Don’t We?” Libra (11:09 pm EDT). Our focus goes from “tidying up the homestead,” “updating our job skills,” and “purifying our minds and bodies,” to wanting to “submerge ourselves” into the “belly of relationships,” “patch up our union difficulties,” and make a noble attempt at “world peace.” We’re also hoping to add more “beauty and pizazz” to the world by shopping furiously to update our wardrobes and praying that “Scrooge” Saturn doesn’t see the charge card statement when it arrives.

Meanwhile, the “Tender, Compassionate” Pisces Moon is tending to the last of her “prayer requests.” We may want to do likewise (Pisces rules our “link to the Divine”). Later, the Pisces Moon will be restocking the “oceanic bar” with a fresh, 30-day supply of liquor, which she fears may not be enough to last out the whole month now with “Always Thirsty” Jupiter back into Pisces “inebriated waters, “alongside that very “Erratic Drinker” Uranus. Jupiter conjoined Uranus in “drinking hole” Pisces can give a rich “fondness for alcohol” since Pisces rules liquor. Jupiter is also not known “for moderation,” especially when conjoined with Impulsive Uranus who also has difficulty “tempering his impulses.” If we normally have “problems holding our liquor” we may be well-advised to “leave it alone,” for awhile, particularly while this “potent aspect” is in operation.

Celebrity Birthday:

Italian singer Andrea Bocelli turns 52 today.  Andrea has both a “Perfectionist” Virgo Sun and Virgo Ascendant.  Also helping him to sing melodiously and “to perfection” are Soothing Venus (ruling the voice) and Mercury (ruling communication) both conjoined in Virgo and also tightly conjunct his Ascendant.  “Venus-Mercury” can make us popular and also gives us a way with words, as Venus rules our “power of attraction” and Mercury rules “speech.” We can “win others over” with our communication skills. Venus also rules all that is beautiful and Mercury helps Venus to articulate that beauty through language. Andrea takes all this, one step further, by masterfully marrying “words to music.” Andrea also has his Emotional Moon in Serious Capricorn conjunct his fifth house of personal creativity giving his feelings “depth and drama,” which serve him well in his interpretation of the music. Too, all his “Virgo energy” gives him vast ability to pay close attention to all those “little details” and “minor nuances” of a melody, so as to bring all of its inherent splendor to life with his ‘godlike voice.”
