Cosmic Weather:

“Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you’re climbing it.” Andy Rooney

Venus and the Sun in Aries semi-square Jupiter in Aquarius: We are dazzled by the new. Looking for greener pastures. However, one pitfall here: We may overlook or discount some of the abundance/blessings already around us.

“Be thankful for what you have, you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.” —Oprah Winfrey

Moon in Virgo opposes Neptune in Pisces (11:05 am): The answers we are seeking may be hidden from view or confusing. Making assumptions about things could also backfire now, especially perhaps when it comes to figuring out other people’s motives. Striving to really listen to what others are saying now, though, could help to clear things up or cut through any confusion. On another level, this is nice energy to concern ourselves with the metaphysical/transpersonal realms or for guided imagery work.

Moon in Virgo trines Pluto in Capricorn (7:47 pm): This is an excellent time for repurposing, decluttering, recycling; getting in touch with our feelings or deeper motivations. We may experience powerful emotions.

Numerologically, March 27, 2021, is an “8” and “9” day. There’s a strong yearning to advance or get ahead. Also, a desire for self-mastery. Humanitarian impulses may also be prominent.

*All times EDT

On This Day in History: On March 27, 1980, Mt. St. Helens becomes active after 123 years.

Astrologically, that day, energizer Mars Rx, in Leo, was applying to an exact square to volatile, disruptive Uranus in the rebirthing sign of Scorpio. (Scorpio rules volcanoes; Uranus often prominently figures in with earthquakes. Mars-Uranus is often linked with raw, explosive energy.)

On March 27, 1980, a series of volcanic explosions and pyroclastic flows began at Mount St. Helens in Skamania County, Washington. It initiated as a series of phreatic blasts from the summit then escalated on May 18, 1980, as a major explosive eruption. The eruption, which had a Volcanic Explosivity Index of 5, was the most significant to occur in the contiguous 48 U.S. states since the much smaller 1915 eruption of Lassen Peak in California. It has often been declared the most disastrous volcanic eruption in U.S. history.

The eruption was preceded by a two-month series of earthquakes and steam-venting episodes, caused by an injection of magma at shallow depth below the volcano that created a large bulge and a fracture system on the mountain’s north slope. An earthquake at 8:32:11 a.m. PDT (UTC-7) on Sunday, May 18, 1980, caused the entire weakened north face to slide away, creating the largest landslide in recorded history. (Wikipedia)

Hope it’s a good one. Please be safe and well!

daily astrology, daily numerology, John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Moon in Leo, Moon opposite Jupiter, On This Day in History, peace

Cosmic Weather:

“Too much of a good thing can be wonderful!” Mae West

With Waxing Luna still in playful Leo, this morning, and forming an opposition to expansive Jupiter, in eccentric Aquarius (9:27 am), it may be more challenging to dial things back. Also, easier to overpromise.

Mars in Gemini also sextiles Ceres in Aries (11:32 am), motivating us to take action to safeguard or protect what’s most important. (Home and family interests could be key here.)

The Moon will also enter fastidious Virgo, late tonight (11:25 pm). An excellent period for organizing our affairs, detoxing and refining our routines.

Numerologically, March 25, 2021, is a “6” and “7” day. Caretaking or nurturing is supported and highlighted. Intuition is also facilitated as we seek to ponder the deeper meaning of things.

*All times EDT

On This Day in History: On March 25, 1969, newlyweds John Lennon and Yoko Ono stage their first “bed-in” for peace in Amsterdam, as the Vietnam War raged on that year.

Astrologically, that day, philosophical Jupiter and unconventional Uranus were conjunct in peace-loving Libra. Libra’s ruler, relationship Venus, was also exactly conjunct dutiful Saturn in war-ruling Aries.

As Yoko Ono later said to a reporter (in March of 2016), “We thought that Amsterdam was a very important place to do it because it has a very fresh and alive interest. And we’re thinking that, instead of going out and fight and make war or something like that, we should just stay in bed: Everybody should just stay in bed and enjoy the spring.”

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Cosmic Weather:

“Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit.” E.E. Cummings

With the Waxing Moon ensconced in commanding Leo, the sign of the lion, this is a natural time of the month for us to go about expressing our courage, creativity, and self-confidence.

An early morning lunar trine to the pioneering Aries Sun (12:54 am) also primes us for adventure or risk-taking. This is also excellent for any cooperative venture.

Luna’s square to erratic Uranus in Taurus (9:45 am) may find us temporarily more concerned with self-preservation, money, and or security matters. While we may want to embrace our personal freedom and self-expression, we are also possibly concerned about upending some of our stability, in the process. Incorporating a bit of flexibility into our outlook, however, can be the key to our getting ahead now and also a positive way for us to enjoy even more personal growth and well-being in the future as we are able to discover that there are often more choices available to us then we are sometimes able to grasp or perceive in any given moment. All we have to do is be willing to ferret them out.

The Leo Moon’s opposition to cautious Saturn in collective-ruling Aquarius (1:38 pm) could find us wanting to pull back a bit from relationships/social interactions. It can also sensitize us more to other people’s remarks, particularly to criticism. Revisiting the past may also be tempting now and constructive, especially if we are able to find a way to capitalize on lessons learned.

Luna will also sextile Mars in versatile Gemini today (4:08 pm). This is excellent emotional energy for connecting us with our passions and talents. A wider array of opportunities may also suddenly appear on the horizon as we open ourselves to new ideas or ways of thinking.

*All times EDT

On This Day in History: On March 24, 1853, the anti-slavery newspaper “The Provincial Freeman” was first published in Windsor, Ontario, edited by Samuel Ringgold Ward and Mary Ann Shadd, the first Black woman newspaper publisher in North America and Canada’s first female publisher. It was the second newspaper in Canada to present the views and concerns of the Black community. The paper’s final issue was published on September 20, 1857.

Astrologically, on March 24, 1853, compassionate Neptune in unifying Pisces was exactly sextile to wounded healer Chiron in more traditionally-minded Capricorn. Transforming Pluto was also at 0 degrees of values-minded Taurus (a critical degree). Writer Mercury was also in trailblazing Aries and applying to an exact trine to philosophical Jupiter, the planet which governs publishing. This trine aspect is great for disseminating our ideas and teachings, or for shaping/influencing narratives. Jupiter was also strengthened by being in its home sign of scholarly Sagittarius.

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

can-do spirit, daily astrology, enthusiasm, Mars square Jupiter, On This Day in History

Cosmic Weather:

“Enthusiasm is a supernatural serenity.” Henry David Thoreau

There may be more of a tendency to assume “bigger is better” in all sorts of ways today, as well as perhaps a burning desire to want to “test our limits” (to get ahead) as energizing Mars, in self-willed Aries, forms an exact square with oversizing and expansive Jupiter Rx, in methodical Capricorn, a galvanizing aspect that can greatly fire up our levels of enthusiasm, motivation, and courage. Too, while we certainly can meet up with a notable amount of success today, due partly to our irrepressible “can-do” spirit, we may also want to make sure that we remember to temper our actions with at least some measure of good old-fashioned “Capricornian” common-sense so that we don’t get too carried away, or act too impulsively – typical shadow side manifestations of this particular planetary configuration. (We will also have this aspect a second time on October 19th, when Mars is retrograde.)

Orator Mercury will also be shifting into ostentatious Leo the Lion, late tonight (11:32 pm) for a two-week run.

*All times EDT

This Day in History: On August 4, 1862, the U.S. government collects its first income tax.

Astrologically, on that day, the authoritative Leo Sun was exactly square to transformational Pluto in “revenue conscious” Taurus. Often, Sun-Pluto aspects mark major turning points in life. (Pluto also rules taxes!) It should also be noted that Mars was in pioneering Aries then and separating from a trine to the Leo Sun, another indication of bold “new beginnings” in the works.

Hope you have a good one! Please be safe and well.

Astrology June 3, 2020: Sun Conjunct Venus Retrograde

daily astrology, love, Moon in Scorpio, On This Day in History, Sun conjunct Venus, transformation

Cosmic Weather:

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” Martin Luther King, Jr.

Retrograde Venus (the goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, and money) is in inferior conjunction with the Sun in Gemini today (at 1:44 pm), denoting the midpoint cycle of Venus’s current retrograde cycle as well as a symbolizing a new beginning in the Sun and Venus relationship. This conjunction also marks the transition from Venus as an evening star to a morning star.

Archetypally, sweet Venus tends to work as a harmonizer or balancer and retrograde in the communication sign of Gemini, there is potentially more promise now for soothing words or gestures to be able to work their special healing magic to fill what was perhaps an earlier void or lack of connection. This Sun-Venus alignment generally rallies us to put more energy into such things as being friendly or outgoing as the relationship realm is something that becomes much more vital or important now to who we are and how we see ourselves.

Too, with Venus retrograde, it could be that we have important new insights about the overall nature of our relationship or social or material needs as well as maybe glean a better understanding or perspective of what it is that we genuinely value or require in our lives order for us to feel truly happy or at least more emotionally content.

On another level, Sun-Venus aspects often help to generate more ease or flow in financial matters and may coincide with an increased desire to be surrounded by things of beauty, luxury, or objects of art.

The Waxing Moon is also in probing Scorpio, all day, suggesting our emotions are more intense at this time and our perceptions are potentially sharper. Often when Luna is here we are looking to become more fully engaged with or impassioned by our experiences. There can also be more ability or readiness for transformation. On a higher level, Scorpio represents a phoenix rising from the ashes.

“Scared and sacred are spelled with the same letters. Awful proceeds from the same root word as awesome. Terrify and terrific. Every negative experience holds the seed of transformation.” Alan Cohen

*All times EDT.

On This Day in History: On June 3, 1965, astronaut Edward H. White became the first American to “walk” in space during the flight of Gemini 4. White floated free outside the spacecraft, tethered to it, for approximately 20 minutes. Gemini 4 would also be the first multi-day (four-day) space flight by the United States, designed to show that it was possible for humans to remain in Outer space for extended lengths of time.  (Wikipedia)

Astrologically, that day, expansive Jupiter, the empowering Sun, and the future-oriented North Node were conjunct in mobile, environmentally-curious Gemini and all were square to breakthrough Uranus, the planetary ruler of space travel and technology. Revolutionizing Uranus was also conjunct transformational Pluto in perfecting Virgo, the zodiacal sign which is associated with tangibly improving our skill set or expertise.

Hope it’s a good one! Be safe and well.

Cosmic Weather:

“Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.” John Adams

The North Node (symbolizing the future) moves into Gemini today and the South Node (representing the past) moves into opposing Sagittarius, signs they will occupy for the next 18 months. (The last time we had this same setup was from October of 2001 to April of 2003.)

In general, during this ingress, we are learning to be more curious, to do more questioning to learn how others think, and to examine facts more closely before rendering our decisions. Simultaneously, we are seeking to move away from wholesale rejection of others’ ideas or belief systems simply because they are in conflict with our own. We are also wanting to back up or reinforce our faith now with facts.

*All times EDT.

On This Day in History: John Scopes was arrested by Tennesse authorities on May 5, 1925, for teaching evolution in his high school science class. They charged him with having violated a newly enacted law (The Butler Act) that criminalized the teaching of human evolution in the state’s public schools. The famous “Scopes Trial” (also known as the “Scopes Monkey Trial”) pitted advocates of creationism against those who believed in evolution.

(Astrologically, when Scopes was arrested on May 5, information-minded Mercury, in trail-blazing Aries, was exactly square to philosophical Jupiter in traditionally-minded Capricorn. With Mercury-Jupiter aspects we generally aim to broaden our understanding or widen our perspectives and there is also often marked enthusiasm for sharing what it is that we have learned or studied. Jupiter, the planet which symbolizes the search for higher meaning, also formally governs both teaching and religion. On the shadow side, especially with the square, there can be arrogance, narrow-mindedness, self-righteousness, as well as a tendency towards proselytizing others towards our own point of view.)

“If today you can take a thing like evolution and make it a crime to teach it in the public school, tomorrow you can make it a crime to teach it in the private schools, and the next year you can make it a crime to teach it to the hustings or in the church. At the next session, you may ban books and the newspapers.”  – Clarence Darrow (the famed trial lawyer who represented John Scopes at his trial.)

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Hope it’s a good one! Be safe and well.

The pace quickens as the Moon leaves laid back Taurus for “Can we talk?” Gemini (at 2:08 am). Mercury also turns retrograde in Taurus (at 12:06 am). Perhaps best to defer signing important contracts until May 11th when Mercury resumes direct motion again.

Meanwhile, a sextile aspect from relationship Venus to abundant Jupiter bodes ideally well for romance and our power of attraction.

*All times EDT

On This Day in History:

The “Ford Mustang” is formally introduced on April 17, 1964, with a base price of $2368.  Fortuitous Jupiter had just entered possession-sign Taurus and was exactly sextile to structuring Saturn in Pisces – seemingly a perfect time to debut a product for long-term success.  Also, Mars was strong at home in speed demon Aries, potentially giving us a passion for ports cars!
