COSMIC WATCH:

With the Moon continuing a second day in “goal-directed” Capricorn, we’re still focused on reaching that proverbial mountaintop. Although, today, before we embark upon our noble ascent, we may want to also include extra reserves of character-building patience in our backpack, as a prudent insurance plan. This is because assertive Mars is applying to an opposition to resistant Saturn (1:12 am EDT Wednesday), an aspect that is often akin to having to navigate a seemingly, never-ending obstacle course.

Too, it might be important to keep in mind now that, while the view from the top is usually very fortifying and gratifying for our ego, sometimes just having the willingness and courage to show up and do our best each day, is a gallant victory in itself, regardless of the final outcome. “Try and fail, but don’t fail to try.” Stephen Kaggwa

COSMIC WATCH:

We could feel somewhat ‘fenced in’ by our responsibilities today with the Sun opposing “taskmaster” Saturn. However, with the Moon also in “optimistic” Sagittarius, there’s a pretty good chance that we’ll be able to eventually locate, and pass through, the ‘open gate’ to our freedom. Too, remembering that we always have the power to choose our own thoughts, at any moment, can be very liberating for us, especially if we are feeling a little caged now.

Sun-Saturn aspects can also be revelatory in nature, in the sense that we may be made more aware of what it is that we “must do” in order to fulfill our life’s special purpose. Sometimes, this may mean that we either need to ‘dig in our heels’ now and get serious about certain things. In other cases, it may be that we finally realize that we need to let go of something and move on.

Interestingly, Jay Leno has the Sun-Saturn opposition aspect in his solar return chart for, the coming year, and he is poised to leave the Tonight Show in spring of 2014. Sun-Saturn is an aspect that is often at play when we shift careers. Too, when we’re older, it is often a time when we do decide to retire, or at least, cut back on our schedule. Saturn is associated with narrowing or fine-tuning our focus.

Gauging our enthusiasm for whatever we are doing at the moment is often an insightful barometer to seeing if we are truly on track with our heart’s passion and purpose. We may want to use our level of enthusiasm as a trusted benchmark for our various activities today as the Moon traverses through “truth-seeking” Sagittarius, a sign that naturally steers us in the direction of what brings us the greatest amount of personal joy and inner fulfillment. Lovable Venus is also sextile bighearted Jupiter, the planetary ruler of Sadge. This sweet influence can also aid us in seeking out playful pursuits that gently serve to spread the cosmic love around.

COSMIC WATCH:

“Assertive” Mars sextiles “philosophical” Jupiter today (6:26 am EDT). This galvanizing aspect often helps to firm up our beliefs or convictions. It can also predispose us to want to take a stand or act courageously on matters that are dear to our heart. With the right platform or outlet, it’s entirely possible that we may be able to wield greater influence or sway over others now, who may be very inspired by our high level of enthusiasm for our cause.

Since we also have Mars squaring “intense” Pluto (11:47 pm EDT), it is likely that we are also willing to work very hard to achieve our goals now. This aspect is often linked with almost a Herculean effort to get ahead, which can be very admirable. We do, however, want to make sure that, in our bid for success or dominance, that we also stay mindful of, and take into consideration, other people’s needs and desires, as on the shadow side, Mars-Pluto can coincide with bitter power struggles and manipulation.

Too, on another level, Mars-Pluto aspects can sometimes indicate a desire to let go of something that we may have at one time been very impassioned about. This “giving up” may occur alongside the realization that this thing is no longer serving a useful purpose for us and it is time to release it and move on. With the Moon still filing through “analytical, corrective” Virgo, we want to be championing our strengths while also incorporating practical strategies for self-improvement. The Moon’s trine to “transforming” Pluto (8:46 am EDT) may also bring answers to mysteries. Or, offer up healing solutions/insights worth acting upon. Moon-Pluto is also an excellent time for doing any clearing.

It’s possible that we may be able to make some major strides or advances today, particularly if we focus our energies. Enterprising Mars is sextile intense Pluto.
