Cosmic Weather:

“Your assumptions are your windows on the world. Scrub them off every once in a while, or the light won’t come in.” Isaac Asimov

Intellectual Mercury trining optimistic Jupiter today (at 10:36 am) can ideally serve to broaden our perspectives as we are potentially more receptive at this time to sampling new information or at least toying around with new ideas, as expansive Jupiter symbolizes our ongoing search for higher meaning and purpose.

Too, with Mercury still deposited in down-to-earth Taurus and Jupiter ensconced in professionally ambitious Capricorn, we may be particularly interested now in scoping out fresh ways to solidify our footing in the material world.

Generally, Mercury-Jupiter is also excellent for all types of discussions or for drafting agreements or contracts, especially since there is normally more of a willingness now to bend or give a little in order to make things work.

The illuminating Sun in Taurus is also sextiling transcendent Neptune in Pisces, this afternoon (at 12:16 pm). This is a more subtle aspect that can nudge us to move beyond the realm of our everyday ego concerns or the mundane, to seek out something that speaks to the needs of our Soul or Spirit. It is an energy associated with such things as compassion, acts of kindness, and charitable giving. Archetypally, Neptune, known as the Great Dissolver, aims to unify or to remove the perceived boundaries or barriers that exist between us.

Also, perhaps, a real-world example of Neptune’s influence: Two days ago, on May 8th, was the 75th anniversary of VE Day, marking the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany to the Allied forces, ending World War II in Europe. Now, if we go back in time to see what was occurring astrologically on May 8, 1945, we find that assertive Mars in Aries (which rules war and the military) was exactly opposite Neptune, which was also in the diplomatic sign of Libra. Neptune here presumably helping to dissolve/defuse/dismantle the Martian aggression urge, ultimately paving the way for the prospect of peace again. Neptune’s activated ray is often perceived as a dominant factor in peace agreements or acts of surrender.

“Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness. If, in our heart, we still cling to anything – anger, anxiety, or possessions – we cannot be free.” Thich Nhat Hanh

Astrology December 15 2011: The Leo Moon and Taylor’s Jewels

COSMIC WATCH:

With the Moon still in charming, playful Leo today and making a flowing trine to the exploratory Sun in Sagittarius (11:07 am EST) we are encouraged to pursue fun and adventure, perhaps as a healing form of rejuvenation. Although, an evening opposition to fantasy Neptune (8:20 pm EST) cautions us not to read more into a situation than what really exists. Moon-Neptune can always be a little tricky to navigate.

Later, the Moon’s entrance into discerning, fact-finding Virgo (10:59 pm EST) and a follow-up trine to philosophical Jupiter helps us to achieve a broader, but clear-cut perspective (11:55 pm EST). Additionally, Moon-Jupiter is an aspect of abundance, with Jupiter often regarded as the “Cosmic Santa Claus.” Interestingly, Jupiter will also be stationing direct, this year, exactly on Christmas Day. Wonder if there is any special significance to that? I like to think that there is and that it is all good.

“Life is the first gift, love is the second, and understanding the third.” Marge Piercy

Today’s Affirmation: I embrace new possibilities for myself and am guided by the wisdom of my own inner truth.

Celebrity News: The late Elizabeth Taylor’s legendary collection of precious jewels went to auction on Tuesday evening at Christie’s in New York, just as the Moon was appropriately entering glitzy, glamorous Leo.

The auction marathon began with the Leo Moon square to expansive Jupiter in Taurus, the sign of money and possessions. This aspect often correlates with our overspending, as opulent Jupiter can incline us to want to do things on a lavish or extravagant scale. (Wonder if any of the successful bidders have any buyer’s remorse now?) The Leo Moon was also making a trine to electrifying Uranus. Uranus influences often provide us with singular, one-of-a-kind experiences.

Too, Elizabeth Taylor natally had Venus, which happens to rule jewelry and things of beauty, exactly conjunct Uranus in Aries in her birth chart, perhaps helping her to amass her original, “out of this world” collection in the first place. Of course, multiple marriages to wealthy, generous men did not hurt her cause any either. 🙂 Venus-Uranus can also bring about “out of the norm” romance and whirlwind courtships. (As a child, I was always so enraptured and fully mesmerized by her marriage to Richard Burton, who I also had a major crush on.)

So far, the jewelry sale on Tuesday and Wednesday (Leo Moon both days) has fetched $137.2 million, reportedly making it the most valuable sale of jewelry in auction history. (Unfortunately, due to a temporary shortage of funds, yours truly was, regrettably, unable to partake in any of the bidding, even though my Leo Moon would have loved to have done so.)

Do you have a favorite piece of jewelry that holds a lot of sentimental value for you?

BTW, last week, someone generously dropped a diamond ring valued at $3,500 into a Salvation Army kettle near where I live. Pretty neat, huh? We should all be so inclined. ‘Tis the season.

COSMIC WATCH:

The inquisitive Sagittarius Moon is a steady invite to spread our wings and enthusiastically explore new horizons, both physically and mentally. This sign is linked with publishing, writing, teaching, self-marketing and promotion, travel, religion, philosophy and higher education. The Sadge Moon’s late night sextile to serious Saturn in partnership Libra (11:18 pm EDT) also offers us a marvelous chance for disciplined study and maybe sharing or journaling about the accumulated wisdom that we have amassed in the course of trucking through our daily lives, as Moon Saturn tends to help us evaluate matters in a very distilled way. This energy also naturally favors introspection or looking back, with Saturn reverently standing sentry over the past.

Astrology May 19, 2011: “Dull Boy Jack” and Moon Trine Jupiter

COSMIC WATCH:

“Humor is mankind’s greatest blessing.” Mark Twain

This may be a good morning to crack the one-liners at the office, as we have the Moon in ‘fun-loving” Sagittarius trining Jupiter in spontaneous Aries (10:18 am EDT), with jolly Jupiter steward of the title, “the cosmic king of comedy.” Jupiter presides over our sense of humor, or ability to include some levity into our perspective.

This is also an excellent period to self-promote, self-publish, and or expand upon our brilliant philosophy (Jupiter) of life with anyone who will listen to us.

Later in the day, when the Moon shifts into serious, “all work, no play” Capricorn (4:17 pm EDT), it may be harder for us to casually laugh or philosophize our troubles away, especially for “dull boy” Jack. Although the Capricorn Moon’s sextile to imaginative Neptune in “tipsy” Pisces (5:48 pm EDT) can help to get our creative juices flowing again, especially when Jack meets up with Mr. Daniels at the water cooler. 🙂

We also may have to subdue an inner rebellious streak when the traditionalist Capricorn Moon squares off with “non-conforming,” lone maverick Uranus (10:31 pm EDT), defiantly thumbing for a ride on the “wild west” Aries’ prairie.

Hope it’s a good one!

Cosmic Watch:

There’s a New Moon in freedom-loving Sagittarius occurring on December 5, 2010 (12:37 pm). Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius is associated with roaming and exploring, communing in the great outdoors, long-distance travel, foreign cultures, philosophy, and religion. Areas and activities that are often mainstay components of “stretching” or “growing” ourselves beyond our customary borders.

Sagittarius energy is characteristically upbeat and positive. So, this New Moon in Sadge – with new Moons signifying “new beginnings,” may seem like a breath of fresh air for us.

This could very well be a time when our aspirations, and hopes and dreams, all get ramped up a few notches because we’re feeling more optimistic and enthused.

Also, our prospects for success with our dreams, are potentially brighter, because the New Moon forms a harmonious sextile to achievement Saturn in relationship-ruling Libra. An aspect which also may bode well for ushering in a more stabilizing romantic situation for some of us over the next two weeks (could even be with someone from our past, or someone older).

Saturn’s “positive vibe” has a knack for helping us rope in our wishes and fantasies and making them take shape by instilling within us an attitude of commitment, determination, and dedication to hard work. Saturn rules worldly success and status and combined with the “can-do spirit” of Sagittarius, we are primed to “go for the gold.”

Also, this New Moon in Sag forms a quintile to spiritual Neptune, making this a positive time for meditation and more mystical pursuits.

New Moon in Sagittarius activities: Athletics (including horse riding, polo, archery); travel, especially to foreign lands; developing cross-cultural relationships; learning new languages; studying philosophy, religion; creating goal-oriented vision boards; writing; publishing; teaching; preaching; enrolling in new classes; professional speaking; speech-writing; involvement in politics; advertising and self-promotion; developing sales and marketing strategies.

“Live your beliefs and you can turn the world around.” Henry David Thoreau

Cosmic Watch:

With the Full Moon in archer Sagittarius (7:08 pm), we potentially focus our attention on our beliefs and convictions. Living authentically from our own point of truth is often regarded as the greatest gift that we can give to both ourselves and the world.

Too, the world around us may begin to change in bold and daring ways now with the entrance of liberating, revolutionizing Uranus into pioneering Aries, the sign of personal identity. (at 9:50 pm EDT).

Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, depicts new beginnings, particularly new personal beginnings. Uranus’s ingress into Aries ideally gives us a chance to free up how we think and feel about ourselves, potentially allowing us more options/possibilities.

Uranus will be in Aries for 7 years (although it will retrograde back into Pisces later this summer for a while before it firmly establishes here early 2011).
