I am in the midst of going through/reviewing some of my older astrology blogs on this site. Today, I came across a blog on the transiting Sun square to Uranus, which I wrote and published on July 12, 2015. (At the time, the Sun was in Cancer and Uranus was in Aries.) Anyway, I thought I would go ahead and include an excerpt from that blog below since we also have the Sun in Aquarius exactly square to Uranus in Taurus on February 16th (at 12:02 am), a similar influence except for the sign placements. Hope you enjoy!

“The nature of life is such that it continually requires us to take ongoing leaps in the dark, or to venture down roads that we’re not altogether familiar with. Today, with the empowering Sun squaring experimental Uranus, the planet of change, innovation, and rebellion, it appears that we tend to thrive, or come more fully into our own now, by intentionally cultivating a love of the unknown; by deciding to tolerate or accept ambiguities; by finding a way to make peace with possibly uncomfortable outcomes or results that may not be exactly what we had originally intended or envisioned for ourselves, but which may be very valuable and necessary for our soul’s unique purpose.

Lao Tzu taught that life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes, and that we should not resist them as that only causes sorrow. Always very good advice to heed, but especially for today when a wave of uncertainty seems to be on the horizon.

On another level, if we’ve been hoping for a breakthrough or a discovery, Sun-Uranus could very well deliver one. This influence also favors taking unconventional approaches to problems.

Also, because this energy tends to speed things up, it may be the kind of day in which we feel more physically or mentally restless. Accordingly, allowing ourselves to deviate from our routine, might be a very good way to play the day. We also may want to get more rest and watch what we eat now, particularly avoiding, or cutting back on, food or beverages, or even activities, that over-stimulate us, or cause us to stay awake, or get too excited.”

(Mercury in Cancer sextiles Uranus in Taurus, 10:16 am)

Today, we may be receiving a heavenly deposit into our “genius” bank account (Uranus in Taurus) potentially raising our personal “brilliance quotient” to record-new levels! But will it be enough to cover the rent or the mortgage? Or to put food on the table? (Typical Mercury in Cancer concerns.) Or maybe help to finance a brand new shiny Tesla? Unfortunately, only “Who” knows. And, rather predictably, “Who” is choosing to remain exasperatingly mute on the topic. Guess we will have to fashion our own ending to the story…To be continued! 🙂

Seriously, Mercury sextile Uranus can be a very cool, energizing influence for us, cognitively speaking. This planetary aspect is associated with sudden flashes of insight or intuition, ingenuity, innovation. Needless to say, a great day to jot down our ideas, even if we do not act upon them, just yet. Additionally, today may be an excellent time to seek out creative financing or funding for projects related to the home or family. Or to try out fresh new approaches with homefront issues. 

Question for Today: What is a more “off-the-wall” idea of yours that has really paid off for you in a big way?

On This Day in History: On June 7, 1965, The Supreme Court of the United States decides on Griswold v. Connecticut, effectively legalizing the use of contraception by married couples.

Regarding the astrology that day: Feminine Venus had just entered Cancer at one degree (the sign of the womb/family). The Moon had also shifted into matrimonial Libra, mid-morning. Jupiter (affiliated with judges and courts) and Mercury (decisions) were also conjunct in detached, cerebral Gemini and exactly square to change-oriented Uranus in health-related Virgo; and Saturn (convention, restrictions) in dissolving Pisces was in a close trine with accepting Neptune in sexual, reproductive rights Scorpio.

COSMIC WATCH:

We are excited about starting something new now with the Moon moving through “pioneering” Aries. Intellectual Mercury’s sextile to “radical, innovative” Uranus is also a boon for shifting our perspective and helping us arrive at new solutions. Too, Mercury is square to “expansive, philosophical” Jupiter, allowing us to take a broader view of things, although we may need to pay close attention to the details or fine print and avoid embellishing the facts.

COSMIC WEATHER:

The Sun, our fab “power source” and indicator of our “conscious will” and “ego,” departs traditional Capricorn for unorthodox Aquarius (5:19 am EST), where it will reside until February 18th. The Sun is joining energy dynamo Mars already stationed here. With both the Sun and Mars in innovative Aquarius, a far-sighted sign whose natives include Thomas Edison and Abraham Lincoln, we are presented with vast opportunity to “change things up,” incorporate new approaches, don new strategies. All we have to do is have the courage to venture outside of our normal boundaries.

Aquarius also symbolizes “immersion into group activities.” So it’s good time to network and mingle with others. To join or become members of groups in which we can share common goals and ideals. Aquarius as a level of experience signifies causes that benefit the collective.

Additionally, the nurturing Moon is journeying through colorful, creative Leo today and well-aspected to both love goddess Venus (4:18 pm EST) and stabilizing Saturn (9:26 pm EST). Romance and affectionate expression get the green light. Some could even agree to commitment, or at least some kind of positive collaboration (Saturn). Cosmic Watch:

We shape our reality with our thinking.  We also give away our power when we feel that outside forces are more powerful than we are.

With the Moon entrenched in detached, analytical Aquarius, it’s a good day to take the temperature of our thinking and to reflect upon the kinds of ideas that we are putting inside our heads, particularly the ideas about ourselves and our own capabilities.

Perhaps we have too many recycled, fear-based thoughts and not enough empowering thoughts of what we can do.

Maybe we are afraid to try new things because we are scared of ridicule or rejection.

Aquarius is about freeing ourselves from self-limiting beliefs and ideas. It is about going beyond the herd mentality and cultivating the power of our own original thinking.

Often the simple act of brainstorming or talking over ideas with friends can help us to see things in a new light.
