Cosmic Weather:

“Relax. Your battle with the world is just a fiction in your head.” – Marty Rubin

Today is a good time for winding things down, in preparation of tomorrow’s New Moon in innovative Aquarius (4:04 pm). New Moons are always synonymous with brand new beginnings, appearing to mirror the death and rebirth phase of the Moon’s monthly cycle. The Moon also shifted from Capricorn into Aquarius this morning (8:03 am), setting the stage for tomorrow’s big event.

Intellectual Mercury is also in Aquarius today and it’s forming a sextile aspect to philosophical Jupiter in Sagittarius (4:55 pm). This is a very nice, mentally stimulating influence that tends to broaden our outlook and make us feel more optimistic. Our judgment may also be better. Conversations with others, in general, can be very inspiring and productive. We can also speak with a greater sense of personal conviction now as we’re, more than likely, channeling our own inner preacher-teacher! Of course, for some of us, if we’re not careful, the Mercury-Jupiter influence can easily morph into our doing copious amounts of bloviating or pontificating! Something, yours truly, happens to know a thing or two about! 🙂 Additionally, the Mercury-Jupiter aspect also favors publishing, writing, travel planning, and business negotiations.

Relationship Venus also exits carefree Sagittarius today for mature-minded Capricorn (5:30 pm), a venue in which the glorious Love Goddess is ready to hunker down and take things to the next level! Also, with Venus in Capricorn now, we’re likely to be much more selective with respect to letting anyone new into our inner circle, especially since we have less of an appetite for frivolity.

“So, I love you because the entire universe conspired to help me find you.” Paulo Coelho

*All times EST

This Day in History: On February 3, 1959, Buddy Holly (b. 9/7/36) was tragically killed in a plane crash, shortly after takeoff, near Clear Lake, Iowa. Holly is often described as the most influential of the early rock and roll musicians in the mid-1950’s. The death of Holly is also now commonly referred to as “the day the music died” after Don McLean immortalized the tragedy with his 1972 hit “American Pie.” (Wikipedia)

(In the sky on that fateful day, the Sun, the giver of life, was in the aviation-ruling sign of Aquarius and forming an exact opposition to unpredictable Uranus in Leo, the sign of entertainment. The planet Uranus symbolizes change and, on the shadow side, can sometimes trigger disruption or chaos in our lives, including accidents, when its energy is activated.)

That’ll Be The Day (Buddy Holly, Jerry Allison)

Well, that’ll be the day, when you say goodbye
Yes, that’ll be the day, when you make me cry
You say you’re gonna leave, you know it’s a lie
‘Cause that’ll be the day when I die…

“Without Elvis none of us could have made it.” Buddy Holly

Astrology July 3 2015, hippie, horoscope july 3 2015, Mercury sextile Jupiter, Moon in Aquarius, orator, preaching, publishing, quote of the day

Quietness 2

Cosmic Quote of the Day: “You can change your world by changing your words. Remember, death and life are in the power of the tongue.” Joel Osteen

Since words are free to use, so to speak, it seems that many of us are far too casual with how we employ them. Accordingly, we often overlook or fail to grasp their inherent life-changing potential. Oliver Wendell Holmes once said that we should speak clearly, if at all, carving every word before we let it fall; in other words, to be intentional in our speech.

Today’s Energy:

Communicator Mercury, which happens to govern our speech or words, sextiles philosophical Jupiter, the planet of opportunity and optimism, this evening (8:54 pm). This upbeat (“I can do it!”) influence has a general broadening impact upon our intellect, and poises us to want to look ahead and to think big. We are also more intent on wanting to get our message out before the world now, so that we can, hopefully, wield our irresistible sphere of influence. Archetypally, Mercury-Jupiter symbolizes “the orator” or “the preacher.” Also, “the persuader,””the politician,” and “the humorist.”

Mercury-Jupiter aspects are considered favorable for publishing, marketing and advertising, higher education, signing contracts, and general legal matters. They also are associated with international or multi-cultural relations.

The Moon also leaves utilitarian Capricorn for non-conforming Aquarius today (8:21 am), giving us a perfect chance to express our holed up, “inner hippie.” 🙂

*All times EDT.

astrology for november 1 2014, horoscope november 1 2014, Mars sextile Neptune, Mercury sextile Jupiter, Samhain 2014, Tim Cook comes out as gay, Venus sextile Pluto

“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right.” Henry Ford

COSMIC WATCH:

We have three big “sextile aspects” occurring, today. Sextiles are seen as “opportunity times”:

1) “Thinker” Mercury sextiles “optimistic” Jupiter – Mercury-Jupiter aspects are synonymous with “big thinking.” They also inspire us to want to share our thoughts and ideas with others, i.e. sometimes we become a bit “chatty Cathy.” We’re also inclined to see the glass, now, as “half-full.” Also, there’s a real thirst for knowledge and information. Mercury-Jupiter aspects are associated with teaching, publishing, public speaking, and travel, especially foreign travel which acquaints us with different cultures and customs.

2)“Social” Venus sextiles “transformational” Pluto – This serves to deepen our emotional expression within relationships. New light is also possibly shed on the way we relate to others. Also, this influence can be rehabilitative for relationships.

3) “Assertive” Mars sextiles “compassionate” Neptune – This motivates us to “put others first.” It’s an excellent aspect for mediation; or for putting into motion peace-keeping measures / overtures. Also, we have more energy (Mars) for creative pursuits (Neptune). Ideal for fashioning more creative approaches within our career (Mars in Capricorn). Also, good for dreamwork.

Question for Today: Who is the “biggest thinker” you know who inspires you?

Famous November 1 Birthdays: Jenny McCarthy, Fernando Valenzuela, Tim Cook, David Foster, Lyle Lovett

“You can focus on things that are barriers or you can focus on scaling the wall and redefining the problem.” Tim Cook, Apple CEO.

In the News: Tim Cook also made news, mid-week, when he came out as gay in an essay for Bloomberg Businessweek. In Cook’s natal horoscope, transiting Mars in Capricorn was exactly conjunct his natal Jupiter, this week – a time when we usually are more inclined to stand up for (Mars) our personal beliefs or philosophy (Jupiter). Cook also has “liberating” Uranus, the planet of equality and change, exactly trining his natal Venus in Sagittarius now. Uranus-Venus can be very “freeing” for matters of the heart.

Enjoy your Saturday! Samhain Blessings!

astrology for february 16 2012, daily horoscope, horoscope february 16 2012, Mercury sextile Jupiter, Moon in Sagittarius, optimism, philosophy of life, possibilities, Sonny Bono Margaux Hemingway John McEnroe birthday

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon spends one more day in “scholarly” Sagittarius and with intellectual Mercury forming a harmonious sextile aspect to “teacher” Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius, this is an excellent day to expand our knowledge of the world, including the realm of foreign cultures. We are also more inclined to want to write about or discuss with others what we have learned so far on our journey of life, particularly sharing our philosophy of life. Mercury-Jupiter is specifically linked with the publishing world, academia, philosophy and religion, the travel industry, matters of law, advertising and promotion, and is generally viewed by astrologers as more favorable for contracts and agreements due to the abundant and protective nature of Jupiter.

Too, if we have been harboring a more pessimistic view of things in a certain area of our lives, we may want to revisit that area today and see if we can approach it now with a more positive or optimistic mindset, as Mercury-Jupiter is an excellent aspect for allowing us to see possibilities where maybe before we were unable to envision them.  Also, today would be an ideal day to make a vision board regarding our future intentions for ourselves. “The future is simply infinite possibility waiting to happen. What it waits on is human imagination to crystallize its possibility.” Leland Kaiser

“Nothing that I can do will change the structure of the universe. But maybe, by raising my voice I can help the greatest of all causes – goodwill among men and peace on earth.” Albert Einstein

COSMIC WEATHER:

Our mental outlook brightens. A warm ray of sunshine permeates our thoughts. This is because thinker Mercury is aligned (via the sextile aspect) with benevolent, optimistic Jupiter. A wonderful day to spread around some goodwill, or to serve up fab words of encouragement. We may also want to read books on philosophy or religion.  Or, make travel arrangements. Jupiter’s ray impinging upon us inclines us to want to broaden our horizons, literally and symbolically. Too, Mercury-Jupiter can make us a bit more chatty. This same aspect also enables us to be able to see more of the humor in situations.

The goddess Moon is additionally still sequestered in mystical, compassionate, “Why can’t we all just get along?” Pisces. Meditation and going within replenishes us now.

Creation of Triple A Motor Club, daily astrology, John F Kennedy equal pay for equal work for men and women, Mars in Virgo, Mercury enters Gemini, Mercury sextile Jupiter, Mercury sextile Uranus

Cosmic Watch:

“Thought Keeper” Mercury flits into curious Gemini this afternoon (1:41 am), the communication sign that it proudly rules. Mercury in Gemini ideally elevates our curiosity, accelerates our thinking, and makes us ravenous for information and conversation.

We also have an opportunity for colossal discoveries and the possibility of new inventions now as this Winged Creature will be connecting with both expansive Jupiter and futuristic Uranus via the stimulating sextile aspect.

Astrology Trivia: Triple A Motor Club, the travel-related entity which helps customers with tow service for vehicles when they are on the road, was formed on a day when travel-ruling Mercury was sextile to brain-storming Uranus!

*All time EDT

On This Day in History: President John F. Kennedy signs into law “equal pay for equal work” for men and women on June 10, 1963.

Astrologically, pioneering Mars was in Virgo, the sign of work, conjunct Uranus, the planet often associated with issues of equality. Mars conjunct Uranus, among other things, potentially instills a desire to improve the status quo especially how things are done in the workplace.

Astrology June 1, 2010: Moon Conjuncts Uranus, CNN’s Debut

“To invent, you need a good imagination and a pile of junk.” – Thomas Edison (Aquarian)

Cosmic Watch:

The Moon ventures into innovative Aquarius (1:08 am) and aligns with futuristic Uranus in Aries, shortly thereafter.  We’re potentially more inclined to want to break some Saturnian rules today and stretch beyond our current limits as towing the status quo is of far less consequence to us now.  We are poised to change things up and make some waves!

On This Day in History:

Speaking of waves, it was thirty years ago today – June 1, 1980 -that Ted Turner’s CNN hit the airwaves.

At the time of the debut, the Sun (the core of the enterprise) was in newsmaker Gemini, which rules news reporting and information-gathering). The Sun was also in an exact square to pioneering Mars in analytical Virgo.

Sun-Mars days typically usher in new beginnings. The Sun-Mars energy also gives a sense of urgency and adventure, along with a desire to want to go and be where the action (Mars) is. Mars rules the pioneering urge.

Gemini’s planetary ruler, Mercury, which governs speech and communication, was also exactly sextile to abundant Jupiter, the planet of opportunity and expansion.  With Mercury-Jupiter, there would likely never be a loss for words or things to report on for CNN

When CNN launched, expansive Jupiter was in Virgo, along with Mars and Saturn.  Virgo is perfect for in-depth news analysis, as this sign is all about dissecting the facts and information that Gemini has collected.  The descriptive keyword for Virgo is “analysis.”

In the physical body, Virgo rules the intestines, the part of the body that breaks down food particles so that they may be digested.

Practical, stabilizing Saturn was also in a supportive sextile to inventive Uranus in transforming Scorpio.  Uranus rules television broadcasting.  Saturn here provided firm footing for the new Uranian venture. Ideally, we want to have positive Saturn aspects, as Saturn gives longevity and worldly success.

Additionally, Saturn was exactly square to Neptune in Sagittarius, the sign of long-distance travel and faraway lands.  Neptune rules images and television cameras. CNN became a pioneering platform for broadcasting news images from around the world.

From the beginning, CNN also helped build and fostered a sense of Neptunian oneness.  Neptune is all about dissolving the borders that separate us, both personally and collectively. With CNN, we were finally able to see and hear about what was going on around the world and I think that made us feel more connected in our humanity.

Astrology April 16, 2010: Saturn/Uranus – New Same-Sex Hospital Rules

daily astrology, healthcare, hospitals, Jupiter in Pisces, love relationships, Mercury conjunct Venus, Mercury in Taurus, Mercury sextile Jupiter, President Obama changes same sex hospital rules, same sex issues, Saturn in Virgo, Saturn in Virgo opposite Uranus in Pisces, Venus in Taurus, Venus sextile Jupiter

President Obama ordered new rules Thursday allowing for “same sex hospital visits.”  The new regulations give gays and lesbians the right to visit their partners in the hospital and have input into their care.  This marriage benefit has been something that has not always been extended to gay couples.

“Gay and lesbian Americans…are often barred from the bedsides of the partners with whom they may have spent decades of their lives-unable to be there for the person they love, and unable to act as a legal surrogate if their partner is incapacitated,” Mr. Obama said in his order according to the online Wall Street Journal.

These new rules come on the heels of Saturn’s retrograde back into the sign of Virgo (Virgo rules health) and its opposition to change-agent Uranus in Pisces (Pisces rules hospitals).  Saturn pertains to rules and established protocol while oppositions potentially bring about “turning points.”

Questioning Uranus is thought to characteristically attempt to overturn the structure that Saturn has erected, especially when that structure has the effect of “stifling or repressing” individual self-expression.

In this instance, Uranus in Pisces seemingly serving as a catalyst for changing the rules (Saturn) that hospitals (Pisces) have traditionally followed, regarding the dissemination of health care services (Virgo).  Uranus in Pisces potentially triggering the need for new policy with a wider application among a diverse population group. The present Saturn opposition to Uranus formally “finalized” this policy change.

Additionally supportive for the implementation of these new rules: Venus, which rules love relationships, and Mercury, which governs thinking, are conjoined now in practical, workable Taurus. Both planets are also harmoniously sextile to expansive Jupiter in Pisces, the sign of hospitals. Venus aligned with Jupiter is traditionally regarded as one of the “luckiest aspects” in astrology, bringing about favorable conditions and circumstances.  So, on the surface, this would seem to be an especially good time (Jupiter) to usher in new guidelines (Mercury) pertaining to “intimate couples” (Venus). Jupiter’s ray is such that it tends to have a broadening or growth effect on the areas or activities that are ruled by the sign that it is passing through.  Jupiter intrinsically represents and fosters new growth opportunities and generally coincides with a more optimistic outlook.
