Cosmic Weather:

Often, it seems, it is not so much what is said, as the way that it is said that is most memorable and ends up packing the greatest punch. With the “winged-messenger” Mercury’s entrance into “kingly” Leo the Lion, later this evening (8:19 pm), the sign of the entertainer, our communication style now has a better chance of radiating our own personal flair, our sense of drama, our creativity, our warmth.

In Sun-ruled Leo, our words (Mercury) are given extra shine or luster (Leo rules gold). We are also capable of speaking/writing/articulating with more authority, more self-confidence (including more ego-involvement).

(Mercury will be going retrograde in Leo on July 7th and re-entering the sign of Cancer, mid-July, before it returns for another round in Leo, in mid-August. When Mercury is retrograde, we often go inward to review, recheck, revise or revisit our previous decisions/plans.)

Meanwhile, the Moon also continues her passage through enterprising, self-focused Aries today prompting us to take initiative, to be courageous.

On This Day in History: On June 26, 2015, US Supreme Court rules 5-4 same-sex marriage is a legal right across all US states.

Astrologically, on that day, the Moon was in the matrimonial sign of Libra (which also rules the courts). The North Node (the future) was also in Libra and was being squared (squares force issues) by the empowering Sun in empathetic Cancer.

Assertive Mars had also just entered Cancer (the sign of home and family) and was applying to a conjunction to the Sun as well as a square to the Libra North Node.

Additionally, relationship maven, Venus, was also moving into exact conjunction (2 degrees) with inclusive-minded, philosophical Jupiter (the planet that also rules judges). Venus and Jupiter were both in magnanimous, warm-hearted Leo.

(Today’s Planetary Aspects: The Moon is void-or-course in balancing Libra until 1:57 pm when it enters transforming Scorpio; Moon trines initiating Mars in protective Cancer at 5:01 pm. All times posted are for EDT.)

When we seize the moment, or are otherwise engaged with life, we tend to feel better about ourselves. The mere act of taking action also signals to the subconscious that we interested in our lives, and our future. Taking initiative is also a marvelous way for us to bolster our self-esteem and confidence.

Today, the Moon is void-of-course in Libra until 1:57pm, so for the first half of the day, it is best to continue with or finish projects that we already have in the works, or to use this time period for pausing or reflection. Once the Moon enters investigative Scorpio at 1:57 pm, we have the green light to go ahead with new endeavors. The Scorpio Moon imparts a strong desire to get at the truth. We are also more poised to be led by our passions at this time.

At 5:01 pm, the waxing Scorpio Moon forms a flowing trine to energizing Mars, which is newly installed in security-oriented Cancer. This harmonious aspect may motivate us to take swift, determined action toward our goals. This invigorating influence also gives us a wonderful chance to show off or display our leadership ability. On a personal level, this energy is excellent for building emotional rapport with others as well as for mending or reconciling our relational ties.

COSMIC WEATHER:

A much ballyhooed “New Moon in Aquarius” is taking place later today (9:31 pm EST). New Moons herald in new beginnings (see my earlier blog post on this lunation for all the dazzling details).

The Sun and Moon are conjoined “male energizer bunny” Mars in “reinvent yourself” Aquarius and also trine to “stabilizer” Saturn in “olive branch” Libra. What this cryptically means for all of us is that it is an excellent time to “take initiative” and to also be “innovative.” We will be rewarded accordingly, if we also are wise enough to incorporate some strategic planning into the equation and also seek out experienced counsel for close collaboration (Saturn in Libra).

This is a very cool time to showcase and cultivate our uniqueness and demonstrate to the world what sets us apart from the pack. Especially for the areas of life (the house) that this New Moon falls in, in our personal horoscope. At the same time, we may also find immersion in group activities (Aquarius) another liberating source of self-expression. Mentally we are capable of brilliance with Mercury sextile original thinker Uranus. Our intuition is on overdrive now and on target, so we need to pay close attention to it.

Also connection queen Venus is square freedom-loving Uranus, making our love life perhaps unpredictable, but potentially more exciting. We’re more attracted to wacky, oddball types now, so we need to keep this in mind before we run off and elope with the sexy lion tamer at the circus.

Too, romantic fantasies also reign supreme as Venus is forming a sextile to “all of our personal woes would dramatically recede, if we could only date George Clooney” Neptune, our savior. Venus-Neptune can signify hot, passionate romance with Hollywood stars (Neptune rules actors), and, of course, we are obligingly taking that translation very literally here. 🙂
