Astrology April 11, 2020: Mercury Enters Aries

Cosmic Weather:

With the waning Moon traversing through futuristic Sagittarius, all day, and thinker Mercury also joining the Sun and Chiron in trail-blazing Aries (where it will remain until the 27th), our thoughts and emotions tend to be much more focused now on finding a way to determinedly “get on with our lives,” as both Aries and Sagittarius are direct-acting fire signs that prefer to take the lead in things and do not take too kindly to being held back by perceived or real-world restrictions or limitations.

Mercury in Aries can also be highly resourceful, energetic and passionate about making discoveries and coming up with brand new solutions to problems. On the shadow side, with Mercury here in the sign of the ram, there’s sometimes more of a tendency to be argumentative, to act too rashly or impulsively on our ideas, or in ways that are too self-centered.

Today, though, as Mercury flits into “start-me up” Aries (at 12:48 am) it is also going to be having a more serious, weighted discussion with taskmaster Saturn, in detached Aquarius (via a sextile aspect at 7:58 pm). Saturn will likely be admonishing the Winged Messenger to make sure, among other things, that he has his attractive facial mask properly attached, behind his ears, before he formally joins Mick Jagger on stage. 🙂

Actually, this Mercury-Saturn sextile is also possibly an opportunity for us to channel our own “inner Einstein” in the sense that Albert Einstein (who had a Pisces Sun) also had his brilliant Mercury in the sign of Aries and in close conjunction with Saturn in Aries; Mercury-Saturn aspects are often associated with a more disciplined mind and deep powers of concentration. Additionally, Mercury sextile Saturn allows us to effectively draw on our past experiences in decision-making. It is also an excellent influence to consult with trusted advisors or with mentors we admire or look up to.

Assertive Mars, the planet of motivation and desire, has been in creative, self-expressive Leo, since late August, but today it shifts into problem-solving Virgo (7:05 am EDT), where it will stay until December 7. With Mars passing through logical, analytical Virgo we have wonderful energy to tap into for getting our affairs in proper order, over the next several weeks, as well as making significant progress and headway on tackling difficult issues that we have perhaps not wanted to face for a while. Mars in Virgo helps to strengthen our resolve and determination and can make us very disciplined and resourceful in carrying out our mundane tasks and responsibilities. It is also an excellent time to upgrade our skills and or focus on various self-improvement projects. The waning Moon’s entrance into correcting Virgo (12:50 am EDT) gives us a desire to want to fix whatever is broken or in need of repair. Intellectual Mercury’s ingress into balancing Libra, where it will stay until October 13, also makes a case for fully considering other’s viewpoints or ideas before rendering our decisions. Although today, it may be more challenging to proceed as planned, as the illuminating Sun is forming a volatile opposition to freedom-loving, jittery Uranus in self-willed Aries (8:15 pm EDT), which can find us restlessly wanting to skirt the rules, or at least, test the limits. Or, we may meet up with more recalcitrant types or experience wild, erratic behavior from others.

Uranus, as a catalyst for change and revolution, always helps to keep us on our toes by introducing unexpected elements or factors into the equation. It is probably a very good thing that the Moon is in analytical Virgo today, as this should help us to ultimately gain the upper hand over whatever is in a state of flux around us now. Too, optimally, Sun-Uranus can serve to align us with our “inner genius,” as Uranus can denote brilliance, sudden breakthroughs or innovation. Uranus, as the higher octave of Mercury, formally governs our intuition and is the planet that rules technology and science.

Interesting astrological fact: Mick Jagger and Bill Clinton are both proud Leo Suns, with their Moons in earthy, sensual Taurus. See any similarity between the two of them in terms of their personality and behavior? Remember Bill’s saxophone performance on the Arsenio Hall Show several years ago? Any shades of Mick there? 🙂

Well, the “night owl” Moon is back in Venus-ruled Taurus today, so this is a time when we may want to indulge our senses and pamper ourselves. The Taurus Moon is fond of “hedonistic” pleasures. At the same time, it is also practical and resourceful. (Taurus rules money and possessions.)

The Moon also trines “problem-solving” Pluto (10:48 am EDT), so it appears that there is very little that we cannot do today, if we but only put our minds to it and also stay cooperative (sometimes with Pluto, we try to “run the show”). Too, we still have Mick’s “start-me-up” Aries energy beaming down upon us (Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Uranus in Aries).

Later on, the “sweet” Taurus Moon forms a sexy sextile to relationship Venus (7:03 pm EDT). Definitely a time when we will want to be making a “love connection.” Power of attraction Venus helps us attract the “reality we desire.”

In the News: With the Moon in “money-minded” Taurus trining “purging” Pluto, U.S. House Republicans today proposed a budget for the next fiscal year that would reportedly spend $3.53 trillion, $179 billion dollars less then the plan put forth by President Obama. It would also supposedly balance the budget by 2015. (WSJ.com) “Bulldozing” Pluto in action? Too, Pluto tends towards “extremism.”

With intellectual Mercury square to inventive Uranus today we may receive sudden, brilliant, intuitive insights into things, and be able to solve problems, puzzles more quickly. On the shadow side, we may feel more mentally restless.

Additionally, we have Mercury sextile imaginative Neptune which bodes well for our creative and psychic abilities. A day when it is very easy to get lost in our fantasies. Too, we may also want to pay closer attention to our nocturnal dreams now which Neptune rules as they could be trying to tell us something.

Since Neptune also symbolically represents our link with the divine this is a perhaps good time to go inward.
