Astrology October 11, 2011: Full Moon in Aries

COSMIC WATCH:

There’s a potent Full Moon in “self-discovery” Aries tonight (10:06 pm EDT), activating 18 degrees of the sign. Full Moons present us with a chance for “full illumination.” They are a time when previously hidden or concealed elements suddenly get a chance to vividly parade before our conscious awareness in full, panoramic view. Deep insights can accordingly be gleaned in this manifestation/disclosure process. Sometimes, these revelations can even be a bit shocking, when ghostly skeletons suddenly emerge from secret, dark closets, imploring us to fully resuscitate them, and give them captive audience, a final time.

Too, there is often a keen desire to want to act quickly on whatever has been presented to us on our mind’s silvery screen during a Full Moon lunation.  Although, it is often wise to let these new epiphanies gel for a few days, before putting their legacy into motion.

A Full Moon occurs when the Moon is exactly opposite the Sun. In this case, the Sun is now passing through balancing Libra, the diplomatic sign of “the other.”  This Full Moon is spotlighting, therefore, the need for independent self-action and self-promotion (Aries)  vs. the need for partnering up (Libra). Ideally, we will want to strive for some sort of harmonious balance now between these two realms. Too, with the Libra Sun applying to a one-degree conjunction with taskmaster Saturn, it is highly unlikely that we will be able to escape our duties or obligations to others now, and go it alone, as Aries is naturally poised to do, since Saturn represents our scope of commitments and earthly karma.

Because serious Saturn also archetypically symbolizes our worries and fears, and sense of loss or limitation, it is possible now that with this Full Moon we will be made more aware of the shadow side of our nature, and as a result, hopefully be given clarity regarding what steps we can take to help assuage or rise above it. Of course, often this healing or ascension process begins by simply facing or acknowledging that there is, indeed, a bedeviled valley within us, a more complex region full of overgrown weeds and broken dreams, that is also very rich fodder for self-growth, and divine wisdom and understanding, once we come to fully embrace it, and own it, and willingly till its soil under the majestic moonlight. Let the spooky skeletons know that we are not afraid of them one bit, so that they may rest in peace. Too, the Aries Full Moon always delights in a good conquest and show of bravado, even if it is with our own inner demons.

“Nothing in the universe can travel at the speed of light, they say, forgetful of the shadow’s speed.” Howard Nemerov

Full Moon in Aries activities: forging ahead with new, personal pet projects, doing something courageous or daring, taking risks, pioneering, taking bold stances, assuming new challenges, reveling in spontaneity, involvement in sports or athletics, hunting, automobile racing.

Happy Full Moon Blessings!

Astrology October 10, 2011: Venus Quinqunx Uranus

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon’s shift into adventurous Aries (8:57 am EDT) favors exploring new worlds, starting new projects, adopting new strategies.  We may need to be careful, though, that we don’t act too impulsively without considering the full consequences of our behavior, as the Moon is making its monthly conjunction with rebellious Uranus (12:58 pm EDT), which can invoke quirkier, more erratic reactions from us.

Romantic Venus, newly deposited in passionate Scorpio, is also forming a quinqunx to wild card Uranus today. This aspect can spawn a craving for more excitement and independence in our relationships and social life, although it can be a destabilizing factor, if we venture too far down the indiscretion pathway.  This alignment can also find us forging ties with types we normally would not be attracted to. Of course, Luna is also leading up to its more volatile, Full Moon phase, late tomorrow (10:06 pm EDT). Full Moons tend to magnify our emotions and moods, especially in spontaneous-acting Aries.

This evening, the Moon’s square to controlling Pluto in authoritative Capricorn (7:06 pm EDT) can place some formidable roadblocks across our trail. However, in lieu of issuing ultimatums or dictates, we may find that by simply altering or recalibrating our responses, in a cooperative way, we still may be able to deftly spread our sphere of worldly influence and magically grow our kingdoms. Moon-Pluto is also an excellent time for purging or phasing out matters, with Pluto governing the process of elimination.

“Blessed is the influence of one true, loving soul on another.” George Eliot

Astrology October 5, 2011: Aquarius Moon Sextiles Uranus

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon exits “traditionalist” Capricorn for “anything goes” Aquarius (11:19 am EDT), encouraging us to fashion more spontaneous, original responses to our environment. This is especially the case when the Moon sextiles Uranus, the innovative ruler of Aquarius (3:27 pm EDT), which is deposited in pioneering Aries. Rolling out new methodologies, cultivating new approaches or strategies, engaging in brainstorming, are all suggested entrees on today’s cosmic menu.

Aquarius is also the sign of humanitarian interests and group involvement, making today favorable for immersion in any activities or causes that have the net impact of collectively lifting all of us up.  Later, the Moon’s semi-sextile to healing Pluto (8:46 pm EDT) indicates the evening hours hold a fair measure of regenerative potential. Perhaps a good time then to get in touch with our deeper motivations or feelings, with Pluto symbolizing here, the gateway to the subconscious realm.

“The regeneration of society is the regeneration of society by individual
education.” Jean de la Bruyere.

Political News:  Republican Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey made it official yesterday at a press conference that he will not be running for U.S. President in 2012, citing that “now is not my time.” He also said that he wanted to honor his commitment to the people of New Jersey. Interestingly, at the time of his announcement on Tuesday, the Capricorn Moon, which is associated with one’s professional ambitions or aspirations, and also one’s sense of duty and responsibility, was applying to a potent square to “declining” Saturn in Libra, the sign of the public.  As I mentioned in my blog yesterday, Moon square Saturn energy tends to be more restrictive in nature, and we often tend to erect barriers with others under this influence. Governor Christie opting here, in this case, to say “no” to the party members (Libra) urging him to run. Also, apparently “feeling duty-bound” (Saturn) to the people of his state. Saturn governs our commitments to others.

Enjoy your Wednesday!

Astrology October 4, 2011: Moon Squares Saturn

Tags

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon is in practical, utilitarian Capricorn today potentially empowering us to “get it done.” The focused Capricorn Moon helps to endow us with more of a sense of duty and discipline. It can also serve to rocket our ambitions.

The Moon’s square to limiting Saturn in balancing Libra (2:53 pm EDT) may also possibly find us wanting to discard whatever is non-essential in our lives; although we may find that tossing aside or shrugging off aspects on the relationship front could get a little messy or complicated. We may want to strive for cooperation and understanding instead.

We may also need to detach from our sensitivities and not take any criticism to heart. Or, for that matter, not dish any out. The Moon-Saturn energy tends to be more separatist in nature and can find us defensively erecting boundaries in a bid to wall others out. Sometimes we can do this, too, in the guise of biting or hurtful remarks.

Astrology October 3, 2011: Mars Squares Jupiter

Tags

, , , , , , , , ,

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon shifts from adventurous Sagittarius into controlled, responsible Capricorn (4:16 am EDT) although we still may be a little “over the top” today, as we have energizer Mars in ostentatious Leo forming a square to excessive Jupiter (the ruler of Sagittarius) in self-indulgent Taurus. Mars-Jupiter aspects tend to correlate with our going overboard. Or, wanting to do things on a lavish scale. Fascinatingly, Jupiter is also associated with royalty and when we had both Mars and Jupiter exactly conjunct in Aries, last spring, is when we had the elaborate Royal Wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Historically, Mars-Jupiter aspects are also linked with fanaticism or overzealous behavior, as we can become much more impassioned (Mars) about our beliefs or philosophy of life (Jupiter) with this influence.  Of course, with Mars ruling the aggressive urge, there is also the potential for our “martial impulses” to get out of hand, especially with the more frictional square alignment. Accordingly, it may be wise to keep ourselves on a fairly short leash today and to make a point to remember, and to display, our Libra manners.

Another complicating factor today is mental Mercury is also forming a 135-degree link to psychedelic Neptune which can blur or skew our thought processes.  The best advisory here may be to go with what is most logical for us to do and to avoid, altogether, the “wishful thinking” zone.

“Stop the habit of wishful thinking and start the habit of thoughtful wishes.” Mary Martin

Astrology September 27, 2011: New Moon in Libra

Tags

COSMIC WATCH:

“Sometimes two people need to step apart and make a space between that each might see the other anew, in a glance across a room or silhouetted against the moon.” Robert Brault

Today’s New Moon in partnership Libra, the sign of the scales (7:10 am EDT), affords us a perfect chance to grow or expand our relationships. Or, to maybe tweak or fine tune them.  Some of us may even be weighing some major revamping or restructuring in this area as the New Moon is opposing dynamic, change agent Uranus and also squaring transforming, insightful Pluto, two heavy hitters with some legacy for notably reshaping the playing field around us.

Justice seeking Libra, as a quality of experience, naturally aims to balance or harmonize  matters. But, with the Sun, Moon and also thinker Mercury now closely aligned with these two outer planets in an energizing, groundbreaking, cardinal T-square, we may discover that we have to crisscross some unfamiliar terrain now, perhaps connect with some new people, for instance, if we are going to move forward.  In the whole process, the Libra “juggling act,” could get pretty complicated and require advanced skills to keep all the diplomatic balls in the air.

The New Moon is also getting favorable assist from galvanizing Mars in proud, authoritative Leo the Lion. This should help to cloak us in a robe of self-confidence and give us the courage to make the bold moves that may be required of us so that we can evolve and go to the next level. Too, changes that we initiate now may have ramifications for our careers, as altering Pluto is in professional, corporate-minded Capricorn. Along a similar vein, some relationship changes now may be a direct result of career pressures or concerns that we are feeling.

Also with this New Moon, Libra’ s ruler, Venus, which governs love, money and values, and our power of attraction,  is applying to a conjunction with stabilizing Saturn, a planet that is exalted in Libra. This suggests that whatever we do put into place now will have very solid underpinnings and will likely last. Venus-Saturn is a quality of energy that is very loyal and enduring. Too, the house that the new Moon falls in, in our personal horoscopes, is the specific area of life in which we may be laying a new relationship foundation. Or, at the very least, focusing on relationships tied to that sector. Each house in the horoscope governs a department of life.

Moon in Libra activities: Dating, socializing and meeting new people, entertaining or hosting parties, attending cultural events, shopping for items of beauty or adornment, undergoing beauty treatments, redecorating, seeking justice.

New Moon blessings to you. Enjoy your Tuesday!

Astrology September 26, 2011: Mars Quinqunx Pluto

COSMIC WATCH:

“Those who are free of resentful thoughts surely find peace.” Buddha

With the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Saturn all aligned in diplomatic Libra now, the sign of “the other,” our aim is to forge harmonious, working relationships with our fellow man. However, we may find this goal is put to the test today as we also have self-assertive Mars in proud Leo forming a quinqunx to controlling Pluto in calculating Capricorn which can, on the shadow side, incline us to selfishly pursue our agendas at all cost, regardless of the outcome or consequences to others. Of course, cultivating self-control and being willing to extend an olive branch, if needed, are two surefire strategies that can keep us in the winner’s circle.

Also, the Moon remains in perfecting Virgo all day, affording us a grand chance to properly tidy up, in case there are any misfires.

Astrology September 25, 2011: Sun Opposes Uranus, Mercury in Libra

Tags

, , , , , , , , ,

COSMIC WATCH:

“Never try to solve all the problems at once — make them line up for you one-by-one.” Richard Sloma

The waning Moon’s entrance into correcting Virgo (12:50 am EDT) gives us a desire to want to fix whatever is broken or in need of repair. Intellectual Mercury’s ingress into balancing Libra, where it will stay until October 13, also makes a case for fully considering other’s viewpoints or ideas before rendering our decisions. Although today, it may be more challenging to proceed as planned, as the illuminating Sun is forming a volatile opposition to freedom-loving, jittery Uranus in self-willed Aries (8:15 pm EDT), which can find us restlessly wanting to skirt the rules, or at least, test the limits. Or, we may meet up with more recalcitrant types or experience wild, erratic behavior from others.

Uranus, as a catalyst for change and revolution, always helps to keep us on our toes by introducing unexpected elements or factors into the equation. It is probably a very good thing that the Moon is in analytical Virgo today, as this should help us to ultimately gain the upper hand over whatever is in a state of flux around us now. Too, optimally, Sun-Uranus can serve to align us with our “inner genius,” as Uranus can denote brilliance, sudden breakthroughs or innovation. Uranus, as the higher octave of Mercury, formally governs our intuition and is the planet that rules technology and science.

Astrology September 22, 2011: Mercury, Venus and Jupiter Align

Tags

, , ,

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon remains in nurturing, receptive Cancer, for most of the day, affording us perhaps a perfect outlet to display more caring and feeling. This is generally viewed as a very healing placement for Luna.

One thing that we may want to cultivate today, however, is possibly practicing some measure of moderation or temperance. This is because both thinker Mercury and pleasure-seeking Venus are forming more challenging aspects to extravagant Jupiter, in financial Taurus, which may incline us to go a bit overboard, especially in our spending. We are also probably wise not to overpromise or overcommit ourselves today, as we possibly could be getting in over our head.

Later, the Moon’s ingress into kingly Leo (9:56 pm EDT) is our cue to assume our rightful, respectable seat on the throne and exert our personal power and influence over the next couple of days. 🙂

Astrology September 18, 2011: Venus Squares Pluto, Mars in Leo

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon’s entrance into chatty Gemini (4:06 am EDT) facilitates communication, fosters a climate of learning, and enhances our natural curiosity about our environment. Relationship Venus also forms an exact square to insightful, intense Pluto (9:05 pm EDT), the ruler of our subconscious, which may help to shed light on more of the complex issues of our relationships. An especially good day to glean an awareness of the deeper motivations that are driving our desires and passions.

Self-assertive Mars also enters proud, dramatic, Leo the Lion (9:51 pm EDT), which should be a boost to our self-confidence, ego and creativity. This is a very entertaining placement for Mars and can help to make us more colorful and charismatic. Mars stays in Leo until November 11. Some famous people with Mars in Leo: George Clooney, Cher, Jennifer Lopez.
