“Friendship is the golden thread that ties the heart of all the world.”John Evelyn
The empowering Sun exits “I have” Taurus and cascades into “I think” Gemini, shifting our core focus from an accumulation of things and a quest for security to an accumulation of knowledge (5:22 am EDT) and eager interaction with others. Restless Gemini is characterized by a “need to know” and also requires active participation in its environment via travel and communication. (The Sun will be in intellectual Gemini for the next month.)
Later on, we also have the Moon departing personally ambitious Capricorn for forward-thinking, detached Aquarius (10:32 pm EDT), another socially-minded air sign, like Gemini, in which attention is centered on group expression and collaborative efforts.
Goddess of love Venus, in pleasure-seeking Taurus, is additionally forming a potent, harmonious trine to passionate, renewing Pluto in Capricorn (2:01 pm EDT), potentially giving us the chance to deepen or strengthen (or heal) our relationship ties. Venus-Pluto often puts us in touch with our deepest desires (Pluto rules the subconscious) and helps to foster particularly strong emotional reactions to persons and events around us.
Often on Venus-Pluto days, we will be riveted by certain captivating stories that we hear about in the news regarding relationships and romance. Or, even Venus-ruled artists or entertainers may capture our attention in a special or singular way. Lady Gaga, for instance, racked up, I believe, 7 or 8 Grammy Awards one night, when Venus and Pluto were exactly aligned in the sky, effectively “stealing the show.”
Too, sometimes old lovers from our past, including our karmic past, appear under this same aspect. It is an influence that is linked with finding our soulmate. (Pluto rules death and rebirth).
This same aspect also favors going treasure-hunting. I recently “fell in love” with, and ended up purchasing, a fabulous pinkish, salmon-colored, upholstered chair at a tag sale the day Venus and Pluto were exactly aligned in my horoscope (Venus rules art and other objects of beauty). As soon as I set my eyes on the chair, I was “overpowered” (Venus-Pluto) by it, and simply had to have it. Venus-Pluto is also associated with “obsession” or “intense craving.” This aspect is also excellent for personal creativity.

Mars, the planet of drive and self-assertion, enters its own home turf of Aries today (12:51 am EDT), where it will stay until May 11th. Mars in its own sign tends to be very impulsive, yet also courageous and daring. Its placement here helps to fuel our desires, including our sexual desires, which Mars also governs. With Mars in adventurous Aries, the sign of identity and self-discovery, we may feel the urge to “act quickly” on our dreams.
The Moon also enters Aries today (7:17 am EDT) in preparation for its New Moon on Sunday (10:33 am EDT). All told, when it does, we will have a total of six of the celestial bodies in “steroidal” Aries: the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, and Uranus. The Moon also conjuncts freedom-loving Uranus (9:46 am EDT) and squares intense, controlling Pluto (10:26 pm EDT). Also, Mars will be conjuncting high-voltage Uranus on Sunday.
Additionally, love maven Venus is forming a fortuitous, 60-degree aspect to transforming Pluto today. This aspect can magnetically boost our “power of attraction.” Venus-Pluto can also deepen our relationships and heighten our passions.
Too, Venus-Pluto aspects are often regarded as times when we may “meet our soulmates.” This is because in karmic astrology, Pluto is linked with our “past lives” and Venus, of course, rules love. Retrograde Mercury (which we also have now) has also been known to put “people from our past,” back into our orbit.

COSMIC WEATHER:
“Connection queen” Venus, symbolizing the urge for love and beauty in our lives, is forming a powerhouse conjunction to “passionate” Pluto in “worldly ambitious” Capricorn on Feb. 9, 2011 at 8:49 pm EST. Our relationships (Venus) can serve as potent transformers (Pluto) for us now, with Pluto governing the urge for regeneration or renewal.
We potentially have more of a palpable need for intense emotional (Pluto) experiences with this configuration, especially on the romantic and social fronts (Venus). But, perhaps, even in the boardroom (Capricorn). What has been buried and hidden in our subconscious (Pluto), our deepest sequestered desires and feelings, could suddenly rise to the surface now, filtering through to our conscious awareness, beckoning us for immediate processing or at least closer scrutiny.
It could also be a turning point time for us, in terms of coming to an understanding about what we need from others in the way of love or intimacy. May also include some “aha” moments regarding what we may be able to give or commit to where others are concerned. Too, Venus-Pluto can, on occasion, bring us our “soul mates,” or important hookups from our past (Pluto). Even new, short-term relationships are more likely to impact or transfix us on a deeper emotional level now.
Because Pluto also has to do with the urge for power and control, the shadow element of this aspect could find us acting more on the manipulative or possessive side, especially if we feel that our relationships are being threatened or undermined in any way. Venus-Pluto can be very jealous and demanding. Especially in authoritative Capricorn.
Too, sometimes we try to selfishly capitalize on our relationship ties with Venus-Pluto. There can be more of an emotional desperation about us for varied reasons. We may not even consciously know what is driving us (subconscious Pluto). Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, for example, was reportedly “caught” trying to sell access to her former husband Prince Andrew on a day when Venus-Pluto was forming a tight aspect in the sky. Remember that incident? Many of us were really taken aback by that event. Simultaneously, it was a tragic thing to witness, the descent of Fergie all captured on film. Also, several months ago, the weird story of the “Balloon Boy” unfolded with a Venus-Pluto transit. That was another story that emotionally gripped many of us and played upon our sympathies. I can still see that balloon crossing the sky in my mind’s eye over a rural section of Colorado. Like so many, I was personally hoping that if there was a little boy inside the balloon, that he would be alright.
In another instance and on another level, Lady Gaga, who could be described as very “Venus-Pluto,” for her magnetic sensuality and provocative stage persona as an artist (Venus rules artists and entertainers), walked away during an awards ceremony in Hollywood last year with, I believe, eight awards, effectively “stealing the show,” on the very same day that Venus and Pluto were exact in the sky. A perfect day to “make a big splash” before the collective.
Venus also rules money and possessions. Aligned with domineering Pluto (Pluto denotes other people’s resources), we want to make sure that we are in general agreement with our mate or partner on how to spend or invest our joint resources before making major moves on our own now. With Venus-Pluto there could also be opportunity to transform or overhaul our financial situation, but we do want to make sure that we do the necessary due diligence here before shifting things around.
Too, with Venus-Pluto conjoined in status-conscious Capricorn, this may be a pivotal time to network on the business or professional front, as we are potentially more capable of making a potent (Pluto) impact on others. We, of course, do need to keep mindful of the image that we are projecting outward and that it frames us favorably. We definitely do not want to be “acting out” too emotionally in public, as that could actually destabilize our image now, or notoriously besmirch our reputation (Capricorn).

“You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else.”Albert Einstein
The Universe must have great confidence in our multi-tasking abilities. Unless, it’s deliberately being sadistic with us! What I am alluding to here is the fact that we have several potent aspects stacked up on our plates today to existentially grapple with. Of course, the real biggie is the New Moon Partial Solar Eclipse at 13 degrees 39 minutes of Capricorn, the first lunation of the new year. We have six eclipses on tap for this year: four partial solar and two total lunar. We haven’t had this many partial solar eclipses in one year since 1982, the same year that Michael Jackson released “Thriller,” the biggest selling album of all time. Also, that was the year that the Vietnam Memorial was formally dedicated in Washington D.C., occurring only a few days before MJ’s “Thriller” release in late November 1982.
Ironically, the original chairman of the Vietnam Memorial project, John Wheeler, was found murdered this past New Year’s eve. His body was tragically found in a landfill in Delaware. Also, today, it’s kind of weird, but Dr. Conrad Murray begins to testify in a pre-trial hearing in a court in LA with respect to MJ’s death. Of course, neither of these events have anything to do with the eclipse today. Just two interesting parallels that I thought I’d point out, since I happened to stumble upon them by accident, when I was reviewing events in 1982 in Wikipedia for this blog today.
Solar and lunar eclipses are special new and full moons. They often usher in notable events, for both individuals and the collective. Eclipses often “speed things up.” They can suddenly open up new doors for us. Monthly new moons traditionally denote new opportunities, with the eclipse being somewhat the equivalent of a new moon on steroids. The impact of an eclipse can last up to six months. Too, sometimes the affects of an eclipse are not felt immediately.
The few days right before the eclipse are especially highly-charged, and it is on those days when we really want to think about, and formulate, our new moon intentions, and make time for serious prayer and meditation. Especially advisable for single women now: Profoundly meditating on the sacred image of George Clooney. This is largely because George also has his natal Moon in Capricorn, closely conjunct cautious Saturn. Just thought I’d throw that in here. So George doesn’t think we’re completely abandoning him, caught up in all the momentary hoopla of the red hot eclipse. 🙂 (Also, at this end of this blog, I have included a bit about a real-life dream that I just had about GC, if you’re interested in reading about it. It was really, more like a nightmare!)
Those who have planets or horoscope angles from 10 to 17 degrees of the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn), will likely be most impacted by this eclipse. Also, all of us need to note the house in our birth charts where the eclipse is occurring, as the affairs of that house now are definitely being energized, and likely awaiting prompt, eager response from our delicate little brains.
Of course, whether any of this “opening door” stuff will also coincide with the miraculous arrival of the Publisher’s Clearing House sweepstakes crew to our front door, is highly doubtful. Although, we should never entirely give up hope here. I, for instance, just ordered 320 new magazines for the year in an earnest bid to effortlessly guide the PCH folks to the exact location of my house. I also have pictures of the late, great Ed McMahon, posted on my street mailbox, and in them he’s further pointing the way to my front door, as I have known about this eclipse for many months now and its’ possible ramifications for my life, if I take certain, drastic measures.
Capricorn is symbolized by the goat climbing up the mountain, with the mountain personifying success. Capricorn wants to be successful in whatever it does, so this eclipse new moon will likely have the net affect of firing up our ambitions. It’s the perfect time to really get going on our new year’s resolutions, be it to lose weight, or become chairman of the board. Win the PCH sweepstakes.
Arianna Huffington, in her “Sunday Roundup” at The Huffington Post on Sunday, mentioned that, this year, she was “deleting” some things from her resolution list, that she earlier thought she would do one day, but realizes now that she will never do. She is checking these resolutions off “as complete,” and crossing them off her list, so she can focus on “freeing up space for those projects” she is truly committed to. This is very reflective of the typical Capricornian-mindset, which is very utilitarian and realistic in its approach.
Also read in the Wall Street Journalthat Oprah Winfrey doesn’t even make resolutions anymore. She was quoted in there as saying: “I don’t make them, because I live in the space that I’m in right now. I move with the flow, live in the moment.” I guess, that approach also has its useful (Capricorn) advantages to it, as with that philosophy, you are maximizing, or at least attempting to anyway, what the present has to offer, instead of focusing on a future that is not at all guaranteed. Although, Capricorn also tends to be very cautious, likes to always have a plan in place, and is generally not very impromptu.
A Capricorn eclipse most likely will not bring us rapid fire gains, but rather signifies success as a result of self-discipline, commitment, hard work, and being pragmatic. Capricorn is not comfortable getting dragged into any obscure, or pie-in-the-sky endeavors. It wants to know, from the get-go, what it is dealing with. This may be especially the case, this go-round, as the eclipse forms a tight square with Karma Lord Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn. Saturn perennially delights in holding our feet to the fire, making us accountable. Both Saturn, and Capricorn, are totally turned off by irresponsibility. It could be, too, that this eclipse coincides with a more difficult time for persons in positions of power or management. Especially for those who have been under-performing, as Capricorn rules authority figures, and the Sun denotes leadership.
With the “Saturn square,” too, we tend to be more critical (Saturn) of our leaders and higher-ups, much less willing to cut them any slack. Could be, too, this eclipse is a catalyst for changes in many corporate boardrooms around the world. Changes that could even trickle down to the local PTA hierarchy level. Maybe even into our own workplace offices. Of course, we also have the new U.S. Congress taking office, this week, with a Republican-controlled House, voted in on an apparent mandate to cut spending (synonymous with this Capricorn eclipse more “budget-minded” mentality).
Too, it appears that Capt. Owen Honors of the USS Enterprise is going to be officially relieved of his duties, perhaps as early as today, for airing lewd videos for his crew aboard the aircraft. While this airing actually occurred a few years ago, his activities were only really publicly brought to light on the eve of the eclipse. Fascinatingly, Jupiter and Uranus are exactly conjunct in Pisces now, the zodiacal sign which rules film-making. Jupiter-Uranus can bring about sudden revelations!
The Jupiter and Uranus exact conjunction in watering hole Pisces (7:50 am EST) is, in fact, a big player in today’s lunation chart. These two guys have become pretty good drinking buddies, as of late. They have been basically paired up with each other for the last six months or so. Mostly in caring, underdog, dreamy Pisces, a short time in adventurous Aries. They are both headed back to Aries this year. Jupiter and Uranus won’t be conjunct again, however, until 2024. So this aspect is big news.
Again, Jupiter-Uranus can bring sudden breakthroughs (esp. in science, technology, internet) that significantly change or alter the playing field, both individually and collectively. Mentally, we may also envision grander possibilities for ourselves, perhaps see things in a totally new light. This is because Jupiter tends to expand or grow our consciousness. It is the planet of opportunity and abundance. Innovator Uranus, denotes change, and sudden flashes of genius and intuition. Uranus additionally rules humanitarian causes, and equality issues. Pisces, too, is a very compassionate sign. President Obama, for instance, just signed a big bill on Monday to give 9/11 first responders health care benefits. Was there ever a group more deserving? I don’t think so. It is also very exciting that we have this upbeat conjunction in place with this more practical Capricorn eclipse, as it gives us a desire to dream big (Pisces rules dreams), yet at the same time we are aware that we must work hard to turn our dreams into reality.
Additionally with this Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in place, we recently saw the historic repeal of the DADT bill in the U.S., which prevented gays and lesbians from serving openly in the military, a big leap forward for our nation, in my opinion. Another example of Uranus coming to the plate for us for equality and civil rights issues. I also mentioned in the last eclipse report for late Dec., that this same conjunction in 1969 in the sign of Libra coincided with the first “Moon walk,” yet another leap for all of mankind.
Also, there was more news, yesterday, of a possibly big breakthrough in cancer screening, in which even just one cancer cell may be able to be detected in the body. Wouldn’t that be great? How many lives might be saved with early detection? My mother sadly died of cancer on January 3, 1996. I also lost my husband to cancer. Who among us had not lost somebody to cancer? I wager to say, none of us.
To discern this conjunction’s magical meaning in our own lives, we should look to see the house that it is falling in, in our personal charts, to see where we may be experiencing sudden breakthroughs, or be arriving at fresh new understandings. Maybe even where miracles may be occurring. And, of course, we may have been already experiencing some of these things for the last several months, as this is the final phase of this opportunity cycle. Also, those persons who have planets or angles in their horoscopes at 27 degrees of the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) are going to be impacted the most by this final pairing of these two planets. I have my Jupiter at 27 Gemini, so, I guess, I am among the “chosen few” here. Could be because of my annual contribution to PCH. Jupiter in Gemini loves to read.
Finally, love goddess Venus (ruling relationships and money), presently deposited in the latter degrees of passionate Scorpio, also figures prominently in today’s lunation chart. Venus is exactly square to Neptune and Chiron in Aquarius, and she is also in a magical, harmonious trine to the Jupiter and Uranus conjunction.
Venus-Neptune is all about glamorizing or idealizing romance, having fantasy or phantom lovers (GC?), romantic involvement with individuals who are often, in reality, not at all as they appear to be on the surface. We can also fall head over heels for people who are not free (could be married or otherwise committed), or they are maybe on a different wavelength than us. We can also be tempted to play the role of martyr under this influence. Neptune rules actors. artists, musicians, creative types in general, so I guess now, I am personally very vulnerable since I have a crush on both Clooney (actor) and Jagger (musician). 🙂
Venus-Neptune is a classic deceptive marker, so we need to be very careful that we are not lied to and played like a fiddle for a short time, and then sadly dumped by the curbside for Monday morning garbage pick-up. New romantic relationships that strike up now need to be given the test of time, to see if the other person can really, “walk their talk,” and chew spearmint gum at the same time! Few can. Also, we may want to run in-depth background checks on these new lovers. Definitely we need to be cautious about giving them any of our hard-earned cash. Additionally, we may want to lock up our valuable art work, especially our prized “paint-by-number pieces,” as this is a shifty influence associated with art thefts!
Simultaneously, Venus in Scorpio trine Jupiter and Uranus in spiritual Pisces could signify for us the formation of new, expansive relationships and friendships with more “highly-evolved” types, who are into helping humanity. Or, we may also be more attracted to scientific types (Uranus) or inventors. Too, there’s a chance that we could even become infatuated with computer geeks (Uranus). This trine could also possibly denote the arrival of a soul mate, since Scorpio does rule past lives, and Venus rules lovers.
With Venus-Uranus, we are more attracted to, and or more accepting of, persons who maybe are a little bit different from us, or who are maybe more unconventional in general. Entertainment-wise, we may also want to engage in activities that wildly or radically deviate from our usual routine. We also may be want to participate in group activities now, which Uranus rules.
Too, Venus-Jupiter characteristically is all about indulging in fun and pleasure. It can be very romantic. Venus-Uranus often brings about sudden attractions. Instant love! But remember, we still need to get the new love interest fingerprinted and thoroughly checked out, just as a precaution, due to Venus-Neptune. Later on, if we see that there might be some real potential, we may also want to go ahead and carefully administer an upright vacuuming test. In addition to asking the person directly, how they really feel about passionately vacuuming alone in the dark, especially during an eclipse. Do they like it, or not? If no, why not? Again, with Venus-Neptune, we must probe. Probe, probe, probe. 🙂
“Lose your dreams and you might lose your mind” Mick Jagger. Especially if I lose my dream about you, Mick!
Okay. Now to my dream about George Clooney: I did actually have a dream/nightmare about George on New Year’s day, during a short “solo” nap alone (: in the middle of the day. In the weird thing, I remember looking out of my front living room window in my house, and seeing George standing in my front yard, with another nondescript man of color, who I did not recognize. The other guy was kind of a big guy. Probably his bodyguard.
George was wearing a sexy black leather jacket and faded blue jeans. But, to the best of my recollection, he did not appear to have any whips or chains under his arms, or at least, any that I could see, and trust me, I was looking for them. Unfortunately, too, in the dream, George ended up walking AWAY from my house with that guy, without even venturing to ring my doorbell. Symbolically, I took this as a very bad omen. He should have been walking TOWARDS my house instead. Don’t you think?
My house also probably signifies my physical body. A real slap in the face that George can’t even bring himself to ringing my bell! Does anyone out there do dream interpretation? Know maybe what this dream about Clooney may mean, or portend for me? Could it mean that I’m suppose to move perhaps more in the direction of Mick Jagger, with my natal, dual-lover, Venus in Gemini placement? Seek Mick out for my spiritual and emotional rescue? 🙂

COSMIC WEATHER:
Love Goddess Venus conjuncts Restrictive, Subdued Saturn (1:24 pm EDT) in relationship Libra. Part of the dramatic, historic “Cardinal Cross” adventure playing out in the heavens. This is the first match-up in this sign between these two planets since October of 1982, nearly thirty years ago.
With Venus-Saturn, our hearts may feel heavier. However, more depth is also possible in our relationships. There may also be the desire to “push for more commitment,” as security issues tend to loom larger.
Venus-Saturn can additionally deliver “soul mates” to us. Saturn is known as “The Lord of Karma.”
On the other hand, there’s a chance with this same aspect, for more “distance” to come between us, too, in our interpersonal relationships, as we may poignantly become aware of our sharp differences with others and unsure of our ability to resolve them. We may also just want to let some ties end now. Venus-Saturn is often synonymous with pruning.
Some people, too, may simply leave our lives now because they’re no longer suppose to be there. The karmic assignment we had with them is finished, kaput. People and relationships, we all have “expiration dates.”
Later in the day, with the Moon’s exit out of maudlin Cancer and entry into warm, entertaining Leo (7:23 pm EDT) the “heavier” emotional energy is more dissipated, and our spirits are more animated. Still some drama could erupt, though, as Leo is very good on the stage.
“Venus conjunct Saturn
We’re feeling lonely and blue
and, oh, so unpopular.
We’re wondering, too, if maybe the TV commercials are right after all: That whiter teeth and fresher breath could save the day for us, romantically. But which brand of whitening toothpaste to buy? That is the monumental question, isn’t it? And, should we stick with regular Listerine or try their newer, purple-colored option? And, is it okay to use both and maybe mix them up? Have you personally tried mixing them together? And, if so, what color did you get?
I wonder, too, if certain mouthwashes are more popular with certain kinds of people? Do aging hippies, for instance, prefer the purple Listerine because it reminds them of their psychedelic youth?
I wonder what kind of mouthwash President Obama used to attract Michelle? Or, Elvis, to attract Priscilla?
Too, maybe certain brands of mouthwash are better for certain astrological signs’ romantic prospects than others? For instance, the outgoing, energetic fire signs might score more with a louder, red-colored mouthwash, indicating more vibrancy. While the retiring water signs might fare better, romantically, going with the muted pastels, denoting receptivity.
Venus and Saturn also symbolizes “father figures” and “May-December,” romances, which could also blossom today around the globe for a goodly number of people. Fondly reminiscent, too, of “Elvis and Priscilla.” Remember Priscilla’s beehive hairdo? I wonder how many bees Priscilla was able to fit in there?
As you may already know, Gracelandand Memphis are getting ready to prepare for “Elvis Week,” this week, August 10th-16th, in Elvis’s “75th birthday” year. The annual event reportedly draws 30,000 to 40,000 people from around the world to Memphis. I recently read that, later in life, Elvis, a Capricorn, was very interested in astrology. He also had his Moon in mystical Pisces in the third house of the mind and was into meditation and fascinated with Eastern philosophy.
I also sort of wonder, as Elvis got involved in these things, later on, did he gravitate more towards pastel color mouthwashes in his life then, since he was activating the more receptive, Pisces side of his nature? Being an earthy Capricorn, his natural impulses would be to select mouthwashes comprised of the earth tones: browns and greens.

Enjoy your Sunday!
I hope you’re not lonesome tonight. Sometimes a little vacuuming can help, though, if you are, especially since we have the homey Cancer Moon. You might want to try vacuuming in two or three rooms and see if you feel any better. It’s about creating better feng shui, vacuuming up the dirty energy and putting it tortuously into the vacuum bag. Just make sure that the debased energy cannot escape from the bag, at which point lonesome feelings could return with a vengence.
I also find that when you vacuum upright, with the upright version, versus stooping down, with the old canister kind, it’s more effective for dispelling loneliness. Especially if you close the blinds first, allowing for more of a sense of raw intimacy between you and the vacuum.

COSMIC WEATHER:
We miss them so much already.
Those ten Russian spy agents who, for purposes of unfathomable destiny, had to leave the U.S. to go back to their native homeland, as part of that grand “Jupiter square Pluto” spy swap.
But, just as one door closes, another one always opens. So it seems.
Such is the case today, and for the next couple of days, with “Love Goddess” Venus, newly-deposited in pure, virginal Virgo, getting ready to move into a seductive, “Past Life” trine aspect to transformational, “Master Spy Agent” Pluto. Pluto is surreptitiously based in the governmental intelligence-gathering sign of Capricorn the Goat. This Venus-Pluto alliance should prove to be a very rich, singular opportunity to “platonically connect” with an undefiled, spy soulmate from our celibate Virgo past. Eventually this tie will also be able to descend into a more physical realm of connectedness, once the initial virginal karma is satisfied.
This romantic “spy soulmate-delivery” influence is also already gathering steamy karmic support today from “Cerebrally-Virile” Mars, also quietly at-large in unsuspecting Virgo. Mars is unassumingly sextiling the “Illuminating” Sun in “Akashic-Record Keeper” Cancer.
Needless to say, due to all this heavenly, horizontal positioning, we are breathing heavy and standing by upright on high alert. Furtively looking around our tidy, suburban neighborhood for our secretly longed for “Spy Soulmate” to magically appear. We expect them to be outfitted in, none other, than a brand new, spiffy Kohl’s trench coat, recently purchased during Kohl’s “two-for-one” spy trench coat sale. Perhaps it is that very sale that got the other spies busted. We’ll never know. When does the government ever tell us anything unfiltered? That is why it is always so critically important to thoroughly debug the store boxes when you bring them home with you.
(Below is a link to my blog from June 27th entitled “Spy Network” that I actually wrote on June 26th, two days before the Russian spy story broke on June 28th. The spies were arrested on June 27th, the day of my blog!)
News Update 7/12: It is very interesting that with this Venus-Pluto “love of spies” energy now, we are finding out some new details about the Russian agents who were living here and were “swapped” last week, in that spy swap. Venus-Pluto energy is “strong energy” for finding out about all that is hidden, especially “hidden agents” as Pluto rules spies.

“My second favorite household chore is ironing. My first being hitting my head on the top bunk bed until I faint.” Erma Bombeck.
It’s day two of the Moon in Virgo (until 10:50 pm EDT). What could that portend for us? What do I see taking shape in the crystal ball? Hmm.
How about a bucket and a mop! After all, it is a Saturday. And, the Virgo Moon is a nut about cleanliness – I’m even cleaning the keyboard as I write this.
Plus we have Venus now deposited in Cancer, signifying a love of the home, and nobody wants a dirty home, especially when the Moon is in tidy Virgo.
Voila. So that’s it! Our karma question has been readily solved for today.
Yes, the more I think about it, it is our destiny now to be submerged in all manner of cleaning. Virgo is also talented at organizing, so we can line up all of our cleaning supplies and related paraphernalia in a most adroit manner before we even get started.
I also realize, too, that many of us are probably feeling a great deal of moral and spiritual angst today, with the Jupiter (expansion) opposition to Saturn (contraction) almost exact. But, we’ll talk more about the full meaning of that weighty influence tomorrow, when it will indeed be exact (1:38 am EDT).
Too, Saturn is also in Virgo so why not try to make that cranky old planet a tad happier by removing that annoying ring around the kitchen sink and giving him less competition.
Celebrity News:
Oprah did a “farewell interview” with Simon Cowell on Thursday. Fittingly, Simon’s horoscope (born 10/7/59) was echoing that same “parting sentiment” that day. He had the transiting Venus exactly opposite his natal Saturn, a classic aspect of separation that also hints at a little bit of sadness.
Venus represents what we love and value. It shows what we are attached to in the guise of our relationships. It also signifies our creative attachments and things of beauty that we have perhaps given birth to, such as exquisite works of art, paintings.
Saturn meanwhile represents those “safe structures” that we have painstakingly erected in the world as a result of going to work every day and responsibly doing our job. Saturn showcases to all our composite of talents and skills that we have so keenly honed over time that consequently allows us to eke out a living on the planet.
Indeed, Saturn symbolizes the world that we have diligently assembled for ourselves. It’s like our little empire. A few people, like Simon, as well as Oprah, are able to manifest gigantic Saturnian empires that have the net affect of allowing them to wield an inordinate amount of “earthly power” and “status.”
Saturn can also signify poignant endings, however, or a letting go of those self-made trappings, especially when paired with relationship Venus, Goddess of Love.
So, on Thursday, with transiting Venus in vulnerable Cancer, the zodiacal sign of the womb, opposite Simon’s Saturn in the professional sign of Capricorn, Simon was saying “goodbye” to a part of the world (Saturn) that he had so creatively crafted (Venus) and birthed, and that had afforded him a notable amount of material riches and worldly success.
He was also saying goodbye, in many ways, to the extension of corresponding relationships that he had forged with the fans who were part of that reality (Saturn) that he had manifested on American Idol, hence there was a palpable tone of sadness in the air during the interview and Simon’s demeanor was also more serious. The “opposition aspect” is an aspect depicting a full culmination of awareness regarding what one has previously set into motion.
For the last few days, Simon has also had in his horoscope, transiting Mercury, denoting thoughts and communication, exactly trine his natal Pluto, the gatekeeper of all of our secrets. Pluto represents the subconscious and all that is hidden from view. It symbolically depicts what we have buried inside us at the deepest level of our beings.
With Mercury aligned with Pluto, we often get in touch with those hidden elements inside ourselves that we may have previously kept submerged or maybe didn’t even consciously know existed. Mercury-Pluto is associated with psychotherapy and arriving at a new awareness of the nature of things as a result of unearthing hidden feelings and emotions.
With this aspect, we are also more willing to articulate and share our secrets. During the interview with Oprah, for example, Simon mentioned that he suffers from depression and said that he can be very difficult to be around because of his moods. He also mentioned that he has felt under pressure because so many people depend on him.
I have previously written about Simon Cowell’s horoscope on my blog here, and am not going to go into much detail again about it, except to say that one of the most notable aspects in Simon’s chart is his Venus and Pluto conjoined in workaholic Virgo, the sign of service.
Venus, as I mentioned earlier, denotes what we love and in the sign of Virgo, it shows that we are inclined to be “married to our work.” Simon even told Oprah that his work has been sort of a girlfriend for him. Pluto also speaks to our need for power and persons with this aspect can be very obsessive and controlling in going about obtaining that power in the workplace.
Venus-Pluto is often the signature of someone who can be completely consumed by their work to the point of obsession (Pluto). It is very hard for these persons to let go and delegate and also harder for them to relax physically, as Virgo is a more nervous sign physiologically.
Virgo is also all about perfection with an insatiable desire to serve and please and when natives of this sign feel that they are not delivering here, they can feel boatloads of guilt. Simon also addressed this very same guilt issue.
What is very positive now for Simon is that he has transiting Pluto, which often acts as a transforming agent in our lives, exactly trine to his natal Venus-Pluto configuration. This more harmonious trine influence is allowing him to broaden out his scope of pleasurable things (Venus) in his life, beyond the confines of the work sphere (Virgo), to the formation of a very significant personal relationship with someone he apparently plans on marrying. As I wrote about earlier when I did his horoscope, transiting Pluto to Venus can bring in a soul mate and it does sound like Simon feels that way about the current female presence in his life, at least that is what I gathered from hearing him talking to Oprah.
It could be, too, that Simon’s professional work, in the next couple years, perhaps his involvement with the new American X-Factor, or maybe something else that he is working on,is also going to propel him to even bigger and newer heights on the world stage.
Mick Jagger, incidentally, wrote the lyrics to Satisfaction when Pluto was exactly conjoined his Venus, which is also in the same sign as Simon’s (Virgo). Satisfaction in a left-handed way is a “soul mate” for Mick and the Stones in that it is their trademark piece of work that most identifies them. Maybe Simon has something else inside him, as well, that he will be birthing soon, that will also impart some kind of fresh trademark status for him beyond his many achievements already. We’ll just have to wait and see and wish him the best. I know I will personally miss him on Idol, the show will not be the same, but I am looking forward to watching Simon on the X-Factor.

In the last analysis, what we are communicates far more eloquently than anything we say or do.” Stephen R. Covey
Tucking away that sage bit of wisdom to perhaps chew on later, the ever-changing Moon is ready to continue on to her next information-gathering stop in curious, communicative Gemini.
That is the mindset today. We want to find out and know a little bit about everything with emphasis on “little.” We’ll have more time to fully digest and philosophize about all the meaning of this new knowledge when the Moon moves through mutable Virgo and Sagittarius.
The lighthearted and fun-loving Gemini Moon also makes us Chatty Cathy in addition to reminding us not to take ourselves too seriously now. Our humor is also in greater supply, thankfully.
Overall, pretty cool feng shui energy for a fun Saturday.
Event in history on this date:
Beatle Paul McCartney reportedly met his future wife Linda Eastman on May 15, 1967. Most notable astrological influence here was the transiting, life-changing Pluto at 18 Virgo exactly trining his relationship Venus at 18 Taurus. The very same type of influence that Simon Cowell now has in his horoscope. Simon has transiting Pluto in Capricorn trining his Venus in Virgo. He is supposedly now engaged and poised to get married.
Pluto, which I regard as our planet of destiny, brings us those situations for which we were born. (I also know Pluto has technically been de-throned from planetary status.) When Pluto is aligned with Goddess of Love Venus, it can and often does bring us the person we were meant to love. Or, in other words, brings us our soul mate. I can personally attest to this fact, as I also met my husband with transiting Pluto exactly trine to my natal Venus.
Venus also represents things that we love, our possessions, and also things that we create. Venus rules our artistic creativity. As I mentioned the other day, Mick Jagger, who penned the lyrics to Satisfaction in May of 1965 (Keith Richards composed the music to it in his Neptunian sleep), also had the transiting Pluto exactly conjoined his Venus at the time. So for Mick, Pluto and Venus was synonymous with creating something of a masterpiece that fatefully changed his life (the song would become the Rolling Stones’ signature trademark). Mick would always have a special, symbolic “soul mate” relationship with Satisfaction in a way.
Linda Eastman also had transiting Pluto exactly sextile to her natal Scorpio Moon in her first house of new beginnings when she met Paul. The feminine Moon governs our feelings and nurturing emotions and in karmic astrology symbolizes our past life experiences. The transiting Pluto to the Moon often delivers to us those experiences that transform or “wake us up” emotionally. I believe Linda and Paul were probably soul mates in a previous lifetime since both of them came together in this incarnation under Pluto’s powerful ray.
Looking at Linda’s and Paul’s horoscopes here, there is so much more I could write about now but, with the Moon in restless Gemini, I’m feeling the need to move on. I am sure you are, too. Perhaps we can revisit this matter of their two horoscopes later.
Enjoy your Saturday! Do Gemini proud and stay in motion. Don’t be a couch potato!

“You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.” Dr. Seuss, American Writer and Cartoonist.
Our focus turns to our relationships today as the Moon leaves work-oriented Virgo and enters social Libra at 7:21 am EDT. Libra is the sign of balance, so with the Moon here we are poised to take inventory of our relationships with an eye to evaluating whether or not they contain a good amount of give and take. Also, we may be inclined now to ponder exactly how it is that our relationship needs are getting met.
We also have a Full Moon in Libra at 10:25 pm EDT adding even more weight and focus to the relationship realm. Full Moons always represent a culmination of awareness so we are better able to have potential breakthroughs in realizing exactly what relationship moves we may need to make. Venus, which rules the “love urge,” is also exactly sextile (an opportunity aspect) to mystical Neptune. This Venus-Neptune exchange of energy can make us seek out a more “spiritualized” type of love reflecting perhaps our desire for meeting a “soul mate.”

In the news: President Obama (a Leo) made a “surprise trip” to Afghanistan on Sunday. Not really a surprise, however, if we look at his horoscope now. Mars, the planet that rules war, is at 2 degrees of Leo exactly conjoined his Mercury in Leo (which is also at 2 degrees). Mercury rules our thinking and thought processes and conjunct “warrior Mars” now, it is natural that President Obama would be more inclined to want to go visit, in person, a “war zone,” especially since he is Commander-in-Chief. The nature of Mars is also very assertive (Mars rules the aggressive urge) so he is potentially more desirous of wanting to personally strike up communication (Mercury) with other world leaders (which Leo rules). He is also likely feeling much more self-confident in and energized by his ideas. (Mars will be conjunct President Obama’s Mercury through the first few days of April.)
