Astrology November 25, 2019: Venus in Capricorn, Balsamic Moon in Scorpio

Cosmic Weather:

The big cosmic headline for today is Venus’s shift from “footloose and fancy-free” Sagittarius to “I take great pride in balancing my checkbook” Capricorn, which officially occurs, this evening (7:28 pm).

Venus, named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty, symbolically governs our relationships, our social life, and our values. Venus sheds light on what we enjoy or look forward to. Also, Venus’s placement by sign is thought to reflect or shape our attitudes towards money and possessions.

Too, it used to be that Venus was the brightest planet in the night sky. But all that likely changes, as of tonight, as probably the first thing she’ll do when she flits into frugal Capricorn will be to turn on the dimmer switch! 🙂

Generally, Venus in Saturn-ruled Cappie is all about conserving or using our resources wisely. Abiding by the traditional or the time-tested.

Because Capricorn also rules career, status, and reputation, there’s also potentially a greater appreciation or affinity now for those persons who can help us to ascend the corporate ladder.

Venus will remain in Capricorn until December 20th.

The Moon is also in its Balsamic phase in eliminating Scorpio, all day, in preparation for tomorrow’s New Moon in Sagittarius. So today is excellent for releasing or letting go. It’s also a great time for reflecting upon the past and for setting our New Moon intentions.

Numerologically, today is also a “7” day (the 25th reduces down to 2+5, which equals 7). The number seven is thought to have a more intuitive or mystical orientation to it. Too, the Holy Spirit is supposedly quoted 25 times in the Gospels.

It’s sort of like we’re being treated to a heavenly (or dubious?) “double-header” today!

First, we have sweet Venus conjunct “Cosmic Santa” Jupiter in blue, sunshiny skies Sagittarius (8:33 am), typically an aspect associated with abundance and blessings, and having more of what we want or desire.

Then, in the second go-round, we have double-daring Mars in fearless Scorpio opposing “wild-child” Uranus in “own it till you drop” Taurus (11:50 am). Kinda like we suddenly choose to depart from a cozy path of riches or lavishness, with all the super cool celebratory partying, and stellar romance with attractive hunks – the whole nine yards – to goofily challenge ourselves to abruptly perform the equivalent of a frickin’ high-wire act without a safety net! All in part, because we “existentially” may have a burning need now to free ourselves from the assorted rat traps we’ve managed to mindlessly create for ourselves, over time. Really hard to know what the gods were thinking with this one! Anyway, hopefully, it will all have a happy ending and we’ll finally get our prince. 🙂

The Sun’s annual sojourn into plotting, secretive Scorpio comes to an official end, this morning (9:59 am), when it gallops into bright-eyed Sagittarius, the sign of The Archer, for the next thirty days. The Sun, symbolizing our ego and the basic urge to be, is very hopeful and futuristic in Sadge, meaning, in part, we’re now wanting to include as much of the world, as possible, into our groovy, wacky, earth plane laden existence.

Sagittarius season is normally a wonderful time of the year for learning, higher education, higher understanding, traveling, seeking out adventure, immersing ourselves into other cultures or belief systems, pitching or spinning our own impressive philosophical theories before all or anyone who will listen.

Forging ahead may be more of a challenge today as elements of our past seem to want to continue to surface or infiltrate our lives, effectively acting as a temporary check or brake on our behavior – and this could actually end up being a good thing for us. Assertive Mars in Scorpio, the zodiacal sign associated with interior work and investigation, is quinqunx Chiron in self-expressive Aries (2:30 pm), tending to invoke or dredge up old vulnerabilities, or other personal issues, ideally, for the purpose of further psychological processing or reflection. Of course, too, it’s only when we’re willing to face or acknowledge our fears that we’re then finally able to move on to the next stage of our development.

The illuminating Sun is also spending its last full day in probing Scorpio, suggesting, once again, a focused need to closely evaluate or examine all that has been excavated, in totality, during this whole Scorpio season. Of course, Mercury, in direct motion now in Scorpio, is also still presenting us with the need to keep integrating what we have most recently learned or been made aware so that we can go ahead and act upon these revelations, once Mercury gets up to speed again.

The waning Last Quarter Moon also continues in the sign of harvesting, digesting Virgo, for almost the entire day, indicating that we do have a special ability or finesse now at being able to gather up almost everything we need to close or phase out whatever needs to be completed.

Mercury is finally stationing direct (at 2:11 pm) today, after, what seems, for many of us, to have been an exceptionally long, 3-week retrograde period in intense, crisis-laden Scorpio, the sign of transformation/turning points.

Mercury, which governs our thinking/thought processes, communication, and learning, as well as travel and transportation, is going direct at 11 degrees of Scorpio (it will remain in its shadow phase until December 7th).

Too, a note of caution here: even though Mercury is turning direct, we’re still not quite out of the tunnel yet!  We really need to give the Winged Messenger, at least a few more days, to get re-oriented again (in its direct motion), before moving forward with our plans, or making any major decisions.

Generally, this is because, whenever a planet stations, a symbolic spotlight is put on the functions of that planet, and all that extra attention or fanfare can make it harder for us to get a clearer, or more objective handle, on the things associated with that heavenly body.

So, for example, with intellectual Mercury involved here, it’s possible that our thinking or ideas could be a bit skewed, in some way, now. Or, for instance, we also may have a more difficult time turning off our thoughts today – or possibly we may be overthinking things – especially in obsessive, one-track-minded Scorpio! 

Too, turning inward and meditating today – connecting with that well of inner stillness – can be a positive and very good way to ground or balance us now, so we feel more of a sense of inner peace or knowingness, our inner wisdom. Journaling might also be a very good thing to do, as a way of capturing what may have come up for us, during Mercury’s retrograde phase, or all that is coming up for us now, in the way of insights, ideas, messages from the deeper, or more intuitive levels, of our being.

We also have motivator Mars, the planet of assertion (in its first full day in its home turf of Scorpio), involved in a minor aspect (sesquiquadrate) with foggy Neptune in Pisces, which can be, on the shadow side, mildly disorienting, in the sense that it may sort of make us feel that it’s harder for us to act upon (Mars) our dreams (Neptune) effectively now, possibly because the path to realizing them just doesn’t appear all that clear, or really feel right to us (also a sign not to act upon them now!)

Another possibility is we could, perhaps, feel immersed in a dream or fantasy that we just don’t want to let go of, for whatever reason. Or, it could be that we also have a nocturnal dream now that is very powerful for us, in some way, on an emotional level, that may also be wise for us to reflect upon, as it could be that this dream is offering us a special kind of guidance for our lives. A lot of times, dreams are important harbingers or indicators of our future.

Too, nurturing Luna is in tinkering Virgo, an earth sign, all day, so becoming involved in tangible activities that allow us to feel purposeful or useful, or that help us to maybe perfect a craft or a skill, can be very supportive or rejuvenating for us now. Included here, we may also want to spend some time tidying or straightening up our households. Sometimes, just organizing/decluttering the space around us can go a long way in making us feel more in control, more in charge, of our personal worlds.

Activating Mars, which could be thought of as the kind of fuel we run on, enters “premium-grade” Scorpio, this morning (at 2:40 am), where it will remain until early January. In ancient times, Mars was deemed the ruler of Scorpio, but now, it’s considered to be a co-ruler of the sign, along with Pluto. So Mars in Scorpio is quite at home here, unlike when it was in appeasing Libra, a placement which was considered to be in its detriment for Mars, as Libra is opposite Mars-ruled Aries.

In Scorpio, Mars has tremendous staying power or resolve and doesn’t shy away from uncomfortable situations. In fact, Mars in Scorpio tends to embrace more difficult or complex scenarios because it has a natural affinity for whatever is hidden or swept under the rug. So, Mars in focused Scorpio can, potentially, really help us to achieve greater self-awareness or transformation, to help us become clearer regarding our subconscious motivations, or what it is that is driving us, as well as shed light on issues outside of ourselves that we are up to exploring or investigating. It’s like we won’t stop or rest now until we have found exactly what we want or need. Of course, we will also want to check out what house in our natal chart that Mars in Scorpio is moving through as that is the area or sphere of life where we will directly be channeling this energy.

Mars in Scorpio should also be a positive accompaniment for analytical Mercury Rx in Scorpio, which is stationing direct, tomorrow; Mars, hopefully, astutely assisting Mercury now in piecing together and applying to our lives, all the information, insights, and shrewd observations that Mercury has been drudging up in secretive Scorpio since it turned retrograde, on October 31st.

The outgoing Leo Moon is also in its Third Quarter today, squaring the probing Scorpio Sun (at 4:10 pm), at 27 degrees. With the Moon in this phase, we want to focus on wrapping things up versus starting anything new (the new stuff is for next week’s New Moon in Sagittarius). It could be, too, that the square aspect today makes us aware of some issues going on behind the scenes, or below the surface, that may cause us to question or ponder our need for dominance or control.

With Mars at the very end of social and balancing Libra (at the anaretic, 29th-degree mark), there can be a sense of urgency, now, to take some last-minute action on a matter, in a bid to push it through. While this sort of activity is not necessarily good or bad, in and of itself, it may be wise to first consider what our long-term objectives and values are, and how they figure into the big picture before acting. Generally, with energizing Mars, we always want to be mindful of behaving too impulsively.

On the other hand, an anaretic Mars can also endow us with an extra element of bravado or courage to take risks that can ultimately be important or key for our self-development. Last night, for instance, I agreed to take on a social-type project that I had been thinking about doing for a while, but just hadn’t gotten around to it. Also, had I not stepped up to the plate, when I did, the window of opportunity for me to get involved in this thing, would have been closed – typical of the energy of the 29th degree.

The Moon is also in flashy Leo, today, and squaring retrograde Mercury in focused Scorpio (1:53 pm), suggesting we may be mentally grappling with a personal need for extra attention or appreciation. Analytical Mercury Rx is also forming a semi-square to bloated Jupiter in Sagittarius (2:27 pm), cautioning us not to be too dismissive of the details.

(Full Moon in Taurus at 19 degrees 51 minutes of Taurus)

We have a Full Moon in placid, sustaining Taurus, this morning (8:34 am), always a perfect time to slow down, catch our breath, tune into the ages-old, supportive wisdom of our bodies, interact with Mother Nature. The sign of Taurus governs or symbolizes our feelings of abundance, security, our values. It’s basically linked to what we love, and how we like to spend our time.

The “keeping it simple” Moon in Taurus is also a natural counter to the more “multi-layered, crisis-oriented” Sun in Scorpio. Today’s lunation is about balancing and integrating both of these opposing energies within us. There may also be more of a preoccupation now with solidifying our sense of emotional security, especially in the context of home and family. We may also be balancing out, or specifying, “what is mine” and “what is yours”, on a practical level, in partnerships, as well as distinguishing what it is that we wish to “share together.”

Full Moons also tend to bring matters to a climax, or fruition. What was begun at the New Moon in investigative Scorpio, a couple weeks ago, is now ripening, or coming to completion. Full Moons also can reveal or yield secrets, hidden mysteries.

Aspect-wise, today’s Full Moon in solid Taurus forms flowing trines to both regenerating Pluto and structuring Saturn in utilitarian Capricorn, suggesting we have an excellent chance now to deal with any transitions, before us, in a very pragmatic, determined, and resourceful way. The Moon-Pluto energy also very nicely ties into, or bridges, the more intense Scorpio Sun energy, with Pluto being the modern-day ruler of Scorpio. We can still go deep (Scorpio) with things now, but there’s less risk of emotional obsessions or fixations (Pluto) with the trine aspect. Normally, too, Moon-Pluto helps to foster feelings of empowerment.

We also are potentially feeling more intuitive, more inspired, more connected now to our link with divinity, or to our Source, or to the Universe, as the Taurus Full Moon is sextile to mystical Neptune in Pisces. Making it much easier for us to naturally lean into our reservoir of inner faith, like a trusty guide, to get us through whatever we are facing. Moon-Neptune is also terrific for any creative endeavors and for inciting our compassion,

The Taurus Moon’s opposition to logical Mercury in probing Scorpio also gives us an opportunity to analyze our emotions, or to do a “heart and head” check with ourselves, to see how we stand on things. Worst case scenario, it can make us a little more scattered, mentally.

What’s also a big extra perk for us today, in addition to the delightful Full Moon in Taurus (one of the best lunations of the year), is we have energizing Mars, in relationship-building Libra, forming a closing sextile to expansive Jupiter in adventurous Sagittarius (1:21 pm), which is also one of the last major aspects to Jupiter before it leaves futuristic Sagittarius, early next month. This aspect has “Can Do!” written all over it! It’s especially super energy for attending to all those Jupiter in Sadge projects we’ve been meaning to do (writing, publishing, travel plans, evangelizing, etc) but just haven’t gotten around to yet. Additionally, it’s excellent energy for dealing with issues of diversity, inclusion, fairness, and equality under the law. It can help inspire us to open or clear pathways, so we can all work together more harmoniously or cooperatively. Also very good for such things as PR and marketing.

(Scorpio Sun conjuncts Mercury Rx at 18 degrees, 10:21 am EST)

We’re at the midway point of the Mercury Rx cycle today, with intellectual Mercury in “inferior conjunction” with the illuminating Scorpio Sun. Ideally, this configuration provides us with an important turning point regarding much of the interior work (the rethinking, reviewing, purging or letting go) that we’ve been doing since communicator Mercury first stationed retrograde in Scorpio, on October 31st. Kind of like, all of a sudden, what has been coming up for us lately, via our subconscious or our own inner knowing, is now beginning to make a whole lot more sense to us. We’re also, hopefully, as a byproduct of this newfound mental clarity, gaining a better handle on what future actions we may need to take (once this Mercury Rx cycle is completed) to facilitate our soul’s journey.

Too, today might be an excellent time to sit quietly with ourselves and meditate or do some breath work or journaling. Or, we may want to draw a Tarot card or two for special insight. Whatever activity that helps to make us feel more connected to our intuition, to Source, to the Universe. The Moon is also in calming, grounding Taurus, all day (on its way to it Full Phase, tomorrow morning), which can make it much easier for us to tune into the wisdom of our body or our five senses, to be more fully present in the moment.

Numerologically, today is also a very special day, with it being an 11:11 day. In ancient times, the number 11 was associated with rites of passage or initiation. If you also add up the numbers of today – 11/11/2019 – they reduce down to 16, which reduces down to 7, which is the number of the seeker, or the searcher of truth. A very nice adjoining to today’s, path-clearing, Sun-Mercury conjunction.

Astronomically, today’s Mercury transit of the Sun (a mini-eclipse) is also a rather rare event that generally happens only about 13 times a century. The last time this transit occurred was in 2016. It won’t happen again until 2032.

With the Waxing Moon still deposited in initiating Aries all day, till this evening, there’s a strong desire for self-focus, independence, adventure, and wanting to make things happen, “right now!” This morning, Luna also forms a flowing trine to optimistic Jupiter, in its home sign of Sagittarius (at 9:00 am), an aspect that tends to make us want to see the best in everything and everybody. This is a very nice influence that can also supply us with an extra dose of self-confidence.

Then, tonight, we begin to ‘rein it in,’ with the Moon entering grounded Taurus (at 6:19 pm), in preparation for the exciting Full Moon in that sign, on Tuesday. The Full Moon will be occurring at 19 degrees of Taurus (exactly on my natal Sun!).

Numerologically, this Sunday is also a “one” day, which ties in nicely with the daytime Aries Moon energy, as “one” days tend to make us more enterprising, more leadership-oriented, more steeped in the mindset of self-determination and “I’ve got this!” The Sun and Mercury in Scorpio also potentially supplying us with a potent reserve of shrewdness or discernment for our nifty toolkit.
