“It’s faith in something and enthusiasm for something that makes a life worth living.” Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr.

COSMIC WATCH:

Gauging our enthusiasm for whatever we are doing at the moment is often an insightful barometer to seeing if we are truly on track with our heart’s passion and purpose. We may want to use our level of enthusiasm as a trusted benchmark for our various activities today as the Moon traverses through “truth-seeking” Sagittarius, a sign that naturally steers us in the direction of what brings us the greatest amount of personal joy and inner fulfillment. Lovable Venus is also sextile bighearted Jupiter, the planetary ruler of Sadge. This sweet influence can also aid us in seeking out playful pursuits that gently serve to spread the cosmic love around.

Additionally, with both the Sun and Venus square to “controlling” Pluto, this may be a good time to be extra mindful and respectful of each others’ boundaries. Invading another’s space, without their provocation, could incite some notable pushback now.

“A man’s spirit is free, but his pride binds him with chains of suffocation in a prison of his own insecurities,” Jeremy  Aldana.

Today’s Affirmation: “We are all brightly lit stars shining for each other.”

Famous Birthdays March 31: Richard Chamberlain, Al Gore. “The planet is in distress and all of the attention is on Paris Hilton.” Al Gore

Happy Easter!

“Live your beliefs and you can turn the world around.” Henry David Thoreau

COSMIC WATCH:

“Assertive” Mars sextiles “philosophical” Jupiter today (6:26 am EDT). This galvanizing aspect often helps to firm up our beliefs or convictions. It can also predispose us to want to take a stand or act courageously on matters that are dear to our heart. With the right platform or outlet, it’s entirely possible that we may be able to wield greater influence or sway over others now, who may be very inspired by our high level of enthusiasm for our cause.

Since we also have Mars squaring “intense” Pluto (11:47 pm EDT), it is likely that we are also willing to work very hard to achieve our goals now. This aspect is often linked with almost a Herculean effort to get ahead, which can be very admirable. We do, however, want to make sure that, in our bid for success or dominance, that we also stay mindful of, and take into consideration, other people’s needs and desires, as on the shadow side, Mars-Pluto can coincide with bitter power struggles and manipulation.

Too, on another level, Mars-Pluto aspects can sometimes indicate a desire to let go of something that we may have at one time been very impassioned about. This “giving up” may occur alongside the realization that this thing is no longer serving a useful purpose for us and it is time to release it and move on. Also, another possible scenario here: we may find that we need to suddenly give our attention to situations or matters that could be described as in a “state of decay.”  “You will find that it is necessary to let things go; simply for the reason that they are heavy. So let them go, let go of them. I tie no weights to my ankles.” C. Joybell C.

Today’s Affirmation: “What I need, I attract. What I no longer require, I lovingly surrender.”

Famous March 26 Birthdays: Alan Arkin, Diana Ross, James Caan, Sandra Day O’Connor. “A moment of silence is not inherently religious.” Sandra Day O’Connor

Enjoy your Tuesday!

“The devil’s happy when the critics run you off.” Criss Jami

COSMIC WATCH:

With the Moon still filing through “analytical, corrective” Virgo, we want to be championing our strengths while also incorporating practical strategies for self-improvement. The Moon’s trine to “transforming” Pluto (8:46 am) may also bring answers to mysteries. Or, offer up healing solutions/insights worth acting upon. Moon-Pluto is also an excellent time for doing any clearing.

Also, with Mars quinqunx Saturn (4:32 pm), we’re probably wise to have a well-thought-out, alternative strategy in place before deviating from any time-honored traditions.

“It does not do to leave a live dragon out of your calculations, if you live near him.” – J.R.R. Tolkien

Too, encountering any resistance to our plans now, from higher-ups or authority figures (Saturn), might also prove to be a valuable litmus test of our resolve or will.

“Resistance is a powerful motivator precisely because it enables us to fulfill our longing to achieve our goals while letting us boldly recognize and name the obstacles to those achievements.” Derrick A. Bell

“All the world’s a stage and most of us are desperately unrehearsed.” Sean O’Casey

COSMIC WATCH:

With the Moon wrapping up its stay in “theatrical” Leo, this morning, we may feel a greater sense of urgency to express something final in a bold or dramatic way. Garnering the attention of others may also provide the personal validation that we’re seeking now.

Later, the  Moon’s shift into “structured, logical” Virgo (11:49 am EDT) reminds us of the importance of focusing on the tasks at hand, instead of mentally racing into the future.

Famous Birthdays March 24: Peyton Manning, Harry Houdini. “The great day of the Fire-eater – or, should I say, the day of the great Fire-eater – has passed.” Harry Houdini

“Find what makes your heart sing and create your own music.” Mac Anderson

COSMIC WATCH:

With the Moon in self-expressive and creative Leo, we have cosmic clearance to be authentically led by our heart today, who will be serving as our chief maestro or conductor for the day, should we decide to go down this liberating path. Having carte blanche over the music selection, and dictating how it should be played by the orchestra, could make for a pretty blissful day, especially if we have been feeling a bit stifled as of late.

Too, hopefully our sincere and earnest performance will inspire others to also make some beautiful music of their own, even if the halls or corridors surrounding them may have been conspicuously silent for a while. “There is no glory in star or blossom till looked upon by a loving eye; There is no fragrance in April breezes till breathed with joy as they wander by.” William C. Bryant

Famous Birthdays February 24: Joe Lieberman, George Harrison, Steve Jobs.

“Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” Steve Jobs

Enjoy your day! Also, remember we have the Oscars tonight with the nocturnal Moon fittingly setting the stage in entertainment Leo and several planets in fantasy Pisces eager and ready to wistfully descend upon that magical red carpet alongside the Hollywood stars. Too, a discerning Full Moon in Virgo awaits us tomorrow!

“To conquer frustration, one must remain intensely focused on the outcome, not the obstacles.” T.F. Hodge

COSMIC WATCH:

It’s possible that we may be able to make some major strides or advances today, particularly if we focus our energies. Enterprising Mars is sextile intense Pluto. This influence is excellent for strategizing, detective work, sizing up situations, trouble-shooting. What may have been problematic for us before may now be able to be positively resolved, or at least settled more to our liking. This is also a great time to eliminate or purge what is no longer needed, or viable.

The Moon’s entrance into practical, earthy Taurus (5:08 am EST) also brings material or security issues to the forefront. “Money often costs too much.” Ralph Waldo Emerson.

“When you fully focus your mind, you make others attracted to you.” Toba Beta

COSMIC WATCH:

Even though the Moon is still passing through mystical Pisces, during the day, it may be best if we descended from the clouds and focused our thoughts on attending to more practical matters instead. Mental Mercury is harmoniously trining disciplined Saturn. It’s also sextile perceptive Pluto. These are excellent aspects for concentration, organization, research, and serious study and for communicating detailed information. We tend to choose our words more carefully now. This may also be a positive time to seek out advice from mentoring types or others whose judgment we value. Saturn symbolically represents authority figures, or more senior individuals. Sometimes on Mercury-Saturn days, we also hear from important persons from our past. Could even be individuals from our karmic past.

Famous Birthdays February 12: Josh Brolin, Lorne Greene, Franco Zeffirelli, Arsenio Hall, Abraham Lincoln.  “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.” Abraham Lincoln.

Astrology and the News: Pope Benedict XVI , who is an Aries, announced his pending resignation from his post on Monday with transiting Mars exactly square to his natal Saturn in his personal horoscope. Mars-Saturn aspects are often associated with endings, withdrawals, or retreats from action, so it is no surprise that he would formally announce his retirement under this influence. Mars-Saturn aspects can also indicate time periods in our lives when we feel more frustrated and less up to challenges. Mars is the planet of energy and action and Saturn symbolically represents resistance, limitations, delays, and blockages. When these two planets combine, it’s like trying to drive a car with the brakes on. You don’t get very far.

As I also mentioned in Monday’s blog, Pope Benedict made public his resignation with the transiting Mars separating from an exact square to Jupiter in the heavens. Mars-Jupiter influences can coincide with our taking important action (Mars) based on matters of our faith or beliefs (Jupiter). Jesus Christ was even thought to have been born when Mars and Jupiter were aligned together in the sky.

daily astrology, Moon sextile Pluto, Pope Benedict XVI mentions he's resigning, relationships, renewal, Sarah Palin birthday, understanding, Venus square Saturn

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon in idealistic Pisces helps us tap into our more charitable side. There is also a transforming quality to the morning as the Moon sextiles renewing Pluto (10:40 am EST). Something that was perhaps hidden or concealed to us before, may now finally be viewed or understood, or at least partially grasped.

Lovable Venus squaring serious Saturn may also find us duly reflecting upon our relationships and whether or not we are getting our needs met.

“When you stop expecting people to be perfect, you can like them for who they are.” Donald Miller

Famous Birthdays February 11: Burt Reynolds, Jennifer Aniston, Manuel Noriega, Sarah Palin

“Buck up or stay in the truck.” Sarah Palin

In the News: It was announced today that Pope Benedict XVI will resign from his post on February 28. This surprising announcement comes on the heels of Mars (in spiritual Pisces) exactly squaring Jupiter (in newsmaker Gemini) just yesterday.

It is often the nature of action-oriented Mars to trigger “historic firsts.” Jupiter is also the planet of organized religion.

Enjoy your Monday!

“Stay committed to your decisions, but stay flexible in your approach.” Tom Robbins

COSMIC WATCH:

Today’s New Moon in “experimental” Aquarius is a chance for us to symbolically wipe the slate clean and begin anew for another month. Even those of us wedded to certain agendas may find that this New Moon is an exhilarating template for doing some major or minor re-visioning of our plans or strategies. The Aquarian New Moon encourages us to throw out the old rules book in hopes of improving upon, or at least jazzing up, our present day reality. Too, we will individually want to see what house this lunation is falling in, in our personal horoscopes, as that is the area of life in which we may sense a shift beginning to take place and a real need for changing things up, or for trying out new approaches.

Ideally, this lunation will foster within us an empowering sense of wonderment about what might be possible for us if we but dared to abdicate, or at least temporarily suspend, our self-limiting judgments or beliefs, for a while, and moved instead in the direction of our grandest dreams and the Miraculous Unknown, where an endless array of possibilities are always given wings.

Too, our thirst or desire for new experiences, or new growth, is likely peaking now. Alongside this hopeful lunation, we have adventurous Mars in an exact square with expansive Jupiter. This galvanizing influence naturally poises us for risk-taking, although we will also want to make sure that we know what our end goals are, before getting into the game. Otherwise, we could find ourselves over-committing or over-promising, as Mars-Jupiter can make us overzealous and overconfident. It is, however, a very creative aspect and one that often allows us to move mountains.

We are also more inclined to let others know our opinions or viewpoints on things now. Some of us may even feel compelled to do a little preaching or proselytizing from the mountaintop, as we are busy moving it, as Jupiter governs our faith, higher convictions and overall philosophy of life. The idealistic Aquarius New Moon also potentially positions us to be involved with noble causes outside of ourselves. “Social entrepreneurs are not content to give a fish or teach how to fish. They will not rest until they have revolutionized the fishing industry.” Bill Drayton.

Famous Birthdays February 10: Robert Wagner, Glenn Beck, George Stephanopoulos. “I believe in original sin … I know that I’m capable of craving a cold beer in a village of starving kids … I understand that selfishness vies for space in our hearts with compassion …” George Stephanopoulos.

New Moon Blessings!

“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.” Marcel Proust

COSMIC WATCH:

Perceiving ourselves and the world around us with fresh eyes, perhaps by trying on new perspectives, may be a way that we can positively align with the rhythm of the cosmos today as the Moon continues her excursion through inquiring Aquarius, where it also meets up with adventurous, pioneering Mars. The process of detaching or distancing ourselves from our preconceived notions or ideas, and our emotional biases, not only helps us to know and understand ourselves better, it also affords us a chance to glean greater awareness or insight into the natural order of things, sort of like moving beyond the cradle of a shallow pond into an open, vast, welcoming sea. “Thoughts are like burning stars, and ideas, they flood, they stretch the universe.” Criss Jami
