daily astrology, insight, John Lennon and Yoko Ono meet on November 9 in London, mental clarity, Mercury sextile Pluto

Cosmic Weather:

(Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio Sextiles Pluto in Capricorn, at 20 degrees, at 9:09 pm EST)

Usually, when we review or revisit something, we come across a detail or two that we may have initially skipped or missed, that potentially ends up having quite an impact on matters. That could also possibly be the case today as cerebral Mercury retrograde sextiles perceptive Pluto again, an aspect that first occurred around October 18th, when the Winged Messenger was still in direct motion. So we may want to check back to that same time period again, to what we were perhaps discussing or thinking about, and see if there’s a possible parallel to what’s grabbing our attention in the present moment. It could very well be that during this second go-round now, some important data or information jumps out to us that we originally didn’t see, or maybe failed to understand, or it could also be that the information may have even initially been hidden or concealed from us and only now, is it coming to light, giving us a new take or slant on things. (Mercury, in direct motion, will also make this same sextile aspect to Pluto a third, and final time, on December 3rd, when there should be a conclusion or final answer to the matter.)

Too, with Mercury retrograding in secretive Scorpio, information tends to be generally coded or shrouded in multiple layers, to begin with, and the truth is often only finally derived as a consequence of digging deep and not letting go until we have exactly what we need. Kind of like a dog with a bone, who won’t let go of it.

Generally speaking, Mercury sextile Pluto today favors investigations or research of any kind, engaging in deep thinking, psychotherapy, past life regressions, seances, dealing with estate or succession matters, having brutally honest conversations, reading or writing mystery or detective books, purging or letting go of outworn ideas, beliefs, or notions.

It’s also an excellent time to study something that has, perhaps, always intrigued or fascinated us, especially on a gut level, even though our conscious awareness may not know exactly why this is the case. Sort of like our (Pluto-ruled) unconscious is pointing us in a direction, for a certain reason, only to be made clear to us, later. It could be we have some unfinished business to take care of around the subject.

Additionally, Mercury-Pluto can be a time when others are more inclined to listen to us or take to heart what we’re saying. Our words may carry more power or impact now.

On This Day in History: On November 9, 1966, John Lennon meets Yoko Ono at an avante-garde art exposition at Indica Gallery in London.

Astrologically, that day, the cosmic lovers – Venus and Mars – were exactly sextile in the heavens, an aspect traditionally regarded as an ideal time for a budding romance. Relationship Venus was also conjunct both the empowering Sun and dreamy, glamorizing Neptune, in sexy Scorpio, suggesting a tendency to idolize or idealize our lovers.

“As usual, there is a great woman behind every idiot.” John Lennon

“I feel sad that he’s just a voice now.” Yoko Ono

Hope it’s a good one!

Cosmic Weather:

(Saturn in Capricorn sextiles Neptune in Pisces, at 16 degrees)

Very hopeful, positive cosmic energy descends upon us today!

This Friday (also a renewing “eight” day, numerologically), features the third or final installment of the closing or waning, ‘Saturn-Neptune’ sextile (9:45 pm), for the year, an aspect which first began on January 31st; the second meetup between these planets, occurred on June 18th.

Basically, and ideally, this encouraging sextile influence helps us to really ground or manifest (Saturn) our dreams or inspirations (Neptune), but usually only if we’re willing to add the necessary legwork. This is because, with the sextile aspect, we normally need to actually ‘do’ something; things don’t automatically just flow to us, as they often can, and do, with a trine. Plus, of course, we have Saturn involved in the equation here – and he always requires that we have some “skin in the game.” Saturn rewards us according to our efforts.

Hopefully, too, at the inception of this aspect (in January), we may have started sketching out some of our grand designs or visions, on our humble, little drawing boards, and now we’re finally seeing them get their glorious angel wings!

Also, for those of us who may have arrived a bit ‘late to the party,’ today, is still a good time to challenge ourselves to take some kind of meaningful action on a matter that we know, in our heart, will propel us along positively on our purposeful life journey. In fact, with this being a closing sextile, today, too, if we do take action on something now, it will likely be on a matter that we have already probably seriously considered.

An extra perk or bonus for us today, too, is that the rejuvenating Sun in Scorpio is also making a closing sextile to Saturn (at 12:06 pm) and a waning trine to Neptune (at 12:56 pm). Sun sextile Saturn is always excellent energy for helping us to more effectively prioritize, and then act upon, our goals or objectives as well as draw upon our previous experiences in a practical and self-disciplined manner.

On another level, Sun sextile Saturn is a great time to enlist the aid or support of a mentor, or someone whom we respect, or maybe look up to. This energy is also advantageous for dealing with issues associated with such things as aging, retirement, long-term care, and succession-planning.

The Sun-Neptune trine also adds a, seemingly, more magical component, to our day, and is an energy that can really help us to feel more connected to each other, or more unified, collectively. This more visionary influence can also be very good for such things as taking up peace negotiations, or for calling for truces or ends to conflicts.

This might also be a fun day to channel our inner artist or poet, if we’re so inclined. Or to steal some time away for meditation or quiet reflection. Also, we may experience or encounter more synchronistic-type events.

The Moon also entered pioneering Aries, this morning (at 6:48 am), where it will stay for the duration of the weekend. This lunar position additionally helps to put us in a more adventurous, risk-taking mindset, for the next two and a half days. A time when we will, more than likely, want to be on the go, doing our own thing.

Hope it’s a good one!

daily astrology, Mars square Pluto, self-growth, transformation

Cosmic Weather:

(Mars in Libra squares Pluto in Capricorn at 20 degrees, at 5:27 am)

This is a very potent and dynamic day! Mars (governing our drive, ambition, and determination) is squaring off with Pluto (representing our urge for power, transformation, and hidden motivations). Often when these two heavyweights are paired, we find that the landscape around us has a chance of being reshaped or reconfigured in a dramatic way, depending, in large part, upon the actions we choose to undertake, our will, and level of conscious awareness.

Generally, Mars-Pluto energy tends to make us much more unrelenting or uncompromising in the pursuit of our wants, needs, and desires. At the same time, our behavior can also become a bit more complicated because we are likely more impacted or fueled now by our hidden or subconscious motivations. (On the shadow side, Mars-Pluto is associated with, among other things, extreme behavior, outbursts of anger, bullying, manipulation, and power struggles.)

So, ideally, what we want to do now is to act from a higher place, inside ourselves. Keep our long-term goals and vision for ourselves, front and center. Focus on mindfully taking key actions that help to foster or facilitate self-growth, self-improvement, and or self-mastery (qualities, in keeping, with the Scorpio season). Avoid trying to control or blame others and, instead, put our energy on self-responsibility and personal accountability.

Too, engaging in physical activities or exercise is often a great way to express and release the more intense buildup of the Mars-Pluto energy in the body.

Additionally, it can be a very good time to vent or clear the air (Mars) as a way of rebalancing situations (Libra). The trick here, however, is to do it in a way that doesn’t manipulate or intimidate (Pluto), which could only serve to complicate matters.

Cosmic Weather:

(Moon in Aquarius forms a waxing square to the Sun in Scorpio, at 11 degrees, 5:22 am)

So, a week ago, with the New Moon in ‘penetrating’ Scorpio, we likely put some new projects or activities into motion and, with today’s First Quarter Moon in ‘detached’ Aquarius, we now have, hopefully, just enough lunar light around to see how they’re faring.

The First Quarter Moon is synonymous with a “crisis in consciousness” in which we’re motivated to take some manner of action (the square aspect) normally in wake of some new, emerging reality, which could possibly be an event or situation suddenly unfolding.

The First Quarter Moon in ‘airy’ Aquarius also suggests that there’s a need now to step back, or to emotionally distance ourselves, from the more passionate orientation of the Scorpio New Moon. There may also be a special ability now to ingeniously tinker with our burgeoning creations so that they evolve in a way that more satisfactorily suits our needs for individuality or self-expression within the collective.

“It was my letting go that gave me a better hold.” Chris Matakas

Numerologically, with it being the 4th day of the month, we also have potentially more opportunity now to build a more solid foundation for ourselves. In Tarot, the 4th card of the Major Arcana is The Emperor, suggesting an ability to act with more authority and willpower.

daily astrology, growth, joy, Martha Hughes Cannon first woman elected to state senate, unconventional, venus trine chiron, vulnerability

Cosmic Weather:

(Venus in Sagittarius trines Chiron in Aries at 2 degrees, 8:19 am)

Today appears to be an opportune time to put more of a focus or energy on the more pleasurable aspects of our lives that help to endow us with a true sense of joy, beauty, love, or fulfillment (Venus); the revitalizing areas that we genuinely look forward to leaning into (Sagittarius).

We are also, ideally, more willing or able to overlook or accept our own or others’ perceived weaknesses or vulnerabilities (Chiron) now, preferring to view them, instead, as interesting launching pads for new growth or mutual discovery (Aries). Kind of like what the late broadcast minister and author, Robert Schuller, often advised his followers to do: “Turn your scars into stars.” Venus in Sagittarius also naturally tends to be very philosophical in outlook and enjoys copping a “can-do spirit.”

The Moon’s entrance into unconventional Aquarius (at 6:20 am) also invites us to showcase our originality or uniqueness and to pursue out-of-the-norm interests.

“Freedom began on the day the first sheep wandered away from the herd.” Marty Rubin

*All times EST

On This Day in History: On November 3, 1896, Martha Hughes Cannon of Utah (b. July 1, 1857) was elected 1st female state senator in the US.

Astrologically, in the sky, that day, Venus (ruling women) was in independent Sagittarius (the zodiacal sign that governs both politics and politicians, as well as the idea of inclusion) and applying to an exact opposition to transformational Pluto (also symbolizing power) in open-minded, yielding Gemini.

“In 1896, Martha Hughes Cannon spent a total of $35 in the campaign that led to her election as a member of Utah’s fledgling state Senate. It was a seminal moment in U.S. politics. In that election, Cannon became the first woman in America to be elected to any state senate. The fact that she defeated her husband in the election made her victory part of Utah’s folklore. (The transiting Venus-Pluto opposition then also suggesting/highlighting a possible shift in the power dynamics within relationships.)

As a pioneer doctor, a champion of public health, and a polygamist’s wife who was also a leader in the suffragist movement, Cannon carved out a unique place in the annals of the state’s history.” (Deseret.com on 12/14/2009)

Cosmic Weather:

Today, we’re possibly more receptive to discussing, articulating, or investigating (Mercury) matters of an intimate, hidden, or private nature (Scorpio), that we normally might shy away from, and do so in a manner that is less likely to alienate or create any kind of negative fallout for us. Even if we do encounter a bumpy patch or two here, we’re more likely to know how to intuitively placate or smooth out things pretty quickly and effectively now.

In fact, it may be a lot easier to more effortlessly arrive at some points of agreement or understanding partially because our words/ideas/points of view seem to possess a special healing or therapeutic quality about them (Venus in Scorpio), as well as conveying a certain element of truth that others perhaps find easier to resonate to, even if they possess viewpoints radically different or in opposition to ours.

Too, it’s possible that what is discussed or agreed to now may be altered or revised a bit, down the road, as Mercury will be stationing retrograde, tomorrow.

Question for Today: What might you reveal about yourself that may feel very freeing to you?

On This Day in History: On October 30, 1938, a radio broadcast of H.G. Wells, “The War of the Worlds,” narrated by Orson Welles, allegedly causes mass panic. The headline on the front page of The New York Times, the next day, read: “Radio Listeners in Panic, Taking War Drama as Fact.”

Astrologically, in the sky then, expansive, over-the-top Jupiter, in broadcast-ruling Aquarius, was exactly quincunx foggy, delusional Neptune, the planet of fantasy or make-believe, in fact-based Virgo. Here is an excerpt from that broadcast below:

“This is Orson Welles, ladies and gentlemen, out of character to assure you that The War of the Worlds has no further significance than as the holiday offering it was intended to be. The Mercury Theatre’s own radio version of dressing up in a sheet and jumping out of a bush and saying “Boo!” Starting now, we couldn’t soap all your windows and steal all your garden gates by tomorrow night, so we did the best next thing. We annihilated the world before your very ears, and utterly destroyed the Columbia Broadcasting System. You will be relieved, I hope, to learn that we didn’t mean it, and that both institutions are still open for business. So goodbye, everybody, and remember, please, for the next day or so, the terrible lesson you learned tonight. That grinning, glowing, globular invader of your living room is an inhabitant of the pumpkin patch, and if your doorbell rings and nobody’s there, that was no Martian; it’s Halloween!” (Wikipedia)

getting out of debt, Mars square Saturn, mars square sun, Moon opposite Uranus, New Moon in Scorpio, patience, shared intimacy, uphill battle, Walt Disney TV premieres

Cosmic Weather:

“Trees that are slow to grow bear the best fruit.” Moliere

Sitting on the sidelines and patiently waiting things out may be our wisest or most prudent course of action now – especially if we’re getting clear indications that what we’re wanting/trying to push through is obviously not going to fly without tying up way too much (Saturn) of our precious, energetic currency (Mars) or other resources.

Metaphorically, Mars square Saturn (at 10:31 am) is often akin to feeling like we’re fighting an uphill battle, which we most likely are!

Of course, sometimes, too, with Mars-Saturn, we’re internally feeling much more pressured to act swiftly now. Kind of like sensing that we’re running out of (Saturn-ruled) time. Mars-Saturn aspects are also often associated with a more concentrated effort or push.

Since this Mars-Saturn is also a waning square, if we do act on something important to us now, it’s likely to finish off something that we started earlier. It could also be that we’re feeling more of a sense of responsibility to act now – even though we know that it may still cost us, in the end, and we may not necessarily get the result that we desire.

Plus, we’re still also dealing with the waning Balsamic Moon today in “can’t we all just get along” Libra; normally a period when we need to just let go or possibly regroup our forces and move on.

Later, Luna will shift into rejuvenating Scorpio (at 4:29 pm), with the New Moon occurring shortly before midnight (at 11:38 pm). New Moons generally give us a green light to wipe the slate clean and start all over again.

Today’s lunation will also form an exact opposition to erratic, yet often innovative Uranus. While this New Moon may be disruptive in some regards, in that it could present situations/circumstances that we weren’t expecting, it can also ideally help to further us along in ways that ultimately prove to be freeing or liberating. We may also have to first work through, however, some initial feelings of inner discontent or unrest, as part of the whole process.

With reforming Uranus in stewardship Taurus, it could be that we’re also incorporating a new perspective or take on what it is that we truly value now and need in our life in order to feel more safe and secure in our little neck of the woods on Mother Earth. We may discover, too, that it is something that we didn’t originally envision as really needing. This might also be because we never even perceived it as a plausible option for ourselves, until now. (Kind of like that proverbial light bulb has suddenly gone off in our head giving us more options.)

Meanwhile, the revitalizing Scorpio New Moon is also a chance for us to empty ourselves of outworn behaviors or practices that have been perhaps keeping us stuck or immobilized in our sneakers. Issues of shared intimacy with others and getting out of debt may also be two key areas that are particularly highlighted during the coming month.

“Intimacy is not purely physical. It’s the act of connecting with someone so deeply, you feel like you can see into their soul.” Reshall Varsos

Questions for Today: What in your life is worth fighting for? What things are totally non-negotiable for you? What do you always need around you as a safety net?

*All times EDT.

On This Day in History: On October 27, 1954, Walt Disney’s 1st TV show “Disneyland” premieres on ABC. The theme song for the show was “When You Wish Upon a Star.”

In the sky that day, pioneering Mars was in hi-tech Aquarius (the sign of broadcasting) and exactly square to the life-giving Sun in transformational Scorpio!

“If you can dream, you can do it. Always remember that this whole thing was started by a mouse.” Walt Disney.

Happy New Moon Blessings to you!

daily astrology, diplomacy, Mercury conjunct Venus, relationships, Sun trine pluto, treasure hunt

Cosmic Weather:

Today, it appears, we may be able to smooth out some wrinkles on the relationship front, and play nice with each other, for at least a while, as communicator Mercury forms a soothing conjunction to charmer Venus in conscientious Virgo (11:10 am). Mercury-Venus aspects tend to inspire us to seek out more points of agreement, or to find ways to be diplomatic. It’s also usually an excellent time to articulate our feelings, something that’s not often easy for many of us to do. This aspect can also inspire us to want to be surrounded by beauty, in all its many splendid shapes, forms, or guises. It’s fascinating, too, how when we put ourself in a more agreeable or pleasant environment how our mood will often almost immediately change for the better. Kind of like how stepping outside on a sunny day gives us a lift.

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a
listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all
of which have the potential to turn a life around.” Leo Buscaglia

The empowering Sun in self-improvement Virgo is also trining transformational Pluto Rx, in ambitious Capricorn (3:42 pm). This is potentially a very super cool influence for being able to help take us “to the next level,” in our ongoing, often mystifying evolutionary journey on the dense earth plane. Too, the Sun-Pluto energy is often sometimes a bit like a “treasure hunt,” in the sense that we may be able to finally locate/spot/identify now something that has previously managed to elude us. It’s like, suddenly, we’re ready to know more about the matter and, we also sense, that this new knowledge or awareness, may have important ramifications for us, down the road. Also, this is an aspect that can help us to “step into our power.”

Favored activities for today: catching up on correspondence; writing love letters, poetry; studying geology; doing excavation work; detox efforts; incorporating healthier foods or exercise into our diet; making improvements in the workplace; talking to recruiters, updating our resumes, or doing job searches; engaging in negotiations; creating succession plans; handling insurance or tax matters.

Cosmic Weather:

Today there’s a tendency to enthusiastically/optimistically take on more (Jup in Sag) than we can effectively handle, manage, or digest (Mars in Vir) so we need to be careful. Too, depending upon our level of zeal or passion for something, we may also be more inclined to make bold, sweeping changes, moves, or statements now, likely in a bid to assertively advance our cause(s). Our personal beliefs and/or personal philosophy of life might also be areas that we feel we must protect, defend, or explain now. That said, we can still probably get a lot accomplished today especially if we’re strategic, have a plan at hand, and remain mindful about what we’re committing to.

Meanwhile, the Moon also shifts into dreamy, transcendent Pisces, this morning, (5:51 am), in preparation for the upcoming Full Moon in Pisces on Saturday.

compassion, daily astrology, fantasy, Sun opposite Neptune, truth, TV dinners

Cosmic Weather:

The illuminating, ego-conscious Sun in fastidious, bow-tied Virgo is forming its annual opposition to the grandest of all planetary disappearing acts: the visionary, trident-bearing Neptune, otherwise known as ‘the Great Dissolver,’ in selfless, oceanic Pisces (3:23 am), where the million-dollar views are, at best, blurred or obscured, and leaving virtually everything up to the imagination.

Suffice it to say, today may not be the best time to launch a full-scale fishing expedition for the facts or truth, unless we have plenty of time, perhaps, to play hide and seek. No, today we may be better off focusing our efforts on reeling in a whale of fantasy instead of channeling our inner Joe Friday. On the plus side, Sun-Neptune can be a very creative or inspired period.

On another level, the idealizing Sun-Neptune energy can also enjoin us with situations, people, or circumstances in which our caring or compassion is invoked; a time when our sense of oneness or communion, with what surrounds us, begins to seep through and delicately show itself.

“They both listened silently to the water, which to them was not just water, but the voice of life, the voice of Being, the voice of perpetual Becoming.” Herman Hesse, Sidhartha

Additionally today, the Moon is in progressive Aquarius so there can also be a yen for whatever is novel or new.

Favored activities today: Hiding our ego under a bushel basket; going fishing for our soul; paying it forward or performing acts of kindness; resting, relaxing, meditating; dancing; following our dreams; paying attention to synchronicities; deciphering the hidden meaning of cloud formatiions.

On This Day in History: On September 10, 1953, Swanson’s sell its first “TV dinner.” Astrologically, in the sky, that day, newsmaker Mercury in digesting Virgo was forming a waxing sextile to technology wiz kid Uranus in foodie Cancer. (Uranus also rules TV!)

Hope it’s a good one!
