(Today’s Planetary Aspects: Venus trine Uranus; Moon square Neptune; Moon in Sagittarius.)

Cosmic Quote of the Day: “Sometimes we have to meet people where they are, Ollie. Honor their desires, regardless of our own.” Tess Hilmo, With a Name like Love

It can be a very freeing experience, for all of us, when we find a way to suspend our expectations and judgments of others, and just allow them to gracefully be who they are. One thing that can also help out here is to try to really understand where another person is coming from before forming an opinion of them.

Today’s Energy:

The Moon is in adventurous Sagittarius all day.

The Sagittarius Moon squares idealistic Neptune at 5:12 pm. It may be hard to come down from the clouds now.

Venus trines Uranus, 2:26 am. Uranus has a freeing impact on the Goddess of Love. We seek out novelty or newness in our relationships, and in our leisure activities. This influence also favors creativity and group expression. It will remain in effect for a couple of days.

* All times EDT.

(Today’s Planetary Aspects: Moon square Jupiter; Moon conjunct Saturn; Mercury quinqunx Pluto; Moon in Scorpio v/c at 9:50 pm; Moon enters Sagittarius, 11:21 pm. All times EDT.)

Cosmic Quote of the Day: “To be without some of the things you want is an indispensable part of happiness.”  Bertrand Russell

Much of the time in our culture, we equate happiness and contentment with having more of what we want. Yet, sometimes, an empty cup can be a good thing because it gives us a chance to brew up something new and wildly different.

Today’s Energy:

The Moon’s square to expansive Jupiter in Leo (6:41 am) could possibly hijack our sense of reality and get us caught up in our dreams. Any “over the top” behavior is a real possibility now.

The Moon’s annual monthly conjunction to serious Saturn (9:50 pm) does act as an effective antidote to the Moon Jupiter square, bringing us back swiftly to the steady drumbeat of reality. But, it could also work to blot out our perspective if we focus too much on what is missing in our life, and forget to focus on all the positives that we have going on. With this last aspect, the Moon also goes void-of-course in mysterious Scorpio until 11:21 pm when it enters upbeat Sagittarius.

Intellectual Mercury quinqunx controlling Pluto can get us a little too preoccupied with our thoughts. If we recognize that we are obsessing about something, that should be a clear signal to us to take a time out and regroup.

To Say Goodbye

(Today’s Planetary Aspects: Moon trines Neptune, 9:01 am; Moon sextiles Pluto, 6:06 pm; The Moon is in releasing Scorpio all day; Mercury finishes its shadow period today at 13 degrees of Gemini. All times are EDT.)

Cosmic Quote of the Day: “Thank God I found the GOOD in goodbye” Beyonce Knowles

Finding the GOOD in goodbye is both an enlightening and uplifting concept because, on the one hand, it propels us to examine the upside aspects of a parting (Scorpio) – something that we might, otherwise, be tempted to forego. Secondly, it blesses or attaches a positive vibration or sentiment to whomever or whatever we are saying goodbye to.

About Today’s Energy: The Moon in Scorpio adds an element of depth and complexity to our perceptions and interactions. An early morning trine to intuitive Neptune (9:01 am) also helps us to adeptly tune into other people’s feelings and desires. Later, the Moon’s sextile to influential Pluto (6:06 pm) can positively re-acquaint us with a sense of our own power and capability, which can, in turn, motivate us to tackle more challenging tasks.  Too, ideally included in this itinerary will be finding some time to partake in de-cluttering or refurbishing projects, which Scorpio energy is so characteristically famous for. This is also an excellent period for sharing intimacy with another, channeling our inner detective, going antiquing, or having a past life reading.

The Ship

(Today’s Planetary Aspects: The Moon is void-or-course in balancing Libra until 1:57 pm when it enters transforming Scorpio; Moon trines initiating Mars in protective Cancer at 5:01 pm. All times posted are for EDT.)

Cosmic Quote of the Day: “Don’t wait for your ship to come in, swim out to it.” Cathy Hopkins

When we seize the moment, or are otherwise engaged with life, we tend to feel better about ourselves. The mere act of taking action also signals to the subconscious that we interested in our lives, and our future. Taking initiative is also a marvelous way for us to bolster our self-esteem and confidence.

Today, the Moon is void-of-course in Libra until 1:57pm, so for the first half of the day, it is best to continue with or finish projects that we already have in the works, or to use this time period for pausing or reflection. Once the Moon enters investigative Scorpio at 1:57 pm, we have the green light to go ahead with new endeavors. The Scorpio Moon imparts a strong desire to get at the truth. We are also more poised to be led by our passions at this time.

At 5:01 pm, the waxing Scorpio Moon forms a flowing trine to energizing Mars, which is newly installed in security-oriented Cancer. This harmonious aspect may motivate us to take swift, determined action toward our goals. This invigorating influence also gives us a wonderful chance to show off or display our leadership ability. On a personal level, this energy is excellent for building emotional rapport with others as well as for mending or reconciling our relational ties.

(Today’s Planetary Aspects: The Moon in social Libra trines curious Mercury, squares controlling Pluto, sextiles lovable Venus, opposes rules breaker Uranus, and sextiles philosophical Jupiter. The Moon is Void of Course at 7:22 pm until 1:57 pm on Friday when it enters investigative Scorpio. All times posted are for EDT.)

Cosmic Quote of the Day: “Nothing is ever lost by courtesy. It is the cheapest of pleasures, costs nothing, and conveys much.” Erastus Wiman

Polite behavior is something that most of us appreciate. It is a universal way to quickly convey respect for a person. Studies have also shown that politeness helps to put people at ease, which can go a long way in fostering strong relationships. Today’s gracious Moon in Libra naturally affords us a chance to put on our goodwill ambassador hat, although we may still face a couple diplomatic hurdles along the way via Luna’s square to intense Pluto (7:07 am), which can bring sudden urges to the forefront. Also, the Moon opposes erratic Uranus around the dinner hour (6:20 pm), a time when it might be wise to cut others more slack to do their own thing.

The Moon’s last aspect of the day, a warm sextile to generous Jupiter in Leo (7:22 pm), potentially helps spawn a desire to want to attend to the welfare or betterment of others. It can also put us in a relaxing mood in which we want to seek out fun and pleasurable activities, such as going to a night club, or maybe taking in a movie. Too, it’s a positive period for dealing with women. Additionally, our ability to be persuasive with others, is also enhanced.

Hungry Bird

(Today’s planetary action: The first quarter Moon in Libra squares the Cancer Sun; Wounded Warrior Chiron stations retrograde in Pisces at 21 degrees; Mars enters Cancer at 9:33 am EDT; Jupiter trines Uranus, ongoing.)

Cosmic Quote of the Day: “Life is not a solo act. It’s a huge collaboration, and we all need to assemble around us the people who care about us and support us in times of strife.” Tim Gunn.

Clearly, none of us can go it alone. Although some of us, at times, may think we can. Just consider, for instance, the many collaborative efforts that often go into simply putting food on our tables, i.e. the involvement by farmers, fishermen, grocers, packagers, truck drivers, food processors, etc. The list goes on. No matter what aspect of life you look at, you’ll usually find that it does take a convergence of energies by many individuals to keep everything afloat. Too, when we are able to gather around us a network of people who really care about us and support us, through thick and thin, that is something that always wondrously resonates within us at the very core of our being and provides us with one of the most endearing sources of comfort and strength we will ever know.

Today, with motivator Mars’ movement into maternal Cancer the Crab, the sign of home and family, where it links up with the life-giving Sun, extra emphasis will be placed on such issues as our roots or ancestry, our connectivity to our tribe, our need to protect or defend our home turf, our desire to care for or comfort those who are close to us, our willingness to express and embrace our emotional nature. There may also be more of a focus on matters concerning real estate, food and cooking, farming or agriculture, patriotism or allegiance to our country. Mars transiting through this sector also is a time to attend to home improvement projects.

Assertive Mars is in its “fall” in feeling-oriented, meaning that it is out of its natural element or comfort zone in this sign. For instance, instead of taking direct action on an issue, Mars in Cancer tends to take a more circuitous approach to getting what it wants, as symbolized by the sideways movement of the crab. Mars will reside in Cancer until August 8th.

Chiron stationing retrograde today also suggests this is a time of looking inward and attending to our own wounds. The first quarter Moon in balancing Libra square to the Cancer Sun signifies that those intentions that were set at the last New Moon are also starting to take shape. We have also seen, in the last few days, with the ongoing and socially reforming Jupiter trine Uranus aspect, sudden shifts among many people in this country (and retailers) regarding the symbolism of the confederate flag. While not everyone agrees fully on how the matter should be viewed, there’s suddenly, at least, an important dialogue on the subject beginning to emerge. The “whirlwind nature” of this movement is also very characteristic of what we might expect to find when expansive, philosophical Jupiter aligns with innovative, equality-minded Uranus, with Uranus always encouraging us to go beyond the safety net of the status quo to take a stand, especially doing so within the framework of a group context.

Famous June 24th Birthdays: Mick Fleetwood, Roy Disney, Jeff Beck, Jack Dempsey, Solange Knowles. Would also like to extend a warm birthday greeting to my dear friend Liz, a very important member of my own tribe, who has always been there for me when I needed her to be. Love you, Liz! Hope we’re also neighbors again soon!

Curved Path

(Today’s planetary aspects: Rational Mercury squares evasive Neptune; impatient Mars quinqunxes restraining Saturn; the Moon is in corrective Virgo; and yesterday’s reform-oriented Jupiter-Uranus trine, is still in effect. )

Cosmic Quote of the Day: “There is stability in walking an uncertain path, because you never allow yourself to be misled by what you think you know.” A. J. Darkholme

When we do presume to know the “lay of the land,” we do tend to naturally let our guard down. Or, are possibly more apt to relax our critical judgment as we figure we will probably not be encountering too many surprises or other stuff we cannot handle. However, sometimes it is that very “I got this” attitude that can end up leading us down a more precarious path.

With today’s energy, especially the trickier Mercury-Neptune connection, which can sometimes serve to distort, delete, or cloak the facts, it may be very advantageous for us to not take anything for granted now, and to be extra vigilant regarding some of the situations which we find ourselves. That vigilance may be arrived at by doing such practical things as double-checking stuff, asking for clarity when in doubt, making sure others understand what we’re trying to communicate to them, refraining from automatically accepting things at face value. Fortunately, the Moon deposited in logical Virgo, all day, can serve as a healthy filter to help us wade through the obscuring Neptunian fog. Too, this can be a great day to do any creative work that calls for employing the power of our imagination.  Meanwhile, the Mars-Saturn quinqunx influence may also require us to justify our actions, especially to those who are in charge. One of my favorite astrologers, Lilly Roddy, said in her daily blog today, that we may want to just use this day as a “mental health day,” and chill out with movies and snacks, while planning for tomorrow. Also sounds like a good strategy!

Famous Birthdays June 23: Randy Jackson, Clarence Thomas, Richard Bach.

“You’re never given a dream without also being given the power to make it true.” Richard Bach, The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah.

On a personal note, I’ve been absent from this blog for the last three months, mainly due to my workload. Hopefully, though, I’ll be able to be around here with more regularity in the future.

Hope you enjoy your day!

Astrology March 5, 2015: A Full Moon in Purifying Virgo

Tags

, , , , , , , ,

“There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.” Ernest Hemingway

COSMIC WATCH:

A Full Moon in “purifying” Virgo, today (1:05 pm), the sign of health and work, paves the way for self-improvement projects, makeovers, general healing, dietary changes, detox efforts, de-cluttering, recycling, becoming better organized, tidying things up. Also, some things that perhaps managed to elude our awareness before, are now getting ready to come into full view of our consciousness.

Too, the impact of what is about to be revealed, could be something that’s very powerful for us, in a galvanizing way, especially since we have so many other potent, illuminating aspects occurring at this same time – aspects that sort of all piggy back on each other, including the “opportunity-laden” Jupiter Uranus trine, and the seventh and last installment of the “game-changing” Uranus and Pluto square, which I’ll be discussing more about, in an upcoming blog.

The “keeping it real” Virgo Full Moon is also excellent for providing us with an accurate, no-nonsense assessment of what’s really going on around us – a nice complement to the more “idealistic, otherworldly” Sun in Pisces influence, which can sometimes find us getting too caught up, or lost, in our pipe dreams or fantasies.

The Virgo Moon also symbolizing “the voice of reason”, while the Pisces Sun represents, “the voice of our intuition,” which some also view as the “voice of Spirit” operating within us. With this lunation, we’re seeking to balance and integrate both of these voices.

This Full Moon’s trine to “transforming” Pluto also directs us to confidently step into our own power, while simultaneously serving to ignite our heart’s passions. Too, with our passions on the rise, there’s also possibly more of a feeling now that we’re truly on the way to fulfilling our life’s purpose, or special destiny, especially since passion is something that is often equated with leading us to our soul’s, or higher self’s, true calling. Included in all of this here, too, is the possibility of a very deep, if not sacred sense now, of our own renewal, especially on an emotional level; coupled with this may also be a very strong desire to focus firmly on the tasks ahead.

There may also be an increased willingness to release, with greater ease and serenity now, those things that are no longer serving us on our journey. Sometimes, too, just letting go of an attitude can be the thing that begins to turn our life around, in a major way.

Writer Caroline Myss also suggests that we eliminate five words from our vocabulary, when we’re ready to move on: blame, deserve, guilt, fair, and fault. She says that this is because these five words “often make it easier for us to fall into negative emotional patterns.”

“I realize there’s something incredibly honest about trees in winter, how they’re experts at letting things go.” Jeffrey McDaniel

This Full Moon may also put more of a spotlight on the following areas: joint financial matters, investments, taxes, insurance, wills and estates, research or investigation. This energy also favors archeological digs, therapy, deep tissue massage, adopting a new fitness regime, implementing more quality control measures at work, making repairs, improving or perfecting a craft, revising job search strategies, updating resumes, meeting with employment counselors.

Astrology March 2, 2015: The Moon’s in “Happy” Leo, Grand Fire Trine

“When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy.” Rumi

COSMIC WATCH:

Sunflowers

As of this writing, Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” video – the Official Music Version” of it on YouTube – has received over 593 million views since its original publication date of November 21 2013! Amazing, isn’t it? While I’m no music or video critic, I like to think that one of the main reasons for the song’s epic popularity with the collective (apart from the superb video, itself, which was reportedly the “real catalyst” that launched the song into the stratosphere) is because both the lyrics and melody are something that seem to deeply resonate with nearly all of us on a ‘soul level.’ To paraphrase Rumi a bit: we can’t help but feel a river moving through us, a joy, when we listen to the upbeat words and rhythm of this masterful piece of work. Pharrell is also on record as saying that he thinks “all music is a gift from God.” While I’m not sure if I would make a blanket statement like that, on the topic, I do believe that “Happy” originated from some zenith location inhabited by the gods. Pharrell, by the way, is a “pioneering” Aries with his Sun in a tight, one-degree conjunction with “lovable” Venus, an influence that tends to make a person very likable. Also, often an artist, in some regard.

Too, it appears that the “happy” Leo Moon, today, is perhaps brilliantly plotting in her own stellar manner to give Pharrell a real run for his money now, by lighting up the sky above with a spectacular “Grand Fire Trine” involving Saturn, Mars, Venus, Uranus, and Jupiter. This is a highly creative configuration that potentially allows us to tap more effortlessly into our own river of ‘soulful resources,’ especially our reservoir of talent, or individual gifted-ness, with Leo being the sign of the entertainer, the producer.

This “invigorating” Grand Trine is also setting the stage for tomorrow morning’s exact, 120-degree alignment between “propitious” Jupiter in Leo and “unexpected” Uranus in Aries – an aspect often associated with “rare opportunities” suddenly descending upon our doorstep. “Let me tell ya. You gotta pay attention to signs. When life reaches out with a moment like this it’s a sin if you don’t reach back… I’m telling you.” Matthew Quick, The Silver Linings Playbook

Astrology March 1, 2015: Mercury Sextiles Uranus, Opposes Jupiter

“Life is a series of opportunities for us to connect with who we really are and what we love.” Alan Cohen

COSMIC WATCH:

We begin the day with the Moon void-of-course in “sensitive” Cancer. The Moon enters “entertaining” Leo at 6:34 pm.

Mercury in Aquarius sextiles Uranus in Aries at 10:55 am. It opposes Jupiter in Leo at 4:15 pm.

Don’t you just love those days when, what you’ve been struggling to learn or know, all of a sudden “makes a grand appearance” in your life, and you’re no longer left “stumbling in the dark,” so to speak? Those “appearances,” commonly referred to as “light bulb moments,” are often synonymous with Mercury-Uranus alignments, with Mercury governing our reasoning and thinking abilities, and Uranus symbolizing our brilliance, genius, or intuition.

Also, the Mercury-Jupiter opposition can make us hungry for higher meaning, understanding, wanting to share our beliefs and views with others, as well as wanting to perhaps investigate such areas as religion, philosophy, and the teachings of other cultures. It is also an aspect that is linked with voluminous writing, publishing, traveling, expansive conversation (chattiness, too), public speaking, promotion or advertising. To attain knowledge, add things everyday. To attain wisdom, remove things every day.” Lao Tzu
