COSMIC WEATHER:

“Identity is destiny.” Stephen Covey

We have a New Moon at 14 degrees of Aries today (10:33 am EDT). Aries, by the way, symbolically represents our “self-identity,” in reference to the Stephen Covey quote above. New Moons also signify “new beginnings,” and this one occurring here, in the first sign of the zodiac, is the equivalent of having a “double whammy,” as Aries denotes “new starts.”

Too, we just had “energizer” Mars, the ruler of Aries, re-enter its own sign yesterday, joining the Sun, Mercury, Jupiter and Uranus. Mars is also conjunct “liberating” Uranus today (4:52 pm EDT) in Aries, something that has not happened since May of 1932. Mars-Uranus is an electrifying, powerhouse of an aspect. It can be explosive, but it can also inspire genius and innovation.

Uranus also rules radio broadcasting and the last time these two planets paired up in adventurous Aries is exactly when late comedian Jack Benny‘s “radio program” debuted on the air (May 2, 1932). Benny was also an Aquarian (a sign ruled by Uranus). Jack Benny, with his comedic genius (Uranus) ended up being a pioneer (Aries) in the entertainment industry. He liberated many of us  from our sordid daily routines by making us laugh. His more rebellious, wacky brand of humor was highly original and had “Uranus” stamped all over it.

Also, a synchronistic, personal tie-in here to today’s Aries New Moon and also the Mars conjunct Uranus aspect: A few minutes ago, while I was still lying in bed listening to soft jazz on the radio, a song suddenly came over the radio with the powerful lyric, “As long as you are breathing, you can start all over again.” I had never heard this song before (don’t even know if that is the title of the song), but as soon as I heard it, I knew that I had just experienced, in an uncomplicated way, the basic essence of the New Moon in Aries: As long as we are alive, we all have the option of beginning anew!  Yes, this is true! Too, this came over the Uranus-ruled radio! So very cool.

Mars-Uranus is also an aspect which triumphantly proclaims and celebrates our uniqueness and individuality, strong support for the “identity-seeking” Aries New Moon. So, let’s start (Aries) something spectacular and grand today with our lives. Make the mighty contribution that only we alone can make. The New Moon’s opposition to “form-builder” Saturn also ensures that, if we are “serious” (Saturn) about creating new beginnings, we can do it!

“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.” C.S. Lewis

Astrology March 20, 2011: “Spring Equinox,” Sun in Aries, Charles Lindbergh

COSMIC WEATHER:

“Be willing to be a beginner every single morning.” Meister Eckhart

Today is the “spring equinox.” The official start of the astrological “new year,” when the Sun ingresses into “Aries the Ram,” the sign of new beginnings (7:21 pm EDT). In astrology, the “empowering” Sun symbolically represents our “core” or “center” around which everything else revolves. It is our deep “sense of self.”

The keywords for Aries are “I am.” On a personal level, this sign is all about discovering who we are as distinct creatures apart from the pack. It’s about reveling being in our own skin. Excitedly making our humble, unique contribution to the planet.

The Sun joins Mercury (thinking), Jupiter (opportunity), and Uranus (genius) already stationed in Aries. Too, almost as soon as the Sun enters Aries it conjuncts “awakening” Uranus (tomorrow), the electrifying “poster child” for change and innovation.

“Liberating” Uranus also rules aviation and the very last time we had the Sun nearing Uranus at the early part of “pioneering” Aries, back on March 21, 1928, is when aviator Charles Lindbergh was presented his “Medal of Honor” for his first trans-Atlantic flight. When we think of how aviation has drastically altered (Uranus) civilization on this planet, “freed us up” in many ways, we can glean a fresh awareness of the unlimited possibilities that exist before us, both individually and collectively, with this game-changing, (Uranus in Aries) inventive energy at our disposal. Uranus, of course, also rules technology. Too, most of the time, the only real limits that we ever face are the “self-limiting beliefs” that we impose upon ourselves.

“The real gold is what you are.” Alan Cohen

“If we long to believe that the stars rise and set for us, that we are the reason there is a Universe, does science do us a disservice in deflecting our conceits?” Carl Sagan.

“It is not necessary to change. Survival is not mandatory.” W. Edwards Deming

COSMIC WEATHER:

Energy planet Mars, symbolically depicting the urge for self-assertion, takes the big plunge and officially sky-rockets into hi-tech, futuristic Aquarius, the opinionated, scientific home of wacky astronomers waxing delusional and very bitterly about 13 zodiacal signs. (See link below)  Mars will stay in this sign until February 22nd.

With Mars in Aquarius, a sign which represents cultural diversity and “changing things up,” we are eager to venture off into unchartered waters, as long as we are able to cart along, of course, our smart phones and other technological gadgetry. Aquarius rules innovation and invention, especially more of a scientific or technological nature.

Theoretically we “progress” now by embracing or cultivating change, and utilizing new approaches or strategies in our daily endeavors. As part of this orientation we may want to collaborate with more original-type thinkers, or more non-comforming types, to get a fresh take on things.  We may want also to expand our networking efforts now and get involved more with group causes, or group ventures (Aquarius rules groups and friends). Mars in Aquarius = energy for groups.

The Moon also enters curious, loquacious Gemini today. In Gemini, the Moon provides us with more of a penchant and willingness for flexibility. In other words, more of an ability to go with the flow. We’re not as rigid now, and we’re also wanting to physically move around. We have more of a capacity to see the humor in any situation, too, as this Moon tends to be more light-hearted and likes to laugh. Humor is a positive trait that often gets overlooked, but it’s something that can come in handy for coping with the mighty stresses and woes of living in Madonna’s material world, but, unfortunately, without Madonna’s nifty checkbook to tote around.

Questions to entertain with Mars deposited in Aquarius:

How are we about embracing change? Do we welcome new strategies, or prefer to stick with the tried-and-true?

Can we recall a time when we tried a new approach with something and it saved the day for us?

Is there any one area in our life now that could perhaps benefit by employing new methods? What about changing aspects of our sex life? Mars does rule sex. Hmmmm. Sex life??? Can’t quite recall what that’s all about? ::scratches head::

If we could change one thing about ourselves, what would it be? Our nose? Our brain? The pattern of our fingerprints?

How are we at interfacing with groups of people? Comfortable? Uncomfortable?

Are we more of a leader, or a follower?

Are there any social or humanitarian causes that we could maybe get involved with now? Aquarius pertains to immersion in matters that benefit the collective.

What is the most off-the-wall thing we have done in the past year? Have we even done anything off-the-wall, lately? If not, why not? Could it be that we are packaged too tightly, and that we should give ourselves permission to roam around a little, or a lot? Especially when we are trying to locate the ever-elusive George Clooney.

“They must often change, who would be constant in happiness or wisdom.” Confucius

With Mars in Aquarius, this is the time to take bold, decisive action to get out of our ruts. Out of our stagnation. We should never allow ourselves to think that change is not possible for us. It is, and now is the time to seek out that change! This is also an excellent time for putting new systems or procedures into place. In other words, erecting new infrastructure.

One project that I personally intend to do now is get rid of the ancient computer PC in my home-office. I never use it. All it does it sit on the computer table taking up space. This scenario has been going on for over a year now, ever since I got my new laptop, because I have been terrified at the thought of having to deal with all the plugs and cords, etc. plugged into the computer. Plus, I don’t know how to clean the hard drive. I have decided now, though, that with Mars in hi-tech Aquarius I am going to somehow figure out how to proceed here and get rid of the frickin’ thing. Free up the chi energy around me. In fact, I am resolving to go through every room in my house and purge. I want the environment “different” around me now. I want to tap into the newness and freshness of Mars in Aquarius.

Uranus Goes Direct in Pisces December 5, 2010

“Failure is not fatal, but failure to change might be.” John Wooden

The “radical change” planet Uranus stations direct in Pisces on December 5, 2010, after nearly a 5-month retrograde period. Uranus rules aviation, innovation,  revolution, technology, and scientific achievement. Uranus characteristically acts to “accelerate” or “quicken the pace” of events in our lives, both individually and collectively.

On a personal level, Uranus pertains to our “urge for individuality,” or need to “differentiate” ourselves from others. It also speaks to our “desire for freedom” or “liberation” from authority figures or restrictive situations. It frequently acts as kind of a “loose cannon,” symbolizing the “problem child” lurking inside each of us, who only wants to be a law unto himself.

Uranus additionally denotes our “intuition” or “sudden flashes” of insight. It is associated with “strokes of genius.”

Uranus spends approximately 7 years in each of the astrological signs, so after it leaves Pisces for Aries in March 2011, it will not be back in this sign for another 84 years.

Neptune-ruled Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac, signifies our “spiritual urge” or “desire for transcendence.” It governs our charitable and compassionate instincts, and our more ego-denying impulses. Pisces also correlates with fantasy and our imagination, having domain over our creative impulses.

It could be that with Uranus direct, once again, in Pisces, that we have an excellent chance, the next few months, to make notable progress regarding our spiritual path, perhaps experience new revelations.  Yoga, meditation, and prayer may be more potent now as avenues for accelerating our inner guidance and insight.

We may also want to pay closer attention to our dreams and, if we’re not doing so already, start keeping a dream journal, as Pisces rules dreams and the subconscious and Uranus can be a sudden  “awakening agent” here. It should also be an excellent time for psychic development, with Uranus ruling intuition.

Uranus additionally governs astrology. It may also be a good time to get more involved with this study, as a way of opening ourselves up to higher wisdom and self-knowledge.

On a personal note: One thing that I enjoy doing, in a bid to cultivate my own ESP, is to periodically sit down in the evening with a magazine and, with my eyes closed, while running my hands over the pages, I try to “read” the pages.  I specifically try to pick up pictures or images on the pages, or see if I can psychically glean the general theme of the page, or at least get a feel for any colors.  It’s a fun thing to do, and the results can be pretty amazing. At least this has been the case for me. This is something I’ve done for over 20 years. Maybe others may want to try doing the same thing now, with intuitive Uranus stationing direct in psychic Pisces.

Too, our creativity and artistic leanings (Pisces) could be primed for a big boost now with Uranus direct. Included here might be film-making, photography, writing, painting, music, songwriting, dance, poetry. It may be that immersion into “creative-type expression” serves as a liberating agent (Uranus) for us.

Of course, perhaps the most noble and worthwhile thing that we could all do with Uranus stationing direct in “selfless” Pisces is to become more involved in humanistic causes. Maybe do more volunteering. Or find other ways, maybe novel new ways (Uranus), of giving back to our communities, and to the planet.

Historically, on a collective level, the last time Uranus turned direct in Pisces, before entering Aries for seven years, was back in December of 1927. It stationed direct on December 10th that year.

Interestingly, on December 8, 1927, Valdimir Shatalov was born in Petrapavlovsk. He would later become a Russian cosmonaut (Uranian-ruled profession). Shatalov flew three space missions of the Soyuz programme.  Then, from 1971 to 1987, he was Commander of Cosmonaut Training, and Director of the Cosmonaut Training Centre from then until 1991.

Also, on December 12, 1927, Robert Norton Norce was born in Burlington, Iowa. He would eventually be nicknamed the “Mayor of Silicon Valley.” He co-founded Fairchild Semiconductor in 1957 and Intel in 1968 (Uranus rules technology).  Norce  is credited with the invention of the integrated circuit or microchip, along with Jack Kilby.

Maybe history will also repeat itself now.  Perhaps a few more, “high-level” Uranian types, will be incarnating to our planet in the near term, to eventually propel us all forward in a positive, accelerated manner.

Too, with Uranus stationing direct now, we may also want to pay closer attention to the news headlines, the next few days. Especially look for breaking news regarding insurrections, rebel causes (Juan Assange), and technological (the internet) and scientific advances or developments. Also, news about outer space or “the great beyond.” Also, we may want to monitor news of a more ‘spiritual’ or ‘religious’ nature (Pisces).

It should also be noted here that when we have a change of motion with a planet, in this case Uranus stationing direct from, the influence is felt for a few days before and a few days after the turnaround.
