“Pure love and suspicion cannot dwell together: at the door where the latter enters, the former makes its exit.” Alexandre Dumas Pere

COSMIC WEATHER:

New Moon In “Sunny, Leadership” Leo, the sign of the proud Lion (at 11:09 pm EDT), endows us with more of a sense of our own personal power and authority. We are feeling more self-confident and magnanimous, as well as self-expressive and creative.

New Moons symbolize new beginnings and, correspondingly, they are times when we want to go ahead and set our new intentions for the month. So for the next two weeks, while the Exuberant Leo Moon is in its energetic waxing phase, we should be busy initiating new projects that utilize and showcase our shining, Leonine leadership abilities, as well as display our special, unique talents and gifts.

Glamorous Leo also likes to party hearty and entertain. Get those invitations to local celebs and dignitaries in the mail!

Speaking about partying, we also have merry “Party King” Jupiter in “Adventurous” Aries opposing “Party Queen” Venus, in “Let’s Fall in Love” Libra today. It can be a very romantic aspect, but also highly self-indulgent. As many of us know, too, sometimes too much of a good thing, can end up being a bad thing, so we need to try to cultivate some moderation here. That is, unless, of course, actor George Clooney is in the picture. At which time, wild abandon and excessive behavior are perfectly acceptable and wholly expected. Right, ladies?

The real “Biggie” from the Universe today, however, and into Tuesday, is the “High Drama” Venus square Pluto aspect. Remember the “Balloon Boy” incident last fall in the U.S., when many of us thought an adorable, inquisitive, little boy was perched inside a ridiculous, weird looking, silvery balloon, that looked like a primitive space ship, that was floating way above a rural countryside somewhere? I think it was in Colorado.  That was a “Venus-Pluto” day.

Then, most recently, we had the Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York scandal, in which she was reportedly trying to sell “access” to her ex-husband, Prince Edward. Another ‘Venus-Pluto” day. That was a very sad situation.

So we may want to keep a close eye on the news to see what kind of “soap opera” type drama might be playing out in the collective today.  Could even involve more “spies,” with Master Spy Agent Pluto, front and center.

Venus, the love principle, rules our desire for relationships and connections.  When it is aligned with “Manipulative, Control Freak” Pluto, our noble need for love can be subverted and debased in the worst way.  We can become jealous, obsessive, and controlling or become emotional victims of people who treat us in this manner.

Pluto characteristically acts with a lot of suspicion. With Venus-Pluto today: We’re actively looking for lipstick on the collar, whispered conversations, hang-up calls.  We’re driving by places of employment, to see if Joe or Helen really went to work.

Too, we already have the “going overboard,” Venus-Jupiter aspect, on the drawing board for today, which may make this Venus-Pluto influence even more potent and dramatic to handle.

Because I do also like to be positive here, on occasion, and not “all gloom and doom,” it should be mentioned that “Venus-Pluto” can be very regenerating and transforming. “New life” may be breathed into something earlier “left for dead”. Or we may also suddenly, sometimes through a course of events, have a fresh “internal awareness” or “consciousness” about the state of a relationship(s), that ends up being very transformational and positive for us. We could also meet people today with whom we have pivotal karmic issues to work out. Venus square Pluto is another one of those “”soulmate arrival” aspects.

Interestingly, Elvis Presley also had Venus opposite Pluto in his personal horoscope.  This aspect played out between his second and eighth houses, the houses that are associated with personal money and possessions (2nd house), and money shared and managed by others (8th house).

Elvis had that highly-publicized relationship with his Business Manager, Colonel Tom Parker, that was reportedly “very controlling,” with Parker at the “controlling end of it,” which would definitely fall under the parameters of the Venus-Pluto aspect. Especially since Pluto was in Elvis’ eighth house of other people’s money management.

How the Venus-Pluto aspect played out in his personal romantic relationships, of course, we don’t really know for sure. But he did passionately pursue Priscilla for many years apparently with a lot of intensity and most likely leveraged quite a bit of control over her. It could be, too, that he was, or became, personally controlling in relationships, in general, out of necessity, and as a response to his intense environment.  It seems like everyone wanted a “piece of Elvis,” wanted to “control him” in many ways, most likely for their own Plutonian gain.

Too, women, representing Venus here, were always throwing themselves at him in a highly suggestive, sexual way, and Pluto is very sexual, as co-ruler of Scorpio, the sex sign. So we do know how Venus-Pluto played out in that realm for Elvis. Plus, Venus rules creativity, singing, and music, and he had a transformational (or Plutonian) influence on the music industry.  His Venus-Pluto was also part of that “Grand Cardinal Cross” that I spoke about in my blog the other day.

Patricia’s Astrology Horoscope August 8, 2010: Feeling Lonely?

“I have the true feeling of myself only when I am unbearably unhappy.” Franz Kafka

COSMIC WEATHER:

Love Goddess Venus conjuncts Restrictive, Subdued Saturn (1:24 pm EDT) in relationship Libra. Part of the dramatic, historic “Cardinal Cross” adventure playing out in the heavens. This is the first match-up in this sign between these two planets since October of 1982, nearly thirty years ago.

With Venus-Saturn, our hearts may feel heavier. However, more depth is also possible in our relationships.  There may also be the desire to “push for more commitment,” as security issues tend to loom larger.

Venus-Saturn can additionally deliver “soul mates” to us. Saturn is known as “The Lord of Karma.”

On the other hand, there’s a chance with this same aspect, for more “distance” to come between us, too, in our interpersonal relationships, as we may poignantly become aware of our sharp differences with others and unsure of our ability to resolve them. We may also just want to let some ties end now.  Venus-Saturn is often synonymous with pruning.

Some people, too, may simply leave our lives now because they’re no longer suppose to be there. The karmic assignment we had with them is finished, kaput. People and relationships, we all have “expiration dates.”

Later in the day, with the Moon’s exit out of maudlin Cancer and entry into warm, entertaining Leo (7:23 pm EDT) the “heavier” emotional energy is more dissipated, and our spirits are more animated. Still some drama could erupt, though, as Leo is very good on the stage.

“Venus conjunct Saturn

We’re feeling lonely and blue

and, oh, so unpopular.

We’re wondering, too, if maybe the TV commercials are right after all: That whiter teeth and fresher breath could save the day for us, romantically. But which brand of whitening toothpaste to buy?  That is the monumental question, isn’t it? And, should we stick with regular Listerine or try their newer, purple-colored option? And, is it okay to use both and maybe mix them up? Have you personally tried mixing them together? And, if so, what color did you get?

I wonder, too, if certain mouthwashes are more popular with certain kinds of people?  Do aging hippies, for instance, prefer the purple Listerine because it reminds them of their psychedelic youth?

I wonder what kind of mouthwash President Obama used to attract Michelle?  Or, Elvis, to attract Priscilla?

Too, maybe certain brands of mouthwash are better for certain astrological signs’ romantic prospects than others? For instance, the outgoing, energetic fire signs might score more with a louder, red-colored mouthwash, indicating more vibrancy. While the retiring water signs might fare better, romantically, going with the muted pastels, denoting receptivity.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrojFR7jM9E

Venus and Saturn also symbolizes “father figures” and “May-December,” romances, which could also blossom today around the globe for a goodly number of people. Fondly reminiscent, too, of “Elvis and Priscilla.” Remember Priscilla’s beehive hairdo? I wonder how many bees Priscilla was able to fit in there?

As you may already know, Graceland and Memphis are getting ready to prepare for “Elvis Week,” this week, August 10th-16th, in Elvis’s “75th birthday” year. The annual event reportedly draws 30,000 to 40,000 people from around the world to Memphis. I recently read that, later in life, Elvis, a Capricorn, was very interested in astrology. He also had his Moon in mystical Pisces in the third house of the mind and was into meditation and fascinated with Eastern philosophy.

I also sort of wonder, as Elvis got involved in these things, later on, did he gravitate more towards pastel color mouthwashes in his life then, since he was activating the more receptive, Pisces side of his nature? Being an earthy Capricorn, his natural impulses would be to select mouthwashes comprised of the earth tones: browns and greens.

Enjoy your Sunday!

I hope you’re not lonesome tonight. Sometimes a little vacuuming can help, though, if you are, especially since we have the homey Cancer Moon. You might want to try vacuuming in two or three rooms and see if you feel any better. It’s about creating better feng shui, vacuuming up the dirty energy and putting it tortuously into the vacuum bag.  Just make sure that the debased energy cannot escape from the bag, at which point lonesome feelings could return with a vengence.

I also find that when you vacuum upright, with the upright version, versus stooping down, with the old canister kind, it’s more effective for dispelling loneliness. Especially if you close the blinds first, allowing for more of a sense of raw intimacy between you and the vacuum.

“You never lose by loving, you always lose by holding back.”  Barbra De Angelis

COSMIC WEATHER:

Moon continues in Nesting Cancer.

But far from a typical day on the cozy homefront.

We’re still in the clutches of “Venus opposite Uranus,” an electrifying aspect of “sudden love,” or “sudden infatuation,” with shadings to it of the rebellious sixties and the corresponding hippie counterculture, that was inspired, in large part, by Uranus.

This opposition aspect is part of the ongoing, very powerful, “Cardinal Cross” aspect, raging unattended in the sky now. This energy is a big game-changer, in many ways, and not just for the present period. Its legacy will play out for a long time to come, as individuals incarnating to Earth now will also be “locked in” with this type of highly-charged, “change-oriented” energy burning inside of them.

“Elvis Presley,” a Capricorn, comes to mind here as someone who was born with a rare “Cardinal Square,” (if you also count a wider orb for his Mars aspects), involving some of the same planets as today, including Uranus in Aries.  We know how he single-handedly managed to “change the world of music” and impact the world. “Uranus,” which is associated with “genius,” was in Elvis’s fifth house of talent.

Also, getting back specifically to Venus-Uranus: For those faithful horoscope readers with short-term memories, Venus again rules “love” and “relationships,” while Uranus, as we just mentioned, rules “change” and “innovation,” and intrinsically acts in ways that are “non-conforming” and revolutionizing.

Get these two energies together, and also throw in today’s sentimental Cancer Moon, with its deep fondness for living in the past (even though we also have a potent”change influence” occurring now), and we have all the ingredients for a serious “hippie meet-up and revival,” which is exactly what is playing out downstairs in our study.

Romantic Matchmaker, Venus in Libra, with her dizzying penchant and fondness for party-planning, has orchestrated for this evening, along with Uranus, a psychedelic “love-in” for aging hippies, released cautiously for a Saturday night out (with certain restrictions), from the Shady Tree Retirement Home down the road.

Venus and Uranus already have batches of those “funny-tasting brownies” baking in the oven. Their weird, odorous aroma, making us “slightly hallucinatory” at this time.

Enjoy your Saturday!

Peace and love!

I’ll try to make it back by on Sunday for another horoscope round.  Not sure now, though, whether I can. It all sort of depends on whether George Clooney “comes a callin” at my door Saturday night. Hope springs eternal.

“There is only one success – to be able to spend your life in your own way.” Christopher Morley

Cool day in the cosmos!

Saturn, which has been retrograde since January 13, stations direct today and will gradually start moving forward again. Saturn denotes hard work, responsibility, and all the corresponding structure that we erect in our lives as a result of our various sustained efforts.

Saturn’s forward momentum signals that we now have the green light to move ahead with our goals and dreams.  We may also start seeing some of our previous labors beginning to pay off for us. Saturn likes to reward us for our due diligence and simple day-to-day nose to the grindstone activities.

I thought the Christopher Morley quote for today was also very timely here because so often in life we choose to define our personal success in terms of other people’s definition of success for us. In the process, we tend to lose sight of what is in our heart.

Today, on this Saturn-themed day and also with the Moon in Capricorn, the sign that Saturn rules, it’s a good time to perform a “Saturn reality check and tune-up” and have an authentic dialogue with ourselves to make sure that we are indeed proceeding in the right direction in terms of advancing our soul’s sacred purpose.

If we are not, we should ask ourselves, why not?  What in the heck are we waiting for, more ideal conditions to manifest? We could spend the rest of our lives waiting for that to happen and in the mean time, life is passing us by.  Better to start from the point where we are at and then begin creating the circumstances that we want to see in our lives, don’t you think? Saturn stationing direct here, too, can greatly help to provide us with wisdom from our past experience, as we are capable of seeing things more clearly now and connecting the dots.

In sports:

The Phillies’ Roy Halladay pitched a perfect game yesterday!

When I heard about this, I immediately thought about Uranus, the “genius” planet, and its fresh ingress into Aries, the sign of sports and baseball. Could there be a connection?

Celebrity news:

“Screen rebel” Dennis Hopper died yesterday at the age of 74 after a prolonged illness. I personally will always remember him as the motorcycle riding, pot-smoking character in Easy Rider.  Hopper, however, had a bevy of gifts.  He was not only an actor and director, he was also an accomplished photographer, painter and sculptor.

Dennis Hopper was born 5/17/36.  He fittingly had imaginative Neptune at the very top of his chart near his career house.  Neptune rules all the creative areas that he ended up pursuing with respect to his career. His Taurus Sun also added to his artistic instincts and abilities. When I think of Taurus, too, I think of the great painter Pablo Picasso, who had in his horoscope, four planets conjunct in the sign of Taurus in his career house. Taurus is associated with things of beauty.

Hopper also had rebel Uranus in Taurus in his fifth house of self-expression.  Perhaps that is why he naturally resonated to a more defiant theme. Pioneering and aggressive Mars was also conjunct his Sun reinforcing this same bent and making him adventurous and impulsive as well.

Interestingly, Dennis Hopper’s horoscope is similar to Elvis Presley’s (a Capricorn) horoscope.  Elvis had Neptune at the top of his chart and Uranus in Aries exactly conjunct his fifth house of self-expression. Elvis, of course, revolutionized the music and entertainment industry, especially with his original and defiant onstage performances that were also very sexual (Aries) in nature. Neptune also rules music.

Both Dennis and Elvis additionally had Sagittarius Ascendants, making them very freedom-loving and also accentuating their Uranian need for spontaneous expression.

Neptune, which has to do with drugs, also stressfully squared each of their Ascendants (the Ascendant rules the body). Both had serious issues with drugs, using drugs as a form of escape or coping mechanism. Elvis actually died when the transiting Neptune was exactly conjunct his Ascendant. Drugs were implicated in his death and no doubt hastened his demise.

I am always looking for symbolic connections among the stars and events on earth, as I do feel we are all linked as one.  I did think it was very symbolic that Dennis Hopper died just as Rebellion Guru, Uranus, entered Aries, the sign of new beginnings, as he  personified so much the “do your own thing” Uranus in Aries spirit.

Too, while his life was never an easy ride, he seemed to have really lived an authentic life, one that was true to his soul’s purpose.  So, in that respect, he died a great success, don’t you think?

May you rest in peace, Dennis Hopper.

Enjoy your Sunday. Follow your heart. Live your dream.

Astrology Beatles: Paul, John Meet Under “Venus Uranus”

1950s, 1960s, 2010, April 25, astrology, astrology signs, Beatles, destiny, Elvis "Loving You" movie debut, Elvis Presley, England, fate, horoscope, John Lennon and Paul McCartney meet for first time, John Lennon horoscope, Leo rules entertainment, Liverpool, love, Mars conjunct in Leo, Mars in Leo, music, Paul McCartney horoscope, Pluto in Leo, rock n roll, Saturn trines, Uranus, venus, Venus conjunct Uranus, Yoko Ono, zodiac

Three days before Elvis Presley’s second movie ‘Loving You’ debuted in theaters, John Lennon and Paul McCartney met for the first time as teenagers on July 6, 1957.  John had formed a group called ‘The Quarrymen’ and was playing with his band at the Woolten Parish Church Garden Fete when the two were introduced.  Later in 1960, the two men would form the group ‘The Beatles.’

Most of us meet new people all the time in the course of our daily lives. In cases when we have an attraction or fascination with someone, astrologers like to look to the aspects of Venus, the relationship planet, that governs love and attraction.

Venus also represents artistic and musical expression, as well as money and possessions. It also pertains to physical beauty.

In the heavens on the very day that John and Paul met, Venus was exactly conjunct the highly individualistic, freedom-loving Uranus. Both planets were in the creative, entertainment sign of Leo.

I put a lot of stock in the cosmic energy that is around us when we meet people in our lives. I think it sheds important clues as to the karma and destiny of the relationship. Of course, it’s best to have the exact moment when two people meet, so you can cast the full horoscope.

Venus-Uranus aspects are often characterized as “love at first sight.” Uranian energy is electrifying, like a sudden bolt of lightning out of the blue.

Uranus also rules inventors and can denote genius.  Uranus’s ray stirs up original, even radical impulses within us.  The Venus-Uranus relationship may be inclined to break with the norm in many ways, as well as challenge convention.

Later, of course, when John and Paul were with the Beatles’ they would revolutionize the world not only with their music but also with their long hair which was so different than the prevailing styles, but it set them apart and probably greatly added to their success as well as uniqueness.

Venus-Uranus can denote striking looks and charismatic appeal.  Elizabeth Taylor, for example, has Venus exactly conjunct Uranus in her birth horoscope.

In addition to Venus conjunct Uranus in Leo, energetic and pioneering Mars was also closely conjoined with both of them, just three degrees away, on July 6, 1957.  All three were harmoniously and powerfully trine to longevity Saturn in Sagittarius, the sign which rules publishing.

Perhaps the rewarding Saturn trines helped them to later achieve worldly success with the publishing and recording of their unique blend of music, as well as adding a lasting quality to their relationship.

Sometimes Venus Uranus relationships do not endure over time, and while John and Paul did have their ups and downs and were separated from each other, the byproducts of their relationship will always endure in terms of their musical legacy.

Saturn also helps us to focus and discipline ourselves and aligned to the three Leo planets they were able to successfully channel their creativity.

So, in recapping the energy of that fateful day, we see that there was grand opportunity for creative expression (exemplified by Venus) and this creativity would ideally be able to embody originality and even elements of genius (Uranus).

There was also the trailblazing Mars energy suggesting a passion for pioneering something new.  The trines to Saturn made it all come together successfully in the world.

The public reaction later to John and Paul, as part of the Beatles, and the music that they wrote could also be characterized as very Venus-Uranus, in that many of us instantly fell in love with them and their songs.

Mars conjunct Venus, too, can be a romantic influence and probably why Paul and John wrote so many love songs.  Plus the influence gave the pair sex appeal and charisma.

The erratic and more volatile Mars Uranus conjunction also perhaps fueled a rebellious streak in their relationship with each other and this was depicted in their music at times as well.  Mars-Uranus also helped to firmly establish them as trend setters in the world.

It’s interesting, too, that when John and Paul met each other, Elvis Presley, whose music played a big role in their lives, also seemed to be at his prime, in terms of his display of raw talent and creativity.  Pluto, the transformer, was importantly at the end of Leo then.

When a planet gets to the end of the sign, I often think it’s very symbolic and represents the highest or fullest expression of the energy of that sign.  Of course, in this case, Leo rules entertainment and self-expression.  Pluto always has a powerfully regenerating affect on us.  It also rules the masses and affects mass consciousness.

With Pluto at the end of Leo, we not only had Elvis transforming the entertainment world with his original stage performances and riveting music, we also had John and Paul coming together for the first time.  John and Paul would later reshape the music industry, as well as personally change many of us forever in the process.  All three introduced us to new levels of creativity and personal self-expression (Leo) through their art that we had not witnessed before and all had a huge impact on the collective (Pluto). They were all legends. What you would expect with Pluto who likes to debut historic firsts. And he saved the very best for the end of Leo.
