“I love thee to the depth and breadth and height my soul can reach.” Elizabeth Barrett Browning.

COSMIC WEATHER:

This Valentine’s Day finds us navigating a potentially more complex emotional terrain with the nurturing Moon entering feeling-oriented Cancer (12:50 am EST) and forming a wide array of “roller coaster” aspects to Jupiter, Pluto, Mars, the Sun, and Venus.

Not to worry, though. Because on the flip side of this cosmic coin, mental Mercury, governing communication, is forming an exact harmonious trine to “no frills” Saturn who wisely advises us to keep our Cupid’s messages for each other short and to the point. (With Mercury-Saturn, less is always more.) Accordingly, “Need you now” may be all we really need to say today to be a big hit with our sweetie. Along with, of course, “I love you.”

“Love is an act of endless forgiveness, a tender look which becomes a habit.” Peter Ustinov

“Love is, above all, the gift of oneself.” Jean Anouilh

(Happy that Lady Antebellum‘s “Need You Now” won both “record of the year” and “song of the year” at the Grammy Awards last night. A masterpiece of a song, don’t you think? Of course, I also got my Valentine’s gift a day early last night seeing my lifelong love, Mick Jagger, perform on the Grammy stage for the very first time. Wish Keith Richards had been with him, though. Too, very nice seeing Barbra Streisand and Bob Dylan perform.)

Famous Birthdays February 14th: Mike Bloomberg (69), Florence Henderson (77), Hugh Downs (90)

Also, a very warm, heartfelt Valentine’s Day greeting to each one of my five, faithful blog readers here. Hope it’s a good one for all of you, with lots of chocolate and kisses. Reckon, too, that I should leave a light on for my other sweetheart, George Clooney? Just in case? Keep hope alive?

“Need you now, George.”

“The only failure is not to try.” George Clooney. 🙂

“A moment’s insight is sometimes worth a life’s experience.” Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.

COSMIC WEATHER:

Moon continues in, “I always have food on my mind” Cancer. A cosmic cue to keep our little fannies scurrying around the kitchen. Keep in mind, too, that we have a Full Moon in emotional Cancer tomorrow. If we’re already feeling a little “teary-eyed,” it’s because of this factor.

Additionally, we have the third and final conjunction of intellectual Mercury with, “Let me take you down, way down” Pluto in “professionally-attired” Capricorn. (The earlier two Mercury-Pluto meet-ups occurred in December 2010.)

With Mercury conjunct perceptive Pluto we journey deep within our interior corridors, looking for answers to our troubled or shady past. Pluto is the guardian of our mysterious subconscious, and aligned with curious Mercury, some of our submerged or hidden contents may suddenly rise to the surface for a thorough and final inspection. This is an excellent time for arriving at mental breakthroughs pertaining to our past. We’re capable of “piercing insights” when we dig deep now. Our communications can also be more riveting and intense.

We’re also probing externally for the possibility of finding any hastily discarded lottery tickets that could be winners. Some of us, too, may be grappling with thoughts of disrobing, while we’re probing, since Mercury-Pluto can also be a little kinky. Of course, with the Moon in foodaholic Cancer, there’s a chance that the kitchen table may also be used for purposes other than setting our plates. 🙂

Last, but not least: We may want to go online and check out the current job openings at WikiLeaks. Mercury-Pluto is associated with spying, and covert operations, and with this conjunction falling in professionally-minded Capricorn, it may be a good time to submit our resume there for maximum impact. We may also want to underscore in it, the fact, that we have big connections at Kohl’s, in the coat department, which affords us generous discounts on all the latest trench coat fashions. A compelling reality that may sway Julian Assange to bring us aboard. Furthermore, we are even privy to Hillary Clinton‘s coat size, a matter that is closely-guarded by American embassies everywhere.

“It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.” Charles Darwin

COSMIC WEATHER:

Many of us do not like change. This is often because change usually requires that we learn terrifying new skill sets. Or ambiguous new behaviors. It is normally easier for us to simply “coast along in our sameness,” as the beautiful people that we are already, minus the pressure of hideous modification. Plus, we may feel that if we subject ourselves to the onerous forces of change, we may wipe out, or put at risk, the tiny smattering of security that has taken all of our lives to accumulate. And, too, this could happen.

Of course, the great fallacy here with this type of rigid thinking: Life is always changing! It is never static, as much as we may like to “cling” to that fanciful concept. A static situation is a cessation of activity. That occurs only when we are dead. Or dating the wrong kind of men. Which could be even worse.  While we are alive, we have got to learn to “roll with those proverbial punches, baby” and adapt.

My little banter here is a prelude to today’s complex cosmic set-up: Moon vacates, “Please, just let me have my 19th nervous breakdown and be done with it” Gemini for, “All I want to do is preheat the oven and bake my life away” Cancer. The ambitious Capricorn Sun also sextiles “You’re talking change? I’ll show you change, by golly!” Uranus.

What this means in plain English is: The day starts out on the jumbled side (Gemini Moon), but the pace becomes more relaxed and familiar with the Moon’s entrance into homebody Cancer, and the oven now dutifully set at 325 (at 2:30 pm EST). The Sun’s link-up with unpredictable Uranus, however, suddenly gives us quirky ideas about venturing outside of the kitchen to go in the backyard to build a wacky space station (4:56 pm EST). The Cancer Moon part of us will have none of that crap and rebels.  So what to do? That’s something for each of us to decide in his or her own way. Do we want to stick with the tried-and-true Pillsbury doughboy today? Or, do we want to change things up and try to contact space aliens? Keep in mind, too, that pioneering Mars has just moved into Uranus-ruled Aquarius. Also, Jupiter is still conjoined Uranus. It could be that we’re suppose to “make that Uranian change” and venture into the backyard to tinker, and ideally see if we can also convince the motherly Cancer Moon to do some grilling outside, with the doughboy flipping the burgers. 🙂

“A man desires praise that he may be assured, that he may be quit of his doubting of himself; he is indifferent to applause when he is confident of success.” Alec Waugh

Cosmic Weather:

Moon vacates familial Cancer to assume a seat on the throne in proud Leo (7:51 am). Accordingly, we may be in need of some elevation and adulation in our own daily lives now.

The authoritative Leo Moon typically likes to be in charge and with a quincunx aspect to “Darth Vader” Pluto in Capricorn (4:21 pm) power struggles could ensue unless there’s a spirit of compromise or cooperation included in the mix.

Activities highlighted today: acting, directing, entertaining, throwing parties, events with children, event-planning, shopping for gold jewelry.

Cosmic Watch:

Luna is in nurturing, protective Cancer today favoring matters on the home front and activities with family. Security issues may loom larger now. Excellent time for self-care.

In the News: Pilots for the low-cost American carrier Spirit Airlines went on strike Saturday.  This strike action comes on the heels of fiery Mars moving through the work sign of Virgo and separating from a quincunx to aviation ruler Uranus deposited in Aries, which Mars rules.

News Update: A massive effort is underway to clean up the damage left behind when a Chevron pipeline reportedly leaked up to 21,000 gallons of oil into Salt Lake City waterways Saturday. Restrictive Saturn is exactly quincunx again to Neptune, ruler of oil and water.  Saturn is also in cleanup Virgo!

Event in History on this date: On June 13, 1967, Thurgood Marshall was nominated as the 1st black Supreme Court justice. In the sky that day, transiting Mercury, governing thinking and decisions, was in nurturing Cancer, and exactly square to pioneering Mars in Libra, the sign that rules the Supreme Court.

Usually with strong Mars aspects, there are new beginnings and new developments for the sign in which Mars is transiting through. Squares also force action.

The transiting Sun in idea Gemini, too, was coming off of a square to both Uranus and Pluto conjunct in introspective Virgo, further suggesting the collective would possibly be grappling with some kind of transformational (Pluto) changes (Uranus) that could also involve issues of equality (Uranus).

June 13 Birthdays: Mary-Kate Olsen, John Nash.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Astrology April 20, 2010: Sun Enter Taurus, Chiron Enters Pisces

building, Chiron enters Pisces, consolidation, daily astrology, decluttering, Moon in Cancer, renewal, Saturn opposite Uranus, Sun in Taurus, value

Cosmic Watch:

The Sun enters consolidating Taurus.  It’s time to focus our energies more upon building things of value and permanence.  It’s also time to discern and evaluate the existing structures around us to gauge their ongoing purpose and relevance in our lives.

For example, we may enjoy certain things or activities, however, due to shifting priorities, we may need to phase some stuff out now, as we become more aware that we only have so much time and energy at our disposal. Taurus energy is all about focusing and building upon our successes. It is very practical, material, and no-nonsense, and prefers things plain and simple.

With the Moon in nesting Cancer, we may also want to focus our thoughts now on finding value in our homes. Some possible questions to ponder here: How do we regard our home spaces?  What do they reveal about us? Are they warm and inviting? Do they reflect our personalities? Do they give us peace? If not, why not?

“The most important work you and I will ever do will be within the walls of our own homes.”

Since spring is a time of renewal, a period when we are symbolically born again, it is often deemed a perfect time to rejuvenate our living quarters. Also, with Saturn presently opposite Uranus, we are perhaps being urged by the cosmos now to discard whatever is outworn (Saturn) in order to grow (Uranus).

Additionally, with the Sun, Mercury and Venus all in the money and possession sign of Taurus, we may want to have a yard sale and sell the things we no longer want, while pocketing some cash in the process.

Wounded Healer Chiron also enters Pisces today. The last time it was in this sign was from 1960 to 1969 coinciding with the peace and civil rights movements and free love and hippies. Pisces at its most noble expression represents Divine Love and compassion and the transcendence of physical boundaries. Back in the 60s, psychedelic drugs became popular with many young people trying to dissolve the hold of the physical world around them.

I have a feeling this time around with Chiron in Pisces, there may be far-reaching advances in medicine and perhaps more focus on natural and or homeopathic treatments, especially since spiritual Neptune will also be entering Pisces in the near future.

I also think we will be focusing more and more of our attention on the sea and our water supply, which is also ruled by Pisces.  Also, on oil.  Hopefully, Chiron will help us to both heal ourselves and the planet by living greener and more naturally.

Enjoy your Tuesday!

“Safe upon the solid rock the ugly houses stand: Come and see my shining palace built upon the sand!” Edna St. Vincent Millay.

Cosmic Watch:

The Moon enters nesting Cancer (at 7:39 am) accenting home and family matters. Cancerian energy is nurturing and protective and is sometimes afraid of letting go or venturing outside of perceived comfort zones. Too, just taking baby steps – instead of big leaps – is often a good way to expose to new experiences.

The Sun is finishing up its annual romp in initiating Aries today. Also, the Sun’s quincunx to Saturn, in organizing Virgo, may press us to be accountable for some of our actions of late and whether we have been putting our time/resources to good use.

“This is the very perfection of a man, to find out his own imperfections.” Saint Augustine.

Memorable event in history on this date:

April 19, 2005 – Pope Benedict XVI, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, becomes the 265th Pope. The Cardinal (b. 4/16/27) had the transiting and transforming Pluto in Sagittarius exactly conjoined his 10th house of career when he became Pope.

Pluto often delivers to us those life-altering experiences and circumstances that can only be described as our destiny. Pluto also rules power and control and Pluto’s alignment on his 10th house conferred upon him the ultimate power as head of the Catholic church.

The sign of Sagittarius is on the Cardinal’s career house in his birth chart, originally suggesting a possible life path in the church, as Sagittarius rules traditional religion. The Pope also has several other aspects in his horoscope that reiterate a more spiritually focused undertaking for this life.
