Some thick fog is on the horizon today, so we may wish to proceed with caution…

Intellectual Mercury in Virgo opposes fantasy planet Neptune Rx in Pisces (3:40 am):

This short-term annual occurrence tends to veil our senses, rebuffs logic, and may fuel untenable or highly speculative claims e.g. conspiracy theories. Needless to say, the communications sphere may be a bit twisted/confusing now as what we say, mean, or do might be misunderstood. Or what others say/reveal to us may not be the whole truth or enchilada even though they swear on a stack of bibles that it is!

Too, it’s possible someone may think they’re telling us the truth now but – unbeknownst to them – their perspective may be a bit warped or off target at the moment. Also on the shadow side, Mercury-Neptune may rachet up our emotional sensitivities perhaps leaving us more vulnerable to the harmful impact of harsher words or gestures. Likewise, we may want to avoid or sidestep certain persons now who tend to push our buttons.

On the positive side, this planetary configuration can be a real boon for our creativity as Neptune governs our imagination and it may be much easier for us now to conjure up or envision various scenarios or possibilities. We also may take more pleasure now in partaking in cultural or artistic outings.

On a practical level, perhaps one of the best ways to manage this sometimes trickier aspect, communication-wise, is to simply ask for more clarification, when in doubt, instead of assuming anything. We may also want to make sure that others understand the points that we are trying to convey. Fortunately, Luna is in articulate Gemini today until later this evening, so we may have more of a built-in readiness/capacity for dealing with all this back-and-forth type stuff. That said, it may also be best to hold off on any contractual signings/agreements/commitments for the time being as it still may be too easy to miss things.

On another level, we may find ourselves interested in pursuing more transcendental or spiritual matters today with Neptune signifying the non-material realm. Too, with Mercury governing the news, it’s possible that we may hear about more non-secular topics making headlines.

For instance, when Mercury in Virgo opposed Neptune in Pisces on September 2, 2012 (which was right after Neptune first entered its current transit of Pisces) there was the news of the death of self-proclaimed messiah Sun Myung Moon, at the age of 92, the founder of the Unification Church, a movement that is well-known for its “Blessing” or mass weddings ceremonies. The followers of Sun Myung Moon are commonly referred to as “Moonies.” (Wikipedia)

Some other things Neptune rules or is associated with: liquids, gases and chemicals, oil and gasoline, drugs and medication, addiction, and all visual forms of communication.

The film contains some of the greatest romantic one-liners of all time along with some amazing dance sequences.

The cosmic lineup was also pretty stellar on the day of the film’s release, with a stellium of planets in entertainment Leo – including the sexy duo Mars and Venus, exactly conjunct in playful Leo and exactly trine to expansive Jupiter in trail-blazing Aries.

The Winged Messenger’s pairing with innovative Uranus gets top billing today!

Mercury in Virgo trines Uranus in Taurus at 1:46 pm – 

Keeping my fingers crossed here, but it seems that if we somehow manage to hold our heads up the right way today, we may just find that our thinking caps fit more snuggly now, which hopefully bodes better for our being able to put the cryptic puzzle pieces of our lives together in a more coherent – or at least semi-coherent fashion – so that the world around us appears a little less baffling or intimidating to us. In fact, it could be that we may even be able to score some extra bonus points for our ingenuity or cleverness at this time.

Intellectual Mercury, when it’s in its home sign of analytical, logical Virgo, is already on a fast track to Ph.D. status, in many instances, and aligned with genius-ruling Uranus -even though Uranus is deposited in slow-moving, deliberate Taurus – ups the ante that the E=mc2 sky is a limit that is definitely within our reach!

Another cool thing about the Mercury trine Uranus aspect is that it tends to naturally channel our quirkier or off-the-wall side, which can also help to jazz up our day. included here, conversations could easily wade into a wackier or more irreverent territory if permitted to do so. At the least, it can allow us to look at things from all sorts of weird or unusual angles that we may not normally consider.

Since this trine is also occurring in practical earth signs, it may be that we find ourselves coming up with, considering, or adopting fresh new approaches/strategies pertaining to security-related issues or financial matters now – including maybe having some “come to Jesus” moments about our money situation. It may also be a fruitful time to brainstorm new ways to make a buck.

The Waning Moon in Aries is also trining the Sun in Leo, at 10:48 am –

This very nice flowing aspect allows us to display a more united front personally, as our inner and outer energies are potentially now more in sync or on the same page. The natural Aries enthusiasm is generously supported by Leo’s confidence.

Colossal traffic on the cosmic superhighway today! 🙂

The Leo Sun squares Uranus in Taurus (8:53 am) – It’s possible that we might be thrown a few curveballs with this aspect now. This influence tends to test our ability/willingness to make or accept sudden changes in our lives, including such things as tolerating simple disruptions to our daily routines or schedules.

On another level, we may find ourselves wanting to change things up in such a way that is typically uncharacteristic for us – stemming perhaps from feelings of boredom or seemingly a pervasive need for more stimulation or excitement in our lives.

Generally, Uranian energy is more roguish and rebellious by nature and often operates with lightning speed. Too, because the Sun also symbolizes, among other things, authority figures, we may find ourselves more at odds now with directives/policies issued by higher-ups or those in charge.

On a collective level, this Sun-Uranus influence also sometimes correlates with a greater chance for open rebellion, strikes, walkouts, etc. as those being ruled/employed weigh in to voice or offer up their opposition/input to things.

Additionally, on another level, some astrologers often liken Uranus’s activated ray to a period when we are privy to consciousness downloads that can raise our vibration. This is largely because Uranus is also considered the higher octave to intellectual Mercury and governs intuition.

We also have the Full Moon in (Uranus-ruled) Aquarius tonight (9:36 pm), which occurs when the Leo Sun forms an exact opposition with Luna. Overall, with this configuration, we are seeking to integrate the urge for individual expression and group expression. This may coincide with a desire for such things as social activism or involvement in humanitarian concerns.

Full Moons also deliver results, culminations, and revelations. They are also a time when our New Moon intentions are brought into manifestation.

Luna also conjuncts cautious Saturn in Aquarius shortly after this Full Moon (exact tomorrow at 1:58 am). This conjunction also re-emphasizes the ongoing Saturn-Uranus square, which symbolizes, among other things, a changing of the guard, so to speak, pitting the old established way of doing things up against the new or cutting-edge.

On another level, the more concentrated Moon-Saturn aspect also favors such things as data collection, organizing database systems, and evaluating various technologies and information.

Too, sandwiched between the Sun-Uranus square and Full Moon today,  lovable Venus will shift into playful, warmhearted Leo (2:30 pm) for a three-week stay, while initiating Mars, in soothing Taurus, will sextile transcendental Neptune in Pisces (5:44 pm), with the latter aspect, perhaps, possibly making us feel a bit like we are being taken on a magic carpet ride of sorts, with Mars-Neptune often introducing the chance for some “out of this world” or otherwise unusual type of experiences our way. We may also want to pay closer attention to any synchronicities occurring now as they might impart very special meaning to us.

On this seventh day of the week – and seventh of August – we’re seemingly treated to a mixed bag:

Venus in Cancer trines Neptune Rx (12:43 pm) – Potentially a nice dreamy romantic aspect. This influence inspires us to look for the best in others. It’s also a configuration that can incline us to want to get lost in something as an escape. Too, creativity may be kindled or enhanced. (Many artists and musicians tend to have Venus-Neptune aspects prominent, including singer-songwriter Stevie Nicks.)

Waxing Moon in Sagittarius trines the Sun in Leo (2:21 pm) – This flowing aspect ideally helps us to achieve more of an inner/outer balance. Our ego needs and desire for accomplishment are more readily met. Nurturing ourselves and others may also come easier now.

Mars in Taurus squares Saturn Rx in Aquarius ( 3:57 pm) – Hands down, this aspect is the big elephant in the room today! Among other things, it often forces us to slow down – or to at least go at things at a much more measured pace. Success can be had now but this is more likely only if we are willing to put in the hard work that taskmaster Saturn requires. If we are, we may find that we are able to build something of real stature or value now that is long-lasting. Too, trying to simply wing things or rest largely on our laurels will likely just send us to the back of the class now. On another level, this aspect may also make us more aware of how our fears may be holding us back. It may also alert us to the finite nature of our physical energy and how we may need to guard it.

Astrologically, that day, warrior Mars was conjunct the Sun in commanding Leo. Mars was also trining Jupiter and Saturn both conjunct in philosophical, freedom-loving Sagittarius. On this sixth day of the week – and sixth day of the month – we have Waxing Luna, in penetrating Scorpio, sextile to Pluto Rx in Capricorn (7:24 am), Scorpio’s modern-day co-ruler of the sign (along with Mars).

This aspect tends to introduce more intense emotions and feelings. Things that have been tucked away deep inside of us are now surfacing and clamoring for the exit doors. Ideally, this exodus process can be very healing. It can also be a good time to attempt to locate what has been lost or misplaced as our inner detective is now hot on the trail.

Too, Luna will go void-of-course after this sextile and remain so until she enters adventurous Sagittarius (12:39 pm) where she will hang out and, no doubt, copiously opine for the rest of the weekend. Also, we may even see preachiness crescendo to new heights when the Sadge Moon squares off with mental Mercury in persnickety, snarky Virgo this evening (8:18 pm). Additionally, Moon-Mercury tends to put our thoughts and feelings at odds.

Cosmic Weather:

On this jobs-reporting Friday in the U.S.  – and the very first Friday of August – we are greeted by a First Quarter Moon, as the celebrity Leo Sun squares off with angst-filled Luna in Scorpio (7:07 am). This phase of the Moon occurs when Luna reaches 50% of her illumination – or appears half full in the sky.

At this time of the lunar cycle, we may be feeling some unease inside ourselves and feel compelled to take some kind of corrective or re-orienting action to right the spaceship, so to speak, especially with respect to what was conceived at the Leo New Moon (i.e. our monthly vision for ourselves).

Luna’s increasing light makes it more possible for us to see now some of the kinks or vulnerable points in that original design that may need to be purged or expunged in order to make this whole thing fly by the time of the Full Moon in aviation Aquarius, on August 11th.

Too, the First Quarter Moon can also bring to light other issues, and hidden tensions, that may force us to pay more attention to what is happening, including possibly highlighting some inner conflicts that we may feel regarding our need for outward recognition from others for what we are generating or putting out there. For instance, we may question whether we are doing the right thing with some project, or maybe think about possibly changing our approach.

Additionally, today’s eliminating Scorpio Moon is an excellent time to do some decluttering of objects we no longer need.

Cosmic Weather:

We may be more honed in on dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s, in the next few weeks, as Mercury, the planet of communication, intellect, memory, and travel enters precise, analytical Virgo today (2:58 am), one of two signs that it rules (the other is Gemini). This is one of the best placements for the Winged Messenger as it gives our mental faculties quickness and a critical edge.

Too, one thing I’ve discovered: when we do start paying closer attention to the myriad details of the things around us we often find that the world that we thought we so intimately knew is really, in many cases, vastly different than the one we have fabricated in our heads. It’s like the long paper trail never ends! 🙂

This also hints at the possible shadow side of Mercury in Virgo: that we become so consumed now by the little things that we fail to see the big (perplexing) picture. Still, though, Mercury in Virgo can be very useful in helping us to navigate and manage many of the practicalities of day-to-day living as it makes us focus on what’s right before us.

Luna continues in diplomatic Libra today. She also remains in her Waxing Crescent phase presently displaying 30% illumination. This phase is a transitional period that starts after the New Moon and lasts until the First Quarter. Astrologically, this is perceived to be an excellent time to be laser-focused on advancing the intentions that we set during last week’s New Moon in Leo.

Luna squares Venus in Cancer this afternoon (1:54 pm). This more social aspect poises us to want to be around people we like, doing things that we enjoy. On the shadow side, our feelings and desires could conflict a bit with our relationships, which could possibly distort our perceptions. One way to perhaps neutralize or turn this around may be to listen to what others are saying instead of imagining things in our heads. Or we could simply ask for some clarification about what is being said.

The Moon in Libra’s trine to Saturn in Aquarius (6:28 pm) tends to redirect our focus and may find us seeking out moments of quiet reflection or solitude. We tend to be less dependent on others for our feelings of well-being or validation now because we are more attuned to our inner reserves of strength and security. Accordingly, it may be a very good time to evaluate our relationships and our relationship needs.

There seems to be a general consensus among many of us that aiming to strike a balance, in all that we do, is key to having a healthy and contented life. The Persian poet Rumi once opined over a thousand years ago:

“Your hand opens and closes, opens and closes. If it were always a fist or always stretched open, you would be paralyzed.”

Astrologically, Libra – symbolized by the scales – depicts that balance, and very early this morning, Waxing Luna – often thought to be a barometer of our ever-shifting emotions and public sentiment – gently dovetailed into this seventh sign of the zodiac (12:06 am), where she will, no doubt, try to work her special brand of magic and diplomacy for all of us over the next couple of days, attempting to keep everything on a copacetic even keel.

No doubt, too, Luna’s also closely eyeing Mars, Uranus, the North Node – and US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi – all conjunct in the saddle, in unflinching Taurus the bull, headed over, this morning, to Taipei, Taiwan. Reportedly, they will all be graciously escorted into the country by a fighter jet! Keeping fingers crossed, though, that Libra’s ruler, social Venus in nurturing Cancer, which is harmoniously sextiling Mars, Uranus, and the North Node today, will ultimately help everyone to maybe channel their inner Emily Post and, accordingly, mind their p’s and q’s.
