“We loved with a love that was more than love.” Edgar Allen Poe

Venus, the planet of love, beauty, money, and values, is stationing retrograde today at 0 degrees of Virgo. This apparent backward-moving cycle will last until September 6 – a natural time for us turn inward and reflect upon our needs for love, as well as a period to possibly re-assess our overall financial picture, and what it is that we truly value in our lives, and also, consequently, what we hope to attract in the future.

Sometimes, with Venus retrograde, we also find ourselves dealing with past relationships – or people from the past may suddenly intersect our orbit again. American writer and historian, Washington Irving, once wisely remarked that love is something that is never really lost. “If not reciprocated, it will flow back and soften and purify the heart.” Most definitely, a very healing sentiment, and something that we may also want to keep close to our heart now, especially if we should encounter someone more difficult or problematic from our past, in the days ahead – someone who may have rebuffed or spurned our romantic overtures, for whatever reason. There’s also another quote, quite timely here, that says, “Rejection is protection.” Can’t recall who said that, but it’s also certainly another way of looking at “lost love” in a very positive manner that can help to make us feel better about some of our former liaisons that may have ended on a sour note. It can also be very uplifting for us to not view romances that have gone astray as merely “failures,” but rather to look upon them as possibly enlightening seminars instructing us on the truest or purest intentions of our heart; often we require contrasting or challenging experiences in order to figure things out, or to unveil what’s hidden within the complex depths of our being.

Motivating Mars is also square rebellious Uranus today – a galvanizing aspect that will continue to linger around for the next day or two. This configuration can increase our desire for personal freedom and excitement or adventure, but we may want to avoid making any big changes just for the sake of change, especially on the domestic or family front (Mars in Cancer); Mars-Uranus is associated, on the shadow side, with acting prematurely, or without regard for the long-term consequences – a strategy that usually tends to backfire on us. On the plus side, this planetary pairing can be very innovative, helping us to see old issues or problems in a new light. Uranus is also stationing retrograde tomorrow, perhaps adding more weight to this particular aspect now. The Moon is also in intense, transformative Scorpio, all day, a lunar placement that can serve to duly prime us for drama or intrigue. It could be that we’re hot on the trail of something big now, our sleuth juices overflowing! 🙂

To Say Goodbye

(Today’s Planetary Aspects: Moon trines Neptune, 9:01 am; Moon sextiles Pluto, 6:06 pm; The Moon is in releasing Scorpio all day; Mercury finishes its shadow period today at 13 degrees of Gemini. All times are EDT.)

Cosmic Quote of the Day: “Thank God I found the GOOD in goodbye” Beyonce Knowles

Finding the GOOD in goodbye is both an enlightening and uplifting concept because, on the one hand, it propels us to examine the upside aspects of a parting (Scorpio) – something that we might, otherwise, be tempted to forego. Secondly, it blesses or attaches a positive vibration or sentiment to whomever or whatever we are saying goodbye to.

About Today’s Energy: The Moon in Scorpio adds an element of depth and complexity to our perceptions and interactions. An early morning trine to intuitive Neptune (9:01 am) also helps us to adeptly tune into other people’s feelings and desires. Later, the Moon’s sextile to influential Pluto (6:06 pm) can positively re-acquaint us with a sense of our own power and capability, which can, in turn, motivate us to tackle more challenging tasks.  Too, ideally included in this itinerary will be finding some time to partake in de-cluttering or refurbishing projects, which Scorpio energy is so characteristically famous for. This is also an excellent period for sharing intimacy with another, channeling our inner detective, going antiquing, or having a past life reading.

Famous Birthdays June 27: Khloe Kardashian, Helen Keller, Ross Perot, Vera Wang

The Ship

(Today’s Planetary Aspects: The Moon is void-or-course in balancing Libra until 1:57 pm when it enters transforming Scorpio; Moon trines initiating Mars in protective Cancer at 5:01 pm. All times posted are for EDT.)

Cosmic Quote of the Day: “Don’t wait for your ship to come in, swim out to it.” Cathy Hopkins

When we seize the moment, or are otherwise engaged with life, we tend to feel better about ourselves. The mere act of taking action also signals to the subconscious that we interested in our lives, and our future. Taking initiative is also a marvelous way for us to bolster our self-esteem and confidence.

Today, the Moon is void-of-course in Libra until 1:57pm, so for the first half of the day, it is best to continue with or finish projects that we already have in the works, or to use this time period for pausing or reflection. Once the Moon enters investigative Scorpio at 1:57 pm, we have the green light to go ahead with new endeavors. The Scorpio Moon imparts a strong desire to get at the truth. We are also more poised to be led by our passions at this time.

At 5:01 pm, the waxing Scorpio Moon forms a flowing trine to energizing Mars, which is newly installed in security-oriented Cancer. This harmonious aspect may motivate us to take swift, determined action toward our goals. This invigorating influence also gives us a wonderful chance to show off or display our leadership ability. On a personal level, this energy is excellent for building emotional rapport with others as well as for mending or reconciling our relational ties.

Astrology October 25, 2014: Mercury Stations Direct

astrology for october 25 2014, horoscope october 25 2014, mars in anaretic degree in sagittarius, mercury stations direct in Libra October 25 2014, Moon in Scorpio, power of attraction, Sun conjunct Venus

“Truly successful decision-making relies on a balance between deliberate and instinctive thinking.” Malcolm Gladwell

COSMIC WATCH:

Mercury, the thinker, stations direct today in “relationship” Libra (3:17 pm EDT). When a planet “stations,” it appears “motionless” in the sky – behaving kind of like a stalled car, alongside the roadway. It is also thought that only when Mercury finally moves beyond its “shadow phase” on November 9 – or the original degree in which it turned retrograde – will “clarity” finally return to our thought processes and decision-making, as only then will Mercury have completed the “full retro trek” of the landscape.

Lovable Venus, the ruler of Libra, is also, again, a major player today, in the cosmic scheme of things, seemingly enjoying official “rock star” status with her exact conjunction with the sultry Scorpio Sun (3:31 am EDT). Hopefully, this alignment aids us in our “power of attraction.”

Assertive Mars is also at the urgent “anaretic” degree of Sagittarius, shifting into “ambitious” Capricorn, tomorrow. Mars at the end of Sadge, which represents our beliefs and convictions, can poise us to take some kind of “last minute action” in order to show others exactly what it is that we hold in high regard, or what is, perhaps, most meaningful to us. It could be, too, that we feel extra pressure to take a stand on things. One thing that we do want to avoid, though, is fanaticism, or a “holier-than-thou” stance, which could backfire – especially with Mercury stationing direct, some of our ideas could be misconstrued.

Question for Today: What is your overriding belief about the world?

Astrology October 24, 2014: Moon Continues in “Passionate” Scorpio

“Better pass boldly into that other world, in the full glory of some passion, than fade and wither dismally with age.” James Joyce

COSMIC WATCH:

Recent studies show that when we have a passion for an activity, be it a sport or a hobby, we will not only engage in that activity on a regular basis – and perceive that outlet as something that we highly value – the activity will also become an inherent part of how we define our self.

Also, when we have what is described as a “harmonious passion” for something, we are more likely to be able to regulate this passion, internally, and hence, add to our feeling of well-being, which can positively impact other areas of our life. Too, a flip side here: when we have an “obsessive passion,” or a passion that starts to control us, then any positivity that we may get from engaging in this activity, tends to quickly evaporate – and this passion can actually end up creating “ill-being,” and interfere with our other life activities.

I mention this here today because we are still very much in the range of the “bull’s-eye” of yesterday’s “intense” Scorpio Eclipse, the astrological sign that is the prototype or template for “passion.” It is in fixed, water-sign Scorpio where our emotions can quickly morph into, seemingly, almost an almighty, indomitable force – for good or bad – and, right along with this, our passions. Especially, our romantic passions! And, perhaps, especially now, with Venus, the Goddess of Love, also swimming through the seductive waters of Scorpio, alongside the Sun.

The Moon remains in Scorpio, all day, today, and becomes especially REVVED UP, this afternoon (2:16 pm EDT), when it sextiles “regenerative, redemptive” Pluto, the modern-day Ruler of Scorpio. Moon-Pluto aspects often show us how to resuscitate something; how to breathe life back into what was once, perhaps, perceived of as dead, bust, or simply a lost cause. Moon-Pluto can be very healing, at its best. Also, this type of energy can help us to locate lost, hidden, buried, or missing items. It is thought to be excellent for any kind of investigative work – including espionage or spying! Maybe we need to retrieve the binoculars and that old sixties trench coat from storage! 🙂

Question for Today: What are you most passionate about and how does that passion affect your everyday life?

“You never know what your next dig is going to find.” Bill Wyman.

“A beautiful thing happens when we start paying attention to each other. It is by participating more in your relationship that you breathe life into it.” Steve Maraboli

COSMIC WATCH:

The “sentimental” Moon wraps up her stay in “social” Libra, this morning, with a conjunction to communicator Mercury. This may be a positive time to share or discuss our feelings with our mate or partner, or fellow comrades – especially if we’re also willing to hear what they have to say, as well. Too, this influence can be great for doing any personal journaling, or for writing creative copy that emotionally moves (Moon) others. Also, since this conjunction is occurring in balanced and fair-minded Libra, this Moon-Mercury energy may favor diplomatic efforts. It’s also important to note that Mercury is now at the end of Libra – at the anaretic degree – suggesting more of an “urgent nature” to communications or negotiations.

The Moon’s shift into “passionate” Scorpio (10:29 am EDT) also potentially adds a healthy dose of resolve or determination to whatever we choose to focus on today, with the Scorpio Moon characteristically known for its “staying power.” Late writer and renown management consultant Peter Drucker once noted that “commitment” is the catalyst for making our goals or intentions take shape. He said, “Unless commitment is made, there are only promises and hopes; but no plans.”  I also think that, sometimes, we shy away from committing our self to something because we’re unsure or unclear of its value to us.

Some celebrities born with the Moon in Scorpio: Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce Knowles, Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus, Charlie Chaplin, Bruce Lee, Elizabeth Taylor.

Question for Today: What are you most committed to achieving?

Famous September 26 Birthdays: George Gershwin, T.S. Eliot, Olivia Newton-John

“We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.” T. S. Eliot, Four Quartets

Enjoy your Friday!

Also, I wanted to extend congratulations to retiring Yankee Shortstop Derek Jeter for giving baseball fans a truly electrifying and historic “Jupiter trine Uranus” moment at Yankee Stadium, last night. Jeter reportedly described his winning hit in his final at-bat at Yankee Stadium as “an out-of-body experience is the best way to put it.” (New York Times).

“The truth must be quite plain, if one could just clear away the litter.” Agatha Christie

COSMIC WATCH:

With today’s Moon in “investigative” Scorpio, digging below the surface is likely the best strategy by which to play the day and, hopefully, come out the insightful victor in the game of life in the process. As Aldous Huxley once wrote, “Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.”

The Moon’s trine to “philosophical” Jupiter (1:56 pm EST) also seems to be a big boon for us here as it can help us to put any lingering or bothersome minutia (facts) into a larger, understandable context that feels very freeing or expansive. Moon trine Jupiter is a classic aspect of “opportunity.”

Later, the Moon’s conjunction with “utilitarian” Saturn (7:58 pm EST) reveals to us the infinite, ageless wisdom of “conserving our resources.”

COSMIC WATCH:

Makeovers can be exciting and invigorating. They can also be an ideal way to sustain our existences, over time, as they inevitably help us to step outside of our comfort zones and experience or witness old elements in a brand new light. Including often allowing us to view ourselves with renewed fascination and interest. And, as our perceptions are stretched or altered, we unwittingly end up sowing the seeds of our own growth or evolution. “Man’s mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions.” Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr.

With transformational Pluto, the official “makeover guru,” stationing direct in Capricorn today (1:07 am EDT), after a five-month retrograde (review) phase, we seem to have symbolic cosmic approval to outwardly re-define or re-invent ourselves in healthy new ways now, so as to allow for the fullest expression of our authentic self. Pluto also archetypically representing what is essentially our raw essence, or what is often submerged or buried within us at the core levels of our being.

As is typically the case with purging Pluto’s activated ray, we may also have more of a passion now to divest ourselves of any elements that are outworn, dishonest, or redundant, in hopes that we will be better able to stand and flourish surrounded simply by our own truth, instead of being led by dictates formulated by others. “The whole point of being alive is to evolve into the complete person you were meant to be.” Oprah Winfrey

We also have the Moon entering Pluto-ruled Scorpio today (10:46 am EDT), where it will be joining galvanizing Mars on Wednesday. The very same day that radical Uranus is making yet another exact square aspect to game-shifting Pluto. “The dogmas of the quiet past, are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise—with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew and act anew. We must disenthrall ourselves, and then we shall save our country.” Abraham Lincoln.

COSMIC WATCH:

“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.” Helen Keller

Going deeper with our feelings may be easier with the Moon moving through penetrating Scorpio which tends to naturally predispose us to want to dig beneath the surface of things to get to the heart of a matter. Mental Mercury is also quinqunx to investigative Pluto, Scorpio’s modern-day ruler, injecting more intensity and passion into our thinking. There is very little that will deter us now from finding out whatever it is that we wish to know. Although, on the flip side, we may need to guard against being a little bit too overbearing. “In everything the middle course is best; all things in excess bring trouble.” Plautus

What are you naturally curious about?
