Cosmic Weather:

“Follow effective action with quiet reflection. From the quiet reflection will come even more effective action.” – Peter Drucker

The confident, outgoing Leo Sun’s quincunx to dissolving Neptune in Pisces (5:29 pm) seems to suggest that we may fare better now by adopting more of an indirect or possibly even delayed approach/response to matters versus laying everything out in the open for all to see. This may be especially the case in instances in which we may already be harboring some inner doubt or ambivalence with respect to how to handle or present an issue. Neptune’s activated ray is also sometimes associated with clouding or disguising issues, which may wisely give us even more reason to perhaps pause or suspend things/operations until we know more of what we are dealing with.

Too, Luna is in her Waning Gibbous phase in Pisces and will be conjunct Neptune, just minutes after this quincunx occurs (5:54 pm); Moon-Neptune is typically thought to be a period best utilized for such things as quiet reflection or rest and relaxation; additionally, it can be a time when we feel more intuitive as well as creative and compassionate.

That said, Luna’s entrance into “start-me-up” Aries (7:02 pm) may find us ready, willing, and able to channel our inner trailblazer/pioneer.

Cosmic Weather:

“Only the heart knows how to find what is precious.” – Fyodor Dostoyevsky

Familiarity may be less likely to breed contempt with a Full Moon occurring in Moon-ruled Cancer (7:33 pm), the go-to sign for nurturing, safety, and comfort. A nostalgic domain that tenderly leaves a night light on for us to enter the subjective chambers of our mystifying emotions and heady imagination. Carl Jung once wrote: “Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”

Full Moons are thought to naturally endow us with greater awareness as what has been gradually building inside us (since the New Moon) is now suddenly released or awarded its angel wings for immediate, deft processing. Needless to say, this can be a great period for journalling, or formally capturing those aha moments.

Structuring Saturn and expansive Jupiter are also both favorably aligned to this final lunation of 2023, suggesting that we have a rich supply of maturity, practicality, and positivity to tap into as we carefully sort through or try to make sense of whatever it is that is being generously revealed to us now by the powers that be. Jupiter’s upbeat ray can also especially help us to minimize our fears by directing us to focus more on our faith or convictions.

“All the world is made of faith, and trust, and pixie dust.” – J.M. Barrie

Numerologically, 12-26-2023 reduces down to the master numbers of 8 and 9, with 8 signifying a display of power and strength and 9 suggesting completeness or ending of a cycle.

“The most important thing is this: to sacrifice what you are now for what you can become tomorrow.” – Shannon Alder

Balsamic Moon, born on this day, daily astrology, reflection

Cosmic Weather:

“I love the dark hours of my being. My mind deepens into them. There I can find, as in old letters, the days of my life, already lived, and held like a legend, and understood.” – Rainer Maria Rilke

Waning Luna – now in her Balsamic phase – shifted from showy Leo to nuts and bolts Virgo, early today (1:18 am), with a New Moon on tap for tomorrow night. This Moon phase is thought to be a premier time to ponder past moments with a hopeful eye to perhaps plucking away some jeweled insights that we can ideally use to make our lives shine brighter somehow in the stretch ahead. Especially advantageous for us now is the fact that the Moon is in professional film critic Virgo which can often help us to cut through a lot of the fluff at warp speed.

Luna also converses with Saturn Rx in Pisces, this morning (6:31 am), via an opposition aspect, suggesting some possible pushback should we go against “the rules” or not recognize or honor inherent limitations.

Luna also conjuncts Mercury Rx, late this afternoon (6:04 pm), with the Winged Messenger stationing direct on Friday. Talking about our feelings now or jotting them down in words may serve to usher in greater clarity. This may also be a good time to troubleshoot and find practical solutions or fixes to problems.

“It is better to solve one problem five different ways, than to solve five problems one way.” – George Pólya

Cosmic Weather:

We may be inspired to cast our gaze upon the transcendent realm, or contemplate our interconnectedness with the Universe, as the probing, investigative Scorpio Sun trines mystical Neptune in Pisces (11:24 am), the planet that symbolizes the dissolution of boundaries.

This flowing trine aspect also naturally tends to lend itself to healing rebirths or renewals.

“I am realistic – I expect miracles.” Wayne Dyer. (Dyer’s natal Taurus Sun was trine to Neptune in Virgo.)

Interestingly, Northwestern University researchers are also reporting today in the journal ‘Science’ that they may have found a breakthrough treatment for reversing paralysis in humans and repairing tissue after severe spinal cord injuries, which would definitely be huge life-changing news if it all pans out. Keeping fingers crossed!

*All times EST

On This Day in History: On November 12, 1968, the US Supreme Court, in Epperson versus Arkansas, declares unconstitutional an Arkansas law banning teaching evolution in public schools.

Astrologically, that day, pioneering Mars and progressive, futuristic Uranus were exactly conjunct in judicial Libra at 2 degrees – definitely a harbinger of change aspect! Philosophical Jupiter (which also governs the law and religion) was at 29 degrees of analytical Virgo (the critical anaretic degree) and was conjunct evolutionary Pluto at 27 degrees, suggesting the need to bring an ideological matter to a swift conclusion. Of course, there’s still some controversy, to this very day, over teaching evolution.)

Born On This Day: French Sculptor Auguste Rodin. He once so eloquently wrote:

“There are unknown forces in nature; when we give ourselves wholly to her, without reserve, she lends them to us; she shows us these forms, which our watching eyes do not see, which our intelligence does not understand or suspect.”

Hope It’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Astrology November 20, 2019: Mercury’s Direct, Plus Mars-Neptune Align

daily astrology, decision making, decluttering, Mars sesquidrate Neptune, Mercury stations direct in Scorpio, Moon in Virgo, motivation, reflection

Cosmic Weather:

Mercury is finally stationing direct (at 2:11 pm) today, after, what seems, for many of us, to have been an exceptionally long, 3-week retrograde period in intense, crisis-laden Scorpio, the sign of transformation or turning points. Mercury, which governs our thinking or thought processes, communication, and learning, as well as travel and transportation, is going direct at 11 degrees of Scorpio (it will remain in its shadow phase until December 7th).

Too, a note of caution here: even though Mercury is turning direct, we’re still not quite out of the tunnel yet!  We really need to give the Winged Messenger, at least a few more days, to get re-oriented again (in its direct motion), before moving forward with our plans, or making any major decisions. Generally, this is because, whenever a planet stations, a symbolic spotlight is put on the functions of that planet, and all that extra attention or fanfare can make it harder for us to get a clearer, or more objective handle, on the things associated with that heavenly body.

So, for example, with intellectual Mercury involved here, it’s possible that our thinking or ideas could be a bit skewed, in some way, now. Or, for instance, we also may have a more difficult time turning off our thoughts today – or possibly we may be overthinking things – especially in obsessive, one-track-minded Scorpio!

Too, turning inward and meditating today – connecting with that well of inner stillness – can be a positive and very good way to ground or balance ourselves now, so we feel more of a sense of inner peace or knowingness, our inner wisdom. Journaling might also be a very good thing to do, as a way of capturing what may have come up for us, during Mercury’s retrograde phase, or all that is coming up for us now, in the way of insights, ideas, messages from the deeper, or more intuitive levels, of our being.

We also have motivator Mars, the planet of assertion (in its first full day in its home turf of Scorpio), involved in a minor aspect (sesquiquadrate) with foggy Neptune in Pisces, which can be, on the shadow side, mildly disorienting, in the sense that it may sort of make us feel that it’s harder for us to act upon (Mars) our dreams (Neptune) effectively now, possibly because the path to realizing them just doesn’t appear all that clear, or really feel right to us (also a sign not to act upon them now!) Another possibility is we could, perhaps, feel immersed in a dream or fantasy that we just don’t want to let go of, for whatever reason. Or, it could be that we also have a nocturnal dream now that is very powerful for us, in some way, on an emotional level, that may also be wise for us to reflect upon, as it could be that this dream is offering us a special kind of guidance for our lives. A lot of times, dreams are important harbingers or indicators of our future.

Too, nurturing Luna is in tinkering Virgo, an earth sign, all day, so becoming involved in tangible activities that allow us to feel purposeful or useful, or that help us to maybe perfect a craft or a skill, can be very supportive or rejuvenating for us now. Included here, we may also want to spend some time tidying or straightening up our households. Sometimes, just organizing/decluttering the space around us can go a long way in making us feel more in control, more in charge, of our personal worlds.

“What I know for sure is that when you declutter – whether it’s on your home, your head, or your heart – it is astounding what will flow into that space that will enrich you, your life, and your family.” Peter Walsh

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon’s passage into “behind-the-scenes” Pisces (3:18 am EDT) suggests tapping into our inner resources instead of looking outward for the answers. The Moon’s soothing sextiles to abundant Jupiter (11:56 am EDT) and transforming Pluto (2:06 pm EDT) also indicates that we may have a plethora of hidden assets at our disposal that we can draw upon successfully now, if we are only willing to do a little mining. Too, it could be that employing a “soft touch” with others, is our wisest strategy today, especially perhaps on the professional front. Also, giving back to others and showing gratitude for our many blessings, most assuredly helps to multiply or increase our bounty.

COSMIC WEATHER:

“The problem with communication is the illusion that it occurred.” George Bernard Shaw

Isn’t that a wonderful quote? We think that we’re communicating, but in reality, we’re not. It’s all but a fantasy. A mirage. A product of our delusional, vulnerable minds. No one’s really listening to us. Or, vice versa. Not even our own mothers. 🙂

However, there is some hope that all this may begin to change today, that communications may start garnering some measure of respectability again, and that we can begin moving forward with our brilliant ideas, as messenger Mercury is finally stationing direct in “mildly manic” Aries (6:04 am EDT) after roughly a three-week retrograde cycle.

Generally, whenever Mercury stations direct, information that was earlier withheld or filtered from us, begins to appear. However, we are still well-advised to proceed cautiously now, and wait a few days before really acting on this newly-acquired knowledge. Too, what we should do now is use the next few days to seriously reflect upon all this new information that is coming our way. (Mercury will also not officially be out of its’ “shadow period,” back to the degree that it originally went retrograde at, until May 11th.)

Of course, nothing in life is ever simple. There are always unnerving complications. Today, is no exception. Mercury is stationing direct at 12 degrees of Aries exactly in opposition to delaying, restrictive Saturn at 12 degrees of partnership Libra. With Mercury-Saturn, we can experience communication blockages (just what we all wanted to hear, right?). We may also feel more serious and sensitive, and may even want to withdraw from others, in order to be by our lovable, lonesome selves. However, since Mercury-Saturn is great energy for focused concentration, this may not be such a bad idea to temporarily go into seclusion, especially if we have some important tasks to do that could use our undivided attention.

Too, the Moon is in “work till you drop” Capricorn, Saturn’s home turf, and she’s not really a happy camper there, forming squares to Saturn, Mercury Mars, and Jupiter. In the end, we likely “progress” today by being productive and responsible (Saturn). With that said, love goddess Venus is still in a conjunction with wild Uranus in spontaneous Aries, so things could also conceivably get a little interesting in the romance department, given the opportunity. Venus-Uranus helps to shatter our inhibitions.

COSMIC WEATHER:

“Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It’s the transition that’s troublesome.” Isaac Asimov.

This is the last day for energizer Mars in watery, reflective Pisces (enters Aries, the sign of its rulership, 12:51 am EDT Sat.) Also, this is the last full day for the emotional Moon in Pisces, as it also shifts into fiery, enterprising Aries tomorrow (7:17 am EDT), a time when the “pace of life” could dramatically quicken for many of us. The Moon and Mars will be joining the Sun, Mercury, Jupiter and Uranus in Aries.

Also, whenever Mars changes signs, we always want to pay closer attention to events in the world, as Mars can signal pivotal changes for the matters associated with the zodiacal sign it is entering (Mars provides momentum). For instance, when Mars entered Pisces this last time on February 23rd, is when oil prices suddenly started to surge. Pisces rules oil. Aries is more “confronting-type” energy associated with conflict and war (rules the military and law enforcement). Aries also rules adventure, record-setting and pioneering new territory. It additionally governs athletes and sports.

Too, we have a New Moon in Aries on Sunday, with New Moons signifying “new beginnings” and with it occurring in Aries, the official sign of “new beginnings,” we are effectively getting a “double-whammy” here. Assertive Mars will also be conjuncting unpredictable, wild card Uranus in Aries on Saturday, a planet also known for liberation and discovery, which is a good fit for the similar Aries-type energy it is deposited in.

Needless to say, today we are on the brink of a very highly-charged energy pattern, perhaps the most intense of the year. Aries is all about initiating action and propelling ourselves and our world forward, often at warp speed.

Today, we may want to use this “transitional” Piscean energy to make sure that we have all of our players ready for bat and have a clear idea of how we want to pitch this new Aries ballgame. In line with this, we will want to be putting the finishing touches on our intentions now to be released at the Aries New Moon this weekend.

“You don’t save a pitcher for tomorrow. Tomorrow it may rain.” Leo Durocher

“Happiness: We rarely feel it. I would buy it, beg it, steal it. Pay in coins of dripping blood for this one transcendent good.” Amy Lowell

Cosmic Word Of The Day: Transcendent

(Moon conjunct Neptune. Moon in Pisces.)

Transcendent: 1) going beyond ordinary limits; surpassing; exceeding 2) superior or supreme 3) Theology (of the Deity) transcending the universe, time

“The non-conforming Aquarius Moon has her monthly meet-up with mystical Neptune (6:10 am EST), before descending into Neptune-ruled fantasy Pisces (1:41 pm EST).

We are seeking more of a transcendent experience today, wanting to be free from the hustle and bustle, particularly the ramped-up drama unfolding in the early degrees of accountable Capricorn with Mercury, Mars, Pluto, and the North Node all strategically holed up there.

It is empowering for us to steal some time away to “go within.” To visit that calming inner sanctuary, and bathe reflectively in its soothing waters, before continuing on our soul’s more complex journey in the days ahead.

COSMIC WEATHER:

The Sentimental Moon leaves Idealistic Libra for Intense Scorpio (3:52 pm EDT) turning up the volume on our emotions.

Communicator Mercury conjuncts Serious Saturn in Relationship Libra (7:36 am EDT) inclining us to seek out substance over frills in our interactions.  With Mercury-Saturn, we want our words to carry maximum weight and impact.

Saturn, by itself, characteristically endows us with a strong sense of duty and responsibility. Saturn represents the work ethic and achievement. Mercury-Saturn, on the shadow side, can also trigger our fears and awareness of our personal limitations. With Saturn, we tend to be more acutely aware of our boundaries, our sense of separateness.

Venus, ruling money, art, beauty, music, romance, relationships, all the things that we love, also turns retrograde in Probing Scorpio today (3:05 am EDT), the sign of life, death, and rebirth. With Venus retrograde here, we are seeking “deeper” connections.  Deeper ties to both our past and present, and also, correspondingly, a more palpable sense of our own continuity and purpose. (Venus will be retrograde until November 18th.)

Symbolically, our lives are like great “Venusian works of art” in progress. Venus retrograde prods us to revisit and remotely observe some of what we have already painted or sculpted. We listen, once again, to the old songs that our hearts composed earlier. We  maybe recollect past relationships, retrace some of the kisses and hugs, recall some of the sorrows, awkward moments, the warm laughter that we shared together. The “retro viewpoint” can help us to garner new wisdom, insight, and inspiration about what we are currently facing and creating in the present moment with our lives. The past is essentially the yardstick we leverage to define ourselves and calculate our evolution.

Sometimes, too, Venus retrograde brings old lovers, old relationships, back into our lives.

On another level, with Venus retro in Scorpio, we are also more symbolically and theoretically linked with “great artists who have transitioned” beyond the Earth plane (Venus rules artists and performers). Scorpio energy connects us with”transitioning experiences.”

Just yesterday, for example, I got a telephone message from a friend telling me she had just lost her pet bird after 16 years. In my horoscope, Mars, the Great Activator or Trigger of events, was exactly conjunct my 8th house cusp in Scorpio, when I heard the news. This house  is associated with “endings” and death. My friend, who lost her bird, also has Pluto (Scorpio’s co-ruler) now exactly conjunct her 8th house cusp at 2 Capricorn.

Interestingly, Mental Mercury is now conjunct Karma Lord Saturn, in John Lennon’s old sign of Libra, making this perhaps a more fitting  time for us to mentally revisit and ponder the huge legacy that John, in particular, bequeathed to us. (It is John’s birthday, October 9th, and many events have been planned around the world to mark the event.)

Mercury-Saturn often denotes a mental focus on the past, on our roots or foundation. Sometimes this energy is also layered in with a touch of melancholy and sadness, due to Saturn’s heavier vibration and natural focus on loss and limitation. John would have been 70 years old tomorrow. John’s widow, Yoko Ono, will light the Imagine Peace Tower in Reykjavik, Iceland in his memory. Below is a link to the “Imagine Peace Tower Documentary.”
