With the Moon in “balancing” Libra, the sign of the scales, it may be easier for us to weigh our options, or to stand in different perspectives today. That’s one reason why the backdrop of the Libra Moon is normally regarded as favorable for collaboration or mediation, as we are usually better able to glean or entertain opposing viewpoints with it. Too, often by merely playing around with or shifting our perceptions, we may discover that we feel more energy inside of us. We quite literally become charged by the new possibilities. “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” Wayne Dyer. Of course, the Libra Moon can also make us, on the shadow side, a little more indecisive as a result of seeing more choices on our plate, although if we tune in and follow our heart we will know what course to take.

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon in “problem-solving” Virgo all day gives us a distinct advantage regarding fixing or correcting whatever is broken or in disarray in our lives. This may extend to a desire to want to tidy up our surroundings by de-cluttering.

Lovable Venus is also conjunct wild, radical Uranus in pioneering Aries today, so the relationship sphere may hold an element of surprise or unpredictability. Sometimes this aspect can also serve as a catalyst for forging sudden, electrifying ties between people. A while back, when I was doing some astrological research, I discovered that Paul McCartney and John Lennon met for the first time on a day when Venus was conjunct Uranus in the entertainment sign of Leo. Uranus also rules change and revolt. No one, of course, knew back then that the seeds for a musical and cultural revolution were being sowed that very day with Venus and Uranus united in the sky.

In the News: The Pentagon unveiled plans today that would allow women to serve closer to the front lines of combat in some new roles, including working as an infantry person in a battalion. This story is fascinating from an astrological perspective as we have the Venus-Uranus conjunction today exact in Aries, the sign of the military. Venus also governs women and Uranus is the planet of change and equality.

That confidence boost, in turn, helps to yield even more passion and enthusiasm for what we want, sort of like what occurs when we stoke a fire. Too, what usually helps us to ultimately score a home run, especially when Venus is here in the “me-first” sign of the zodiac, is being able to display a genuine willingness to help others get their needs met as well, so they know that we are not soley interested in furthering our own agenda, which can sometimes be a shadow manifestation of Venus in Aries. The Moon’s passage through “sentimental” Cancer poises us to want to revisit our nostalgic roots. Optimally, to peruse the preceding pages of our biography with the soulful intent of extracting a few takeaway jewels that can add golden wisdom and meaning for where we are now along our current path.

Perhaps we can recall a time period, for instance, in which we were able to rise above a host of obstacles by applying determination and persistence.

Or maybe we can remember when we quit a self-sabotaging habit.

While we all desire certainty in our lives, to some degree, with the Moon in inquisitive Gemini now we are also attracted to the world of the unknown, analogous perhaps to periodically wanting to visit a new vacation site to stretch our experiences. Too, when we journey to new places, we often have a sense of wonderment and excitement about our surroundings, which can be very invigorating for us. COSMIC WATCH:

Mental Mercury, at the end of pragmatic Capricorn, squares cautious Saturn this morning before shifting into curious Aquarius later today. While Mercury-Saturn can add seriousness and depth of focus to our perceptions, it is an aspect that is often linked with more fear-based thinking and skepticism.

One way to turn Mercury-Saturn into a possible “win-win” situation for us may be to ask ourselves, what are our fears or more rigid views on matters trying to teach us now about ourselves that we may be able to flip/transmute into something that is more positive or empowering?

That said, Mercury’s shift into airy Aquarius (1:12 pm) – where it will stay until February 14 – may make it easier for us to cop a more detached mindset in which our options can be viewed more neutrally.

Luna also will be leaving Pisces for initiating Aries this afternoon (1:29 pm), potentially priming us for action and adventure.
