Cosmic Weather:

“If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is – infinite.” – William Blake

This Sunday, the empowering Sun is making its annual conjunction with imaginative Neptune in Pisces (7:42 am). Mingling with our more whimsical or ethereal side may be a welcome adjunct or alternative to the everyday trappings of the mundane realm now. This is often an excellent aspect for any creative endeavors as it can notably add to our envisioning ability. It is also possible that we are filled with a special sense of purpose (Sun) today that we perhaps had not really known or felt before. Sun-Neptune tends to be very supportive of transpersonal activities that transport us out of the domain of the ego and into the sphere of selfless service or into other outlets that somehow reflect or echo our shared humanity. It also can greatly sensitize us to what others are feeling as well as to what is going on in our surroundings. Our intuition may also be a more formidable force now and something we might want to lean into today.

The shadow side of this aspect can include, among other things, behavior that is addictive, escapist, delusional, or deceptive. Too, if it seems that our physical energies are on the decline now, it may be a good idea for us to perhaps take a quiet break or retreat from our regular routine and immerse ourselves in outlets that tend to replenish or restore the Spirit, such as meditation, reading inspirational works, or being by the water.

One famous figure in history that we may all be able to extract some inspiration from today is American Red Cross founder and self-taught nurse Clara Barton, born on Christmas Day in 1821. Barton is a perfect template of someone who publicly embodied the more elevated or higher-frequency side of the Sun-Neptune energy. She had her natal Sun, applying one degree, to an exact conjunction with both Neptune – and progressive Uranus – in the self-mastery sign of Capricorn. During the Civil War, Barton courageously risked her life to bring supplies and support to soldiers in the field.

“I may be compelled to face danger, but never fear it, and while our soldiers can stand and fight, I can stand and feed and nurse them.” – Clara Barton

Barton created the American Red Cross at age 59 and ran it for 23 years. She was also a noteworthy civil rights advocate at a time before women had the right to vote.

Meanwhile, the Waxing Moon will also enter commanding Leo this afternoon (3:32 pm), a possible chance for us to showcase our leadership ability as well as to relay or develop our talents/natural-born gifts. Too, later this week on Friday, we have the Worm Moon in Virgo: the last Full Moon of winter which also symbolizes the return of the robins and other birds to feed.

*All times EDT

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

“Before I can become an expert on anything, I must first become an expert on me.” Charles F. Glassman

COSMIC WATCH:

Maybe, blame it on the “playful, yet studious,” void-of-course Gemini Moon, but, for some reason, I just felt like doing something a little different here, today. So, what I’ve done is embody, what I perceive to be, the “main cosmic energy” of the day into what I feel are three, suitable archetypal figures (or patterns of identity) below, and then formulated a few questions around them. Too, there are no right or wrong answers. More, it’s simply an exercise in what happens to come up for you in the moment. Hope you enjoy!

Who would you rather be holed up with on a desert island, and why?

  1. A reporter (Moon in Gemini)
  2. A monk (Sun conjunct Neptune)
  3. An “Olympic athlete” (Mars trine Saturn)

Which of the three do you think has the hardest job? The easiest job?

Which of the three would you be the least comfortable around?

How are all three roles similar?

If you had to reincarnate as any of the three, which one would you pick?

How might any or all of these three archetypal patterns also be playing out in your life, right now?

Of course, too, you may also want to come up with your own archetypes for today, especially if none of these resonate with you. You could also even choose archetypes that might be manifesting more of the darker side of today’s energy, simply as models of study. I also just thought of another question to ask: Assuming you believe in a Higher Power, if you were living your life purely from your Spirit or Soul today (Sun conjunct Neptune) – instead of from your “self-survival” oriented Ego – what might you be guided to do now? Any big changes you might consider making? Or, with what you currently have on the drawing board for your self, do you think you would you be following through with this agenda now – or might you be scrapping it, or possibly tweaking it, with your Soul at the wheel? Do you also see your life necessarily “as better” directed from your soul’s compass?

Astrology February 25, 2015: Mars Trine Saturn, Sun Conjunct Neptune

“Don’t wish it were easier. Wish you were better.” Jim Rohn

COSMIC WATCH:

Piatra Craiului, Romania 1

Most of us likely have heard the saying: Keep your nose to the grindstone. Meaning that we should apply our self conscientiously to our work. The Mars trine Saturn influence that we have, tonight, (10:09 pm EST) echoes that same sentiment. It’s an aspect associated with disciplined effort, steely resolve, strategic planning, knowing how and when to pace our self. Mars represents our assertive ability, Saturn our perseverance. The trine aspect signifies ease and harmony.

Too, have you ever come really close to giving up on something that you really wanted, but then decided, at perhaps the last minute, that you were going to hang in there with the matter, until you were victorious – and later, you were victorious? Remember, how good you felt about that success, that accomplishment? Mars trine Saturn periods are often times when we do also have occasion in the world to finally “reap our reward,” for applying our self. At the very least, we’re often able to win over our adversaries, opponents, or those persons who have authority over us, like our bosses, because they’re impressed with how we’ve managed to step up our game, or that we’ve diligently done our homework.

While the Mars-Saturn influence is exact, tonight, it will be lingering around for a few more days, so it may behoove us now to really go after what we want, leaving no stone unturned. Also, in case we’re somewhat unsure of what direction to take, or what to do, we should at least try to challenge our self to put something up on the drawing board, even if it’s only a plan, as that’s a beginning. Taking that action step also signals to the subconscious a willingness to be engaged with our life, and that opens the pathway for greater things to come.

Shortly after the Mars-Saturn trine, tonight, the “empowering” Sun is also having its annual meet-up (conjunction) with “transcendent” Neptune in Pisces (11:55 pm EST), an influence that, by contrast, tends to make us less concerned about achievement in the outer world and more interested in what’s going on within our interior world. This period is an excellent time for journaling, meditation, retreats, dream work, showing others kindness. Also for creative endeavors that allow us to use our imagination and visioning abilities. The Sun-Neptune influence will be around for the next day or two. “Inside us there is something that has no name, that something is what we are.” Jose Saramago

The Moon is also in “adaptable” Gemini, the entire day.

Question for Today: Would you rather have worldly success, or inner peace?

COSMIC WEATHER:

“All men have need of the gods.” Homer

The empowering Sun conjuncts mystical Neptune. We have a desire to transcend the mundane in our search for deeper meaning. We are also more willing to let our ego needs take a backseat to the needs of others. Neptune is linked with self-sacrifice, even martyrdom. It also rules compassion, as well as our imagination. The keywords for Neptune are: “Serve or suffer.”

Meanwhile, the Moon remains in self-expressive Leo (gearing up for the Full Moon on Friday).  Perhaps by helping to raise others up (Neptune in Aquarius), we discover that we also shine (Leo) in the process.

“Only a life lived for others is worth living.” Albert Einstein.

A note of caution: The shadow side of Sun-Neptune tends to put us “in a fog.” It is often harder to see things clearly. We are also more prone to deception (either from self or others), and disillusionment. So we may want to keep more of a detached air about us, and stay more focused on facts rather than fantasy.

On a collective level, too, Sun-Neptune has historically been associated with “extremism” or “fanaticism,” especially religious fanaticism. This is mainly because with Sun-Neptune, we often feel that we are carrying out a “higher agenda” and therefore possiby assume that we have carte blanche to do whatever we feel we need to do in order to further our perceived noble causes. Neptune also rules persecution. It additionally represents groups that are disenfranchised or otherwise somehow down on their luck.

With that said, this is highly creative energy, today and tomorrow, especially with the theatrical Leo Moon also at play. Too, Neptune rules visual images. Our ability for positive visualization is, therefore, very keen now. We may also want to pay closer attention to our Neptune-ruled dreams for pivotal clues to our subconscious meanderings.

“All the things one has forgotten scream for help in dreams.” Elias Canetti

Neptune’s colors are turquoise, green, and magenta. To tune into Neptune’s meditative ray, we may want to wear and or surround ourselves now with these colors. Also, we might consider burning incense and putting on soft, soothing music. Creating a more contemplative environment in our homes. Water therapy is also ideal, as Neptune rules liquids, gels, and the sea. Given that the Moon is also in entertaining Leo, we may want to take in a play or movie, or attend a concert.

Famous Birthdays February 17th: Michael Jordan (48), Paris Hilton (30), Gene Pitney (would have been 71)

“Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.” Michael Jordan

“When you are in Love you can’t fall asleep because reality is better than your dreams.” Dr. Seuss

Hopefully, that will be the case for many of us today. That we will be so smitten with the Love Bug, that we won’t be able to sleep or eat.  We may not even care to vacuum, which would be just unbelievable to me, but it could theoretically happen.

The reason why is Love Goddess Venus is entering royal Leo (4:50 am EDT) and making a harmonious trine to Uranus, the planet of sudden attractions and personal magnetism. Venus-Uranus is synonymous with “love at first sight.”

Even non-romantic relationships started now can be very exciting and full of possibilities.  John Lennon and Paul McCartney met under a Venus-Uranus conjunction in Leo – and see where their relationship took them! And, aren’t we all so very glad that those two hooked up?

I can’t imagine what my life would have been like had I not grown up with the Beatles.  They had a profound impact on shaping our culture, not to mention their singular and vast contributions to music. Plus how many of us were also “in love” with them?  It seems like many of us each had our favorite Beatle. Mine was always Paul, with John a close second. (You may also want to read an earlier blog here that I did on John and Paul’s first meet up under Venus-Uranus.)

Venus is associated with creativity and conjoined with inventive Uranus this influence can be very powerful for writing original music compositions, such as was the case with Paul and John. Or for rendering unique artistic pieces. This would also be a good time to purchase more unusual art work, especially as an investment.  Too, this creative Venus-Uranus influence augments the excellent influence that we now have for writing with the Sun moving through articulate Gemini.

Because Uranus is the “Change Planet,” we may also be attracted to persons now we normally would not be attracted to. We are more willing to experiment.  We are also more inclined to be tolerant of behaviors that we don’t understand.

This Venus-Uranus aspect also correlates with and favors more non-traditional or unconventional unions.  Often on Venus-Uranus days, for example, issues of sexual orientation and same-sex marriage come to the forefront.

Venus will stay in regal Leo until July 10th during which time we will want to be romantically courted and wined and dined in fine style. Venus in Leo loves complete adulation and also loves to party! May want to keep a close eye on making too many extravagant purchases now, one pitfall here.

The Moon will be in sensitive Cancer all day and then shift into dramatic Leo at 11:55 pm EDT adding even more to the emotional fanfare.

Event in History on this date: Auschwitz concentration camp opened on June 14, 1940.  Over 3 million people were killed there. At the time the camp opened, the transiting Gemini Sun was exactly square to undermining, deceptive, delusional Neptune in purification Virgo. Mercury, governing thinking, was in protectionist Cancer conjunct warrior Mars, the planet of violence.  Mercury-Mars is associated with aggressive thoughts and acts of violence. Mars also formally rules the military.

It’s interesting, too, from a historic perspective, at the start of the Boxer Rebellion in China in 1900, the Sun was also exactly conjunct Neptune the day the systematic killings of foreigners got underway. Neptune is associated with fanaticism and distorted viewpoints, delusional thinking.  JFK was another person assassinated when Saturn was square Neptune. Also, ethnic violence and killings are presently taking place in Krygyzstan in Russia and we have Saturn quinqunx Neptune now.

I joke around here often about Neptune being spacey, etc., but Neptune is often no joking matter.  The current Saturn Neptune quinqunx aspect (Neptune rules oil and water) also figures into all the confusion and chaos that is and has been going on in the Gulf of Mexico stemming from the BP oil spill, plus there have also been other new oil spills under this same planetary configuration and Chiron in Pisces.

Neptune tends to undermine our confidence and can make us lose hope when it is receiving hard aspects.  A lot of times, too, under Neptune, the things that happen often don’t seem to make any sense and they are often very ego-denying and humbling to us, both individually and collectively. Neptune is also associated with scandal and embarrassment.

News Update:

The New York Times is reporting the United States has discovered nearly $1 trillion in untapped mineral deposits in Afghanistan, which is far beyond any early known reserves and enough to alter the Afghan economy and perhaps the Aghan war itself, according to senior American government officials.  It could be decades, however, until mining operations are fully established.

What is fascinating about this story here, astrologically, is pioneering Mars in earth-sign Virgo is now powerfully applying to an exact trine (harmonious) to Pluto in earth-sign Capricorn. This is a MAJOR transforming aspect.  Pluto rules the mining industry and what is hidden in the earth. Capricorn, too, rules government and this discovery will fundamentally impact or transform (Pluto) the Afghan people and government probably forever. Mars

Very interesting too that this news is coming out with Venus trining the life altering Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in the discovery and war sign of Aries. As I’ve been writing all along, Jupiter-Uranus is huge for discoveries and surprising developments.

June 14th birthdays: Donald Trump, Dorothy McGuire

Cosmic Word of The Day: “Pompous.” We’re feeling a little bit more this way with Venus’s beautiful ingress into proud Leo.

Enjoy your Monday! Hope you fall head over heels today! Give me a report.
