“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs are people who have come alive.” Howard Thurman

COSMIC WEATHER:

“Connection queen” Venus, symbolizing the urge for love and beauty in our lives, is forming a powerhouse conjunction to “passionate” Pluto in “worldly ambitious” Capricorn on Feb. 9, 2011 at 8:49 pm EST. Our relationships (Venus) can serve as potent transformers (Pluto) for us now, with Pluto governing the urge for regeneration or renewal.

We potentially have more of a palpable need for intense emotional (Pluto) experiences with this configuration, especially on the romantic and social fronts (Venus). But, perhaps, even in the boardroom (Capricorn). What has been buried and hidden in our subconscious (Pluto), our deepest sequestered desires and feelings, could suddenly rise to the surface now, filtering through to our conscious awareness, beckoning us for immediate processing or at least closer scrutiny.

It could also be a turning point time for us, in terms of coming to an understanding about what we need from others in the way of love or intimacy. May also include some “aha” moments regarding what we may be able to give or commit to where others are concerned. Too, Venus-Pluto can, on occasion, bring us our “soul mates,” or important hookups from our past (Pluto). Even new, short-term relationships are more likely to impact or transfix us on a deeper emotional level now.

Because Pluto also has to do with the urge for power and control, the shadow element of this aspect could find us acting more on the manipulative or possessive side, especially if we feel that our relationships are being threatened or undermined in any way. Venus-Pluto can be very jealous and demanding. Especially in authoritative Capricorn.

Too, sometimes we try to selfishly capitalize on our relationship ties with Venus-Pluto. There can be more of an emotional desperation about us for varied reasons. We may not even consciously know what is driving us (subconscious Pluto).  Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, for example, was reportedly “caught” trying to sell access to her former husband Prince Andrew on a day when Venus-Pluto was forming a tight aspect in the sky.  Remember that incident? Many of us were really taken aback by that event. Simultaneously, it was a tragic thing to witness, the descent of Fergie all captured on film. Also, several months ago, the weird story of the “Balloon Boy” unfolded with a Venus-Pluto transit. That was another story that emotionally gripped many of us and played upon our sympathies. I can still see that balloon crossing the sky in my mind’s eye over a rural section of Colorado. Like so many, I was personally hoping that if there was a little boy inside the balloon, that he would be alright.

In another instance and on another level, Lady Gaga, who could be described as very “Venus-Pluto,” for her magnetic sensuality and provocative stage persona as an artist (Venus rules artists and entertainers), walked away during an awards ceremony in Hollywood last year with, I believe, eight awards, effectively “stealing the show,” on the very same day that Venus and Pluto were exact in the sky. A perfect day to “make a big splash” before the collective.

Venus also rules money and possessions. Aligned with domineering Pluto (Pluto denotes other people’s resources), we want to make sure that we are in general agreement with our mate or partner on how to spend or invest our joint resources before making major moves on our own now. With Venus-Pluto there could also be opportunity to transform or overhaul our financial situation, but we do want to make sure that we do the necessary due diligence here before shifting things around.

Too, with Venus-Pluto conjoined in status-conscious Capricorn, this may be a pivotal time to network on the business or professional front, as we are potentially more capable of making a potent (Pluto) impact on others. We, of course, do need to keep mindful of the image that we are projecting outward and that it frames us favorably. We definitely do not want to be “acting out” too emotionally in public, as that could actually destabilize our image now, or notoriously besmirch our reputation (Capricorn).

Patricia’s Astrology February 6, 2011: “Karmic Rewards” Daily Horoscope

“The highest reward for a man’s toil is not what he gets for it but what he becomes by it.” John Ruskin

COSMIC WEATHER:

Hard work, persistence, and a willingness to apply ourselves may bring some “karmic rewards” our way today, as we have both the power-generating Sun and motivator Mars harmoniously trined to taskmaster Saturn, the planet traditionally billed as the “Lord of Karma.”

Saturn reigns supreme over our more serious accomplishments and endeavors in life. Saturn rules labor, goal-setting, and self-discipline. It denotes the structure and foundation in our lives. It’s the glue that holds everything together for us. It’s also the “guilt factor.” Today we can make excellent strides in stabilizing the things around us. Getting stuff “to stick.” Too, we may want to seek out the support of more “experienced” or “senior” persons, “our elders,” or “mentors,” all symbolically denoted by Saturn which also governs “practical wisdom” and “common sense.”

Additionally, with both the Sun and Mars trine Saturn in diplomatic Libra, it may be a very good time to “give peace a chance.” Also, it’s an excellent day for formulating succession plans. (Thought it was interesting, too, that on the eve of these Sun-Mars-Saturn aspects, the new U.S.-Russian “START treaty took effect. Mars rules weapons and defense issues. With Saturn, we are usually more willing to “restrain” or “curb” our “martian” aggressive impulses, although the Sun is still conjoined with fiery Mars, which is a potentially a more aggressive, volatile aspect.)

With that said, we also may need to: “Hold the fries. Forgo the extra helping of macaroni and cheese, or fried chicken. Refrain from having too much sex or alcohol” today (this could be painful for some of us, especially the fried chicken). The reason for this restrictive mandate is because we have “sweetheart” Venus exactly square to generous, “over-sizer” Jupiter. A major template for overindulgence in all things pleasurable, including love.

“Nothing that I can do will change the structure of the universe. But maybe, by raising my voice I can help the greatest of all causes – goodwill among men and peace on earth.” Albert Einstein

COSMIC WEATHER:

Our mental outlook brightens. A warm ray of sunshine permeates our thoughts. This is because thinker Mercury is aligned (via the sextile aspect) with benevolent, optimistic Jupiter. A wonderful day to spread around some goodwill, or to serve up fab words of encouragement. We may also want to read books on philosophy or religion.  Or, make travel arrangements. Jupiter’s ray impinging upon us inclines us to want to broaden our horizons, literally and symbolically. Too, Mercury-Jupiter can make us a bit more chatty. This same aspect also enables us to be able to see more of the humor in situations.

The goddess Moon is additionally still sequestered in mystical, compassionate, “Why can’t we all just get along?” Pisces. Meditation and going within replenishes us now.

Patricia’s Astrology February 4, 2011: Sun Conjunct Mars Daily Horoscope

“I have always thought the actions of men the best interpreters of their thought.” John Locke

COSMIC WEATHER:

Well, if the above quote is true, that actions are the best way to decode thinking, than today we may be able to find out what a lot of us have on our minds as the illuminating Sun forms an exact conjunction to energizer Mars, the fiery red “planet of action” (11:40 am EST).

Sun-Mars is an excellent day for taking action, particularly for starting something new. Mars rules our pioneering instincts. Our ego energies are highly-charged. We tend to strongly identify with our actions now.

Too, this conjunction is occurring in “group-oriented” Aquarius, so taking action on shared goals or group causes may be warranted. Of course, with Sun-Mars, we may also need to practice some anger management, as testosterone-laden Mars does rules the aggressive urge and aligned with the Sun, this urge can be fired up. Additionally, this is a good day to engage in physical activities and exercise, although we may want to be more careful working around sharp objects or machinery (Mars).

Love goddess Venus also enters “professionally-minded” Capricorn today (12:59 am EST). Hopefully, she will help to spread some of her magic around for our careers and business interests in this sign. Venus is in “boardroom” Capricorn until March 2nd (please see my earlier blog for all the glorious, sweet details).

Moon also vacates hi-tech Aquarius for psychedelic, hippie beads Pisces (5:24 am EST). This influence could help us merge into one, as we realize we are all into this cryptic mess together, even though many of us have especially big egos today and may be requiring more pats on the back and bows and kingly salutations.

Patricia’s Astrology February 3, 2011: “Mercury enters Aquarius” Horoscope

“Never be afraid to sit awhile and think.” Lorraine Hansberry

COSMIC WEATHER:

Mental Mercury exits practical, conservative Capricorn for more rebellious and unorthodox Aquarius (5:19 pm EST) where it joins the Sun, Moon, Mars, Neptune and Chiron. Aquarius is futuristic, eccentric, innovative, detached, and objective, so with thinker Mercury here, in this sign, our reasoning tends to be more progressive, original, and logical. We are more open to new ways of looking at things, as well as entertaining opposing viewpoints. Too, Mercury in Aquarius often likes to play the devil’s advocate. Additionally, Aquarius is a fixed sign, so there still can be some stubbornness to the mental qualities, as well as an argumentative streak. Mercury stays in Aquarius until February 21st.

Also, we still have the volatile Sun-Mars conjunction, again in group-oriented Aquarius, which will finally be exact tomorrow (11:40 am EST). Of course, as many of us know, Mars does rule the aggressive urge. Unfortunately, we saw events in Egypt suddenly turn violent on Wednesday. Several journalists were reportedly even attacked by pro-Mubarak forces in Cairo, including CNN’s Anderson Cooper who was beaten ten times in the head, according to news accounts. Cooper’s injuries were later described as “not serious.”

Sun conjunct Mars is always potentially an explosive aspect, that is why we want to try to rein in our more animalistic impulses with it. Too, it’s certainly okay to vent, and often with this Sun-Mars influence, we may very well need to vent, or clear the air. Also, in some instances with Sun-Mars, we are “forced to act” or “take a stand” to defend ourselves. But, of course, we still always have the choice to rise above using physical force, unless it is a situation where our very lives are at stake. Mars does represent the urge for survival and the need for defense.  On the positive side, Sun-Mars can be very good for physically invigorating work, exercise and competitive sports, and for taking initiative. It tends to elevate our self-confidence. And, our courage. It can be a great aspect for self-discovery. Historically, on a collective basis, Sun-Mars has correlated with breakthroughs, new discoveries and advancements.

Patricia’s Astrology February 2, 2011: “Take Initiative” Daily Horoscope

“What the caterpillar calls the end, the rest of the world calls a butterfly.” Lao Tsu

COSMIC WEATHER:

A much ballyhooed “New Moon in Aquarius” is taking place later today (9:31 pm EST). New Moons herald in new beginnings (see my earlier blog post on this lunation for all the dazzling details).

The Sun and Moon are conjoined “male energizer bunny” Mars in “reinvent yourself” Aquarius and also trine to “stabilizer” Saturn in “olive branch” Libra. What this cryptically means for all of us is that it is an excellent time to “take initiative” and to also be “innovative.” We will be rewarded accordingly, if we also are wise enough to incorporate some strategic planning into the equation and also seek out experienced counsel for close collaboration (Saturn in Libra).

This is a very cool time to showcase and cultivate our uniqueness and demonstrate to the world what sets us apart from the pack. Especially for the areas of life (the house) that this New Moon falls in, in our personal horoscope. At the same time, we may also find immersion in group activities (Aquarius) another liberating source of self-expression. Mentally we are capable of brilliance with Mercury sextile original thinker Uranus. Our intuition is on overdrive now and on target, so we need to pay close attention to it.

Also connection queen Venus is square freedom-loving Uranus, making our love life perhaps unpredictable, but potentially more exciting. We’re more attracted to wacky, oddball types now, so we need to keep this in mind before we run off and elope with the sexy lion tamer at the circus.

Too, romantic fantasies also reign supreme as Venus is forming a sextile to “all of our personal woes would dramatically recede, if we could only date George Clooney” Neptune, our savior. Venus-Neptune can signify hot, passionate romance with Hollywood stars (Neptune rules actors), and, of course, we are obligingly taking that translation very literally here. 🙂

“Perhaps there is only one cardinal sin: impatience. Because of impatience we were driven out of Paradise, because of impatience we cannot return.” W.H. Auden

COSMIC WEATHER:

The Moon wraps up her monthly stay in dutiful Capricorn with a conjunction to communicator Mercury (11:42 am EST). An excellent aspect for serious, practical discussions. If we need to consult with professional experts for any reason, this would be a good time to do so. Later, the Moon’s sextile to intuitive Uranus (2:32 pm EST) can give us sudden insight into handling previously stalemated situations, especially on the career or business fronts.

The Moon closes out her day in non-conforming Aquarius (6:21 pm EST), sextiling benevolent Jupiter (10:12 pm EST). This aspect helps to stoke our generosity and imbues us with a sense of optimism. We may want to make travel plans, or read about other cultures at this time.

One note of caution: Impulsive Mars is forming a challenging aspect (semi-square) to unpredictable, rules breaker Uranus today. Whenever these two planets align, we are well-advised to avoid taking rash action, or acting too defiantly. Too, we still have the restless Sun-Mars conjunction in Aquarius, which can serve to accentuate this influence.

Patricia’s Astrology January 31, 2011: “Be Self-Reliant” Daily Horoscope

Tags

“It is easier to live life through someone else than to become complete yourself.” Betty Friedan

COSMIC WEATHER:

The industrious, capable Capricorn Moon sagely advises us to invest in ourselves. To grow our abilities. Perfect our skills. So that we may make a worthwhile contribution to the collective, while also mastering the art of self-reliance.

Too, don’t we all like applause and praise? A pat on the back for a job well done? With the Moon’s square to “withholding” Saturn (5:40 pm EST), it could be that we may have to be our own cheering section today. That others may not take notice, or comment favorably on our achievements. Are we okay with that?

Also, the powerful Sun and warrior Mars continue their tight conjunction in change-oriented Aquarius, an invigorating, but more volatile aspect that has been around for several days. This aspect will be exact on Friday. This influence tends to fires us up. Makes us more predisposed to restructuring or altering our world (Aquarius). We are much more amenable to trying out new methods and procedures, even though we still have planets and the Moon in traditionalist Capricorn.

Of course, we have also been witnessing the chaos and political upheaval in Egypt, this past week, while this potent Sun-Mars aspect has been in effect. Thousands of people have been injured and reportedly over 100 persons killed.

Mars rules the aggressive urge (war), and the Sun, through the conjunction, is fueling that urge. Aquarius is also the sign that rules “group expression,” with Mars energizing that expression now. Sun-Mars in Aquarius can be viewed as “power for the people.” Aquarius is a sign of freedom and reform. Aquarius puts the needs of the collective, over the needs of individuals. Diverse factions unite to rally for their causes. Also, in the horoscope for modern Egypt, transiting Uranus (the ruler of Aquarius) at 27 degrees of Pisces is exactly square to the 27 degree natal Gemini Sun, suggesting an overhaul (Uranus) of the leadership (Sun). Too, demonstrations are planned in other countries in the Middle East in the coming days.

Expansive Jupiter is also now in Mars-ruled Aries. It will be there for the next few months. Jupiter in Aries can be personally liberating for many of us, in that it can endow us with a greater sense of self-confidence (Aries) and less fear, resulting in personal growth and the seizing of new opportunities. It can, however, simultaneously be a more potentially combative placement for us, in that we are often more willing to fight (Aries) or stand up for our beliefs (Jupiter). Aries is very courageous and brave. It is the sign of action, sometimes militant action. Sometimes overly impulsive, hasty action. Mars rules soldiers and the military, and vigilantism.

Venus Enters Capricorn February 4, 2011 to March 2, 2011

“When men and women are able to respect and accept their differences then love has a chance to blossom.” John Gray

Love goddess Venus enters stabilizing Capricorn on February 4th, where she will be firmly anchored until March 2nd. With Venus situated in cautious Saturn’s terrain, and Saturn in Libra – also in Venus’ home turf (mutual reception) – there is more of a pragmatic quality to our relationships.

While Venus in Capricorn can be personally ambitious and may yearn to be highly regarded, she may also be seeking something more enduring romantically. With Saturn ruling time, the focus may naturally be more on longevity/long-term commitments.

Venus in Capricorn can be loyal and faithful; there may also be a certain reserve or shyness. Self-made types who hold visible positions of power may also hold special appeal for Venus in Capricorn.

With Venus symbolizing, money, possessions, and what we value, Venus in Capricorn may be more conservative in the outlay of cash and also searching more for quality and substance over quantity and frills. We may also be more interested in traditional types of investments.

Capricorn also rules our professional life, and Venus deposited here may bring more success to us on the career front. Potentially a good time for networking to further our career ambitions.

“Love doesn’t sit there like a stone, it has to be made, like bread; remade all the time, made new.” Ursula K. LeGuin

COSMIC WEATHER:

The Moon continues in adventurous Sagittarius, beckoning us to move outside of our comfort zones. Hopefully, we’re up to this challenge. We should also do things that we are truly enthusiastic about today. Sagittarius energy is animated and spontaneous. It doesn’t like to be repressed.

Also, it’s a great day for growing our social connections. We’re definitely poised to “feel the love,” and need to additionally be “spreading the love” around now. This is because the Sadge Moon is making her monthly meet-up with seductive love goddess Venus (10:18 pm EST). Our power of attraction sizzles!!! 🙂
