daily astrology, letting go, Moon in Pisces, Moon sextile Uranus, the small-block V-8 engine

Cosmic Weather:

Aiming to just go with the flow and allowing whatever is already in motion to simply play out to its natural/inevitable conclusion may be the wisest strategy for us to abide by today with Waxing Luna in surrendering Pisces, the very last sign of the zodiac. The Pisces Moon is always a good time for us to decompress/chillout/process. To have faith that what is happening is ultimately for the best. It’s also an excellent period to invoke or engage our more creative side or imagination. A mid-morning sextile from the Moon to experimental Uranus Rx in Taurus (10:43 am) may also open the door for us to entertain new ideas, connect with unusual people, or possibly depart from our daily routine in some refreshing way.

“Once you realize you deserve a bright future, letting go of your dark past is the best choice you will ever make.” Roy T. Bennett

*All times EDT.

On This Day in History: On October 26, 1954, Chevrolet unveils a more powerful, small-block V-8 engine to put in their Bel-Aire and Corvette models.

Astrologically, that day, there was a New Moon in transformational Scorpio which was exactly square to energizing Mars in the cutting-edge sign of Aquarius, which governs innovation and technology.

Eventually, a majority of GM’s ‘60s muscle cars (Mars cars!!!) would be powered by the small-block engine. The power the engine produced was enough to carry Chevy’s land yachts like the Impala and provide that tire-spinning power that muscle cars are famous for.

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

clarity, communication, Mercury conjunct Sun, Rolling Stones appear on Ed Sullivan Show for first time, understanding

Cosmic Weather:

The Sun and Mercury meet up in secretive Scorpio today (2:23 pm), officially marking the halfway point in Mercury’s retrograde cycle. This “inferior conjunction” between the Sun and the Winged Messenger may very well translate into our finally being able to solve a big piece of the cryptic puzzle before us now – although we are still likely, not quite ready to put a big red bow on it and move on. Not to worry, though, because, soon enough, we will, undoubtedly, have all the riveting answers that we need, or require, in order to come to our usual impeccable conclusions! 🙂

Overall, this Sun-Mercury alignment will hopefully allow us to gain a greater understanding of substantive matters as our mind is unusually clear now. It may also be a period that is punctuated with an increased need for communication with others, especially possibly a time when there might be a greater willingness or eagerness to want to share or disclose things about ourselves of a more intimate nature.

“He showed me his scars, and in return he let me pretend that I had none.” Madeline Miller

Mercury will station direct in Libra on November 3rd (Election Day in the US!).

*All times EDT.

On This Day in History: It was 56 years ago tonight (October 25, 1964) that the Rolling Stones appeared on the “Ed Sullivan Show” for the first time – and also a time when the majority of America got their first glimpse of the more rebellious rock group. The Stones performed two songs in less than seven minutes — their latest hit “Time Is On My Side,” and a cover of Chuck Berry’s “Around And Around.”

Astrologically, that night, the ever-twinkling stars were seemingly smiling brightly upon the British rock band, with lovable, artistic Venus (in perfecting Virgo) exactly trine to propitious Jupiter (in enduring Taurus), often regarded as one of the luckiest and most pleasurable transits around.

Pioneering Mars was also deposited in flashy “rock star” Leo and in an exact square to “kingly” Jupiter, an aspect in which we often may experience moments or instances that sort of feel “larger-than-life” to us, in many respects. Mars-Jupiter energy characteristically tends to “pump us up” with insatiable enthusiasm or excitement for matters. It can also sometimes portend the start of something really BIG (like the rollout of the world’s greatest Rock and Roll Band!). Many have also said that the Stones had their “breakout performance” on the TV show, that October evening.

“People love talking about when they were young and heard Honky Tonk Women for the first time. It’s quite a heavy load to carry on your shoulders, the memories of so many people.” Mick Jagger

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Astrology October 14, 2020: The Waning Moon in Virgo

daily astrology, Moon in Virgo, Moon trine Pluto, Moon trine Saturn, President Reagan, The Supreme Court, Waning Moon phase

Cosmic Weather:

The late great Portuguese writer Joe Saramago once wrote: “Chaos is merely order waiting to be deciphered.” An insight that we may want to personally apply to our lives today as we have the Waning Crescent Moon in organizing Virgo dutifully at our beck and call for the duration. When Luna is in perfecting Virgo (an earth sign), our actions are motivated mainly by practical considerations. Also, the Waning lunar cycle is always excellent for wrapping or finishing things up, decluttering, de-weeding, cleaning closets, catching up on chores or menial tasks as we ready ourselves for the upcoming New Moon, which in this case, will be in Libra, on Friday.

The Moon in Virgo is also making flowing trines, this afternoon, to both perceptive Pluto (1:55 pm) and disciplined Saturn (6:47 pm) in the self-mastery sign of Capricorn, ideally allowing us to further zero in, more intensely, on what work needs to be done and how to go about it most efficiently. There may also be a greater ability or special finesse now in being able to locate hidden resources or to be able to refurbish/repurpose/refashion things for new uses. It’s also interesting, too, isn’t it, how we can sometimes suddenly perceive a matter or situation, even something seemingly minuscule in a whole new light and, as a result, our world can literally change or transform in an instant, for the better. Yet one more reason to never give up!

*All times EDT

On This Day in History: On October 14, 1980, Republican presidential candidate Ronald Reagan pledged on the campaign trail to appoint the first woman to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Astrologically, that day, the Sun was exactly conjunct transformational Pluto in Libra, which is the zodiacal sign that rules the Supreme Court. Sun-Pluto days can also often shine a spotlight on the subject of power and all of its many ramifications. Venus (governing women) was also in work-related Virgo and exactly quintile (a creative aspect) to change-oriented Uranus in breakthrough Scorpio. Venus-Uranus aspects are often associated with gender issues and especially issues of equality for women.

On July 7, 1981, President Reagan announced he would nominate Sandra Day O’Connor as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court to replace the retiring Potter Stewart.

Astrologically, on that day, expansive Jupiter and structuring Saturn were nearly exact conjunct in Libra and pioneering Mars, in decision-oriented Gemini, was trining Pluto in Libra. Mars-Pluto aspects are normally excellent for instituting pioneering, sweeping reforms that impact the masses. The Jupiter-Saturn influence also perhaps helping to grow things beyond the realm of existing protocols.

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

assertiveness, daily astrology, Mercury stations Retrograde in Scorpio, Sun opposite Mars

Cosmic Weather:

“When you are fulfilling the meaning of your life, your steps are assertive, but when you are after power or pleasure, you become aggressive.” Roumen Bezergianov

The Libra Sun is making an opposition to assertive Mars Rx in Aries, this evening (7:26 pm). Mars aspects are always potentially trickier to handle because Mars energy tends to easily trigger confrontational situations, in part, because we are more apt to come on more forcefully and also are more focused on getting what we want instead of considering the needs and wants of others. However, finding a way to collaborate with others can go a long way toward defusing any social tension now.

On another level, the Sun-Mars opposition can increase our self-awareness, especially concerning motivations that we may have inside of us that are more hidden or unconscious. Today’s Sun-Mars alignment also marks the midway point of Mars in its retrograde cycle with Mars stationing direct on November 13.

Thinker Mercury is also stationing retrograde tonight in investigative Scorpio (9:05 pm), a phase in which it will remain until November 3rd. The Winged Messenger’s retrograde cycle is generally considered a time for us to mull over, or reflect upon our recent decisions.

With Mercury in perceptive Scorpio, there’s a possibility that key information, details, or facts that we may have missed or overlooked, will now begin to filter through, perhaps leading to our altering or changing our mind about things. Because (Pluto-ruled) Scorpio is also known for its intensity, thoroughness, and drama, it’s likely that some of what comes out or is uncovered now could potentially be very impactful. Thinking here, in particular, of buried secrets being glaringly exposed. Of course, Scorpio energy can also be very healing and renewing so it’s possible that some new revelations or disclosures may end up positively turning us around in a whole other direction that we had originally intended.

The Waning Moon is also in analytical Virgo today, which is excellent for weighing facts or information and also for making repairs or corrections.

Overall today, with intellectual Mercury stationing retrograde and the more volatile Sun-Mars opposition, it may be best to just sort of wing it for now and not commit to any major decisions or take decisive actions, as there’s probably a good likelihood that we will feel differently about things in the future. Also, the Mercury Rx energy often seems to have the most impact, or be most pronounced, on the days that it’s actually stationing, which would, again, be today and then on November 3rd (Election Day in the U.S.!).

*All times EDT

On This Day in History: On October 13, 1792, the premiere issue of The Old Farmer’s Almanac was published and edited by Robert Thomas in Boston, MA. While there were other almanacs around at the time, this one became an immediate hit. An almanac, by definition, records and predicts astronomical events (the rising and setting of the Sun, for instance), tides, weather, and other phenomena with respect to time.

Astrologically, on that date, the Sun was in airy, intellectual Libra (also the sign of the public’s reception to something), and exactly trine investigative Pluto in astronomy-ruling, methodology-laden Aquarius. Sun-Pluto aspects are often excellent for being able to garner/attract/wield mass influence, to have mass impact. The Libra Sun was also sextile innovative Uranus, in creative Leo (the modern-day ruler of Aquarius), which can help to inject a certain degree of uniqueness or even brilliance into enterprises. The two benefic planets, artistic Venus and teacher Jupiter were also conjunct in probing  Scorpio, a very propitious alignment, especially for writing and publishing ventures (which Jupiter rules).

Based on his observations, Thomas used a complex series of natural cycles to devise a secret weather forecasting formula, which brought uncannily accurate results, traditionally said to be 80 percent accurate. Even today, his formula is kept safely tucked away in a black tin box at the Almanac offices in Dublin, New Hampshire. – (Taken from almanac.com; see the Source Notes below for full attribution.)

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

daily astrology, dreams and wishes, Jupiter sextile Neptune, mercury sextile venus, romance, Teddy Roosevelt renames the Executive Mansion the White House

Cosmic Weather:

There may be an otherworldly feel or quality to the day as hopeful Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system, forms a sextile, for the third and final time this year, to idealistic Neptune (at 3:06 am) the planet of our dreams and imagination. (The other dates were February 20th and July 27th). This more inspirational type of energy can motivate us to reach for the ever-twinkling stars, and with Jupiter deposited in ambitious, pragmatic Capricorn, there’s a real possibility that we’ll be able to lasso in whatever it is we’re seeking, especially if we are disciplined and remained focused on elements of the bigger picture and perhaps what’s at stake.

This may also be a good time to become involved with projects pertaining to art, music, photography, and dance, as well as for engaging in charitable or humanitarian activities. Our nocturnal dreams may also be very vivid and meaningful for us now, so we may want to pay closer attention to them and write them down.

Mercury in probing Scorpio – which will be stationing retrograde tomorrow – is also sextile to accomodating Venus in organized Virgo (at 12:39 pm), an aspect that can naturally turn our thoughts to matters such as love and friendship. It may also make us more amenable or predisposed to evaluating our relationships as well as possibly discussing taking a relationship to the next level. Too, the waning Moon is in Leo, the sign of romance!

“And he took her in his arms and kissed her under the sunlit sky, and he cared not that they stood high upon the walls in the sight of many.” – J.R.R Tolkien

Overall, with communicator Mercury and harmonizer Venus in positive alignment, it should hopefully be easier for us to work collaboratively with each other now, or to at least find a few points of common agreement. Today’s Jupiter-Neptune influence may also beneficially assist us here as it, ideally, can incline us to be more principled or philosophically-minded, or less personally reactive. That said, with Mercury in very intense Scorpio, there is always, of course, still a possibility that some conversations could become very animated or overheated as we go about making our beliefs and ideologies (Jupiter) known while simultaneously investigating or weighing the facts of matters (thinking expressly here, of the start of Monday’s Supreme Court nomination hearing in the U.S. Senate!).

*All times EDT.

Tarot Card For The Day: The Six of Wands. This card graphically depicts a celebrated victor on horseback in the Rider Deck. It can also inspire acting upon our convictions or ideals which, in turn, can help draw support from others.

On This Day in History: On October 12, 1901, U.S. President Teddy Roosevelt renames the Executive Mansion as “The White House.” Since nearly every U.S. state had an “executive mansion” for its governor, President Roosevelt believed the name “White House” would distinguish it as the official residence of the President of the United States. (whitehousehistory.org)

Astrologically, that day, there was a New Moon in beautifying Libra, which can naturally place more of an emphasis on such things as form, style, and decorum. This New Moon was also exactly trine to transformational Pluto, which was deposited in the communicative sign of Gemini, ruling words, phrases, and grammar. The ruler of the New Moon, elegant Venus, was also exactly conjunct energetic Mars, in refurbishing Scorpio.

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

daily astrology, nirvana, self righteous, Sun quincunx Neptune, Sun square Jupiter, Tarot card for the day

Cosmic Weather:

Today we may be tempted to eschew or give a thumbs down, to any small, medium, or even what could be described as normal-sized large gestures or overtures in favor of going with or holding out for the “whopper” or “jumbo” options instead (you know, part of the whole “bigger is better” philosophy). While Sun square Jupiter (9:34 am) can positively give us a gargantuan shot of self-confidence or enthusiasm, the downside to it is that it can often find us overestimating our rave abilities or getting immersed in activities that end up requiring more energy than they’re worth.

Another lovely, dubious shadow side to the often “over the top” Sun-Jupiter energy is that it can sometimes bring out our irresistible self-righteousness (or virtue-signaling side), which can then, no doubt, quickly descend into experiencing various awkward, random, complicated moments of holy finger-pointing, which can then lead to smelly toe-pointing, and then eventually morphing into engaging in cringe-worthy, highly suspect “paint-by-number” charades. And that’s likely just the beginning!

We also may have another precarious Cinderella glass slipper dropping into the fathomless, bottomless, oceanic depths with the (“please-like-me”) pretty Libra Sun quincunx to psychedelic hippie Neptune Retrograde, occurring in the sign of fishy, self-flagellating Pisces (11:31 am). We can’t detail all the scandalous, risque ramifications that could possibly come about from this little cosmic quickie, but suffice it to say, the map of directions regarding the fastest, surefire way to arrive at sacred Nirvana (or the scenario in which the magic slipper fits the fairy tale princess’s foot) is likely to become very soggy or waterlogged now. So please tread and chant “OM” very carefully now! 🙂 Challenging Sun-Neptune aspects often make things appear other than they are and sometimes what is being masked or covered up is much stranger than first thought or ever could have been imagined.

“Some stories have to be written because no one would believe the absurdity of it all.” Shannon L. Adler

Tarot Card for the Day: The Hangman, suggesting the need for surrender instead of resistance. Excellent for meditation or seeking wisdom.

On This Day in History: On October 11, 1939, Albert Einstein informs FDR of the possibilities of an atomic bomb.

Astrologically, that day, communicator Mercury had just entered the life and death sign of Scorpio, at zero degrees (Scorpio rules bombs). Expansive Jupiter, retrograde in “warrior” Aries the ram was also exactly trine to transformative Pluto, Scorpio’s modern-day ruler. Jupiter-Pluto aspects are often associated with being able to wield or generate tremendous power and influence. Pluto was also in the ostenstatious, larger than life sign of Leo the Lion.

Birthdays today: Former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt (and FDR’s wife), who was born on Oct. 11, 1884 (d. 1962). Cardi B. also is turning 28 today.

Hope you enjoy your Sunday! Please be safe and well.

daily astrology, Far Side of the Moon revealed, mercury opposite uranus, Pluto stationing direct in Capricorn, Tarot card for the day

Cosmic Weather:

While intellectual Mercury’s opposition to erratic Uranus may make it a bit more difficult for us to concentrate or focus our brilliant attention today (4:55 pm EDT), we may be able to score at least a few bonus points with respect to suddenly being able to see things/elements in a whole brand new light – which could then conceivably go a long way in helping us to dispel, perhaps, some of our more rigid, outworn, or erroneous views or narratives, as well as to maybe help us to creatively problem-solve…

Of course, there’s also a chance that these fresh new insights could deliver up sort of a mental jolt that leaves us kind of clueless or scratching our heads about what to do next, as we may be unable to mentally process matters in a timely, semi-intelligible fashion, due to the very rapid nature at which thoughts, ideas, and messages are bombarding us now…

Fortunately, though, today’s scintillating Mercury-Uranus opposition is just at the very first phase or go-round, so we may not necessarily have to come to any conclusive or far-reaching decisions now, thanks, in part, to Mercury’s upcoming retrograde cycle – which means we may get to go through this whole, glorious, divine cognitive excursion at least two more times (on October 19th and November 17th) when more information, puzzle pieces, or follow-up may come to the forefront of our ever-delicate psyches.

Too, with Mercury surreptitiously holding up in probing Scorpio and Pluto (Scorpio’s ruler) stationing direct, just last Sunday, it could be that we are also privy, today, to eye-opening results of long-term investigations – especially with the Moon darting through blabbermouth, news reporter Gemini! 🙂

All in all, a very good day to be led by our insatiable curiosity and to welcome or entertain unconventional or even radical approaches to old problems – even if we decide, in the end, to maybe, temporarily, stay the course.

“Why is it that when one man builds a wall, the next man immediately needs to know what’s on the other side?” George R. R. Martin, A Game of Thrones

Tarot Card for the Day: The Ten of Swords, which suggests that something is coming to a head or finale. Ambiguity is reduced.

Birthdays today: Russia’s Vladimir Putin turns 68. Television personality Simon Cowell is 61.

On This Day in History: On October 7, 1959, the Soviet probe Luna 3 took the first photographs of the “Far Side of the Moon,” eighteen of them resolvable, covering one-third of the surface invisible from the Earth. (Wikipedia)

Astrologically, that day, fortuitous Jupiter, the planet of hope and expansion, had just entered its home turf of Sagittarius, which also rules space travel and exploration. Pioneering Mars in balancing Libra was also just separating from an exact (opportunity) sextile to change-oriented Uranus in the bold, theatrical sign of Leo the Lion. Uranus is the planet that governs, among other things, innovative breakthroughs and technological advances, including in such areas as aviation or pertaining to spacecraft.

Hope it’s a good one! Be safe and well. I’ve missed you guys!
