COSMIC WATCH:

“You are today where your thoughts have brought you; you will be tomorrow where your thoughts take you.”  James Allen

Where have your thoughts been, the past three weeks, with Mercury “the thinker” retrograde? Have you maybe been reconsidering recent decisions, or reflecting on your goals? Today with Mercury stationing direct in “intuitive” Pisces we finally get cosmic clearance to begin acting on what we have been ruminating about lately. Mercury will also be in its “shadow phase” until April 22.

Meanwhile, the Moon in “solutions-oriented” Virgo today also prompts us to evaluate matters logically, although a morning trine to expansive Jupiter in Taurus (9:35 am EDT) does supply us with an overview of the big picture as well. Additionally, the Moon in Virgo is perennially our monthly invitation to “tidy things up.” Have nothing in your home that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful. —William Morris

Enjoy your Wednesday!

COSMIC WATCH:

The “warm” Leo Moon makes it easier for us to be magnanimous. Sweet Venus also sextiles idealistic Neptune. What we desire now in romance, and relationships, in general, may be more of a coming together on the “soul level,” with Neptune signifying “spiritualized love.” This is also a good day to give voice to the “thriving artist” within us, as Venus-Neptune is potentially highly creative energy. Neptune governs our imagination, and Venus rules our sense of beauty. The dramatic Leo Moon also provides us with solid footing to do things with extra flair.

Later, the Moon’s entrance into analytical Virgo supports us in examining the fine details of matters.  “The ultimate authority must always rest with the individual’s own reason and critical analysis.” Dalai Lama.

American women in combat, astrology for february 9 2012, Beatles, horoscope february 9 2012, John Lennon, Moon in Virgo, Paul McCartney, romance, US Military, Venus conjunct Uranus

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon in “problem-solving” Virgo all day gives us a distinct advantage regarding fixing or correcting whatever is broken or in disarray in our lives. This may extend to a desire to want to tidy up our surroundings by de-cluttering.

Lovable Venus is also conjunct wild, radical Uranus in pioneering Aries today, so the relationship sphere may hold an element of surprise or unpredictability. Sometimes this aspect can also serve as a catalyst for forging sudden, electrifying ties between people. A while back, when I was doing some astrological research, I discovered that Paul McCartney and John Lennon met for the first time on a day when Venus was conjunct Uranus in the entertainment sign of Leo. Uranus also rules change and revolt. No one, of course, knew back then that the seeds for a musical and cultural revolution were being sowed that very day with Venus and Uranus united in the sky.

“A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality.” John Lennon

In the News: The Pentagon unveiled plans today that would allow women to serve closer to the front lines of combat in some new roles, including working as an infantry person in a battalion. This story is fascinating from an astrological perspective as we have the Venus-Uranus conjunction today exact in Aries, the sign of the military. Venus also governs women and Uranus is the planet of change and equality.

astrology for february 8 2012, love, meticulous, Moon in Virgo, putting others first, resourceful, venus enters aries

COSMIC WATCH:

With “love goddess” Venus moving into “direct” Aries, we are more confident in our ability to get on base with our desires. That confidence boost, in turn, helps to yield even more passion and enthusiasm for what we want, sort of like what occurs when we stoke a fire. Too, what usually helps us to ultimately score a home run, especially when Venus is here in the “me-first” sign of the zodiac, is being able to display a genuine willingness to help others get their needs met as well, so they know that we are not soley interested in furthering our own agenda, which can sometimes be a shadow manifestation of Venus in Aries. Also, relationship experts tell us that one of the key ingredients that all relationships need to thrive, long-term, is a spirit of reciprocity, or give and take. “A bit of fragrance always clings to the hand that gives roses.” Chinese Proverb

The Moon’s entrance into “meticulous” Virgo today (12:33 pm EST) also provides us with the resourcefulness and thoroughness to successfully attend to whatever is on our plate. It also seems that a part of self-mastery is an ability to fully immerse ourselves into the minutia. “A man’s accomplishments in life are the cumulative effect of his attention to detail.” John Foster Dulles

astrology for december 16 2011, focused, frugal, Mars sesquiquadrate Jupiter, Moon in Virgo, productive, resourceful, US military leaving Iraq, war in iraq

COSMIC WATCH:

With motivator Mars, in resourceful Virgo, forming a 135-degree linkup with expansive Jupiter, in practical Taurus, we can get a lot accomplished today. Although, with the Moon also in Virgo, it behooves us to focus our efforts and perfect our skills instead of going off in too many directions, which is sometimes the risk with Mars-Jupiter. We may also want to be more conservative with our expenditures and avoid any impulse buying. Too, it can be very tempting to overspend now being that we are in the thick of the holiday-shopping season.

“Distrust and caution are the parents of security.” Benjamin Franklin

Today’s Affirmation:  I am a good steward of my resources and all that I need or desire generously flows to me.

Famous People with Moon in Virgo: Madonna, Billy Ray Cyrus

In the News: After nearly nine years, the U.S. formally ended its mission in Iraq on Thursday and prepared to leave the country. Fewer than 200 persons will reportedly stay on in Iraq as part of a diplomatic mission.

Astrologically, the Iraq War first began with Uranus, the planet of change and revolution, at the zero degree mark of vague, elusive Pisces, and supposedly the reason for going into the country was to locate weapons of mass destruction, which were never found. Now, with liberating Uranus stationing direct at the 0 degree mark of assertive Aries, which is also, ironically, the sign of war and the military, the U.S. military is finally leaving that country. Seems rather symbolic to me that the U.S. combat forces stayed in Iraq the entire time that Uranus was in dissolving, disintegrating Pisces, a sign that is often more problematic and hazy to navigate. Too, the political  landscape and daily life in Iraq has greatly changed, the past nine years (Uranus), and Saddam Hussein‘s regime is no more.

Sadly, the Iraq war has claimed more than 4,500 American soldiers’ lives, in addition to tens of thousands of casualties, at a cost of over $800 billion (from wsj.com).

astrology for october 22 2011, getting things in order, healing, horoscope for october 22 2011, Moon in Virgo, Moon trine Jupiter, Moon trine Pluto, organization, refurbishing projects, self-pampering

COSMIC  WATCH:

The Moon’s monthly shift into organizing and purifying Virgo (10:42 am EDT) is our merry little cue to put more order and cleanliness in our lives. Refurbishing or renovating projects are also encouraged with the Virgo Moon’s magical trine to transforming Pluto (7:28 pm EDT) in goal-oriented Capricorn. Moon-Pluto is potentially very healing energy as well. Also, it is outstanding for arriving at sudden, emotional breakthroughs, partly because Pluto aligns us with our subconscious side. Later, the Moon’s harmonious trine to expansive Jupiter, in self-indulgent Taurus (8:56 pm EDT), gives us a green light to engage in all manner of self-pampering. This influence can also help to put us in a more jovial, lighthearted mood.

One possible storm cloud on the horizon today: Lovable Venus in passionate Scorpio is forming a 135-degree linkup with free-spirited Uranus in spontaneous Aries. Venus-Uranus often equates with our wanting to do our own thing, regardless of the costs. Of course, engaging in that type of behavior always carries corresponding risks. This influence can also incline us to seek out more unusual recreational or social outlets, perhaps as a sure flight from boredom.

COSMIC WATCH:

“Those who are free of resentful thoughts surely find peace.” Buddha

With the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Saturn all aligned in diplomatic Libra now, the sign of “the other,” our aim is to forge harmonious, working relationships with our fellow man. However, we may find this goal is put to the test today as we also have self-assertive Mars in proud Leo forming a quinqunx to controlling Pluto in calculating Capricorn which can, on the shadow side, incline us to selfishly pursue our agendas at all cost, regardless of the outcome or consequences to others. Of course, cultivating self-control and being willing to extend an olive branch, if needed, are two surefire strategies that can keep us in the winner’s circle.

Also, the Moon remains in perfecting Virgo all day, affording us a grand chance to properly tidy up, in case there are any misfires.

COSMIC WATCH:

“Never try to solve all the problems at once — make them line up for you one-by-one.” Richard Sloma

The waning Moon’s entrance into correcting Virgo (12:50 am EDT) gives us a desire to want to fix whatever is broken or in need of repair. Intellectual Mercury’s ingress into balancing Libra, where it will stay until October 13, also makes a case for fully considering other’s viewpoints or ideas before rendering our decisions. Although today, it may be more challenging to proceed as planned, as the illuminating Sun is forming a volatile opposition to freedom-loving, jittery Uranus in self-willed Aries (8:15 pm EDT), which can find us restlessly wanting to skirt the rules, or at least, test the limits. Or, we may meet up with more recalcitrant types or experience wild, erratic behavior from others.

Uranus, as a catalyst for change and revolution, always helps to keep us on our toes by introducing unexpected elements or factors into the equation. It is probably a very good thing that the Moon is in analytical Virgo today, as this should help us to ultimately gain the upper hand over whatever is in a state of flux around us now. Too, optimally, Sun-Uranus can serve to align us with our “inner genius,” as Uranus can denote brilliance, sudden breakthroughs or innovation. Uranus, as the higher octave of Mercury, formally governs our intuition and is the planet that rules technology and science.

COSMIC WATCH

“Productivity is never an accident. It is always the result of a commitment to excellence, intelligent planning, and focused effort.” Paul J. Meyer

This is a day when we may be able to make major inroads with respect to our “to-do lists,” as we not only have an efficient, hardworking Virgo Moon, we also have enterprising Mars, in adaptable Gemini, forming a harmonious trine to productive Saturn in balancing Libra. Saturn governs our sense of duty, self-discipline, and powers of concentration.

Too, Mars trine Saturn is not only an aspect of accomplishment, it can also serve to help stabilize our circumstances. Also, positive Mars-Saturn aspects often coincide with our being recognized for our past efforts (Saturn is linked with karma).

Accordingly, this may be an excellent day for us to detail our professional accomplishments with those who are higher up in the chain of command. Also, we may want to make known to these same individuals our long-term goals and ambitions. Saturn symbolizes persons in authority, as well as seniors. Saturn is also associated with tradition, and Mars-Saturn generally tends to favor using more conventional methods to getting ahead, although Mars in Gemini can also be very versatile and experimental, so we have a little bit of flexibility here.

Interestingly, it was announced today that the South Korean city of Pyeongchang will host the 2018 Winter Olympics, bringing the prestigious games to a new region of Asia. Mars is the planet that rules sports and athletics. Perhaps its placement in curious, inquisitive Gemini is why the traditional hierarchy of the Olympics Committee (denoted by Saturn) decided to go with something different here, on this Mars trine Saturn day. (From wsj.com)

Also, another possible manifestation of this same aspect: For the first time, President Obama (Saturn figure) started fielding questions on Twitter today from “Tweeps.” The pioneering Mars in Gemini (the sign of communication) trine to Saturn symbolizing here the “opening of new doors of communication” with a prominent authority figure (Saturn).

Famous people with Mars trine Saturn: Marilyn Monroe, Andy Griffith, Leonardo Da Vinci, Sinclair Lewis, Annie Lennox

Do you keep a daily “to-do list?” If so, do you reward yourself when you successfully complete what’s on that list?

Personal Note: Now that I have Mercury, Venus and the Sun transiting my 4th house of the home and family in Cancer, I get a chance to play the role of “doting aunt” for a while. Below is a link to “Buckman Film Academy,” which is my niece, Sarah Nagy’s, exclusive film school for children in Portland, Oregon. COSMIC WATCH:

“Eventually you can get into the nuts and bolts of reality: nurturing, caring, and getting along.” Jody Watley

Love Goddess Venus enters self-protective, security-conscious, “Cancer the Crab,” the sign of home and family today. She will stay in Cancer until July 28th. Venus in Cancer inspires our deeper nurturing and caring impulses, and also heightens our desire for nesting and privacy.

Venus is also trine idealistic Neptune, in tender-hearted Pisces, making us extra forgiving, as well as more “fantasy-prone” in romance. This is a highly creative aspect that is excellent for any activity that calls for the full employment of our imagination. Many artists, musicians, writers, film-makers, and dancers will often have Venus-Neptune aspects prominent in their horoscopes, including the late Hans Christian Andersen, the Danish “fairy tale writer,” famous for his children’s stories.  Too, Venus trine Neptune is a classic aspect of “fairy tale romance,” so there’s a nice, synchronistic tie-in here.

We addtionally have intellectual Mercury in dramatic Leo making a fortuitous trine with brilliant Uranus in adventurous Aries. Uranus governs genius and intuition, so it’s possible that today will provide fertile ground for a plethora of “aha moments” to occur.

The Moon will also be in theatrical, glamorous Leo all day, favorable for parades and other “Fun Fourth” celebrations. Later tonight, she will shift into immaculate, attentive Virgo (9:16 pm EDT) to tidy everything up.

Famous people with Venus in Cancer: Meryl Streep, Clint Eastwood, Cameron Diaz, Lena Horne, Martin Sheen.

Happy Fourth of July!
