Astrology November 22, 2023: Sun Enters Aspirational Sagittarius

Cosmic Weather:

“The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark.” – Michelangelo Buonarroti

The illuminating Sun – thought to govern our will, ego, and basic urge to be – rockets into aspirational, Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius today (9:03 am), potentially ratcheting up our desire to chase big dreams, hug distant new horizons. Also, a time when we may feel more comfortable using the bully pulpit to express/declare our views.

Motivator Mars, the action-planet, now nearing the ‘anaretic ‘ or 29th degree of Scorpio, will also be entering Sadge on the 24th as the Sun and Mars are still orbiting in conjunction (or in close proximity) to each other.

Sun-Mars energy is often associated with ushering in sudden, fast-moving developments. Too, on the shadow side, sometimes this more fluid pairing may coincide with partaking in rash or more impulsive behavior or actions that we may regret later.

Interestingly, the Sun and Mars were exactly conjunct this past Saturday morning, in secretive Scorpio (12:42 am), just prior to when CEO Sam Altman of OpenAI was reportedly axed by board members of that company for reasons that are still unknown, immediately sending ‘Scorpionic’ shockwaves throughout Silicon Valley and beyond. Now today, there are reports circulating that Altman has been re-instated as CEO at OpenAI – the company that is the purveyor of the popular ChatGPT.

Meanwhile, Waxing Luna leaves compassionate Pisces for enterprising Aries today (12:19 pm). Luna will also harmoniously trine the newly ensconced Sagittarius Sun, shortly thereafter (12:35 pm), hopefully allowing for an easy flow between our inner and outer selves. The Aries Moon may also enhance our desire to spontaneously, and more confidently or courageously, put things into motion now, especially with the Sun and Mars (which rules the Aries Moon) still paired together.

Astrology November 21, 2023: Mars Sextiles Makeover Guru Pluto

“The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek.” – Joseph Campbell

Today’s more penetrating Mars-Pluto sextile (exact at 8:18 pm) suggests that it may be easier now to align with our deepest desires as well as hidden motivations (Pluto signifies the subconscious) and, as a consequence, ideally be able to implement or manifest conditions around us that are more congruent with who we are at our core. Kind of like being able to adjust our radio dial to the exact frequency that we vibrate to so there is little to no interference.

Too, it may be an especially good time to engage ourselves with projects that we can get lost in for hours – in other words, that put us “in the zone” – because these types of all-encompassing activities tend to fully replenish our body, mind, and spirit. Mars-Pluto energy is widely perceived to equip us with a heightened ability to focus our time, attention, and resources.

“Always remember, your focus determines your reality.” – George Lucas

*All times EST

On This Day in History: On November 21, 1989, a law banning smoking on most domestic flights is signed by US President George H. Bush.

Astrologically, that day, action-oriented Mars was applying to a conjunction with Pluto in the transformational sign of Scorpio (an influence similar to what we have today). This planetary alignment is usually regarded as motivating us to tackle more consequential projects or undertakings often in a bid to dramatically reshape or alter the playing field around us. Mars was also nearly exactly sextile to a Neptune and Saturn conjunction in Saturn-ruled Capricorn. Dissolving Neptune rules, among other things, drugs and substance abuse issues, while ringed planet Saturn represents our ability to set limits or put restrictions around matters. Capricorn also rules government intervention.

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Astrology November 20, 2023: Scorpio Sun Sextiles Rebirthing Pluto

Cosmic Weather:

“We are all butterflies. Earth is our chrysalis.” – LeeAnn Taylor

With the Scorpio Sun sextiling rebirthing Pluto in Capricorn today (4:26 pm) – the modern-day ruler of Scorpio – there’s the perceived possibility/hope that this could be a more potent or productive period for turning things around in a healing manner. For getting unstuck. For ridding/purging ourselves of unwanted baggage or entanglements.

What has been hidden from view may also now suddenly emerge, possibly generating fresh new insights into things as a result. Sun-Pluto energy has often been described as shining a bright light into a cave. Mars will also repeat this same sextile to Pluto tomorrow.

(Some activities synonymous with Sun-Pluto include undertaking in-depth research, decluttering and refurbishing, rebuilding, dealing with estates, joint resources, insurance, psychotherapy, conducting seances, unraveling mysteries.)

We also have a First Quarter Moon in futuristic Aquarius this morning (5:50 am). This might encourage/energize us to take swift action on the New Moon intentions that we set a week ago as we may now have a better idea of how to proceed towards their manifestation.

Waxing Luna will also exit airy Aquarius for empathetic Pisces this morning (9:29 am).

Astrology November 18, 2023: Sun Conjuncts Mars

“You are what you do, not what you say you’ll do.” – Carl Gustav Jung

Cosmic Weather:

The authoritative Sun, symbolizing our ego and will, makes its annual conjunction with assertive Mars in investigative, transformational Scorpio today (12:42 am) potentially inspiring us to more confidently or courageously act upon or defend our deepest passions or ambitions while, at the same time, perhaps stoking our desire for employing new methods, new approaches, including embracing/welcoming new beginnings. Our adventurous streak is stronger now. Existing situations could also reach pivotal turning points.

Planetary conjunctions represent birthdays, of sorts. Fresh starts. To this end, Waxing Luna’s entrance into experimental Aquarius (6:28 am) also helps to support this more galvanizing, pioneering Sun-Mars energy.

While breakthroughs are possible – and perhaps more likely now – due, in part, to our potentially more determined, undaunted desire to go to the next level or see matters through to the very end, on the shadow side, we may also want to be more mindful of a tendency, at the moment, to go to extremes (the Scorpio energy), when perhaps a more nuanced approach might, ultimately, serve us better in the long run.

Too, proactively seeking to avoid engaging in more reactive behavior (such as throwing temper tantrums when something/someone provokes our ire) or taking measures to contain inflammable situations before they erupt or get out of hand may also go far to adding to the peace, stability, and success of the day. On the other hand, now may also be a healthy time to share/vent how we really feel about things in a bid to clear the air. This is also a good period for purging/repurposing items.

Additionally, now could be a litmus test to see how well we are using/abusing/wielding our personal power. We may also gain a fresh new understanding or awareness concerning what really excites us at our core/what truly makes us come alive.

“Mastering others is strength. Mastering yourself is true power.” -Lao Tzu

On This Day in History:  On November 18, 1963, Bell Telephone introduces the touch-tone telephone to customers in Pennsylvania. (Before this new advance, we had the old-fashioned rotary dial telephone.)

Astrologically, that day, enterprising Mars, in futuristic Sagittarius, was exactly sextile to solidifying Saturn in innovative Aquarius an excellent influence for building upon the trusty structure of the past.

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Cosmic Weather:

“I love the dark hours of my being. My mind deepens into them. There I can find, as in old letters, the days of my life, already lived, and held like a legend, and understood.” – Rainer Maria Rilke

Waning Luna – now in her Balsamic phase – shifted from showy Leo to nuts and bolts Virgo, early today (1:18 am), with a New Moon on tap for tomorrow night. This Moon phase is thought to be a premier time to ponder past moments with a hopeful eye to perhaps plucking away some jeweled insights that we can ideally use to make our lives shine brighter somehow in the stretch ahead. Especially advantageous for us now is the fact that the Moon is in professional film critic Virgo which can often help us to cut through a lot of the fluff at warp speed.

Luna also converses with Saturn Rx in Pisces, this morning (6:31 am), via an opposition aspect, suggesting some possible pushback should we go against “the rules” or not recognize or honor inherent limitations.

Luna also conjuncts Mercury Rx, late this afternoon (6:04 pm), with the Winged Messenger stationing direct on Friday. Talking about our feelings now or jotting them down in words may serve to usher in greater clarity. This may also be a good time to troubleshoot and find practical solutions or fixes to problems.

Cosmic Weather:

“The creative adult is the child who survived.” – Ursula Le Guin

The Waning Crescent Moon remains in colorful Leo all day. This may be positive for applying some last-minute creative flourishes to projects or activities that are nearing completion in order to ideally give them a tad more pizzaz or punch.

Teamwork or collaborative efforts are also potentially more supported this morning with Luna’s sextile to energizer Mars in cooperative Libra (8:06 am EDT).

Too, it may be easier to summon forth our inner social butterfly, this afternoon, as Luna conjuncts sweet Venus, Libra’s ruler (3:32 pm).

Today’s Waning Moon is also supportive for any releasing or decluttering activities. The Moon-Venus conjunction may also inspire us to want to seek to beautify our home environment or surroundings.

Cosmic Weather:

“Simple can be harder than complex. You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it’s worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains.” – Steve Jobs

This Thursday, intellectual Mercury in Gemini squares minimalist Saturn in Pisces (12:09 pm) so the idea of “doing more with less” may work to our advantage. It’s an excellent aspect for focusing, long-term planning, getting organized, whittling down our decision-making. In general, solid preparation can help to override our worries or fears now. It could also be that any rejection we may experience now may turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

“Every time I thought I was being rejected from something good, I was actually being re-directed to something better.” – Steve Maraboli

*All times EDT

On This Day in History: On June 15, 1965, Bob Dylan records his iconic single “Like a Rolling Stone.” It is the #1 song in Rolling Stone magazine’s “500 Greatest Songs of All Time.”

Astrologically, that day, artistic Venus in Cancer was involved in a Grand Trine in water with structuring Saturn in Pisces and imaginative Neptune in Scorpio – a very harmonious configuration that is thought to make it easier for us to manifest our visions or dreams, especially those of a creative nature, as this aspect suggests in-depth creative potential as well as depth of feeling.

Confrontational Mars, in critiquing Virgo, was also applying to an exact square to the empowering Sun in wordsmith Gemini – seemingly a perfect match for the song’s more confrontational lyrics. The lyrics are about a woman – a debutante – who has lost everything and is now living on the streets. The song is often interpreted as a commentary on the changing times of the 1960s. (Wikipedia)

Astrology June 10, 2023: Last Quarter Moon in Pisces

Tags

Cosmic Weather:

“I thank God for my failures. Maybe not at the time but after some reflection. I never feel like a failure just because something I tried failed.” – Dolly Parton

This second Saturday in June we are gifted with a Last Quarter Moon in contemplative Pisces (3:31 pm), which means that Luna is halfway between the last Full Moon and upcoming New Moon. The LQM is perceived to be an optimum time to retrieve the trusty scorecard, from out of our back packet, and evaluate our most recent spate of hits or misses, with an eye to moving on from what is deemed no longer achievable or practical. Likewise, this lunar phase is also regarded as an ideal period for looking ahead and crafting our intentions or goals for the next New Moon (which will be occurring in Gemini on June 18th).

Meanwhile, Luna in Pisces also suggests leaning more into our intuition now, or cranking up the volume on what our inner voice may be saying to us.

“Intuition is like reading a word without having to spell it out. A child can’t do that because it has had so little experience. A grown-up person knows the word because they’ve seen it often before.” – Agatha Christie

*All times EDT

On This Day in History: On June 10, 1935, Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) was founded in Akron, Ohio by Bill Wilson and Robert Smith (known as Dr. Bob).  The organization, which is now worldwide, was created to help people struggling with alcoholism and to provide them a safe space to share their experiences and support each other.

Astrologically, that day, Saturn, often billed as “the taskmaster,” which teaches us the power of self-reliance and self-discipline, was in compassionate Pisces and applying (one-degree) to an exact opposition to Neptune in health-oriented Virgo; Neptune also signifies, among other things, drugs, alcohol, and addiction issues.

Oppositions tend to deliver results or may bring matters to a climax or culmination. Ideally, Saturn opposing Neptune serves to supply us with more determination or resolve to face down our fears or weaknesses; it may also usher in a greater reliance or receptivity to the idea of a higher power helping to see us through our difficulties.

Also, on that date, communicator Mercury was in sympathetic Cancer and exactly sextile to innovative, group-oriented Uranus in grounded Taurus, an aspect which can help to foster new insights or facilitate new approaches.

“We are not cured of alcoholism. What we have is a daily reprieve contingent on the maintenance of our spiritual condition. Every day is a day when we must carry the vision of God’s will into all of our daily activities.” – Bill Wilson

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Astrology June 2, 2023: Venus Trines Neptune

Cosmic Weather:

“If I had a flower for every time I thought of you…I could walk through my garden forever.” – Alfred Tennyson

We greet this first Friday in June with love goddess Venus, in nurturing Cancer, trining transcendental Neptune in unifying Pisces (6:42 pm). Perhaps making a heavenly case for resting our haloed heads upon the shimmering, pillowy clouds, for a spell, possibly as a gentle respite from the harsher realities or constraints of the regular 9 to 5 world. This dreamier influence ideally bestows upon us greater sensitivity, compassion, and creativity. There can be a palpable yearning now for a more divine or unconditional love as we seek to look for the best in others.

Interestingly, on June 1, 1967, when the Beatles’ Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Album was released in the U.S., Venus was also in Cancer and trining Neptune in transformational Scorpio at the time. The widely recognized, surrealistically-styled (Neptunian) cover of the album depicts several dozen celebrities (including Marilyn Monroe, Carl Jung, Aleister Crowley, Bob Dylan) and other images. The image was made by posing the Beatles in front of life-sized, black-and-white photographs pasted onto hardboard and hand-tinted.

The Sgt Peppers’ cover image was created by Jann Haworth and Peter Blake, who in 1967, won the Grammy Award for Best Album Cover, Graphic Arts, for their work on it. Blake has said that the intention was to show the band surrounded by fans after a performance. (Wikipedia)

Cosmic Weather:

I love the challenge of starting at zero every day and seeing how much I can accomplish.” – Martha Stewart

This Tuesday morning, we step out of the gate with motivator Mars, in showy Leo, squaring everyone’s favorite optimist-junkie Jupiter – who is now officially headquartered in got-to-have Taurus. (1:13 am). Wanting to make a big splash in the world and spearheading things that generate seismic ripple effects, may simply be something too irresistible to pass up now. Especially if our lofty egos are involved! Too, while we may be able to pull off some whale-sized accomplishments, at the moment – particularly if we avail ourselves of opportunities that may suddenly appear before us – knowing when to dial it back a bit, may also prove to be a gallant strategy in the long run. Remember, Saturn’s rings are there for a reason!

Overall, though, this can be a fun and exciting day. Good for embarking on new adventures.

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, Wow! What a Ride!” – Hunter S. Thompson

*All times EDT

On This Day in History: On May 23, 1900, the Associated Press News Service (AP) began in New York. Astrologically, at the time, the empowering Sun had just entered the news and information sign of Gemini (the day before). Expansive Jupiter and innovative Uranus were also conjunct in truth-seeking Sagittarius, a sign in which we aspire to stretch our world views as well as supply greater meaning and understanding to what Gemini has gathered.

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.
