Astrology September 6, 2011: Capricorn Moon Trines Jupiter

COSMIC WATCH:

The “ambitious” Capricorn Moon suggests that we put our attention on career or business concerns today. The placement of the Moon in this Saturn-ruled sign tends to make us more practical or utilitarian in our daily approach.

Also, a fortuitous trine aspect from the Moon to optimistic Jupiter (4:50pm EDT) in financial Taurus may bring along with it some tangible rewards our way or fab opportunities for us to shine. Assertive Mars in self-protective Cancer is also making a creative quintile aspect to Jupiter, upping the ante on our enthusiasm and courage.

“Each of us seems to have a main focus, a particular idea of practicality – a concept of ‘what we want out of life’ against which we judge our experiences.” Jane Roberts

Famous People with Moon in Capricorn: Brad Pitt, Cher, Johnny Depp, David Letterman.

Intention for today: “I am making steady progress in my journey to get ahead.”

Enjoy your Tuesday!

Astrology September 4, 2011: Virgo Sun, Sagittarius Moon

Tags

COSMIC WATCH:

The “fussy” Virgo Sun encourages us to have “all our ducks in a row,” but the adventurous Sagittarius Moon makes a case for more spontaneous behavior. Our challenge today may be to figure out how to manage these two conflicting desires.

Too, we may have a fervent need to convert others to our enlightened way of thinking now, as the Sadge Moon is known to be more than a little preachy. With that said, if we dare to bring up religion or politics today, or other hotbed issues, we also need to be aware that we could be unleashing a floodgate of opinion. 🙂

“I believe people who practice their beliefs in daily life are
activists.” Jasmine Guy

People in the News: Rolling Stone, Keith Richards, was interviewed on “CBS Sunday Morning” today. It was a great interview, really quite revealing. In his horoscope, Keith has a “freedom-loving” Sagittarius Sun with a “perfectionist” Virgo Moon, kind of an inverse of the very energies that we have today with the Virgo Sun and Sadge Moon. Of course, most of us know about Keith’s “wild past,” but today in the interview he said that he is really “just like everybody else.”

He also apparently has a green thumb and loves to garden at his posh Connecticut estate which was showcased a little on the program. Perhaps it is the organized and methodical Virgo side of his nature that has helped him to patiently sow so many successful seeds, be it in his garden or via his legendary musical compositions. Virgo Moon individuals can be very self-directed and hard-working. Keith’s Moon in Virgo is also exactly conjunct his 10th house of career, suggestive of someone who is a master craftsman. His assertive Mars in intellectual Gemini is also conjunct non-conforming Uranus, an aspect of brilliance and originality, but also indicative of great restlessness and or rebelliousness. Of course, many of his musical creations also seem to mirror that inner discord.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Astrology September 2, 2011: Scorpio Moon, Sun Trines Jupiter

Tags

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon remains in perceptive Scorpio helping us maneuver the day with more depth and clarity. Also, the Moon’s agreeable 60-degree hookup with loving Venus in discreet Virgo (3:09 pm EDT) helps to boost our personal power of attraction, while providing us with a delicate gateway to reveal our deeper emotions and feelings. A good time to breathe new life into old relationships. Or, for trying out new approaches or strategies with others.

Too, the hard-working Virgo Sun’s fortuitous trine with propitious Jupiter in stabilizing Taurus (12:00 am EDT Saturday) stands ready to reward us with a generous harvest now. This is traditionally considered one of the “luckier” aspects in astrology. This enthusiastic influence also helps to brighten our perspectives and endows us with big ideas that can lead to exciting possibilities down the road.

“There is no upper limit to what individuals are capable of doing with their minds. There is no age limit that bars them from beginning. There is no obstacle that cannot be overcome if they persist and believe.” H.G. Wells

In the News: It is being reported today that the U.S. is poised to file lawsuits against more than a dozen big banks accusing them of misrepresenting the calibur of mortgages they packaged and sold during the housing crisis (HuffPost Business). Fascinating headline from an astrological perspective since today’s Moon in Scorpio presides over credit, debt-collection and mortgages. Also, we have, of course, Uranus still square to Pluto, Scorpio’s ruler, as a background influence, which can incite bold or daring moves to get what is “owed to us.”

Too, Jupiter rules both legal action and the banking industry and we have the exacting and correcting Virgo Sun forming that trine aspect to Jupiter in money-ruling Taurus today. Reportedly the U.S. government is trying to lasso in billions of dollars from the lawsuits. Jupiter has a legacy for being linked with “big bucks” dealings.

Enjoy your Friday!

Astrology September 1, 2011: Moon Trines Neptune, Sextiles Pluto

COSMIC WATCH:

“We can do no great things, only small things with great love.” Mother Teresa

The Moon wraps up her stay in gracious Libra with a trine to idealistic Neptune (12:35 pm EDT) inspiring us to pursue our noblest dreams and also heightening our psychic sensitivity.   This is also a very good time to make compassionate or charitable gestures to those who may need a helping hand.  As the ruler of
caring Pisces and the higher octave of loving Venus, Neptune helps to foster
more of a selfless quality in us.

Mid-afternoon, the Moon’s shift into intense Scorpio (2:48 pm EDT) ignites our passions and tenders deeper emotional responses to our environment. Scorpio also helps us to go in depth with matters and is excellent energy for any research or investigative work. Also for healing and transformation. We are actually treated to a double-dose of Scorpio energy tonight as the Scorpio Moon harmoniously sextiles Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio (10:55 pm EDT).   I remember a few months ago when there was a snake on the loose for a few days from some zoo in New York city, it was finally located when the Moon was exactly sextile Pluto, which can often reveal to us hidden information.

Enjoy your day! Hope you are able to make some crackerjack discoveries!

Astrology August 31, 2011: Moon in Libra Conjunct Saturn

COSMIC WATCH:

“Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

Extra Brownie points are earned today for being patient and poised in the face of possible delays or restrictions suggested by the Moon’s monthly conjunction with tester Saturn in relationship Libra (2:44 pm EDT) which also tends to put us in a more serious mode. This is very good energy for probing more deeply into matters and having pivotal discussions, especially about security-related or legal issues, but we will want to remain flexible and cooperative. We may also need to remember, however, that it is not always possible to please everyone and that we need to be okay with that.

Too, we have intellectual Mercury forming a 135-degree link to incisive, investigative Pluto which can heighten our perceptions, although we are challenged to guard against being overly suspicious or brooding, part of Pluto’s shadow side. With Pluto’s activated ray we tend to experience submerged contents from our mysterious subconscious floating to the surface of our conscious awareness. Also, we may want to refrain from showing our cards until we have had time to sort through all the subterranean matter.

Later, practicing anger-management is the recommended antidote for a feisty Moon square Mars aspect (8:28 pm EDT). The Moon’s harmonious sextile to mental Mercury at the close of the day (11:25 pm EDT) also helps to set the stage for some cool “aha moments” while simultaneously fostering a more peaceful vibe on the home front. A perfect time to make some entries into our personal journals or for unwinding with a book by a favorite author.

News Update: WSJ.com reported this morning that the U.S. Justice Dept. has filed a lawsuit to block  AT&T’s proposed $39 billion proposed takeover of T-Mobile USA. Perhaps evidence of the Libra Moon’s applying conjunction with “denying” Saturn today? Libra does rule the court system. Too, Mercury also governs the communications industry and we have that 135-linkup with “suspicious-minded” Pluto.

Also, with the more serious Moon-Saturn influence exact, early this afternoon, President Obama (a Saturnian authority figure) reportedly requested a joint session of Congress for next Wednesday night to roll out his proposals to jumpstart employment and the economy. Although, there also appears to be some conflict with having the joint session on that particular date as the Republican presidential hopefuls also have a televised debate already scheduled for the same time period. Sounds like President Obama and his staff may have hit upon a “Moon-Saturn snag” in scheduling the matter and that a “cooperative spirit” may be needed to iron things out to everyone’s satisfaction. 🙂 (story from NYT.com)

Enjoy your Wednesday!

Astrology August 30, 2011: Libra Moon, Jupiter Goes Retrograde!

Tags

, , , , , , , ,

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon’s entry into fair-minded Libra (2:26 pm EDT) has us seeking a more balanced approach as we go about our day. Sweet Venus’s trine to opulent Jupiter also endows us with a fond appetite for the finer things of life.  This harmonious aspect also carries with it a more fortuitous vibration as both of these planets are considered to be more benefic in nature.

Too, Jupiter, the planet of abundance and expansion, is stationing retrograde today until Christmas Day, suggesting that Santa’s bag of goodies can best be sampled by going within in the coming months. Jupiter often acts as a cosmic Santa Claus, descending down our humble chimneys with big ideas on how to grow and prosper. Now with Jupiter turning retrograde, we may need to do some fine-tuning on exactly how to penetrate that glass ceiling so that we can eventually take our rightful seat on the throne. 🙂

“Any person who contributes to prosperity must prosper in turn.” Earl
Nightingale

Astrology August 28, 2011: Moon Opposite Neptune, New Moon in Virgo

Tags

COSMIC WATCH:

“Growth demands a temporary surrender of security.” Gail Sheehy

The first half of the day, the waning Moon wraps up her stay in dramatic Leo forming her monthly opposition to fantasy Neptune (1:11 pm EDT), which potentially casts a more surreal tone to matters. With Moon-Neptune the challenge is always to stay grounded or anchored and avoid being swept away by undercurrents of worry or fear.

Of course, as many of us are waking up this morning, Hurricane Irene is still front and center in the news, as she hammers away at the northeastern seaboard of the U.S. Too, Neptune governs the sea and hurricanes. On the shadow side, Neptune’s ray can be very undermining and eroding, as we see this playing out now with Irene. Neptune symbolizes our link with the Divine and part of its mission seems to be to remind us of the shifting, temporal nature of things. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those persons being impacted by this storm. I live in central North Carolina and felt Irene’s winds all day yesterday and they were pretty scary and intimidating, even on the periphery.

We do have the Moon shifting into efficient Virgo this afternoon (2:13 pm EDT) and also a New Moon tonight at 5 degrees of the sign (11:04 pm EDT). New Moons signify new beginnings and this New Moon brings with it a magical Grand Earth Trine involving propitious Jupiter in Taurus and regenerating Pluto in Capricorn. This Grand Trine will hopefully be very empowering for us, if we can tap into its energy. Sweet Venus is also conjunct this lunation adding a social dimension to it.

Virgo presides over the areas of health and diet, and also work and service to others. It also governs the more routine aspects of daily living such as cleaning, organizing, etc. Today’s New Moon in Virgo suggests that we have a wonderful chance to get our personal affairs in order over the course of the next month. It’s a great time, for instance, to tidy up or de-clutter the home front, get our checking account balanced, tackle that mountain of paper on the desk. Or to maybe focus on self-care matters, such as revamping our diet and or recommitting to a health and exercise program. Also, it’s an excellent time to apply for a new job, perfect our skills or hone a craft. With transforming Pluto at play, we may also find it a favorable period to revive old projects.

Happy New Moon Blessings! Enjoy your Sunday!

Astrology August 27, 2011: Sun and Mercury Court Uranus

Tags

, , , , , , , , ,

COSMIC WATCH:

Mercury and the Sun form uneasy aspects to unpredictable Uranus, suggesting disruptive forces are on the prowl. Cultivating inner calmness and tapping into our own ingenuity, however, can help us to prevail. We are also wise to minimize our exposure to risk and take precautions that take us out of the path of harm’s way.  With Mercury ruling travel and communication, too, we may need to be ready for some glitches in those areas.

On a lighter note, the theatrical Leo Moon stands ready to furnish us with healthy doses of drama and creativity for our earthly performances today, upping the ante that we will be able to evoke a warm standing ovation from our legions of fans. Accordingly, a positive day for any endeavors that put us in the spotlight. This is especially the case when the Moon conjuncts orator Mercury (7:49 pm EDT) which helps us to speak compellingly from the heart.

Astrology August 26, 2011: Mercury Stations Direct in Leo!

Tags

, , , , , , , , ,

COSMIC WATCH:

Mercury, ruler of thought, communication,  and travel, stations direct at 18 degrees of authoritative Leo today (6:05 pm EDT) giving us the cosmic go ahead to gradually resume forward motion with our bright ideas. Especially those ideas related to the sector of our personal horoscope that houses the sign of Leo.

Mercury is also getting ready to make an off-kilter, 135-degree hookup with maverick Uranus (1:24 am EDT Saturday), so our mental plates are still a little full now, even with the direct motion.  Uranus delights in throwing us curve balls that often demand rapid, clever responses on our part. Uranus helps to foster our originality and brilliance, although it can also make us a little cranky or rebellious in the process.

We are actually privy to a double-dose of unsettled Uranian energy today as the Sun in methodical Virgo is applying to an awkward quinqunx to that planet (3:25 am EDT Saturday). Too, we still have the weird Saturn-Neptune sesquiquadrate aspect which encourages us to develop our levitation skills while it temporarily pulls the rug out from under us. 🙂 At least it can sometimes feel that way with this disintegrating configuration, that we are in a more precarious or uncertain position with fewer safeguards at our disposal. Of course, if we keep our eyes steadfast on our long-term goals, that strategy can help to sustain us through any rough patches now. We may also want to try to aim for more mental detachment, if we are feeling overwhelmed.

The waning Moon also enters self-expressive Leo today (12:09 pm EDT) helping us to personally shine. With the Moon in a fire sign, it is an excellent time for doing weeding. Also for getting our hair cut. Too, the waning Moon is perfect for any purging or recycling projects.

Enjoy your Friday!

Astrology August 25, 2011: Mars Squares Saturn, Venus Trines Pluto

Tags

, , , , , , , , ,

COSMIC WATCH:

“A handful of patience is worth more than a bushel of brains.” Dutch Proverb

The Universe supplies us with yet another golden opportunity to build up our reservoir of patience today with Mars, the energy planet, forming an exact square to restrictive Saturn. This more sobering influence tends to put a few roadblocks in our path and we often are forced to navigate detour routes or at least develop alternative plans of action.

Too, sometimes with this aspect we choose to bail out from projects, as Saturn can signify endings. Interestingly, on the eve of this influence being exact, it was reported that Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs, will be exiting his chief executive role at the company, a shocking announcement that has caught many by surprise. Jobs has been battling cancer for years. Additionally, Mars in Cancer is making a 135-degree linkup to dissolving Neptune in Aquarius today, the sign which rules technology. We also still have transiting Saturn making this same kind of alignment with Neptune which can again indicate an erosion or disintegration of established structures (Saturn) around us, part of the natural waxing and waning process of life on the earth plane. We have had this Saturn-Neptune influence for the last few days and it will continue for a few more.

Of course, when Neptune’s shadowy ray is stoked we can experience events that are more surrealistic or unusual. Or, just plain weird. Kind of like that strange earthquake this week near Washington DC, which yours truly also got to experience first-hand while sitting in a gas station of all places. Too, reportedly Moammar Gadhafi is now on the run which seems amazing after ruling Libya for over 40 years. And, unfortunately, we also have monster hurricane “Irene”  swirling around in the Atlantic expecting to hammer the eastern seaboard this weekend after pummeling the Caribbean (Neptune rules the sea).

There is a big cosmic dessert on the table today: Love Goddess Venus trines transforming Pluto! Hopefully, this will serve as a testament to the healing power of love. Too, Venus rules money and it was announced today that Warren Buffett, through his investment company Berkshire Hathaway, is going to invest five billion dollars in Bank of America sending those stocks temporarily soaring (they had been in the tank recently). Venus-Pluto symbolizes mega-money and big bucks dealings.

Enjoy your Thursday!
