The Sun conjuncts Venus in Aries (2:58 am): Puts us more in line with our heart’s desires. Bestows a greater ability/finesse to attract what we want. We also move more quickly, ardently to pursue personal objectives or to act in our own self-interest.

Mars conjuncts the North Node in Gemini (11:34 am): This conjunction is a very nice, supportive tie-in to the Sun-Venus energy as it fosters an eagerness to forge ahead, to embrace the unknown. To meet our destiny!

The Waxing Moon is also spending its first full day in corrective Virgo. Admonishing us to refine our processes/methodologies.

Moon trines Uranus in Taurus (2:16 pm): Sets the stage for some lightbulb moments. Facilitates our inventiveness.

Moon square Mars (10:16 pm): Moods and restlessness are intensified.

Numerologically, March 26, 2021, is a “7” and “8” day. Vision and idealism are coupled with determination and a strong drive for success.

On This Day in History: On March 26, 1953, Dr. Jonas Salk announces that he has successfully tested a vaccine to prevent polio, clinical trials began the next year.

Astrologically, that day, propitious Jupiter was in stabilizing Taurus and forming an exact trine to wounded healer Chiron in utilitarian Capricorn. Earth trines are opportunities to bring things into manifestation. Newsmaker Mercury Rx in Pisces was also involved here: It was sextile to both Jupiter and Chiron and conjunct the Jupiter/Chiron midpoint.

With Waxing Luna still in playful Leo, this morning, and forming an opposition to expansive Jupiter, in eccentric Aquarius (9:27 am), it may be more challenging to dial things back. Also, easier to overpromise.

Mars in Gemini also sextiles Ceres in Aries (11:32 am), motivating us to take action to safeguard or protect what’s most important. (Home and family interests could be key here.)

The Moon will also enter fastidious Virgo, late tonight (11:25 pm). An excellent period for organizing our affairs, detoxing and refining our routines.

Numerologically, March 25, 2021, is a “6” and “7” day. Caretaking or nurturing is supported and highlighted. Intuition is also facilitated as we seek to ponder the deeper meaning of things.

On This Day in History: On March 25, 1969, newlyweds John Lennon and Yoko Ono stage their first “bed-in” for peace in Amsterdam, as the Vietnam War raged on that year.

Astrologically, that day, philosophical Jupiter and unconventional Uranus were conjunct in peace-loving Libra. Libra’s ruler, relationship Venus, was also exactly conjunct dutiful Saturn in war-ruling Aries.

As Yoko Ono later said to a reporter (in March of 2016), “We thought that Amsterdam was a very important place to do it because it has a very fresh and alive interest. And we’re thinking that, instead of going out and fight and make war or something like that, we should just stay in bed: Everybody should just stay in bed and enjoy the spring.”

With the Waxing Moon ensconced in commanding Leo, the sign of the lion, this is a natural time of the month for us to go about expressing our courage, creativity, and self-confidence.

An early morning lunar trine to the pioneering Aries Sun (12:54 am) also primes us for adventure or risk-taking. This is also excellent for any cooperative venture.

Luna’s square to erratic Uranus in Taurus (9:45 am) may find us temporarily more concerned with self-preservation, money, and or security matters. While we may want to embrace our personal freedom and self-expression, we are also possibly concerned about upending some of our stability, in the process. Incorporating a bit of flexibility into our outlook, however, can be the key to our getting ahead now and also a positive way for us to enjoy even more personal growth and well-being in the future as we are able to discover that there are often more choices available to us then we are sometimes able to grasp or perceive in any given moment. All we have to do is be willing to ferret them out.

The Leo Moon’s opposition to cautious Saturn in collective-ruling Aquarius (1:38 pm) could find us wanting to pull back a bit from relationships/social interactions. It can also sensitize us more to other people’s remarks, particularly to criticism. Revisiting the past may also be tempting now and constructive, especially if we are able to find a way to capitalize on lessons learned.

Luna will also sextile Mars in versatile Gemini today (4:08 pm). This is excellent emotional energy for connecting us with our passions and talents. A wider array of opportunities may also suddenly appear on the horizon as we open ourselves to new ideas or ways of thinking.

On This Day in History: On March 24, 1853, the anti-slavery newspaper “The Provincial Freeman” was first published in Windsor, Ontario, edited by Samuel Ringgold Ward and Mary Ann Shadd, the first Black woman newspaper publisher in North America and Canada’s first female publisher. It was the second newspaper in Canada to present the views and concerns of the Black community. The paper’s final issue was published on September 20, 1857.

Astrologically, on March 24, 1853, compassionate Neptune in unifying Pisces was exactly sextile to wounded healer Chiron in more traditionally-minded Capricorn. Transforming Pluto was also at 0 degrees of values-minded Taurus (a critical degree). Writer Mercury was also in trailblazing Aries and applying to an exact trine to philosophical Jupiter, the planet which governs publishing. Some mental restlessness, edginess, and impulsivity are possible as thinker Mercury, in transcendental Pisces, squares off with assertive Mars in curious Gemini (at 11:26 pm). This aspect typically denotes a more forceful, expressive (and possibly more argumentative) time for communications. It can also signify an avid thirst for learning or knowledge. However, some facts, data, or information could also be missing, confusing, or perhaps just too vague to understand or figure out now (Mercury in Pisces), so we may want to put off any important decision-making, until more is known. On This Day in History: It was one year ago today, March 23, 2020, that the terrifying free fall for the U.S. stock market suddenly ended, ushering in one of its greatest runs. On March 23, 2020, the S&P 500 fell 2.9%. In all, the index dropped nearly 34% in about a month, wiping out three years’ worth of gains for the market. That turned out to be the bottom, even though the coronavirus pandemic worsened in the ensuing months and the economy sank deeper into recession. Massive amounts of support for the economy from the Federal Reserve and Congress limited how far stocks would fall. The market recovered all its losses by August. (From apnews.com)

Astrologically, on March 23, 2020, warrior Mars and transformational Pluto (in the business/government ruling sign of Capricorn) were exactly conjunct (to the minute!), that day, suggesting a period of symbolic death/destruction/implosion to be followed by a new rebirthing phase (conjunctions signify new beginnings). Too, Saturn “The Tester” (and the planetary ruler of Capricorn) had also just entered futuristic Aquarius, at zero degrees of the sign (a critical position).

The Waxing Moon wraps up her hectic stay in Aries, late tonight. But well before she does that, she will square forceful Pluto in dutiful Capricorn (1:32 pm), an alignment that tends to more fully enlist our passions, as well as endow us with a greater sense of urgency of what needs to be done. On the plus side, this is potentially excellent energy for giving a final push to something. On the shadow side, it can sometimes correlate with sudden power grabs/compulsively acting out our emotions. Fortunately, Luna will sextile the detached Aquarian Sun, early this evening (7:17 pm), which is also likely a chance for us to hit the equilibrium reset button if need be. Ideally, this is also a very nice, supportive aspect for fostering a lively synergy with others. The Aries Moon will go void, after this sextile, entering calming, earthy Taurus at 10:12 pm.

Luna kicks off our Monday in restless, enterprising Aries, perhaps inspiring us to take swift action on matters that (ideally) net immediate results. The Aries Moon is typically best for attending to short-term projects. With Luna also entering her Waxing Crescent Phase, mid-morning (10:40 am), the path toward illumination is really just beginning to build, so this is not the best time for massive leaps forward but rather for focusing on taking smaller action steps that can help to foster more faith and positivity in our capabilities over time. (Too, Mercury is still retrograde!)

There’s also an opportunity for empowering collaboration or networking with others on shared goals/shared purposes as the energetic Aries Moon forms several sextiles to a stellium of planets in collective-ruling Aquarius, including harmonizing Venus, which is also trining the futuristic North Node in Gemini (12:09 am). Too, it’s possible with the Venus-North Node alignment that certain people could appear on our path today who are very pivotal/instrumental to our future.

It was created by three individuals working at Paypal (Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawad Karim). The company’s original (more humble) headquarters was above a pizzeria and Japanese restaurant in San Mateo, California. In November of 2006, Google bought YouTube for a reported 1.6 billion dollars. Astrologically, when YouTube launched, artistic Venus and imaginative Neptune were exactly conjunct in tech-ruling, digitally-minded Aquarius (at 15 degrees), potentially boding well for brand new creative endeavors. Enterprising Mars was also in entrepreneurial Capricorn and exactly sextile to Uranus in Pisces, an aspect favoring new approaches or innovative strategies.

Mercury Rx conjuncts Jupiter in Aquarius (4:40 pm). There’s more of a flair or capacity for big-picture thinking, generating innovative ideas, or stretching our perspectives now (even if some things might need to be revised later). Mercury/Jupiter typically represents the “glass is half full” mindset, which can actually help to shift things around for us in a positive way by harnessing the brain’s power of expectation.

The Waxing Moon also rockets into “start-me-up” Aries (10:54 am). We are naturally primed now for new beginnings and endeavors that require self-assertion or taking personal initiative.

Numerologically, it’s a “5” and “3” day, suggesting there’s a plethora of curiosity and creativity circulating around. Also, an element of playfulness.

On This Day in History: On February 14, 1967, Aretha Franklin recorded “Respect” (Billboard Song of the Year 1967).

“Respect” is a song originally released by American singer-songwriter Otis Redding in 1965. The song became a signature hit for Aretha Franklin in 1967. The music in the two versions is significantly different. Redding’s version is a plea from a desperate man, who will give his woman anything she wants. He won’t care if she does him wrong, as long as he gets his due respect when he brings money home. However, Franklin’s version is a declaration from a strong, confident woman, who knows that she has everything her man wants. She never does him wrong, and demands his “respect”. Franklin’s version adds the “R-E-S-P-E-C-T” chorus and the backup singers’ refrain of “Sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me…”. Astrologically, when Franklin recorded “Respect” on 2/14/67, romantic Venus, in dreamy Pisces, was exactly opposing transformational Pluto in corrective Virgo. Venus-Pluto oppositions can often intensify our feelings and emotions in our relationships as well as spotlight any imbalances of power within this realm.  We may also feel a real need to “clear the air,” at this time, in a bid to get our love life back on track.

As we strive to somehow deftly situate ourselves in the mystifying labyrinth of yet another new year, it appears we are being tossed a few friendly assists from the cosmic powers-that-be today:

Mercury in Capricorn trines Vesta in Virgo (9:44 am). This can really help to focus our thoughts. It’s excellent for putting the finishing touches on projects.

Sun in Capricorn sextile Ceres in Pisces (12:08 pm). This more soothing influence ideally positions us to channel our angels or to show genuine nurturing or support to others. It can also be a good time to scrutinize our diets or the foods that we put into our bodies. (Ceres governs food, agriculture, and Motherhood.)

Mars in Aries is also (finally) moving out of its post-retrograde shadow today. An opportunity for us to venture forward into new territory. The Waning Moon in Leo is also trining Mars, this afternoon (5:00 pm). An excellent period for taking initiative, standing up for ourselves, or being physically active.

Numerologically, we have a “2” and “8” day before us. Ideally, we are more collaborative now and have more of a knack for balancing things out.

On This Day in History: On January 2, 1960, Senator John F. Kennedy of Massachusetts announces his candidacy for the US Presidency.

Astrologically, optimistic Jupiter and assertive Mars were conjunct in aspirational Sagittarius. An aspect that routinely exudes incredible exuberance and self-confidence in us. This influence can also motivate us to want to truly better the world in some way, usually, by acting upon our personal vision for the world (Sagittarius also rules politics and politicians). Both Mars and Jupiter were also trine reformer Uranus in charismatic Leo. The Sun, the giver of life, was additionally conjunct Karma Lord Saturn in professionally ambitious Capricorn. An alignment that tends to make us take our duties and responsibilities, very seriously. There is more gravity to our sense of purpose.

Perhaps fittingly, the first planetary aspect of 2021 is a hopeful sextile from Mercury in pragmatic Capricorn to Neptune in idealistic Pisces (6:18 am). A lovely, more subtle influence that can inspire us to imagine a better year ahead.

Another thing that is very cool about this energy is that it can often heighten our psychic or intuitive impressions, or help us to contact higher planes of consciousness. Additionally, it can make us more sympathetic or caring.

Waning Luna is also in entertainment Leo today. Doing what we enjoy brings us a lot of pleasure now. It is also a great way to recharge our spirit.

Numerologically, we are dealing with both a “one” and “seven” day. Very positive for new beginnings and for seeking a deeper meaning or higher purpose to our lives.

On This Day in History: On January 1, 1818, the first edition of the novel “Frankenstein (or “The Modern Prometheus”) by English author Mary Shelley was published anonymously in London and became an instant bestseller. The book is a combination of Gothic horror and science fiction. It tells the story of Victor Frankenstein, a Swiss student of natural science who creates an artificial man from pieces of corpses and brings his creature to life. (wikipedia.org)

Astrologically, on the day of its publication, there was a stellium of planets conjunct in futuristic, scholarly Sagittarius (Uranus, Venus, Neptune, and Jupiter), the sign which governs publishing. That planetary lineup was also square to transformational Pluto, the signifier of life, death, and rebirth. “Frankenstein” is considered by many to be the prototype of the science fiction novel.

This morning we are focused on home, family, and seeking out comfort or the familiar as the Waning Moon wraps up her stay in nurturing Cancer.

Love planet Venus also conjuncts the South Node in Sagittarius (9:15 am). The South Node represents our karmic past, or what we are moving away from. While this aspect can place our attention on old friendships or attachments, it may also provide us with insight regarding what ties or alignments we may need to let go of as we seek to grow and evolve in the new year. Additionally, it could shed light on what beliefs, ideologies, or values we perhaps need to discard or update as a result of what we learned or experienced in 2020. Author Jennifer Crusie also points out that values aren’t buses. “They’re not supposed to get you anywhere. They’re supposed to define who you are.” 

The second half of the day – and for New Year’s Eve – Luna shifts into fun-loving Leo (1:57 pm). This Moon placement is typically a boon for creative outlets of all kinds.

Numerologically, the 31st of the month is associated with a love of beauty, practicality, and finesse with managing or organizing.

On This Day in History: President Harry S. Truman officially signs Presidential Proclamation 2714 on December 31, 1946, officially declaring the cessation of all hostilities in World War II.

Even though the actual combat of the war ended May 8, 1945, in Europe and September 2, 1945, in the Pacific, the state of war was not lifted off of Japan and Germany in order to give a reason for the necessity of occupation troops in these countries. Once the War Crimes Trials were over, the hostilities were seen as over.

The signing of Proclamation 2714 is the reason why the U.S. recognizes its World War II veterans as anyone who has served between the dates of December 7, 1941, and December 31, 1946. (Wikipedia.com)

Interestingly, when President Truman (also the Commander in Chief) signed Proclamation 2714 on December 31, 1946, astrologically in the sky, that day, the Sun (representing those in power) and Mars (governing war and the military) were both conjunct in Capricorn (the sign of government) at 9 and 10 degrees, respectively. Both were also square to dissolving Neptune, which was at 10 degrees of diplomatic Libra. Transpersonal, unifying Neptune is often a key astrological factor in peace treaties or matters pertaining to ending hostilities. Mars-Neptune generally symbolizes or suggests the termination of conflict. Mars when placed in Saturn-ruled Capricorn can also be a restraining force for outward aggression. The Sun-Mars conjunction is additionally often a very powerful aspect, even though it is of short duration because it usually coincides with significant new beginnings or advancements.
