“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart” – Helen Keller.

While “living in our head,” or relying mainly on logic and reasoning, often seems to be an easier and safer strategy to employ as we go about the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives, in the end, it can also leave us feeling cut off or alienated, not only from ourselves, but also from others and the world at large. This more cerebral mode of living also does not really provide us with the deeper kind of guidance and connection that our inner spirit is longing for. However, when we decide to turn a serious ear to the music that is always gently emanating or pulsating from our own heartstrings, not only do we always get the true answers that we are seeking, we are also filled with a rich sense of our own oneness and purpose, as the disquieting fragmentation begins to pass away. “Follow your heart. It will always lead you home” Melody Beattie.

(The Moon is in caring Cancer today connecting us with our roots.)

“When you assess your own life, consider it with the eye of a gardener. Underneath the surface lies rich, fertile soil waiting to nurture the seeds you sow. Even more than you can imagine will grow there if given a chance.” Steve Goodier

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon’s placement in “maternal” Cancer graciously supports self-care efforts and also poises us to be more protective and nurturing with those around us. Too, on the topic of self-care, Life Coach Cheryl Richardson (author of “The Art of Extreme Self Care“) wisely recommends that, “We need to put the idea of ‘self-care as selfish’ behind us for good.”

Additionally today, we have the Moon sextiling “energizing” Mars (10:30 am EDT), in the “diligent” sign of Virgo, enabling us to deftly tap into our own resourcefulness, while also serving to align us with our heart’s passions and desires. This potent aspect is also very positive for any systemic cleansing or detoxification measures, with “perfecting” Virgo governing health matters. “A healthy body is a guest-chamber for the soul; a sick body is a prison.” Francis Bacon

COSMIC WATCH:

“You can have brilliant ideas, but if you can’t get them across, your ideas won’t get you anywhere.” Lee Iacocca

The possibility of our being able to convey our brilliant, dazzling ideas in an energetic, clever fashion may be elevated today as thinker Mercury, the Winged Messenger of communication, exits slow, deliberate Taurus and flits into breezy Gemini (7:12 am EDT), one of two signs that it rules. Mercury will be in fast-talking, witty Gemini until July 7th and joins Venus and the Sun there.

Since Gemini energy is more nervous and restless, on the shadow side there can be more of tendency for us to become mentally scattered with Mercury here, especially if we go overboard on the multi-tasking and do not get enough rest. Mercury in Gemini is also insatiably curious and loves gathering and disseminating information.  This quality of mind can serve us particularly well now if we have any research or writing projects to do. It can also help us in any sales, cold-calling or promotional type work.

The Moon also continues a second day in sensitive, nesting Cancer making an early morning sextile to motivator Mars in productive Virgo (6:59 am EDT). This suggests that we can make excellent progress on the home front now, especially if we need to do some tidying or straightening up. Cleaning out the refrigerator especially comes to mind with the Moon in food-related Cancer. This Moon-Mars aspect is also conducive to telecommuting or working from home. “All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.” Martin Luther King Jr.

Who do you look up to as a communicator? What are some of your pet peeves when it comes to communication?

astrology for may 23 2012, hard to see clearly, home, horoscope may 23 2012, Moon in Cancer, Sun square Neptune

COSMIC WATCH:

“The man who voyages strange seas must of necessity be a little unsure of himself. It is the man with the flashy air of knowing everything, who is always with it, that we should beware of.” Fred Hoyle

With the illuminating Sun square foggy Neptune, we may be a bit unsure about how to navigate the day, as this aspect can sometimes cloud our normal judgment or perspective. If this is the case, we may just want to do a little coasting now. Take our foot off of the accelerator. Rely on our faith to carry us through to our destination and trust that it will take us to the place where are suppose to be.

The Sun Neptune influence naturally yields itself to the pursuit of more creative or spiritual outlets. Film-making, photography, painting, songwriting, meditation and prayer are all favored. This energy may also sharpen our psychic sensitivities. We may especially want to pay closer attention to our dreams now for they could be very revealing for us. “The dream is a little hidden door in the innermost and secret recesses of the soul.” Carl Jung

The Moon’s shift into nurturing, supportive Cancer (7:31 am EDT) also reminds us there’s no place like home for soothing our world-weary souls. “I would rather be on my farm than be emperor of the world.”  George Washington

What do you enjoy most about your home? When you walk in your front door, what kind of feelings do you get? How does your home reflect who you are as a person?

Famous Birthdays May 23: Drew Carey, Rosemary Clooney

News Update: Crude oil reached new lows for the year today. This is interesting when we take into consideration that the Sun is forming a challenging square to Neptune which rules oil.

Enjoy your Wednesday!

astrology for march 4 2012, feeling alone, love, Moon in Cancer, Moon in Leo, romance, venus opposite saturn

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon in “self-protective” Cancer the Crab may tempt us to retreat back inside our cozy little shells, if we sense that the vibes around us are not supportive. Cancer is a very intuitive sign. Lovable Venus also opposes chilly Saturn, so it may be that some of us may be feeling a bit more cut off from others today, especially if we choose to focus on what’s not working in our relationships instead of concentrating on what’s going right.

Sometimes, too, with Venus-Saturn, we have more of a need for security or stability in the romantic arena, reflective of the more cautious and practical nature of Saturn. Venus-Saturn is also interestingly linked with “May-December” romances. “True love begins when nothing is looked for in return.” Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Once the Moon enters “playful” Leo the Lion (6:17 pm EST), our mood lightens, and we are less likely to take ourselves so seriously, which can help to get us back into the positive flow of the day, especially if we had earlier been led by our vulnerabilities. “We’re all golden sunflowers inside.” Allen Ginsberg

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon’s passage through “sentimental” Cancer poises us to want to revisit our nostalgic roots. Optimally, to peruse the preceding pages of our biography with the soulful intent of extracting a few takeaway jewels that can add golden wisdom and meaning for where we are now along our current path.

Perhaps we can recall a time period, for instance, in which we were able to rise above a host of obstacles by applying determination and persistence.

Or maybe we can remember when we quit a self-sabotaging habit.

Writer Robert Brault offers this terrific insight about the past: “Looking back you realize that a very special person passed briefly through your life – and it was you. It is not too late to find that person again.”

The “reflective” Cancer Moon also sextiles “initiator” Mars in disciplined Virgo (6:02 pm) suggesting that we are fully capable of taking actions now that build upon and support our earlier successes.

“The world is more malleable than you think and it’s waiting for you to hammer it into shape.” – Bono

What would you like to “hammer away at” today?

Today’s Affirmation: I choose to flow contently with the river of life, knowing that wherever it takes me is where I’m supposed to be. I also lovingly honor my past, as it has helped to artfully shape me into the person that I am proud to be today.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Astrology December 13 2011: Mercury Stations Direct

accountability, creativity, mercury goes direct in sagittarius december 13 2011, mercury stations direct in sagittarius december 2011, Moon in Cancer, Moon in Leo, Moon square Saturn, originality

COSMIC WATCH:

Our emotional outlook may be more serious, the first half of the day, with the sensitive Cancer Moon’s square to authoritative Saturn, in balancing Libra (11:06 am EST), an aspect in which we often face accountability for our actions. Since Moon-Saturn sometimes has a more limiting or inhibiting affect upon us, due to the narrowing vibration of Saturn, we may want to perhaps work on our breathing techniques with this influence. Or, use positive visualization as a way of helping us to stay fully centered and relaxed in the moment.

Later, the Moon’s entrance into proud, bold Leo the Lion (4:49 pm EST) sets the stage for us to really come alive and roar with creativity. Included here may be a tendency for some “over the top” behavior, as the Moon squares boastful Jupiter (5:57 pm EST) and also trines spontaneous, original Uranus (6:00 pm EST). Too, lovable Venus is making a favorable semi-sextile to the warming, life-giving Sun this afternoon (4:56 pm EST) encouraging us to make some heart-felt connections.

Finally, Mercury, the planet of communication and travel, is stationing direct at three degrees of inspired Sagittarius (8:43 pm EST) after a three-week retrograde period. This gives us the green light to start proceeding with our plans and ideas again after we have, hopefully, used the last twenty-one days for some pause and reflection. However, we will want to wait a couple days to allow Mercury to pick up some speed. (Mercury will be out of its shadow period on January 1, the degree that it originally assumed retrograde motion.) Too, we will want to pay attention to the house in our charts that Mercury is stationing direct in as that is the specific area of life in which we may see some forward momentum now.

“We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” Walt Disney

Today’s Affirmation:  I am at peace with my past and eager to journey onward.

What are you excited about today?

astrology for december 12 2011, caring, feelings, immigration, Moon in Cancer, Moon sextile Mars, protective

COSMIC WATCH:

With the Moon in feminine, protective Cancer all day, the sign that it rules, we have a perfect opportunity to affirm and embrace our sensitive emotional nature. Resolving to express our emotions as we feel them also allows our feelings to naturally flow through us in a very positive and healing manner. Our emotions can be telltale messengers for us, so it is always very important to pay attention to them. Paying attention to our feelings can also help to firmly ground us in the power and potential of the present moment.

Additionally, the Cancer Moon’s harmonious sextile to energetic Mars in accomodating Virgo (11:09 am EST) not only helps us in successfully getting our needs met, it also creates an effective, supportive backdrop whereby we can lovingly reach out and extend our tender caring to others. Letting them know that they are not alone.

“A smile is the light in your window that tells others that there is a caring, sharing person inside.” Denis Waitley

Famous People with Moon in Cancer: Clint Eastwood, Mary J. Blige, Farrah Fawcett

Today’s Affirmation: My feelings shelter me and protect me like a warm blanket.

How are you feeling today? What do you think your feelings are trying to tell you now about yourself or maybe your life situation?

Mid-morning News Update: WSJ.com is reporting that the U.S. Supreme Court today has decided to rule on a controversial Arizona statute that targets illegal immigrants and whether that statute is a violation of federal law. I thought this development was very interesting, as the Moon is in Cancer today, the sign of the home and family. Cancer also governs such things as nationalism and protectionism. The Sun and Mercury are also in Sagittarius, which rules the law and also specifically deals with immigration matters and foreign cultures. Mercury, too, is getting ready to station direct in Sagittarius tomorrow, calling more attention to Sagittarius-ruled matters. Also, this decision was rendered with the Cancer Moon applying to a sextile to Mars in analytical, evaluating Virgo, with Moon-Mars perhaps helping the matter take shape. Mars, the energy planet, supplies momentum for our affairs.

Enjoy your Monday!

Astrology September 22, 2011: Mercury, Venus and Jupiter Align

astrology for september 22 2011, Debut of the X-Factor in the US September 21 2011, going overboard, horoscope for september 22 2011, horoscope september 22 2011, Mercury sesquiquadrate Jupiter, Moon in Cancer, pluto trine pluto, Simon Cowell horoscope, venus quinqunx jupiter

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon remains in nurturing, receptive Cancer, for most of the day, affording us a perfect venue to display more caring and feeling. This is a very healing placement for the Moon. One thing that we may need to cultivate today, however, is practicing some moderation or temperance. This is because both thinker Mercury, and pleasure-seeking Venus, are forming more challenging aspects to excessive, boastful Jupiter, in financial Taurus, which can incline us to go overboard, especially in our spending, or to overreach in general. We are probably wise not to overpromise or overcommit ourselves today, as we could be getting in over our head. Accordingly, we will want to eye details and fine print very carefully now and not take anything for granted that is not explicitly spelled out.

Later, the Moon’s ingress into kingly Leo (9:56 pm EDT) is our cue to assume our rightful, respectable seat on the throne and exert our personal power and influence over the next couple of days. 🙂

“Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown.” William Shakespeare

People in the News: Speaking of royalty, highly influential, Simon Cowell, is back on TV in the U.S. with the new X-Factor, which debuted last night. Simon, a Libra Sun with a Sagittarius Moon, presently has regenerating Pluto, in ambitious Capricorn, exactly trine to his natal Pluto in work-related Virgo now. This is actually a long-term influence that he has had, off and on, for more than a year and a half, although now with Pluto stationing direct, last week, he is having it for a third and final time in his horoscope. Fascinatingly, at the inception of this influence is when Cowell first announced that he was leaving American Idol to bring the X-Factor to the U.S.

Pluto trine Pluto, an aspect we have only once in our lives, depending on how long we live, is always potentially a time when we can institute some major, transforming circumstances for ourselves. Pluto’s ray can also help to put into place, situations and or persons in our lives, that may allow us to wield more influence in the world. It is also the planet that rules the masses and governs mass appeal.  Some astrologers regard it as the planet of destiny that acquaints us with our “true mission” or “ higher purpose” in life. Or, at the very least, helps to get us involved with some activity or venture that we are very impassioned about.

Too, at the time of the show’s debut last night for 8 pm EDT, in the X-Factor’s horoscope, assertive Mars in entertainment Leo was forming a quinqunx aspect to “wounded healer” Chiron in Pisces, which was actually exact to the minute at the show’s start, with Mars at 1 degree 47 minutes of Leo and Chiron at 1 degree 47 minutes Pisces, respectively. It seemed that many of the show’s most talented contestants last night, which would be symbolized by competitive Mars in performing Leo, came from more difficult or troubled pasts (denoted by Chiron in suffering Pisces), circumstances that they were ambitiously attempting to rise above, including the last contestant, who had stated that he had just gotten out of rehab a couple months earlier for substance abuse (Pisces rules addiction). He went on to give a mesmerizing, gripping performance singing a wrap song that he had written. At the conclusion of his performance, Simon said something, to the affect, that a “star had been born.” I agreed.

Also in the X-Factor horoscope, Mars in creative Leo is applying to a trine to innovative, electrifying Uranus in spontaneous, pioneering Aries, a very good portender for unveiling performers on the show who are brilliant and very original in many regards (Uranus governs genius). This also would seem to bode well for viewership to the show. Interestingly, in Simon’s own horoscope, he has a version of this same aspect with his Libra Mars exactly sextile to Uranus in Leo, which may be one reason why he is so astute at scoping out potentially, towering talent in the entertainment arena. It’s a very futuristic, trend-setting, intuitive influence.

Did you see the X-Factor last night? If so, what did you think? Glad to see Simon and Paula back together?

Enjoy your Thursday!

COSMIC WATCH:

“That rolls to its appointed end.” William Cullen Bryant

A perfect day for winding down our affairs as we have a void-of-course Moon in sentimental Cancer and a New Moon in sunny Leo tomorrow. Mental Mercury in analytical Virgo also opposes fuzzy Neptune in fishy Pisces making decision-making possibly more convoluted today. When Neptune’s ray is activated matters tend to get obscured and we may be missing key facts. However, this same aspect could be a boon for creative types as Neptune governs our imagination. Neptune also presides over film, photography, dancing and aquatic activities.

A note of caution: Mercury goes retrograde August 2nd! A period when we often revisit and or reverse our previous decisions or plans. Something to keep in mind now.

Enjoy your Friday!
