With the Moon deposited in “individualistic” Aquarius all day, we are cosmically cleared to connect the dots in any way we see fit. 🙂 Additionally, we may want to go a tad easier on ourselves today, if we are finding it a little more difficult to put things in motion. With motivator Mars still doing its stationing retrograde dance in Virgo, it’s understandable that our energy may be off a bit.

COSMIC WATCH:

The New Moon in “friendly, offbeat” Aquarius presents new opportunities for growing our friendships, widening our social circle, involving ourselves with humanitarian pursuits. We may also want to do something exciting and different today that we have not done before.

Motivator Mars, the planet of action, is also stationing retrograde in analytical Virgo. This signals a period of review regarding what we have spearheaded or initiated in the last few months. Too, it could be that some of us may be feeling a loss of momentum or enthusiasm now for certain projects in our lives. It may be that we need to revisit whether we should continue on with these things, re-assessing their payoff for us. We will also want to check to see what house (or area of life) that Mars is moving through in our personal chart, as that is where we will likely be needing to temporarily pause or reset matters. Mars will be retrograde until April 13th.

COSMIC WATCH:

Some of us may feel like we are sputtering around in the darkness today, weighed down by our burdens and responsibilities, and also by our past (Sun square Saturn). However, when we remember that all we have to do is metaphorically “flip a switch” inside, (i.e. shift our thinking), suddenly a new, illuminated reality can begin to emerge for us at any moment. Hopefully, a brighter reality with more open doors. Sun-Saturn is often a timely period for seriously assessing our current lot and weighing our future possibilities.

The Moon in “big picture” Sagittarius today also encourages us to prolifically “wish upon a star,” regardless of how dim or bright we perceive our present situation to be. Life Coach, Martha Beck, wrote a best-selling book entitled, Steering By Starlight, in which she discusses hooking up with your own “North Star” within. The inspiring North Star concept reminds me of the visionary Sagittarius Moon a shine at her very best. We are wanting so much to “believe in the dream” when the Moon is in this sign. Yet, with the Sun-Saturn energy, we may also be needing to refine that dream at least a tad today. Or, perhaps be willing to “adjust our steering” to get to it. 🙂

Occasionally, with the Sun-Saturn aspect (exact today), we decide to let go of our old agendas, old goals, and choose to move into another direction, as alluded to in my daily horoscope. Sometimes we reposition ourselves after seeing the inevitable “writing on the walls.” For instance, this morning, the 137-year old Kodak Corporation, also filed for bankruptcy protection after fiscally struggling for the past several years.

We shift into more of a “we” mindset with the Moon’s descent into relationship Libra (8:29 am EST).  Libra’s ruler, sweet Venus, also dives into the compassionate waters of Pisces today (12:48 am EST) where she will seductively swim until February 8. In dreamy Pisces, Venus helps to wet our appetite for fantasy and “fairy-tale romance,” making us more willing and receptive to the idea of tearing down our crusty relational walls in order to experience a feeling of total oneness or bliss with our beloved. Of course, on the flip side, this desire for a removal of boundaries can also make us more vulnerable emotionally, as our tender root system is exposed.

The “goddess of love and money” is also making a soothing sextile to expansive, philosophical Jupiter, inspiring us to attach a higher meaning or significance to our alliances, while simultaneously stoking our generosity and optimism. In astrology, Venus-Jupiter alignments are considered to be highly fortuitous in nature and can help to deliver to us the abundance we are seeking, either in a real literal sense or on a symbolic level. These two planets together can also heighten our experience of pleasure. On the topic of pleasure, Euripides, the Greek playwright, said, “The greatest pleasure of life is love.” The Irish poet, Oscar Wilde, also stated that, “an inordinate passion for pleasure is the secret of staying young.”

The Moon’s monthly opposition to non-conforming Uranus (10:29 am EST) may additionally signal that we need to take some kind of action today that sets us apart from the crowd and allows us to display our originality and brilliance. Later, the Moon’s square to hidden Pluto (9:50 pm EST) prompts us to “look within” for the answers.

With the Moon still hanging out in “Hollywood Leo” we are naturally drawn to the spotlight. Although we may find that our star shines even brighter when we also allow others the same chance to grab some of the glory. This may be especially applicable when the authoritative Leo Moon aligns with controlling Pluto (3:59 pm EST), a time when a more cooperative, integrative approach is likely a savvy strategy to placate all egos and preserve the peace at the same time.
