Cosmic Weather:

“To practice any art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow. So do it.” – Kurt Vonnegut

There’s a First Quarter Square between the dramatic Leo Moon and grounded Taurus Sun today (at 4:38 p,m). This may create a desire and a determination to want to venture outside the sanctity of our normal routines to experience something more glamorous or playful or creative.

Communicator Mercury is also having its annual conjunction with non-conforming Uranus in Taurus (values, money, comfort), later tonight (10:41 pm). Mercury-Uranus can sometimes feel like a bit of a horserace going on in our head as our thoughts and ideas can be galloping by us fast and furious now. Uranus, which is the higher octave of mental Mercury, generally tends to speed things up. This aspect is also associated with strokes of genius, originality, innovation, and intuition.

Since Mercury and Uranus are also aligned in financial Taurus it’s possible that we may come up with new or different ideas to make money now. Or, perhaps, it could be that we find ourselves facing situations or circumstances that challenge us now, maybe out of necessity, to simply be more creative or inventive in how we generate a revenue stream because how we operated in the past is possibly no longer a viable option.

“Much ingenuity with a little money is vastly more profitable and amusing than much money without ingenuity.” Arnold Bennett

Also tomorrow in the U.S., a coalition of many essential workers at Walmart, Amazon, FedEx, and other retailers are supposedly poised to go on strike to protest their working conditions during this COVID-19 era. Reform-minded, dissenting Uranus is often a prominent factor in strikes or protests. Speaker Mercury also gives workers a chance to voice their grievances or complaints. May 1 “Rent Strikes” are also reportedly planned in some cities across the U.S. on Friday.

Messenger Mercury formally governs the news and, for the last several days, we have also been hearing more and more about possible food shortages, particularly meat and poultry shortages or disruptions (Taurus governs the food supply). Earlier this week, for instance, with Mercury in Taurus exactly square to authoritative Saturn, President Trump signed an executive order (as part of the Defense Production Act) to keep meat plants open, citing that they are ‘critical infrastructure.’ Also yesterday, we heard a bit of positive news about breakthrough results (Mercury-Uranus) concerning a clinical study involving hospitalized COVID-19 patients who responded positively to Remdesivir, an antiviral drug experimentally used for treating the virus. The FDA is now reportedly moving at ‘lightning speed’ (Uranus!) to review data on the drug to hopefully get it officially approved and cleared for treatment for seriously ill Covid-19 patients.

Cosmic Weather:

“Sometimes I think I need a spare heart to feel all the things I feel.” Sanober Khan

Luna, still in her Waxing phase in protective Cancer, forms an opposition to both transformative Pluto (at 12:01 pm) and abundant Jupiter (at 3:29 pm) today. Both of these planets have been in conjunction with each other since early April.

The more intense Moon-Pluto aspect often allows us to experience our raw emotion, including sampling what has perhaps been buried deep inside the caverns of our subconscious. Accordingly, this is a great time for journaling or psychotherapy as penetrating new insights may bubble up into our conscious awareness potentially having a healing or regenerative impact upon us. On another level, this aspect can also predispose us to want to take more control of various elements in our life, including possibly desiring to purge or phase things out of it that are no longer working. In some instances, we may need to fix, repair, or salvage situations.

Meanwhile, the Moon’s opposition to philosophical Jupiter tends to make us feel more buoyant and optimistic as well as generous and altruistic. It’s excellent for teaching or learning new things. It’s also a positive time for dealing with more large-scale issues or for collaborating with foreign entities.

Luna will also shift into dramatic Leo, later tonight (9:06 pm), and form a First Quarter Square to the Sun in Taurus, tomorrow afternoon. Too, intellectual Mercury is having its annual conjunction with innovative, breakthrough Uranus, tomorrow.

Born On This Day: American Country Singer Willie Nelson (On The Road Again). Nelson, who was born in Abbott, Texas, is turning 87 today!

“I don’t believe in adhering to any rules I don’t support and I didn’t vote for. To hell with what people think. Just be who you are and you’ll be happy.” W.N.

Hope it’s a good one! Be safe and well.

Cosmic Weather:

“Self-consciousness kills communication.” Rick Steves

With mental Mercury squaring taskmaster Saturn today (at 1:28 pm) we may feel that it’s a bit harder to get our brilliant thoughts and ideas across to others. Part of the reason for this may be that we tend to be more highly critical or judgmental of ourselves and other people now and that resistance/unacceptance tends to impede the natural flow of things. There may also be more of a desire to want to nail down every last detail in projects as super-cautious Saturn never likes to leave anything to chance.

Generally, Mercury-Saturn aspects are excellent for any endeavors that call for focus or concentration, such as research, planning, budgeting, quality control, or editing. On the shadow side, there can be more of a tendency to worry or to let our fears predominate, which is why we may want to just concern ourselves now with living in the present moment, which is something we can always do something about. We can create in the present, but not in the future.

The Waxing Moon is also in protective Cancer making us more fixated on home, family, and security issues.

Born On This Day: American author Harper Lee (To Kill A Mockingbird), in 1926, in Monroeville, Alabama.

“Sometimes the Bible in the hand of one man is worse than a whiskey bottle in the hand of (another)… There are just some kind of men who are so busy worrying about the next world they’ve never learned to live in this one, and you can look down the street and see the results.” H.L.

Hope it’s a good one! Be safe and well.

Cosmic Weather:

“Freedom lies in being bold.” Robert Frost

There’s a strong desire for “liberation” today, at least theoretically on paper, as the empowering Sun is making its annual conjunction with freedom-loving Uranus, the official planet of change, and the unexpected. This alliance is occurring in the steadfast sign of Taurus the Bull (money, possessions, and values), however, which, ironically, also tends to be more resistant or reluctant to incorporate change, even if it’s the kind that is self-initiated, as Taurus basically has a hard time letting go or parting with whatever it has tangibly accumulated.

On the plus side, though, we are, seemingly, day by day, gradually learning how to be more resilient, resourceful, and adaptable, in this new era of COVID-19, and today, it looks like we are also going to be receiving some new innovative strategies or “consciousness-raising downloads” on how to not only cope but to actually thrive in this whole new experimental (Uranian) universe. Sun-Uranus generally tends to make us more comfortable with tinkering around with things, copping new approaches, essentially summoning forth our inner Thomas Edison.

Additionally, communicator Mercury is squaring visionary Jupiter today. While this aspect can also inspire us to really reach for the stars, it can sometimes cause us to become overly confident and gloss over important details. So we might want to keep this in mind so we don’t get too far ahead of ourselves.

“The Devil is in the details, but so is salvation.” Hyman G. Rickover

Astrology April 25, 2020: Mercury Square Pluto, Pluto Stations Retrograde

daily astrology, insights, investigation, Mercury square Pluto, Pluto stations retrograde, power, transformation, truth

Cosmic Weather:

Even though it’s the weekend, we may still want to challenge ourselves to do a bit of heavy “mental lifting” today as we have the nurturing Moon now eruditely scurrying through curious Gemini (at 3:20 am) and Gemini’s ruler, intellectual Mercury, exactly squaring off with probing, investigative Pluto (at 3:36 am). This more intense, often obsessive Mercury-Pluto energy is especially good for detecting or ferreting out secret information/covert messages, exposing hidden weaknesses, or possibly uncovering hidden motivations. On the flip side, it could also raise awareness of privacy concerns. This astrological aspect is also sometimes linked with jaw-dropping, shocking plot twists.

Communicator Mercury also governs our speech or words and paired with riveting Pluto now our words may carry more dramatic impact or have an extra bite or zing to them. We may also be much more emotionally reactive now with respect to what we see, hear, or read, especially if we perhaps find the subject matter repugnant or repulsive or taboo, to some degree, which this type of cosmic energy also often seems to elicit. More extremist viewpoints may also capture our attention, at this time, or be put before us in the spotlight in some manner. Also, on the shadow side, there can be more of a tendency towards bullying, ridiculing, or jockeying for power or position, including possibly manipulating information as an attempt to further or strengthen our own self-interests.

“Until you realize how easy it is for your mind to be manipulated, you remain the puppet of someone else’s game.” Evita Ochel

Too, Pluto is associated with purging or removing whatever is outworn or expired and aligned with mental Mercury it could be that this is an excellent time to undertake efforts to rid or eradicate our psyches of some of what we might call “garbage-type thoughts” (our debilitating fears or miscellaneous prejudices, for instance) that all too often clutter or detract from our more wondrous sense of spirit or well-being or interfere with our ability for connectedness with others. Mercury-Pluto aspects are commonly linked with seeking psychotherapy or otherwise wanting to heal or fix what’s seemingly broken inside of us or around us.

Pluto is also stationing retrograde today (at 2:54 pm) suggesting that we are now subtly shifting our focus or attention away from the more concrete manifestations of outer transformation to the invisible realm of inner transformation, including presumably beginning to more seriously process or decode now the philosophical meaning or psychological impact of what has perhaps recently been drastically altered or reconfigured in our lives. Too, it’s always the deeper meaning that we assign to things that ultimately determine their lasting impact upon us. On another level, Pluto stationing retrograde may indicate a pullback of power or support. Pluto will stay retrograde until October 4.

Cosmic Weather:

“The beginning is the most important part of the work.” – Plato

With the empowering Sun now nestled in the latter degrees of adventurous Aries, the zodiacal sign of “personal new beginnings,” there appears to be more of an urgent desire now to want to push ourselves forward with even more vigor or energy so we can quickly get done many of the projects that are still remaining on our “to-do list,” before time runs out.

Today, the Waning Moon is also in progressive, humanitarian Aquarius, all day, perhaps supplying us with a more emotionally detached or objective perspective that also allows us to consider our lives or personal interests within the confines of a much broader social context. While Luna in Uranus-ruled Aquarius often enjoys or gravitates towards involvement in outlets that advance the collective as a whole, there is also still likely a strong desire for simultaneously preserving individual freedoms or liberties at this time.

Additionally, the Aquarian Moon is an excellent period for experimentation, scientific research, and or fashioning such things as social reforms or new protocols, especially since we also have the ruler of the Aries Sun, assertive Mars, still transiting through Aquarius.

certainty, daily astrology, decay, Moon in Capricorn, new growth, Sun square Pluto, uncertainty

Cosmic Weather:

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” Anais Nin

The illuminating Sun squaring transformational Pluto today (at 7:07 am) potentially underscores a more intense conflict or tension between wanting or seemingly needing to play by the old, established rule book, to some degree, in which many things are pretty much already known, quantified or controlled (Pluto in Capricorn), versus the desire to want to embrace a brand new playbook that is likely comprised of many moving parts advancing along uncertain or speculative trajectories, but also one that ultimately provides for the opportunity for promising new growth and unbounded possibilities (Sun in Aries). It could be, too, with a cautious, third-quarter Capricorn Moon today that we choose a path that incorporates or straddles both of these options depending upon what it is that is staring us in the face or what it is that we are trying to accomplish. We may also want to keep in mind that Luna, in her Last Quarter phase (exact at 6:56 pm), is more a time of pondering or reflecting on how things are rather than for taking any new immediate actions, although later, we will likely be taking new steps as an outgrowth of our present-day review/contemplation.

Meanwhile, the Sun-Pluto energy also will likely alert us to what is possibly decaying or breaking down around us so that we can act accordingly to either salvage things if that is still an option or maybe choose to simply scrap everything and start over. In some cases, we may also decide to just walk away from something or, in another scenario, certain elements in our life may pass away on their own. Too, it is likely that whatever comes our way, we will probably end up with a much deeper sense of our own personal power and purpose, including an increased awareness of our own level of resiliency. Sun-Pluto often serves to move us along to the next rung on the evolutionary ladder.

On the shadow side, Sun-Pluto energy can sometimes trigger power grabs or manipulative actions.

Cosmic Weather:

The nurturing Moon, now in its Waning Gibbous phase, remains in optimistic Sagittarius, the sign of the archer, during the day time, giving us yet another chance to buoyantly re-charge our emotional batteries, in part, by seeking out activities or outlets that supply us with a sense of higher purpose or meaning, or that speak to our noble dreams in some fashion. Later, when Luna moves into practical Capricorn (at 8:05 pm), we are more focused on our duties and or the logistical end of things, the specific “how-to” of manifesting our intentions, especially those that we set at the New Moon in Aries, on March 22nd, that are perhaps still lingering around us like a patch of thinning clouds on a distant horizon. One of the inherent powers of a crusty Capricorn Moon is that it is an excellent determiner of what has real viability, and what does not.

daily astrology, futuristic, Mercury enters Aries, Moon in Sagittarius, problem-solving

Cosmic Weather:

With the waning Moon traversing through futuristic Sagittarius, all day, and thinker Mercury also joining the Sun and Chiron in trail-blazing Aries (where it will remain until the 27th), our thoughts and emotions tend to be much more focused now on finding a way to determinedly “get on with our lives,” as both Aries and Sagittarius are direct-acting fire signs that prefer to take the lead in things and do not take too kindly to being held back by perceived or real-world restrictions or limitations.

Mercury in Aries can also be highly resourceful, energetic and passionate about making discoveries and coming up with brand new solutions to problems. On the shadow side, with Mercury here in the sign of the ram, there’s sometimes more of a tendency to be argumentative, to act too rashly or impulsively on our ideas, or in ways that are too self-centered.

Today, though, as Mercury flits into “start-me up” Aries (at 12:48 am) it is also going to be having a more serious, weighted discussion with taskmaster Saturn, in detached Aquarius (via a sextile aspect at 7:58 pm). Saturn will likely be admonishing the Winged Messenger to make sure, among other things, that he has his attractive facial mask properly attached, behind his ears, before he formally joins Mick Jagger on stage. 🙂

Actually, this Mercury-Saturn sextile is also possibly an opportunity for us to channel our own “inner Einstein” in the sense that Albert Einstein (who had a Pisces Sun) also had his brilliant Mercury in the sign of Aries and in close conjunction with Saturn in Aries; Mercury-Saturn aspects are often associated with a more disciplined mind and deep powers of concentration. Additionally, Mercury sextile Saturn allows us to effectively draw on our past experiences in decision-making. It is also an excellent influence to consult with trusted advisors or with mentors we admire or look up to.

Astrology April 7, 2020: Mars Square Uranus, A Libra Full Moon

daily astrology, freedom, Full Moon in LIbra 2020, individuality, Mars square Uranus, relationships

Cosmic Weather:

With impulsive Mars squaring rebellious Uranus, the planet of change (at 2:50 pm), it could very well seem like a bit of a roller-coaster ride for us today as the pace of our lives could suddenly quicken or be disrupted in some manner by this more high-voltage aspect. We also might be adding to the frenetic pace, ourselves, in the sense that we may suddenly be feeling more of a need now for freedom or liberation from the various perceived “confining elements” in our lives, during this highly uncharted period of time on our planet.

Fortunately, though, how we choose to respond to things is always in our control and, to that end, we are also, seemingly and thankfully, getting some timely assistance from the Universe now via intellectual Mercury’s sextile alignments with transformative Pluto (at 5:28 pm) and optimistic Jupiter (10:20 pm), aspects which can allow us to tap into, more effortlessly, the deeper meaning of things so that, ideally, we feel less daunted by any possible uncertainties or changes swirling around us, at present, in the outer realm.

Mercury-Pluto, in particular, can provide us with some very profound insights or wisdom bubbling up to us from our subconscious. We may also be more impacted by the power of word or speech now to turn our world around, including this possibly also being a time when we may feel more inclined or comfortable having very honest conversations on more intimate subjects.

Too, leave it to the “higher powers-that-be” to jampack way too much cosmic stuff into the confines of a single day for all of us to have to humbly deal with or sort out! 🙂 Not only do we have all of the aforementioned above going on, but we also have the biggest and brightest Full Moon of the year taking place tonight (at 10:35 pm). This so-called “Pink Moon” puts the self-assertive, independent Aries Sun opposite the more cooperative, relationship-focused Libra Moon, allowing us a chance to balance or integrate these two opposing forces/needs in some kind of satisfactory manner so, in a perfect world, we end up feeling more fully centered or at peace with ourselves. Full Moons also bring things (including our emotions) to a peak or culmination and can be special times of great inner clarity or awareness, although we may want to wait a few days before acting upon any of these newly-birthed realizations.

“I wanted a perfect ending. Now I’ve learned, the hard way, that some poems don’t rhyme, and some stories don’t have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what’s going to happen next.” Gilda Radner

We will grieve not, rather find
